I have mixed feelings about my experience at Black Bear Diner. The food was good, and our server was friendly and attentive at first, so everything started off on a positive note. Unfortunately, things went downhill when it was time to pay. Our server accidentally gave us another table's receipt, and my cousin paid it without realizing it wasn't ours. After we were flagged down and told about the mistake, the restaurant tried to sort out the difference instead of simply refunding the incorrect charge and having us pay our actual bill. The end result was even more frustrating because we ended up being charged nearly $10 more than what our bill should have been. Instead of fixing the mistake in the simplest way, the situation became confusing and left us paying more than we owed. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What matters is how they're handled. I have always appreciated your breakfast service--especially when I arrive early before the crowd--and my first online experience with your Friday Fish Special (AYCE) was excellent. That positive experience encouraged me to order online again a week later. Unfortunately, the quality and consistency were drastically different. During my later order, the fish dinner I received did not resemble the generous portions and corn balls included with the Friday special. Instead, I was given a few small beer‑battered fish pieces with none of the corn balls, and the overall meal was disappointing. Additionally, the fried chicken dinner was especially concerning. The crust was extremely hard, the meat was dry, and some pieces were so tough they were unpleasant to eat. This was surprising and disheartening coming from a restaurant that has long been one of my favorites. A family of 4 called the staples put their name down and left. The hostess called them out three times even said last call. About 10 mins later they walk in and the manager decided to have them sit down. This is a restaurant and if you leave it's your responsibility to come back in a timely matter not whenever you feel like it. The manager should've told them that they lost their spot. read more

I used to go to Black Bear diner all the time, and it was always crowded and the food was great. The last two times I've been there. The service has been terrible... The server was very nice, but there was only one covering the whole restaurant. It was empty. The waitress and hostess us were running around like crazy while an older lady stood there at the counter watching and filling up salt shakers. There were three people for the entire restaurant, not including cooks. The hostess, the waitress, and the salt shaker supervisor. Unfortunately, I think I'm gonna have to cross this location off my list, I'm not that into full salt shakers. Too bad. read more

Honestly, not bad! I'm a real stickler when it comes to my breakfast/brunch foods, especially my sausages & this place didn't let me down! Portion sizes were decent for the money, however, there are some menu options that are bit pricey, but I like to think it's because of inflation at the moment. Especially with our eggs. Also, I was almost turned away too because their menu is HUGE! Usually that means food quality & standards are lower because they have to account for too many options but this didn't seem to be that big of an issue here, some things could have been better like the bacon tasted old & it was cold & soft but yah. Our waiter was nice & he was decent with his check ins, but he did seem a bit distracted but I think it's because he and one other girl I saw on that side of the restaurant were covering that whole side of the dining room. The ambiance is cute, it has little bear figurines everywhere but some of the stuff was dusty. I really enjoyed coming here despite its sketchy location. It is on one of the busiest, loudest, & craziest streets in MoVal. & it seems they have a lot of people waiting outside so just be careful if you have little ones and you're waiting outside for a table. I had never heard or been to black bear diner before but it was my husband and I wedding anniversary and we wanted to get southern brunch somewhere local to us . We decided to stop by around 2pm on a Sunday and as soon as we ate our food we decided that we need to bring our family back here one day because that's how much we enjoyed it . That being said we ordered the chicken strips and waffles , strawberry French toast , chicken fried steak , chicken soup , biscuits, cornbread and tropical mimosas . We definitely had left overs because the portions are big but I was happy to eat it again later that day from how good it was . The menu was a huge newspaper (three big pages ) . They had so many options of food to choose from so we just ordered what we thought sounded good at the time . The service was good , her name was Alesha (I could be spelling it wrong) . Black Bear Diner in Moreno Valley is always busy for breakfast and brunch, and for good reason - they serve delicious comfort food in a wonderful black bear-themed diner. This restaurant is located just south of the 60 freeway on Sunnymead Blvd near Perris Blvd in Moreno Valley. There are plenty of parking spaces in this shared lot. Upon entry, it immediately feels you've walked into a log cabin. The ambiance is warm and inviting with chatter that fills the air. Check in with the host and, while you wait to be called, peruse the black bear-themed items available for purchase. This restaurant has plenty of tables, booths, and a few seats at the counter. Interaction between the staff have always been a pleasant experience. One of my favorites here is their freshly squeezed orange juice and, from time to time, I'll order a cup of coffee. The coffee always comes out piping hot but the flavor is just okay . Oddly, drinking it feels comforting and the server keeps it filled. Another favorite of mine is their sweet cream