We shared two entrees: the chicken adobo and the house special (a pork dish). Both were exquisite. They don't have a large dessert selection, only two choices, so if you love something sweet, like I do, to cherry your delicious meal then you'll be a bit disappointed. As someone who grew up in the Philippines, I always crave for some nostalgia when it comes to food. Banig's breakfast platter never fails to take me back. It comes with Garlic Rice, an egg (your choice of style), and meat (tocino, longanisa , fish, or tapa). They fill up the platter pretty nicely too. I never feel like i need more of anything. It's only around $5. Environment is good. If you get lucky, you can come in on a not so busy day. Enjoy The Filipino Channel 'cause they have English captions now! So excited to have found Filipino food in a reasonable distance. After reading rather great reviews, I packed up the kid and drove about 20 minutes and found this place tucked away in the middle of a shopping center. Parking was fairly easy and was a quick in and out considering there were a few people inside. They had a great selection of food, including items that weren't on the menu but easily fulfilled if requested- however, no adobo at 530pm and didn't plan on making anymore. The women were sweet and attentive, offering additional items and possible catering for future events, I guess the amount of food I ordered must have been perceived as feeding a family... I think the photos on here are a bit deceiving. I'm sure they're actual photos of the food served here, but when it's fresh. Haha. Being that it is cafeteria, kalenderya style I'm sure that a lot of food sits there for hours especially when there aren't enough customers to consume the food. I get it, Filipinos don't like throwing food away so let it sit there till someone buys it, sayang na man diba? Except, this isn't the Philippines. It's amurrriccaaa and your fellow Pinoys ain't down with the "tira tira." Perhaps you can try cooking smaller quantities but more frequently so that you can offer more "fresh" food? Whatever it is, we came with a gang of military peeps and it was embarrassing bringing them there to experience Filipino food especially with the place looking all grungy. My husband discovered this place by chance. He was trying to find milkfish to make stuffed milkfish. We've been coming for a good 10 years now. The food here were really good and the price is reasonable. It is just recently that I find it too salty for my taste. The ground pork, fried milkfish, peppered steak, pork steak and breakfast menu are highly recommended. The place can get really crowded during lunch hours. read more

Food is not really fresh, and I don't understand the food not being fresh when the brother of Banig owner, Manong Dante, has a market RIGHT NEXT DOOR. They have the worst variety and only make small batches of each food item. It doesn't matter what time I come to this place, it seems like they never refill their trays. It's pretty much a "that's all we have, take it or leave it" kind of place. You would think that during peak lunchtime hours, that would be the best time to come, but no, it's the same story! Long overdue review as I've been coming here since 2010. BEST Filipino food in town!!! They always have a variety, but I recommend you try to go as early as possible to avoid lines and to get the food while it's fresh. I normally get the BBQ specials for $5.25 and their sisig, palabok (only on weekends), picadillo and dinuguan are awesome! The owners are absolutely hospitable and very welcoming!!! They know me by name, my favorites and they always strike up a conversation with me when I go there. It is this Filipino hospitality and warm customer service that keeps me going back to Banig. I grew up going to this place, and it's the only filipino spot that has stayed open. The food is usually good. They do have their off days (i.e. sinigang and ginataan tastes watered down), but for a "pick-pick" joint it's not bad. Even with Salo-Salo open here they're still going on strong (and rumor has it salo-salo moreno valley is shutting down). Some of my favs to order: - sinigang pork - barbecue sticks - pusit (squid) - ginataan (sp?) It's no the best filipino restaurant that I've been too, but f you want to just grab some quick decent food that's not a burger or a taco this is the place to go. Prices are decent too. I knew this place was going to be good the moment I walked in and saw a American soldier eating, great customer service, the food tasted great and very authentic! I came here because my mother and I were in the mood for some Halo Halo on this hot day. While we were waiting for our Halo Halo, I noticed the food that was out. You can tell nothing was fresh. It all just looked...unappealing, like it was sitting there for a couple days. I remember eating here a long time ago. The food was definitely not something to brag about. Anyway...about the Halo Halo. I would NOT recommend it. They use a lot of bananas (that was hard). There was no sweetness to the drink, except for the three pieces of palm gels, that were in there. To pay $4 plus for one made it worse. Pretty pricey for something that was blah. I should've just bought a slurpee. So this place is just ok. Nothing to brag about. Banig is one of the best authentic Filipino restaurants out there. The restaurant itself is very clean, neat, and comfortable. As a Filipino myself, they do a great job of keeping the atmosphere very close to home. They even have Filipino dramas on the tv round the clock so it's like I never left my house. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced (I highly recommend the tocino, lechon kawali, lumpia, and of course--the halo-halo). The staff is very kind, hospitable, and helpful. I moved into Canyon Lake in1989, about 35 min. away but come here to Banig when I'm homesick for P.I. cuisine. I appreciate the wonderful food and the kind, efficient service. My favorite Filipino food in the IE! I love the pancit, the lumpia, and the caldaretta here. They are quick, tasty, and a great value for the price. I can take my wife shopping for food at the Fil-Am market next door, then head over here for lunch and some halo halo. I also like that they don't overdue the garlic like some Filipino places I have been to in the bay area. I believe they changed their hours and are now open 7 days a week as well, so if you need your Filipino fix on a Monday, they got you covered. read more

Diniguan and giniling na baboy (ground pork) are really good, the bilo- bilo was perfect (not too sweet). The staff are really nice, place is clean. The special meal which is pork or chicken barbeque are ok, nothing special, needs a little more taste (probably marinate more). And I wish of more variety with there food.
