    Eating Music City E.

The smell hits you when you pull into the parking lot, there's BBQ here for sure. While the smell permeates the air, my mouth began to salivate before heading inside. From the look of the building and restaurant I expected to find a host inside and was thrown off when I realized it was a counter service quick dining restaurant instead. It was unexpected, but nothing to be upset at. The interior reminded me of the interior of a Logan's Roadhouse with tables, chair, walls, and column all made of polished wood with grain visible throughout. Very southern, very country, very fitting. Behind the counter is a digitalized menu, with so much on it I was overwhelmed at first glance. I told the employee it was my first time and just got what she recommended so I didn't have to look at that digital mess of screen again! Upon recommendation we got the 2 Meat Sampler plate with Pulled BBQ Chicken and BBQ Pork, with Mac and Cheese and Potato Salad as our sides. Also included was a piece of fried cornbread (imagine a cornbread pancake). Not a bad meal for two for $14.95 The food was out and to us quickly, and served in a white styrofoam box (a COVID-19 precaution). You can see the usual sleek metal trays the food is served on in pictures from other reviewers. Time to eat! First thing I scarfed down was the BBQ Pork. The pork was served plain without any sauce smothering it, but was accompanied with several types of BBQ sauce that was available: Carolina, Sweet, and Mild (others were available behind the counter as well) The pork was tender, and juicy, and the portion size (of all the food) was good. However, I want my pork to fall apart in my mouth and just melt like butter. This pork lacked that distinctness I look for in pork, and could have used some flavoring to accompany it other than sauce. The chicken was not my favorite. It was a pulled chicken, but texturally and visually the chicken didn't look or feel as pulled as one may expect. It was clumpier than the pork when I expected a similar look. Unlike the pork this did come pre-smothered in some type of sauce. Unfortunately, the sauce was overly sweet and way too powerful to make me want more than a forkful or two of the chicken. I am a Mac and Cheese snob, and it really showed while eating this Mac and Cheese. The only way I can think to describe it is as watered down Kraft. The cheese had very little flavor and the only little bit of flavor I could find just tasted like watery cheese sauce. The pasta was well cooked but with that unpleasant cheese water taste just made the entire thing feel squishy and wet in the mouth. If I hadn't been so hungry I wouldn't have eaten much of it. The cornbread was unique and loved how it is served in a pancake like form. But just imagine eating the driest pancake you've ever had. Cornbread is a hard thing to get right, and I understand that. But it should be crumbly without being dry and with each bite of this cornbread pancake I felt like I had eaten sand in a desert and not any amount of water would ever be able to quench my thirst. For somewhere I thought was going to be a more middle of the road sit down restaurant, I can summarize that the Bar-B-Cutie chain is simply a fast food BBQ joint, and tastes about as good as you could expect for such a place. But when you add on the price surge of BBQ on top of what you'd normally pay for fast food, the food just doesn't meet the standard.

I saw this little spot on the way to my hotel and I decided to stop by. I was in the mood for chicken and I was hoping that they had a half chicken which they didnt. They had a drive thru which I was happy about. When I got my platter I was not happy wowwed at all. There was nothing to write home about. The mac and cheese was meh, my chicken was overcooked and dry. The baked beans were decent. The best part was the Johnny cake corn bread. Overall this was okay, but missed the mark in several areas. Would I return...not at all.

Pit master certified brisket plate. For toddlers?

Just skip it. The portions given don't come close to matching their prices. There's better barbecue in all 4 directions away from Bar-B-Cutie. If I'm paying $35 for it meal, it better not look child's sized. No one pays for tiny plates for pit master meals. The flavor.... Just ok. The value and quantity is too low for ok food. Brisket: Dry, flavorless... Needs more smoke and seasoning. There is so little... See pic. I do like their chili and corn bread. But again.... Why pay for ok? It's fine. Not good, great, no delicious.... Just meh...

My husband and I came here excited to try some authentic Tennessee BBQ and everything was honestly so good. I got the brisket with baked beans and mac & cheese, while my husband got the chicken with green beans and baked beans. First off... the brisket was SO tender and juicy. It paired perfectly with the BBQ sauce and those baked beans? OH MY GOD. The baked beans were seriously the star of the meal for me.. sweet, smoky, flavorful, and completely addicting. I could've eaten a whole bowl by myself The mac & cheese was also creamy and delicious, just solid comfort food all around. My husband loved his chicken too. Super juicy, flavorful, and not dry at all which is always a win with BBQ chicken. I also tried the Tennessee Sour and let me just say... they do not play around with drinks out here It was really good, but one more and I probably would've been done for the night lol. The hospitality here was amazing. Everyone was so kind, welcoming, and helpful which made the experience even better. Definitely a spot we'd come back to anytime we're in Nashville again. We also got pecan pie and fudge pie. The pecan was ok, but the fudge pie was gritty and pastie. We also got a root beer which was flat. We asked the guy who brought our food if we could get it replaced and he just stood there like he didn't understand. Then said I don't know and walked away. Terrible experience. So sad.

I had a taste for brisket, but wasn't sure of either option available. I pulled the trigger on Edley's and it said the restaurant was closed. Bummer. What was I doing ordering brisket AND a salad at closing time. My expectations were low. I watched the app as they prepared the order (quickly) and the driver (also quickly) arrived to pick it up. Upon opening the bag, I expected the worse of all things. Closing time, a BBQ restaurant that I've never eaten at and salad. Not exactly the recipe for success. The salad was one of the best salads that I've ever had - fresh, select greens, firm veggies, delicious croutons.. I thought "ok, at least the salad is good, if the brisket isn't ". I opened the foil to find 2 nicely sized slices of brisket. I couldn't help but to notice how subtle but effective the smoke profile was. The more of it I ate, the more I could tell that it was smoky and tender and just flat out solid! My expectations were greatly exceeded. I even reached out to a manager (I don't remember the gentleman's name) to tell him of the great job his closing staff did on preparing the salad and the brisket. This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. A bit mild for the serious hot chicken fans, but the flavor is there. The chicken tenders are fairly standard. And the crinkle fries are mid. I enjoyed both of the drinks. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. My kids played outside while we waited for our food, but the food came out quickly. The kids' meals are some of the best values in town. One tip: the bun on the kids' cheeseburger is huge compared to the patty. I asked if they could add an extra patty, and they did for just $1. After removing some of the bun, it made for a much better burger and still kept the meal incredibly affordable. The spicy chicken tacos are also some of the best tacos in town.
