After Disneyland we found this place located in a plaza with plenty of parking. Upon arrival we did have to put our names down and waited outside. Since this place does get busy. Small little restaurant, but the food was authentic. The outside doesn't have the greatest smell due to sewers water, but food came out fast and the staff were very attentive. The pho broth was seasoned just right, and they had variety of noodles for the pho thin or thick. The only con I did order the short ribs pho just to try, usually I never order this but first for everything. The meat did not feel tender, so I just mainly ate the broth and noodles. My usual pho spot was closed so I cruised here for lunch. Three things I look for that tell me a pho place is good: a busy restaurant, a line outside, and people eating by themselves. This place had all 3, including families and non-Asian people eating as well. I was greeted from the moment I came in. The staff were friendly and most importantly confident in their food. I said it was good, MF said it was great hahaha. I like a little spunk. Probably the best beef broth in OC. Plenty of meat given. You also get a choice of fat or skinny noodles (Northern or Southern style). Really close to the Pho 79 standard that Vietnamese people know. Came here on a Saturday night. We got seated right away. My husband ordered a large pho ($1 more from the small). He got a #1 (combination w/everything - tripe, tendon, brisket, rare steak and well-done flank). The broth was very tasty and not super oily like some other places. There's SO MUCH meat like wayyyy more meat than other places and they give a lot of noodle too! A small size (which, is by no means small) is $13.99 and the large is $14.99 per bowl. The large will give more meat too, not just extra noodle or soup. VERY worth but also a VERY big portion. Also, you can pick your choice of small or big noodles. What was new for me was the 2 FREE items on the menu! Han Dam (pickled onions) and Hanh Tran Nuoc Beo (oil, most likely from the pho broth) really added to the experience. I added the onions and the oil into my bowl of soup and I think it upped the flavor profile for me. The veggies were fresh and they refilled hot tea for us too! The beef balls are also good and bouncy. The only disappointment was the egg rolls. Very small, not worth at all. The filling wasn't good either. I've tried a few pho spots in the Little Saigon area and this is definitely up there on the list. The filet mignon pho is so good! It's made with tender slices of beef, plenty of it too, and the broth is rich without being overly salty. I like that they let you pick between thick or thin rice noodles (I went with thin, and it was perfect). The shrimp spring rolls are also worth ordering. They're fresh, light, wrapped tightly. Pho 45 is another great local pho spot in Garden Grove to go to, especially when other pho places get a huge Sunday lunch rush. There is a quick turnaround time between patrons, and very quick service as well. I've been here multiple occasions, and I always enjoy the egg rolls, spring rolls, and either the pho or the bun thit nuong. Their pho comes out hot and the broth is delicious. Also you can get a side of pickled onions and steamed bean sprouts here too, which is another sign of a great pho restaurant. The interior of Pho 45 is on the smaller side, but most people eat quick here too. The last time that we went, there was some leaks in the roof from the big storms that hit socal, but hope now that it's sunny they don't have anything of the sort anymore. I was also sat down immediately luckily no wait which was exciting for a cold winters night. I got to order pretty quickly too. The tables were large and spacious and the eating environment was calm and not rushed. I got a large bowl with skinny noodles of a pho tai nam ve don. The bowl came out fairly quickly after I ordered and the broth was piping hot I burnt my tongue but no regrets because the broth was so delicious and flavorful. There was a ton of meat and noodles in this large bowl too much I would say and I would get a small next time. This is the spot my family and I constantly come back to for pho! Their spring and egg rolls are always tasty and like always, food comes out QUICK! Even when they're busy I rarely have to wait because of how fast their service + ability to bring out the food is. I also love the fact that they have the option to choose from the skinny or fat noodles since most places only have 1 option. It seemingly feels/tastes authentic but the only downside is there was 1 instance where the noodles came overcooked so it wasn't as pleasant. I sat down and knew what I wanted to order, #7 Pho Tai, Nam Sach (small).The lady who took my order was so sweet... this place focuses on customer service for sure.
