When I visited, the service time was OK. Bann Thai was recommended a while back, but I just got around to trying it; and it's in my neighborhood, old town Occoquan. Tiny Thai restaurant tucked away in an unassuming house-like structure with 5-6 small tables. I came here with my GF and some friends and we were impressed by the food, but less so by the service. When we first arrived there were some other customers scattered around who were enjoying their dinners, but there were no staff in site. After waiting around for ~5 minutes, a woman who seemingly had arrived before us and was waiting to pick-up a take out order yelled out "HELLO?!?" and finally a kid who appeared to be in high school came out and told us to take a seat at our table. Afterwards, when we were finally able to place order, our server (who also appeared to be high school age) forgot our appetizer and then, after we reminded them, they brought out the wrong dish. I had the larb gai and Tom yum gai. Larb gai had a nice kick to it. Ton yum gai had a plentiful amount of chicken and mushrooms; really balanced on the lime flavor. Wish it had a more spicy kick but still very flavorful. I'd definitely return. read more

Getting what you paid for is not a big deal according to this restaurant's manager. He must be rolling in stacks of cash since he thinks that I, as the customer, should literally pay for their mistake! If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Horrible customer service! Stay away!! They messed up a $90+ Grubhub order (by their own admission) that we were charged service fees and a $25 driver tip (approximately $34 total). All the manager was able to do was to refund us for the items we did not receive and disappointedly, I thanked him despite their mistake and hung up, knowing we had paid a Grubhub fee and tipped a driver for delivering Since we paid a service fee and tipped a driver for delivering half of what we ordered, I called back to ask what our options were (such as even ordering the items again and picking the items up myself). He told me the kitchen was already closed and there was nothing more that he could do. I then asked to speak with the manager and he told that that he is the manager. He then ridiculed my tipping saying, "What did you tip, 100%?" Then he said, "What do you want me to do? You're going to make a big deal about this on a Monday night?" I then told him, "F*** you, mother f******," and hung up on him. It is unbelievable to get such rudeness from restaurant management and such poor customer service. The place is a quaint location in the heart of the busier part of Occoquan. When we arrived, we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. I'm glad we did wait because the food was great! In particular, the Pla Tod has the crispiest fish, which comes from the fact that the fish is quite thin. I would say it makes it more crispier at the cost of it being hard to pull apart, but it was well seasoned and you can soften it with the accompanying delicious sweet and sour sauce. The curry itself was also more on the sweet side than spicy side. It came in such a cute little pot/bucket! The spring rolls were also pretty good, but I would skip based on the price. read more

This is my second time here. We had their spring rolls which are delicious and very crispy. My husband had their chicken pad Thai which was a big portion and very flavorful. I had their crispy pork with Chinese broccoli which was a big portion however I wished it had more of the pork. Recently went back and now they have sukiyaki soup $16. It was amazing !! Imagine pho but with lighter broth with more veggies and glass noodles. The great thing you can get it with any protein of your preference so i like to get it with shrimp. It amazing cure for hang over and glass noddle are lighter compare to rice noddle that you get it pho and also low calories. It come with sukiyaki sauce that it sweet, salty, sour and tease of spicy that you can dip your veggie, meat and noodle in. If you try it you will be hook and forget about Pho. I also always order Pad Thai and Pad see Eww. It pretty decent compare to alot of Thai restaurant. Super cute little spot in Old Town Occoquan. Stret parking available in front and around the town. I believe they have an upstairs but the downstairs only has a handful of tables. We were sat fairly quickly and they were very busy. I ordered ginger hot tea, Tom Yum Goong with Shrimp, a side of Steamed noodles, and the spring rolls. I loved the ginger tea! It was really good and I loved the mug that they served it in. It had a great ginger flavor. The Tom Yum Goong was a Bowl of soup, there were a lot of mushrooms and it had 2 shrimp in it. It was good with the side of noodles thay I had. The spring rolls took some time as I think that it may have been forgotten but those were delicious as well. I'm a local and have always loved this restaurant, but I don't know what's going on! I appreciate the remodel--it looks bigger and nicer--but the customer service was the worst I've ever experienced. I'm not sure if they changed management, but the service was chaotic. The waitress took my order three times because she apparently kept forgetting. I ordered an appetizer, but she brought it out with my main dish. When I sent it back, my second plate never arrived because she seemingly never placed the order. She then came back a fourth time asking about my order! I wasn't the only one having issues--other customers were also frustrated, and some even left. In the end, I left without eating. I grabbed takeout for four from Bann Thai and everyone thought their dish was good. I ordered Pad See Ew chicken and it was very good. It had the right amount of sweetness to it and enough broccoli. I would've liked more egg, but the amount included was not a deal breaker. All meals were packed in good to-go containers, perfect for reheating leftovers in. I called ahead and my order for four entrees took about 30 minutes. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The restaurant itself is quite small with only a few tables for dining. Cute, unassuming little place with plastic tablecloths, unmatching plates, and great food. Just stopped by for lunch on a raw, windy January day. We started with green tea and Tom yun gai soup. Perfect for the weather. Then we split the Larb gai (minced chicken salad with red onions and chilies and fresh herbs) and Yum nua (flank steak with red onions and carrots and lime and scallions). Both were delicious! So fresh tasting with just a little heat. The service was friendly and fast. Highly recommend!!! read more

