I haven't been to Sonny's in a long time - 1) there isn't really a nearby convenient location and 2) the prices are a bit more than I like to spend for lunch. Today I was in the area when the promo popped up to join the app and get $5 off. I ordered the big deal combo. My fries were hot and looked good. There was no salt whatsoever but i'm glad because they do that thing where they combine salt and pepper and I really dislike pepper on French fries. My Carolina pulled pork was pretty awful. I kept getting mouthful of tough, charred, chewy meat. So I started tearing pieces off and removing anything that looked like it would be chewy. Lo and behold I find a hair. See photo. The service was great we walked in and was immediately sat. I ordered a Tito's tonic and lime for a drink and we ordered their smoked wings as an appetizer. They came out really fast which was great but we were a bit skeptical. When we tried the wings they tasted old as of they were cooked for a while and just sitting under a heat lamp. They kind of had a rubber taste to them. After ordering our entrees the same happened, the food came out fast which is great! BUT again the food tasted old and a lot drier than from when I've visited here before. The sides, Mac and cheese and baked beans, tasted hot and fresh but the meats, not so much. My mom said her fries were hard and seemed as if they were cooked then re-dropped in the fryer or maybe they were just fried too hard. Our waiter did offer to re make them but my mom declined. Visited on January 17, 2026. Ordered the baby back ribs plate, curbside. The experience was terrible. The garlic bread was sopping wet, tots were soggy and received undercooked baby back ribs, that were not properly wrapped, causing them to sweat all over items in styrofoam box. Coleslaw was leaking out of container. Just sorry and poorly handled, and improperly prepared all around. I did reach out to Sonny's immediately following my visit and the General Manager's response was lackluster. She did not attempt to try and make anything right, just that she would talk to the staff. Hey guys on Saturday Jan 25 I stopped in for lunch at Sonny's. I had to admit this place smells so good walking inside smelling the smoky goodness. I ordered the combo plate with baked beans, potato salad and Mac and cheese. The ribs that came out weren't fresh and had been in the warmer too long. The brisket was good though fresh and juicy. I told my server Shanita who was an awesome server by the way! About my dilemma and about 7 mins later the manager delivered 4 fresh off the smoker ribs to me. Which I feel like I should've gotten in the first place. If it weren't for the brisket and fresh ribs and Shanita I definitely wouldn't go back ... but Shanita turned it around. Solid food, pretty good barbecue and a nice spot to visit; coming from a road trip and visiting plenty of spots across the states I can say that this tops most including the service; Max whom I didn't catch his last name, is a great employee who treats all customers with great hospitality and respect. I placed an order on door dash and they literally put my food in an opened card board box! They didn't put it in a plastic bag secured and tighten up. The food was literally opened to the dasher where he could've ate, touched, and contaminated my food. I called to speak to the manager Ladreka and she said that they were out of big bags. Then she said just to contact door dash to get a full refund and acted like she didn't even care. The brown box they put my food in was filthy, dirty, nasty, had food all over it, and looked like it was taken out of a garbage can. This was unethical, a health hazardous, unsanitary, and very careless. I will never patronize this place again. read more

