Ordered bolsa bao, was given a burnt egg bao.. called in to report the problem they say i ordered egg bao?? Why list it under bolsa bao instead of an egg bao ? Scammers
Basically a hole-in-the-wall type restaurant located deep in Garden Grove. It's like finding $200 bucks in your Nike shoebox that you kept hidden just in case and then you finally found it. It's freakin crazy good and delicious, alright. Me and the guys came here a couple days ago from the bar and we had the buzzed munchies. The staff working there are dope and friendly. The interior is minimalistic, but the music playlist hit the vibe right with that Akon song. We ordered the Duck Bao, Boss Bao, Cow Bao, and lastly the Bolsa Bao. It's basically like an Asian taco but the bun is made with rice, so it's very fluffy and soft. The Bolsa Bao which has the roasted pork is very crispy and a bit fatty, but still bomb. My favorite was the Duck bao and the sauce it came with had some much flavor. It was smoky and savory. All the veggies tasted fresh, nothing smelly. I recommend the Duck bao for sure guys, god damn! The rice plates looks pretty good too, I gotta come back and try them next time for sure. Like they always say @Baos Hog, EAT LIKE A BOSS!
Stopped by here for a quick dinner. Very spacious parking lot. Definitely very easy to get too. This joint is quite small, but it's meant to not really be a restaurant, it's giving boba shop space size. I noticed next door they had a bbq shop, so they probably get all their meat supplies next door. Ordering was easy and efficient. I ordered a duck bao and a bolsa bao which was the pork belly bao. It didn't take too long for my order to be completed either since I was the only person in the shop. Digging into the duck bao first, wow the duck was realllyyy good. They slab on a generous piece of duck with perfect parts of meat, fat, and skin. It's very oily though, but it was very delicious. Then I had the bolsa bao, this was okay tbh but it was still pretty nice. The skin of the pork belly could be crispier, but it tasted like it was out for awhile. The meat itself was a bit tough to pull apart, but the overall flavors were very nice. Also the fried onions on both of the baos was a really nice touch. Overall, quick and easy joint. I would definitely get the duck bao again. It's kinda like the one you would get at the Chinese seafood restaurant, but even larger. It's closer to $6 per bao, which is a bit higher than I may have expected, but not as high as if you're going to a night market for it.