We returned to this restaurant about six months ago. There was nobody in the restaurant, and the atmosphere and ambience that was once there was gone. The food was served cold and tasteless, they didn't have half of the things on the menu. And the worst and perhaps strangest thing that happened was when the bill showed up on my bank account. It was billed to a construction company. We will not return, the service was odd. The billing was strange. They didn't have half the stuff in stock and the food was served cold and did not have the good flavor it used to have. I'm not sure what happened. Maybe it changed ownership. Bann Thai was the best thing I was introduced to in 2021. Every single thing is great, but a few items stand out for me that are the best of any Thai restaurant I have had. The wonton soup: nothing should be that amazing. The soup itself is very flavorful and the wontons are soft, flavorful, and consistent. I crave this soup most of the week. Bann Thai fried rice: this is very unique with the raisins and cashews added. I sub out the pork for chicken or all shrimp and must get it spicy and it is s must have with every order. Tucked away in the back corners of little Occoquan City, I was so happy with how cute it looked when I first saw the restaurant. Minimal seating available on the outside when the weather is nice; and cute, compact dining area inside, holding a total 9 tables, half mostly 4 tops and half 2 tops. This is my 4th or 5th time back, and each time I've come the food has been AMAZING. But, at every place I go, I want to find THE dish I love...and today was the day that I did for this restaurant. I ordered the ginger honey tea (big cups, & so full of flavor...very much recommend, especially if you're feeling you got the sniffles!) & the red curry with tofu. Idk really what I was expecting, but when I got it I was again giddy with how cute the presentation was (seen in the pictures). I ordered the red curry because it was the least spicy one. I'm a sissy when it comes to spicy sooo... I deff had to add a little bit of water. And it came with a side of rice. I'm a mixer when it comes to eating & food, so you know I mixed all that rice into the dish. It was SOOOOO good. On the menu you'll see what was in the red curry. It was borderline a broth. My sister and I came here on a Sunday night for dinner and were so happy with our pick! The interior is so cozy and the service was so warm and helpful. The food was excellent, with large portions and very reasonable prices. Our starters especially stood out. We got the spring rolls and the fresh rolls and both were amazing. The fresh rolls were my favorite, actually so fresh and full of flavor and texture. Pad Thai was delish, will def be back! They weren't busy at all and the service was very personable and helpful.  There are many items I loved on a Thai menu and I typically have a very hard time deciding, so I asked the server what to get... she suggested Kra Pow and that's what I went with; with chicken as a protein.  I started with spring rolls, as I typically love a god spring rolls.    Their order of spring rolls comes 3 to an order, cut in half, so there are 6 pieces and they're a pretty good size!  They tasted PERFECT!  The sweat dipping sauce was nice, when mixed with the birdseye chilifish sauce!!    The Kra Pow was great!! It was prepared perfectly, with lots of Thai basil flavor and very fresh and tender veggies.  There was an abundance of chicken in the dish as well and flavors were well-permeated into all items in the dish!  The dish wasn't oily at all and had plenty of sauce to help the cup of rice that came with it get soaked up and become even more delicious!    The setting is quaint and cute... it's a very small dining room and is perfectly covid-safe as they have partitions in between each table.      I really enjoyed this visit and will definitely return... soon!! read more

This place was a hidden gem in Occoquan. We walked right by it the first time because it's tucked in the corner at the end of the street up on a patio. There was one young woman working the front who did everything customer-facing. You will wait a bit because there is only one person working the restaurant, but you will not be disappointed at the food. I was wondering why not many people were in there and was worried that it was an omen of how good the food was, but we saw a steady stream of people constantly walking in for carryout. My go-to dish for thai places is Pad Prik Kraprow. If a thai place can't make this dish, they are not worth going to. The Kraprow here was fantastic. I was worried when they didn't ask me how spicy I wanted it, but it came with a decent amount of spice by default. My date's pad thai was also delicious and the shrimp roll appetizers were so addictive I had to force myself not to order more. Like I said, there is only one person working the whole place so come here with your patient hat on. When she goes upstairs, it sounds like a WWE wrestling match is happening in the upstairs kitchen, but then she comes down with the most amazing and delicious food. Will be back! read more

Legitimate five star food here folks. I travel for work and eat Thai food all across the country. This is one of a handful of places I've tried that knocks it out of the park. I ordered the papaya salad and red curry with shrimp and both were perfection. The papaya salad was a spicy and fresh flavor while the red curry was creamy with a nice warm (not hot) heat - perfect for an early fall night. Decided to try out Bann Thai and absolutely loved the food and atmosphere at this place. Tucked away in the quaint town of Occoquan, this place serves up some great Thai food. Ordered the green curry with tofu, pad Thai with chicken, crispy pork kapraw, and Thai iced tea. Everything was delicious! The green curry was served in a cute ceramic bucket, had a little bit of spice, and a decent amount of veggies and protein in it. The pad Thai was flavorful and slightly sweet, just the way I like my pad Thai. The crispy pork kapraw was an absolute favorite - the pork belly pieces were super crispy even though it was drenched in sauce. And of course the Thai iced tea was sweet and creamy and was the perfect compliment to the meal. Will definitely come back for more! read more

Great cozy place. We came in on a Friday night and business was steady. Hubby is vegan and had plenty of choices, which is really unusual. I had excellent wonton soup and chicken pad thai, which was pretty ordinary. Service was quick and friendly. They were out of mango, which made me sad, but they did have a custard on sticky rice, which ended up being delicious if you don't mind the texture of custard. The decor is at odds with the food type. When you walk in you would swear you're in a deli. I would recommend but second the earlier review about not being a place for little ones. read more