An off night at Sonny's last night. We had a party of eight for dinner. The waitress took our drink order and after we all had our drinks she said that they were out of ribs, turkey, pulled pork, onion rings, and more. Should have started with that. We ordered what they did have but quality was not there. Two children who had kids sandwich which they have had several times said it didn't taste right and wouldn't eat the meat. It was an hour and a half before closing but they should have gone ahead and locked the door. It'll be a while before I go back. You can join Sonny's email club. For your birthday, you get a free Big Deal combo. You can choose between a pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, turkey, or a steak burger combo. You get to choose 1 free side in the combo. A few options are crinkle fries, baked beans, mac n cheese, or few other options. You also get a large drink. Drinks like tea, lemonade, or a soft drink option. I went with pulled pork, crinkle fries, and sweet tea. You also get to decide on a bun or garlic bread for the sandwich. My pulled pork was plain and to choose bbq sauce. There was decent amount pork on sandwich. I went with the sweet "gold standard" bbq sauce. It was pretty good. Fries were in a bag tied close. The fries were plain crinkle fries with no seasoning or anything. I added little salt and pepper. The sweet tea was on point. I love a good sweet tea and not too much ice in the cup. We went to Sonny's BBQ in Marietta for Father's Day. My dad loves the ALL YOU CAN EAT ribs, brisket and chicken plate. My hubby and I enjoyed the food at the location on Tara Blvd recently, so we decided to give them another shot since the location was closer to my dad. We had a party of 5 (my dad, step mom, son, hubby and me) We had to wait about 25 minutes to be seated, which is not bad for our party size or Father's Day. I recommend that you arrive at 11 AM when they open if you do not want to wait on weekends. Once seated, we had a friendly server that was attentive and she remembered things well although the restaurant was extremely busy. It took a while to get our food and three of us ordered some sort of "ALL YOU CAN EAT" variation, so it took a while for reorders to come out as well. The food was good, although some items needed salt. The ribs were delicious. I loved the pulled pork with their sweet bbq sauce, and my sweet potato was perfection. The brisket was tender, but bland. The coleslaw was good, but needed a touch of salt. The green beans were in need of salt as well. The cornbread was okay and the garlic Texas Toast was yummy. Overall, we enjoyed lunch and my dad was very happy. Hubby and I said we may take the drive to the Tara BLVD location next time. Different chefs and different seasoning. read more

I'd like to start by saying that going to Sonny's for lunch with coworkers used to be our favorite part of Friday. The staff knows us and always gives us special attention. We were moving offices and were unable to come to Sonny's for a few months. Today the boss decided we needed a special treat and asked me to pick up a to go order. We ordered 5lb pulled pork, a quart of green beans and slaw, and an order of lunch ribs with sides and corn bread. I can't even tell you the disappointment I feel especially after talking everyone at work to order from Sonny's and not Pig n Chick. My ribs were pathetic. All bones, virtually no meat. It seems the cornbread recipe also changed. Not the same texture or taste like what I'm used to. I was so excited to finally get some Sonny's and it feels like triple the letdown. Took forever to pick up the order, the ribs were inedible and cornbread was dry and tasteless. The check was $120 ish and we could've gotten way better food for that elsewhere. read more

While I usually stray from putting too much into chain restaurant reviews, I definitely felt the need to highlight this Sonnys location for a few reasons! This particular location is on South Cobb Drive, sitting in front of the Lowes/Walmart just about a few hundred yards from the Big Chicken. Cleanliness wise, this location is by far one of the best I have been to. In addition to the cleanliness and overall great condition of the place, their service is always on point! Upon entry, we normally get seated right away. This is followed by being waited on almost immediately and this continues through out the meal, the wait staff is always friendly, courteous and attentive. While the service is always great, I come back to Sonnys for the food...and sweet tea! I usually go with a sampler platter of some variety, it's really the best option for price. While the meats are where it's at for Sonnys, their sides are what really makes it for me. I mean, them corn nuggets y'all!?! Those things are everything to me and may or may not be one of the main reasons I return to Sonnys so often. Overall, Sonnys is a solid staple in the BBQ game and I am certainly a fan! read more

Went by Sonny's to pick up ribs, chicken and turkey. I ordered each by the pound. This Sonny's had always been a good choice over the years. But not this time. The chicken and turkey were okay, but the ribs were awful. I ordered the St. Louis with supposedly with some sauce on them. That was a BAD choice. When I got home and tried the ribs, they were dry, tough, and lacked all flavor. There was no taste of the sauce nor was there a flavor and or aroma of any smoke. Called the restaurant and the manager agreed to replace them if I brought them back. Arrived back at the Sonny's and the manager replaced with a new batch of ribs. This time I chose the dry rub version. When she showed me the new batch, they looked a little better, but you could still see that they were still dry. There was also some type of seasoning sprinkled on top. I didn't get that. I decided I would take those home and try them anyway. Another bad choice. I should have left the ribs and tried something else. They were dry, lacked flavor and seemed as if they were a day old. In reading some of the recent reviews, looks like this Sonny's is having some issues and challenges with the ribs lately. The only issue was a lady dragging and apparently straightening chairs the whole time we were there. If they are going to do that they should put rubber or something on the bottom of the chairs.
