I have wanting to try a bowl of Banh Canh for the longest time and finally pulled the trigger. I saw this place was one of the favorites of many so I thought I'd come here and give it a try. Now it's summer time and the weather is hot and humid but that didn't stop me from having a nice piping hot bowl of soup! I ordered the Banh Canh with crab, shrimp paste, pork, fried fish paste and fried squid paste. At first I wasn't sure what to expect as I never had Banh Canh but I can say it was good. I love the thick consistency and the seafood flavor with the thick noodles. I enjoyed putting some spice and lime to add a little kick. The staff here are friendly and the food comes out quick! But I've also come at times where I assumed it wasn't busy. So I got to enjoy my soup in peace without any large crowds. The restaurant itself has booths all around and tables within the center to accommodate bigger groups. Definitely will be a recurring customer! read more

My daughter was telling how me good this place was and kept asking me to come here with her. So I did. We both ordered #5 Udon with thick broth (Bahn Cahn Hue). The broth was supposed to be made with crabmeat but it didn't taste like it. The udon noodles was so overcooked that it broke in pieces once you pick it up with the chopsticks. So I had to use the soup spoon to pick it up carefully. It supposed to have crab meat in it but I only sound like one long piece of crab meat and four pieces of fried fish paste. At this point, this bowl is just overcooked broken udon and thick cornstarch soup. Also. I wish they would have let customers know they charge $1.50 for iced tap water. I would have just brought my hydroflask inside. Service was not so attentive and you have to pay at the cash register when done. We drove from LA to this place just to have a bad experience. I feel like this place is underrated. Every time my friends and I go it's not that busy. Not sure why because they have the BEST BANH CANH soup in OC, in my opinion. Because of the location there is plenty of options and competition so the food has to be decent. Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork, egg rolls, and cha lua. Cha lua is a spongey pork sausage that my wife normally loves, I liked that it was grill d but it was incredibly salty. Even taking a piece and mixing mgnit with a spring roll to dilute it wasn't enough to calm the saltiness down. Noodles, pork, and egg rolls were fine. Banh Xeo, came soggy defeating the whole point of getting banh xeo. So many local places have the technique down to make this and banh khot nice and crispy. We frequent Hoa Binh when we want a bit of everything. My husband enjoys their pho. Especially when we don't want to wait at Pho 79. He also loves their com tam plates. The canh chua is one of my favorites. It's the right amount of acidity and sweetness. Both shrimp and catfish have been good and they add lots of veggies in the bowl. It's large for the price!