Found this place randomly while driving and decided to drop in for a Bao. I ordered the Bolsa Bao which is their crispy roast pork option. First off, the portion size of the bao is pretty large, but it's a huge chunk of the crispy roast pork, so each bite, even when you get to the end is still a mouthful of pork, which I really appreciated. The pickled red onions and cucumbers also were perfect accompaniments to cut through the fattiness of the pork. Overall, a really good Bao. I will definitely come back to try their other Bao options. Otherwise the store was located in a large shopping plaza with plenty of parking. I came during the early afternoon and it was not busy. The guys behind the counter were really helpful when I came in and explained the menu to me. Service was really quick and efficient. The store itself is clean and has a couple tables inside to sit and enjoy your meal. It has a nice casual feel inside with some music playing.
Baos Hog serves up various proteins in baos as well as the option to get the proteins with rice. Pricing for the baos are about half of the rice plates, but I feel like you get much better value with the rice plates. Ribeye and egg rice ($12) - Korean marinated beef was grilled to perfection and served with green onion on top of rice and a sunny side egg. This is the best deal here. Fish bao ($5.50) - The mouth feel of fried basa fish, crispy red/white cabbage, onions, honey mustard sauce and the fluffy soff bao buns really hit the mark! This was a great tasting dish as well. Cow bao ($5) - This had the same ribeye and green onions utilized in the plate. Hot chick bao ($5) - This fried chicken bao with a house sauce, slaw, tossed in a vinaigrette, topped with cilantro and siracha was another well executed dish. Hainan chicken rice with dark meat ($12) - I enjoyed this poached chicken and rice dish. Duck bao ($5.50) - This consisted of pan seared duck, slaw and a hoisin mayo which provided a slightly sweet taste. I'm not a fan of duck but it went well with the bao. Overall there are a lot of protein options to choose from and the prices are reasonable, especially for the rice dishes and that's why I'm bumping their rating up to 5 stars. I recommend getting a single rice dish or 3 baos to fill you up. They have several tables inside as well as 2 outside, so there isn't a whole lot of seating. Most people were getting their items to go.
Loved Baos Hog! The Hainan chicken and baos were so good! Everything was flavorful and fresh, and the prices are super reasonable. Great spot for a tasty, satisfying meal -- definitely coming back!
This place was surprisingly delicious. It opened awhile ago and I never thought to try it, but one day I decided to come in, and we ordered the crispy hainan chicken, fries, duck bao, and bolsa bao (crispy pork belly). All dishes were incredibly crispy, flavorful, and had a great texture. The sauces with the chicken rice added a nice variety to the dish, and we were very full for two people after the meal. The workers were quick to serve, and food came out in a good amount of time. The restaurant itself didn't have a lot of seating, but it also wasn't very crowded so I think you could sit down and eat fairly quickly
A fun take on bao! Food: Always fresh and prepared well, in particular the duck is really good here (it probably helps that they're right next door to Lien Hoa), but all of their offerings are quite good. Service: Always quick and friendly, and they keep the orders moving! Ambiance: Plenty of indoor seating, and a bit outdoors as well. If you haven't, you should! I'll see you here! :)
Placed in a very crowded plaza, parking is very easy. There's a lot of other restaurants around, and I'm surprised this place isn't more crowded. The place itself is a little small, but it's cozy enough inside to enjoy eating at the place. The service itself is quick and efficient, or maybe it's because one of the owners was literally the person working the cash register. The braised pork belly in the bao felt like it was cooked to perfection. Considering the price, I could've just ordered 2-3 of these and I would have been extremely happy with the meal. The Hainan chicken didn't disappoint either, so if baos aren't enough, the Hainan chicken is worth it. Definitely recommend the boss Bao if you stop by here
hidden little shop in a gg plaza! fun and modern environment with pop/r&b/hip-hop blasting and a simple yet infused menu with Vietnamese/Chinese dishes. Duck Bao & Bolsa Boa were 5/5. Solid slabs of meat, with plenty of sauce and toppings (fresh cucumber). everything tasted fresh, and was prepped quick! Also welcoming service as soon as we walked in the door. would def come back here and recommend. Wish they had a combo or something if you bought 3/5/10 baos or something like that, esp w/a drink!
The bun itself is soft and good. Big portions but I feel as if the meat inside is lacking flavor. We got Steak-the meat quality is good but there wasn't much flavor. BBQ Pork-lacking the flavor on the char sui but with a little hoisin sauce it was good. Duck-this is the one that was really good, the duck flavor, the bun and the fresh cucumbers. Overall, the portions are big and meat filling is generous, bun has a nice texture to it. Located inside the plaza where the Hoa Binh market is.

O R D E R Hainan Chicken (white meat) - WOW on quantity and flavors! Granted I don't go out to get Hainan chicken as much, but this is probably my favorite spot! Crispy Hainan Chicken - My fiance got this one and it was so flavorful (I most definitely snuck a bite) Bolsa Bao - Crispy af!! All the flavors hit the spot. Fish Bao - Best eaten FRESH FRESH when there's still steam coming out of your mouth. So so crispy and flavorful. I appreciate that the bao is still super fluffy. (Obv I need to upgrade my vocabulary here but legit... flavorful + great quantity are prob the best words to describe the food here!!) Upon walking into this place, it felt a little dirty to me. For a place that seems trendy, I would've expected it to look nicer and cleaner. There were a few guys and one girl working behind the counter. We order the salt and pepper wings, pork belly with rice and roasted duck with rice. Salt & pepper wings $5 (4/5) - These came out last, as I assume they are not ordered very often, so they were very fresh. I like to eat fried wings with the rice, and it was good. The sauce it comes with (spicy mayo maybe?) is really good, I ended up dipping my pork belly in it too. Pork belly with rice $8.50 (3/5) - There was so much pork belly in the plate, I had enough leftovers for another meal! It was crispy and fatty and tender all at the same time. Sometimes, it felt like there was too much fat, but that's just what you get with pork belly. The sauce it came with (citrusy sweet soy sauce) was okay. Didn't like it but didn't hate it. I actually liked the wings with the rice better than the pork belly. Roasted duck with rice $8 (4/5) - My boyfriend liked the duck. He said it was moist and they gave a good portion. It went well with the sauce (same sauce as the pork belly). He ended up finishing the whole plate. I think this place could be a lot more appealing if it was cleaner. I would come back to try out their baos, or get some food to go. Other than, I don't think I would dine in here again. read more

