They took time answering questions and were just genuinely sweet people. I ordered the sampler platter which had pretty much every meat they offer except for the ribs. We also ordered "da bombs" (brisket stuffed jalapeños wrapped in bacon). I don't eat jalapeños, but these....these were on a completely different level. The bacon was so dang flavorful to start with and cooked perfectly. I thought it was going to be either tough or too flimsy, but it was just dang perfect!!! I eliminated both of mine within 5 mins. So dang good. Next, the sampler came out and it was loaded. Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey and chicken. Everything was juicy and flavorful. I thought the pulled pork could have just a bit more spice, but overall, everything was great. For the love of Pete....when you go, get the sweet potato's. I couldn't stop eating them. Disappointing and underwhelming barbecue. Wouldn't recommend to anyone I know. Had the brisket, sausage, Mac, and cream corn. Each one wasn't quite right. The brisket and the Mac were both dry and the sauces were no good. The dining room is cute, and the music was nice--when ads weren't playing. I think it was smoked too fast. The skin was Iike leather. Also lacked any spice. It was severely under seasoned and could have used some type of brine. The sides were fantastic! The brisket beans were better than good. Just a tad under seasoned as well, but the brisket keeps it from being a disappointment. The cream corn was not that can type consistency nor flavor. I don't usually like getting macaroni because more often than not it's disappointing. This was actually good, but the favorite was the green beans. Excellent texture, perfect seasoning, and just a great representation of what it should be! Besides the chicken being disappointing, the bbq sauce was by far the worst one we've had in a while. It was way too sweet. I swear it seemed like they may have used chamoy in the sauce. I say it as a joke, but we couldn't figure out why it was so sweet and vinegary at the smart time. Also, they gave us exactly three slices of pickle and exactly two onion rings in each plate. I guess cost cutting maybe the reasoning. Then our small to go order was packed with pickles and onions. I made a reservation for my company party with Karina on a Friday to reserve a room and food. I went in asking what do you offer, what is available to me. She was kind and professional, provided information. She took my order ahead of time to make sure we had our food reserved for that day. I was given the option to pay now or later; ok I'll pay later just in case I add more food or people. On Tuesday I received a call from the female owner, who wanted to confirm my reservation as they had other people asking about the room, but also, they would be adding 15% gratuity to my bill. Ok, sure I get it. Then Saturday, 4 hours before my party owner called again, asking if I was still coming because I had not paid yet and there may not be enough food. Like what???? Just rude and condescending as if it were my fault. I said I was given the option. She said - well that's not our policy. I said - did I speak with you on Tuesday and she said yes, well you could have told me that then, but you sure told me about the gratuity that you were adding to the bill you knew I had not paid yet. I would have paid Friday, and I would have paid Tuesday if that was your policy. But you never said anything. I couldn't understand her reason for being so rude as if it was my fault. The start of her conversation could have gone so differently. I own a business and understand policies, but customer service is important. I cancelled my room and continued with my food for pick up instead, because I'm not one to commit to something and not follow thru. But we will not be visiting again. Had been to the old location and wasn't that impressed. Came tonight (Friday, August 8, 2025) with a friend about 5:15pm. When we pulled in the parking lot (which was fairly full) my friend asked a customer leaving how good it was. He says he comes frequently and it's good. We walked in and there was stock stacked up against a wall but it was not bad just added to the decor which was old Texas with cow skins on the wall and checkered table clothes. We went up to the counter and were greeted warmly. She was very patient as we decided on what to have. My friend got the 1lb ribs plate with coleslaw and sweet potato casserole. I got the brisket (1/4 pound) with the cream corn and beans. We also ordered two beverages. They gave us our cups and a beeper. We were told when the beeper went off our food would be brought to us. We went and got our drinks and there was a nice variety. I had a tropical punch and my friend had a lemonade (the punch was tasty). While we were getting our drinks a server handed us napkins, straws and utensils. When the beeper went off she brought our food and asked if we wanted BBQ sauce (spicy or regular) we chose regular cause we are whimpy. The ribs were meaty and delicious. The meat didn't fall off the bone, but pretty close. The brisket was tender and the smoke ring was very visible. We both did like the ribs better, but would get the brisket again. The sides... yummylicious!!!!!! The sweet potatoes casserole was sweet without being cloying and had pecans. The coleslaw was wet which I like and just the right about of sweet. The brisket beans had a smoky flavor w/bits of meat and the cream corn was seasoned well. And all portion sizes were generous. I am not disappointed at all about this meal (which