I knew that while visiting Texas, I had to have BBQ at least once. Since I could not drive to my regular place (I used to live in SA), I decided to visit the County Line on the River Walk. After we arrived, we were greeted right away and they did not make us wait until everyone arrived to seat us. They had a large selection to choose from which is always helpful. The drinks were nice and cold (always a good thing in Texas). The food came out at a reasonable time. Overall, the food was pretty good. Location is great. I did feel like the seating along the river is a little tight. There people at the table behind us kept bumping into me. And the bricks under the table were extremely uneven, which made our table not sit straight. Service was great, no complaints there. So we were looking for some barbecue that was nearby and this location was close to us. While it didn't have the best reviews we decided to give it a chance We were seated inside, and I decided to have the loaded baked potato with pulled pork. Potato was great, pulled pork was really good even though I will say visually this is not what you think of when you think of pulled pork. Quite frankly when they first brought it out, I actually thought it was curry. My husband got the plate with ribs, lean brisket, pulled pork, and for sides, he got the collard greens and the potato salad. The brisket was pretty dry and the ribs had a weird seasoning to them, which he honestly just couldn't get past and didn't end up eating much of them. Pulled pork wasn't to his liking. He just didn't like the flavor of it . Collard greens are pretty good. They definitely had a lot of heat to them and potato salad was good although they are heavy on the dill pickle side. Place was pretty busy for a Monday night in February, but the weather was perfect, so we sat outside on the patio for a quick bite. I had an order of wings and a Lone Star. Never judge a book by its cover. Chat GPT said the best margarita on the Riverwalk is at Boudro's. But we got turned away by some kid at Boudro's who said it would be a 30 minute wait for us just literally right after he sat some people. (It must have been my 3 day old beard.) I did a little homework about San Antonio and picked with restaurant with high expectations on BBQ. Food - disappointed! I ordered three meat combo with smoked 1/4 chick with the leg and thigh ( tasted like chewing wax, dry and not much smoke flavor ). The prime cut, it was ok, definitely on the dry side even I picked the not lean part. The ribs, oh no, it tasted like jerky with lots of fat. The side dish, bean and vegetables of the day, both look and taste are like the can food. The only thing did not disappointed was the "famous house made bread" -- if you have sweet tooth like mine, it looks like sourdough but tastes sweet , warm and spongy, also went very well with the honey butter the restaurant served. The restaurant located along the river walk, nice to see the boats and river swimming by, but be cautious of flies, pigeons and other bugs might attracted by your food. The waitress I had was really nice to bring me a big fan to keep those bugs away, which attracted lots of attention, quite useful for flies but not to the bees/ wasps.
