Amazing restaurant. I went here and ate sinigang and adobo with my family. It was an enlightening experience and I would recommend it to any person in the MOVAL residential areas. It will truly teach you about the wonders of Filipino foods, and even if you are in a neighboring city I would make a thousand miles to make the trip. This is the definition of a good family run business that cares for its customers and offers good tasting food. Michael, one of the primary chefs, is the owner's son of this restaurant. I can see he makes a great effort to make sure everything is always running smoothly. Whenever me and my friends go, he always makes sure to ask if the food is good and if anything needs to be tweaked. I like to come here for breakfast and get the longanisa sausage with over-easy eggs and garlic rice. Its only 4.99! When I come for lunch, I usually get the two combo entree meal. I have visited Banig w/ my Filipino hubby at least 12 times, and we both agree that the food is pretty decent here. Both the pork adobo and lechon kawali are porkin' good! We also like the chicken afritada, fried tilapia, milk fish (bangus), bar-b-que sticks, pancit, and the lumpias. They improved on the dinuguan...it's no longer that salty. It used to taste like the salton sea before, so I'm glad they fixed that (they probably read my review). The portions are on the small side, but the price is still fair. This place is more of a fast food restaurant where you pay at the counter, and is good for someone who wants to get their fix, or wants to try a new exotic food without spending a lot of dough. This one gets 4 stars for the price. One whole daing fro 7 dollars. Taste good, and in most place the whole fish is 11 dollars. They are super nice here, and great variety of authentic FIlipino food I got the dinaguan, and it was good, and had the classic ingredients. Their kare-kare is good, and what you would expect in a classic Filipino dish. The Lechon is good, crispy, and large portions are given. YET.....I thought their is nothing special about the food. It is the type of Filipino food you can get anywhere, in Eagle Rock, or Echo Park, or West Covina. Its really more of a 3.5 stars for the food. I've never really had Filipino food (this would be my 2nd and 3rd time having it). My boyfriend loves this place after I found it on Yelp because he says it reminds him of home! It's a la carte style so it's easy to point to what you want if it looks good. I'm not sure if I came in on a wrong day, but this place had most of their food for preorder. It could have been because of new years eve. My friends and I came in to get some Filipino food but weren't really able to order much because everything was for preorders. However, the lady working there helped us get some lechon with whatever they had left available. I guess I can say they really try to help you. I got the lechon, beef stew, and rice. The lechon was really crispy and had some nice flavor as well. The vinegar/soy sauce was a great compliment. The beef stew was good too. Beef was very tender. The place was fine and slowly was packed with people wanting to get a taste of Filipino food. They were also playing TFC on TV which made me miss Philippines more. The food was just fine though, I wish the crispy liempo was more tasty. The giniling was fine. The pancit bihon was okay. She even gave me an extra chicken soup for free. I don't know who the women were working this morning, but they represented this amazing business which has been in Moreno Valley for years HORRIBLY. The older woman had the worst attitude and I assume she thought because I am black I don't know Tagalog. She made comment about us coming in not wearing a mask (which other customers leaving didn't have on either) and not that I need to explain a damn thing but we're a vaccinated family anyway. I Am only commenting on the breakfast since that's all I had, it was just OK. It was overpriced in my opinion, even during these times. I paid $15 for two breakfasts, no drinks or anything. I had the longsilog, I don't care for their longanisa, it's dry and not sweet and sticky like most longanisa I've tried. The garlic fried rice was bland and its not very garlicky. After my disappointing breakfast I decided to try the halo-halo. Sadly, it wasn't that great either. There aren't very many Pinoy resto options out this way but I'll drive to Anaheim to MJs pinoy fiesta before I waste my money here. Maybe I'm spoiled because I grew up in the Norwalk/Cerritos area where there are some great Pinoy dining options, but the fact that Banig has been here apparently for so long I was expecting better tasting food. The last two times I went there, the lady behind the counter was rude, angry, and aggressive. For example, I ordered the milk fish at the end of the work day for them, and the heavy set Spanish or Filipino lady tried to give me the older looking piece that looked as though it had been sitting been sitting there all day; when I asked her to give me the fresher looking piece, that's when all hell broke loose! She told me she couldn't give me that piece for some made up reason, and then turned to her boss or the owner to ask him if she should give me the fresh piece I ordered. She gave me bad service, a 'side eye,' and an attitude. She made it so obvious she was trying to take the fresher pieces home since they were closing Once confronted, the lady grew angrier and ruder. The older male boss/owner refuses to do anything about this lady's rude demeanor and disrespect. Worst service ever! I felt degraded and humiliated for what I believe to just be okay Filipino food. My husband discovered this place by chance. He was trying to find milkfish to make stuffed milkfish. We've been coming for a good 10 years now. The food here were really good and the price is reasonable. It is just recently that I find it too salty for my taste. I went there at around 3:20PM ordered some stuff and come time to pay, I realized my wallet isn't in my pocket. I went to the car thinking it might have fallen there but to no avail. Went back in to tell them to cancel my order because I misplaced my wallet. Keep in mind they close at 4:00PM on weekends.