I had never had a sandwich like this. I was coming through the area because of work and it looked interesting. I had the beef and pork. The bun is so soft and the meat was so richly flavored. It was everything and more of what I hoped for! Will definitely eat here again next time I'm in town read more

The baos are so delicious! No wait and quick service on a Saturday afternoon. The food looked and tasted awesome! The baos were packed with fillings which made them feel worth the $4 to $4.5 price tag. The Hainan chicken rice was not as great (chicken was juicy and flavorful, but the rice was on the dry side) but maybe that was just today (it's one of my friend's faves). read more

Oiiii, everyone should definitely bow to the BAOS at this place! :) Seriously, if you're hungry and want a scrumptious snack, Baos Hog is definitely the stop to be at. Armed with various options for the bao, Baos Hog does a great job in dressing up the bao (essentially the white bun) with various meats and toppings. My friend and I opted for: Duck, Bolsa (Crispy pork belly), Boss (5 spiced pork belly) and the Cha Siu. Of the 4, the duck and boss = delicious. So so tasty and the meat was tender and savory. I especially love the toppings on the buns that adds the extra ooomph. For us, we came at a non-busy time (aka no line) and the wait time for the food was minimal. For the price of around $4/bao, this wasn't too bad. Eat a couple of these and I am pretty sure you can get full off it if you're not super hungry. So excited to add another place to my list of things to eat when in Caliiiiiiii. Woot woot! read more

This was pretty disappointing. Based on the pictures I was really excited to try this place but it really fell flat. We tried the duck Bao, Bolsa Bao (pork belly), and cow Bao. The cow was probably the best one, the beef was marinated well and reminded me of garlic pepper beef. But I feel like would've been better over rice. The Bolsa was ok, the pork belly was kind of bland and it really just tasted like the pickled vegetables. And the duck was very disappointing. We actually got two (one for each of us) and didn't even finish one. The duck is cut super thick so it was really dry and flavorless. For $5 a Bao, it's a good size but I don't think it's worth going to Garden Grove plaza and dealing with all the crazy terrible drivers. Overall, probably won't be coming back. read more

Finally tried this place and it was pretty good. Didn't give them 4 stars only because the Cow Bao which was tasty had some tough pieces of meat, wish it was softer pieces of meat. Duck Bao was also alittle thick and not easy to eat, but again it was tasty and I'd get it again, but maybe use a knife to slice it up a bit. Roasted Pork rice was excellent, meat was juicy and soft, skin was crispy and very tasty, same with the Char Siu rice, both great. Portions were big, Baos were bigger than I anticipated, I'm used to smaller steamed Bao buns, these were double in size, so a great deal. I'll be back to try a bunch of other things on the menu that sound like they'd be really good too. read more
This place is alright. I went here once when they first opened years ago and again recently. When I walked in there was only 1 other party who were already eating. I walked up to the counter and saw 2 guys working the kitchen. I know they can see me but no one acknowledge me. A 'I'll be right with you' would suffice. Instead they had me wait for a good few minutes before 1 of them came over to ask what did I wanted to order. Not the best service. My friends and I ordered a few things to try. My personal fave was the Bolsa bun where the meat was moist with crispy skin. At $4 per bun, they're not cheap. But they do fill you up. I also liked their loaded fries. The meat they used was very tender but I could've done without the tangy orange sauce. Chicken wings were alright. Overall food and experience wasn't anything special. read more
Wasn't aware of how popular the hainan chicken was and came here on a Saturday evening to discover they were out :( Instead, we got the Roast Pork Belly Rice, the Duck Bao, and the Boss Bao. They were all very tasty. The crispy pork in the Roast Pork Belly Rice was crispy & wasn't dry, and my favorite part of this dish is the sweetish sauce that comes with. The Bao's pleasantly surprised me. At first I didn't understand why a Bao would be over $4, but it is justifiable because they come with a generous amount of protein. The duck was almost bigger than the bun (a tad dry though), and the braised pork in the Boss Bao was over an inch thick. The baos were pretty balanced with the veggies & sauce, and I did not feel overwhelmed by the bun ratio. My favorite item was probably the Boss Bao; the pickled red onion in it added a great touch. read more