pancake: fluffy and simply dusted with powdered sugar. I can eat it just plain like this. Their scrambled bowls are also pretty good with a bit of everything savory in the dish. They also serve dinner, which I have yet to try. And a display case full of desserts. Overall, my experience at Black Bear Diner was a busy breakfast and brunch spot with a large menu of comfort food in a woodsy setting. Stephanie, I understand that safety is your top priority. As a mother of a 7-year-old, a toddler, and currently pregnant, I completely understand the importance of keeping children safe. If you review the video carefully, you will see that we were holding our toddler while preparing to put him down. We were already securing him. It just so happened that Nancy walked by and saw him standing at that moment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While I understand your concern about safety, my question is: why was a family with a toddler seated in such a busy, high-traffic area in the first place? We were never asked whether we were comfortable sitting there, despite the obvious safety concerns.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My main issue, however, is not the safety reminder itself but the way Nancy communicated it. Her approach was unprofessional and lacked basic courtesy and empathy. Most of your staff were polite and respectful, which is why Nancy's behavior stood out. She did not offer to help move the chair or assist us in any way. Instead, she simply stared at us and shook her head, which came across as rude and unpleasant. As a family trying to enjoy a meal on a Sunday, we found the interaction unnecessary and disappointing. Didn't eat we arrived and got on the waitlist. My husband called my mother in law and she mentioned that they had a bad experience with lots of flies and a cup had lipstick inside. They had visited in August. We got discouraged and left which didn't allow us to try the food or experience. But just to highlight I added my name to the waitlist and never got a text or call that our table was ready. On September 21, 2025, my cousin was in town visiting and staying at a hotel nearby, which we found out was walking distance. We like Black Bear so, there was no question that we were going to eat breakfast there. When our server, Gabby (Gabriel) came, we were given our utensils which, unfortunately was in stained napkins, so we asked for clean ones. Gabby said they would be brought but, they weren't, so we asked another server to bring some for us. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast, it was alright but, some of it was a bit overcooked/burnt so I tried to remove or move those parts aside and eat the rest. My cousin ordered lunch (turkey) and one of the items that comes with it was not available so, Gabby brought him the berry pie (bagged to go). He tasted the pie later and it tasted nasty. My daughter ordered the cubs mini volcano and her food was good. We have been to different locations and it has always been great. This is the first time that the experience was not so good. I have been curious about this chain and since we were in the area, I made my family stop by here for lunch after my son's baseball game. This place is cute, you walk in to see a bunch of black bear themed merchandise. We got seated right away and were served by Yesenia. She was really nice and provided us with excellent service! Menus are newspapers so that was unique. The menu is pretty big and this restaurants has a lot to choose from. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, BBQ Pork Ribs, Open Faced Turkey Sandwich, Blueberry Pancakes, and Huckleberry lemonade to drink. First off, the portions here are HUGE! Every time Yesenia came by with a plate, all I could say was "whoa!" You definitely get your money's worth here, and I appreciate that especially now when everyone seems to be charging more and scrimping on portions. The huckleberry lemonade was good, but didn't taste anything super special. You get one refill, and I asked if I could have my refill in a takeaway cup so I could bring it home for my other kids to try. It comes garnished with blackberries, which is weird since a huckleberry looks like a blueberry. Everything was tasty, nothing really stood out as being bad. My favorite was the pancakes, they were thick and fluffy and oh so good! Cornbread was delish also. I liked my open faced turkey sandwich - it was like Thanksgiving yumminess in June. My hubby and son said the CF Steak and ribs were good, no complaints which is good since hubby is picky. The chicken tortilla soup had one cube of chicken so I wished there was more in there. Also I wished they had was fresh blueberries for the pancakes. They use blueberries like the canned ones you get in the Betty Crocker blueberry muffin box mix. We were in the area and wanted brunch. I was curious about this chain so we dropped in. It was very busy on a Sunday morning with lines out the door but we were seated immediately because there was a table for two open. Larger parties had to wait. The server was nice and I think that's why I am giving any stars. Service was good. I ordered the eggs benedict with potatoes and my partner ordered pancakes. The benedicts came out fine but the potatoes were a cold mush and completely inedible. The server switched it out but it's like they aren't cooking things fresh and letting food sit out for some time. The replacement was better but really greasy. My partner's pancakes were very basic even though he got sweet cream. The food looked and tasted disappointing. I think we should have just gone to Dennys across the street. DO NOT ORDER THE POT ROAST I ordered the pot roast and was given approximately 1/16 lb of a dream of a beef pot roast. My beef serving was measurable in nanometers and modern microscopes have only recently been able to view the serving of meat I received.