also came with 2 slices of white bread, dill pickle chips and pickled onions) and so glad I gave them another chance. Well worth it! Most Disappointing BBQ Experience I've Ever Had - Poor Service & Even Worse Attitude Today I had what I can only describe as one of the most frustrating and disappointing dining experiences I've ever had, and unfortunately, it was at Republic Barbecue on Military Drive in South San Antonio. I pulled up to the window and was greeted by a young lady. I proceeded to place a sizable order--three full plates with sides--and asked if all of the sides could be combined into one container. A simple request, but it seemed to throw the entire operation off. Still, I paid nearly $100 expecting quality food and service. After waiting about 20 minutes, I was handed two small containers: one with a small amount of bread and the other containing the meat. That's it. For just under $100, I received two small sausage links (cut up) and maybe 1.5 lbs. of sliced brisket--definitely not reflective of the price or what was advertised. When I politely asked if this was the full order, the young woman immediately became defensive and raised her voice. I tried to remain calm and asked for a refund, at which point she became irate and said she didn't know how to process one--telling me to "trust her" and that I'd get my money later. That alone was unacceptable. What made the situation worse was her aggressive demeanor--condescending, loud, slamming the service window, and ultimately threatening to call the authorities when I never once raised my voice. I even requested that she step away so we could de-escalate, but she continued to dominate the conversation with hostility, completely uninterested in resolution. Eventually, I believe the owner stepped in. I've met him and his wife before and genuinely think they are good people trying to run a family business. But allowing someone--potentially a family member--to speak to paying customers this way is a serious liability. She seemed more focused on "winning" the argument than listening, apologizing, or trying to make things right. Siding with your family in the course of building something may not always be right. What could have been a teachable moment and an opportunity for growth turned into an unprofessional, uncomfortable, and unnecessarily hostile interaction. To the owners: If you care about your business, I sincerely hope you take this review to heart. Good food is nothing without good people. Right now, that imbalance is hurting your brand more than you realize. You've built something that could grow tremendously--but only if the right people are at the front representing your name with respect and professionalism, and patience. read more

It was our first time here and we were super excited to try their food. We placed our order and when the food came out, it wasn't what we had ordered. So my husband went back to the pickup window to let them know it was wrong. This little woman came out with a big attitude asking what the problem was. My husband tried explaining and was cutoff. She asked for the receipt and pointed out that we were given what we paid for. We tried explaining that, as this may be true, it's not what we ordered. She pointed the blame on us for not reviewing our order before we paid. Which, ok to some extent may have been true. But the way she approached it, was completely unacceptable. She wasn't really helpful and not really concerned about keeping our business. So my husband asked for a refund. He went up to the counter with her while I gathered our son and his things. When I got to the counter, she was placing the cash on the counter. I asked, "so just to be clear, you're saying this is the customer 's fault?" She said, "that's not what I said" and told me to lower my voice, which was in a conventional tone and nothing more. In the same tone, I said, "ma'am you just said we should have reviewed our receipt. So doesn't that mean it's our fault?" My husband had picked up and started counting the bills. She said "take your money and leave" and walked away. There was a pile of coins on the counter, I guess thought she was being cute by giving us a bunch of dimes and instead of quarters. I pushed the coins to her side of the counter, after all, I did take a sip of the soda. She yelled for someone to call security as we were already walking out the door. She followed us outside as we were getting in our vehicle to take a picture of our license plate. She yelled that she had me on video. My biggest pet peeve is bad service and let me tell you, this is the worse ever! My blood was boiling. She didn't just ruin my dining experience, she ruined my whole appetite. Too bad cause the food smelled delicious when we walked in, but the service is honestly the biggest factor and this place just doesn't have it. Honestly, they don't even deserve 1 star read more

The brisket and ribs had no hint of smoke flavor seemed to be reheated in the oven. We were driving back home and were crazing some bbq. We hadn't even noticed this bbq station until we took out exit.... We'll we are so happy we happened to see it because we were not at all disappointed. They have a great selection of meats and sides but we only wanted beef but ended up grabbing ribs and sausage. The brisket was sliced thick, it was juicy and very tender. The pork ribs were also tender and had a delicious smoke flavor. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to take a picture of the sausage because it didn't make it long enough to photograph. Lol!
