I wish I could remember his name, but I brought my baby with me and when he was throwing a fit, my server handled the situation with such calm and understanding. Because of my beautiful little fit-thrower, I did leave early however I was still able to get a little nibble of my food before we took it to go. For my drink, I ordered the "Waaaay South" cocktail. Let's just say it had me waaaay tipsy (positive). For starters, I had the fried green tomato salad, crab cake, and Jamie's cornbread. Everything was good, but I have to highlight the Jamie's cornbread. It was so moist and melt in your mouth, honey. For my entrée, I had shrimp and grits and it was okay. I also want to mention that everyone working in the restaurant was friendly, which really added to the overall experience. I only have two suggestions: * The bathrooms need better lighting. I ordered a drink and I guess the bartender never made it so I asked her to cancel the drink after 10-15 mins. This was also during the time she was talking in the corner with the coworker. The food and drinks were good. I would go back and since this is an happy hour event that attends frequently. It wasn't crowded when we arrived shortly after 8am, so we were seated right away. The space is large with a combination of booths, tables, and a counter - very typical diner. There was a hint of retro vibes here, and as a whole the space looked great. Like many a diner, the menu is extensive with a variety of cuisines. The breakfast selections were pretty standard, but we noticed they offered some specials on weekdays that consisted of a breakfast dish, coffee, and juice. We all decided to order a special - and I went with the jack cheddar cheese omelette. I had a choice of meat to add (I went with sausage), and the dish also came with hash browns and a biscuit. The food itself was good - solid diner fare. The reason why I'm giving such a low rating is that there were major breakdowns in service. Coffee service was relatively slow, we did not get any juice nor were we asked to order it despite being part of the specials we ordered, my colleague wasn't offered any breakfast meat with her dish despite it being advertised as it being included, and my dish was served with a side of fruit instead of hash browns. These were fixed, but there was just a multitude of misses that really impacted the meal. Perhaps we came on a bad morning, but my experience at Silver Diner wasn't the best. I would consider giving them another shot, but I'm not running back.