Oh boy... maybe I was too excited and expecting too much from this place or maybe I came on off day but Baos Hog to me is not a Bao boss. Sorry. I am an Asian food fanatic and Asian fusion fan but this fusion restaurant fell short of a 4/5 rating. The Cucumber Lemonade was stellar!! Even on a cold day I really enjoyed this drink but the food... my son and I didn't even finish. The Bao bun is too big too cold and too blah. I felt like o was eating a cold sandwich. They tried and almost nailed a good flavor for the beef in the Cow, but the beef was over sauced and cold and rubbery. The flavors in the Bolsa Bao were dingy and the pork was cold. Couldn't eat it after 2 bites. The potstickers were burnt. See picture below. There's nothing I would come back for other than the Cucumber Lemonade but not worth the trouble of finding parking in this shopping center especially with their being so many better options in the area. Bummed. I had high hopes and was craving a delicious Bao. read more

Came here with my friend for dinner. There was no wait when we went, and it was a good alternative choice since the line at both Boiling Point and Boiling Crab were way too long. We had the crispy pork (bolsa), the duck and the braised pork baos. I also had an iced watermelon drink which I thought was quite delicious but it was a bit difficult to get to some of the icier parts by the end. The Bolsa (crispy pork) was by far the best one and was delicious. If you only get one, I would recommend this one as it was perfectly balanced in texture, flavor, and richness. The crispiness paired well with the softness of the bun, and the juicy pickles added a nice kick to the saltiness. The duck and the braised pork however were not that good. The braised pork was just sad, especially after having the crispy pork, and it felt like an unloved version of the popular stewed pork and eggs dish. The duck just wasn't that good, it didn't taste like a freshly roasted duck, and was more like a duck that had been drenched in its sauce for a while. Overall, i'd come here for the Bolsa, but not much else. read more

The guy yesterday did a great job of making my crispy pork belly bao. The pork belly was all meat (not a lot of fat), juicy,and 3/4" thick (unlike previous time). He gave lots of veggies too. This is how quality should be done. I saw they have crispy pork belly bạnh mi. I'll try it one day. Thanks! read more

I am visiting from Texas and will have to admit that Texas does not have a bao place that tastes like this. All the baos were $4-$4.50 and were packed with the protein of order, carrots, cilantro, and pickled vegetables. Each entree was provided with different sauces - duck sauce, citrous sauce and sriracha sauce that provides a unique flavor for each situation. Personal favorite was the citrous sauce which is surprising since I don't like sweet sauces but it was refreshing. I recommend the duck bao! read more

Swung by since I was in the area and wanted something not too unhealthy. The parking lot is a nightmare. There are children running all over the lot. Ordered: Hainan Chicken with white meat. It's the cheapest item at $7.50 (01/28/20) but it looks complete. Chicken was tender. the accompanying sauces and crisp cucumber were well balancedd. It's a great meal well worth the price. I was the only customsr there at 11am on a tuesday morning so it came out in 4 minutes. Score: 5/5 Location: again parking is horrible. The cleanliness of the store is not good. The display glass and doors and walls are all sticky. The is a film all around. I opted to eat in my car instead. Bathroom was okay. I would not sit on the toilet. Score: 1/5 Overall, I would only return if it's an odd time of day and if i am taking the order to go. read more
I have been to this place consistently for 6 years now. I usually just call their phone and put in an order for pick up, and it's always ready by the time I get there. Their service is fast and friendly, in and out within minutes. The food is always so so good and flavorful. The roast pork is obviously the crowd favorite; it's super tender and the skin stays crispy for a long time. The sauce is underated asf!!! I love the pork sauce and the chilli sauce they give you. I don't know what to say. I liked the food and the service was quick, but I didn't order a side of food poisoning. I woke up feeling nauseous. I figured I was just groggy or something. But then I learned it wasn't just me having.. Complaints. My husband and I have been running to the restroom all day with stomach issues. We both ate different food the day before, except for our dinner from here. And because we got a variety of things and shared, we can't even tell you what specifically had made us sick. We got the Pop Chicken, Duck Bao, Cha Sui Bao, Cow Bao, Boss Hog fries and the CinnaBao fries. In general; the bao fillings had great flavor and the bao itself had fluffy and uniform texture. I do wish they were tad smaller, as the amount of bun overshadowed the filling sometimes. Out of the buns, the beef was my favorite. I adored the Boss Hog fries. I've never had cauliflower like that, and would pick that over french fries any day. It was fun to eat. I also really liked the CinnaBao fries. I thought it was really unique and creative. Not overly sweet either, so I didn't feel too guilty about eating all of it myself. However... Like I said, I really wanted to like this place, but I'm not a fan of food poisoning. Being that I don't know which item it was.. I can't trust it, and won't be back. read more
My boyfriend and I ordered the duck bao, the bolsa, the cow and I forgot the last one. I really liked the crispy pork belly in the bolsa but I liked the duck bao over the two I had! The bao wasn't thick or too much. It was enough bao to meat ratio which was nice!! It was a bit messy to eat and oily but what do you expect! The dining area isn't that big so it got packed inside the restaurant pretty fast. read more

08.12.2018 Met my friend here for our monthly Sunday dinner. We came for an early 5:00 pm dinner so there wasn't a line. A young girl at the counter greeted us and had answers to all my friend's questions about sauces, etc. My friend tried the popcorn chicken and rice bowl with sauces in the side and a cow bao (ribeye). The popcorn chicken was fried crispy and seasoned well. I can't place the seasoning flavors but it was good and not spicy. The sriracha mayo did have the spice. I had a duck bao and a cha siu bao. The bao was bigger than I thought. It's a little smaller than a taco so it was quite filling. The meat to bun ratio was perfect. I'm guessing they handmake their bao buns because I've never seen any bao buns that size sold in a store. The cha siu was tender but the flavor was milder than I thought. I was expecting more flavor. The duck bao was good but I was hoping for more flavor also. There was a sauce they gave me and I just added a little to the bao. It added a little more flavor. The watermelon chiller was a perfect drink for this hot summer night dinner. Sweet enough to top off our meal. I would definitely come back for more watermelon chiller! read more

If you're looking for a quick snack or a full meal, I would recommend trying this place! This was my first time here and I wasn't too hungry for a full meal so I decided to just get two baos. I got the duck and bolsa and they were both so good! Super filling as well too because they customize each bao with their own ingredients. They were each almost the size of my hand haha! I think my favorite out of the two was the bolsa because the pork skin was super crispy and it came with cucumber and pickled veggies. I would definitely come back again and try the other bao flavors! read more

This so called "Crispy chicken ride" is the worst of its kind. Do a favor for the customers take it out of your menu. First of all - you don't serve an ENTIRE chicken breast without cutting, ok? You are serving it to human, not wild animal. Second - it's tougher than your normal Costco/Walmart chicken that you left in the fridge for 3 days and reheated in the microwave. It's incredibly dry, no seasoning, and honestly just disgusting. Third - the sauce is some homemade ginger sauce that is over sweet and taste like medicine for children. The rice is ok. Their Pork Bao is not that bad for a take out place. But the chicken belongs to the garbage bin. I'm sorry that just offset anything else and only deserve 1 point. read more

The meat is flavorful and tender. I highly recommend the baos with the right balance of meat, sauce, and toppings. The crispy pork belly was another great dish! The food comes out quick and the servers are friendly. read more

The duck here is absolutely amazing! Maybe it's because I haven't had duck in a while, but the juices + their soy sauce concoction + the tender meat + the delicious glaze on the skin made me believe this is the best duck I've had ever. The rice was okay. I got haiman rice which was supposed to soaked in chicken broth but it tasted like normal rice. My girlfriend got the crispy pork which I got to try a bit of. Still like the duck better as the pork tasted a bit drier but it still had some good salty taste to it! I can't give this place five stars because the haiman rice was disappointing in lieu of what I was expecting and the duck had diminishing returns on how great it tasted as I got to the worse pieces of meat. With that said, I'd still highly recommend coming here for food! We're definitely coming back to try their baos next time! read more
