It's Back! Green Goddess Lobster Salad

We went to the Silver Cafe a second time...this time for a late dinner. The food was delicious. Our waitress this time was not as efficient as our last waiter. The diner was beautiful as ever and was perfect for a late dinner.

I was in town for a book festival and stopped through for an energizing breakfast before a long day. I was pleasantly surprised by the options for me as a gluten free pescetarian. I had avocado toast with gluten free bread along with some eggs and fruit. The price was a little high but the breakfast was indeed filling and good. I also didnt love the speed of service but I get that it was a busy Saturday morning. I'd return for sure and try something else. Maybe a cute mimosa flight next time when I'm not so busy!

Great breakfast experience at the Silver Diner at National Harbor! We were able to walk in around 8am on a Friday morning. Perfect timing apparently because when we left there was a line waiting about 10 deep. Our waitress was pleasant and professional. She took our beverage orders quickly and returned to take our meal orders. There were 6 of us. Our meals came out pretty fast and everyone's order was accurate. The prices were reasonable. I think I expected a markup because of the location. There were even specials on the menu. Okay. I had Belgium waffle, bacon and eggs. While it wasn't life changing...it was delish. My meal was fresh and hot upon arrival to the table. I love that it was nicely plated with garnishes. A little fancy! Anyway we were pleased with our dining experience here and will definitely go back when we're in the area again.

I got crab and corn chowder and the warm roasted veggie salad. They were both just what I wanted. I also added Maryland to my quest to drink a local beer in each state. I wish there'd been something on draft like the menu implied. Service was okay. It took a bit before anyone acknowledged me at the table and the server seemed confused when I asked what was on draft.

Silver Diner is located at the main entrance of National Harbor, in what was the former Elevation Burger. Interior is surprisingly large and even with this space, there was a 15-minute wait due to a large event happening in the harbor, so I decided to sit at the counter. Menu is reasonably extensive and includes all-day breakfast. I ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast with and coffee, which arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The eggs and coffee were average, with the bacon being good and the sausage link was thick. Home fries came with caramelized onions that were a pleasant surprise. Pancakes came with warm syrup. Service was good, and overall, this was a decent stop, with the biggest problem being the price. With tip my breakfast ended up being almost $30 and that's high even for this area. Would I return here? Possibly.

Brunch all day at Silver Diner absolutely delivered! The mimosa flight made with sparkling wine was FIRE -- refreshing, smooth, and beautifully presented with flavors that actually tasted distinct instead of watered down. A perfect brunch starter and definitely Instagram worthy. The food was equally impressive. The pancakes were buttery, soft, and literally melted in your mouth with every bite. Eggs were fluffy, bacon had that perfect crisp, and the breakfast potatoes were seasoned and cooked just right. Portions were generous without sacrificing quality. The atmosphere was clean, modern, and comfortable with a great brunch vibe. Most importantly, the staff was awesome -- friendly, attentive, and kept the energy upbeat throughout the visit. Silver Diner proved that brunch doesn't have to be complicated to be memorable. Great drinks, great food, and great hospitality all around. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

Breakfast was just ok this visit . I felt like it was a waste of money. The pancakes were dry and almost seemed like they came out of the freezer and went into the toaster over. The fruit was fresh and sweet but the only thing that was good to me were the eggs and bacon. The bacon was the star of the show. It had a maple sweetness to it and it was cooked to perfection. My potatoes were sorta dry-and overloaded with green onions. My waiter was pretty nice and attentive, she kept my water refills coming so I didn't want to give her a hard time. I don't know if it was a bad morning, or if this is the norm for them but I don't know if I'll be back anytime soon. But give them a shot, might be your lucky day.

I came to visit the national harbor, and my family decided to stop by Silver Diner for a quick bite. The service was very nice, friendly and quick. They were able to accommodate my entire family (10 of us) into one table. The ambiance was very nice, mellow and cozy. As for the food, it was very delicious. My entire family enjoyed what they had. Our waiter was very kind! I had the tuna melt, and it was delicious! The toast itself was very warm and toasty. I also had some of my mom's açaí bowl and it was so yummy. Overall, everything was great, from the food down to the service! Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

They got it right!!! We were seated in what I call the VIP section. There's a few tables in the back by the bar which I thought might be a different place at first but I was happy to sit there. What they got right, almost everything but especially the volume on the music. The volume is the best I've ever heard anywhere anytime in life (at an establishment). And it may have just been me but the playlist was personal. I wasn't in my feelings or anything like that but it was my kind of music. Definitely had a Gen X vibe going. There are few things that have yet to miss at SD. 1. Mimosa & 2. Iced Tea. Both of these are always on point and I thank you for your consistency. What is a hit or miss is the chicken sausage. Often it's dry, mostly bc there's less fat in chicken but it is never bad. The food overall was good so there was no complaint there. The only complaint I have is how long it took to get service once seated. I can't really complain about how long it took to get a seat because it is the holidays and people gotta eat and there aren't a lot of full breakfast places here so I expected the wait to be seated. I didn't expect the wait for service to be as long as the wait to be seated. In their defense, there were only two people working the whole bar area. That's the bar which was packed and the restaurant part of the bar area. All-in-all it was a good experience and I will be back so...

My turkey club and onion rings were very good. The egg rolls appetizer was not good and the Pastrami Rueben was a bit fatty. Nice waiter. Open late.

After checking out of the hotel Sunday morning, we had a late breakfast at Silver Diner. There was about a 45 minute wait for 2 for inside seating. We were seated in about 35 minutes! Once we were seated it took a little bit for someone to come to our table with water and ask for our drinks, so we made sure we knew everything we wanted to ask for at one time. We ordered our meals and they came out in a decent amount of time for how crowded it was. We both enjoyed our meals. I loved that they had healthy options. Silver Diner is spacious, with indoor and outdoor seating, lots of tables and booths. They even have an area with seating near the kitchen, kind of set up like a bar. The service was pretty good and they did great getting us in and out despite how crowded it was.

At first, I wasn't sure it was going to be enough food for two people, but I was definitely wrong! They started us off with four fried wings and the fried green tomato salad. The wings were really good, and the dressing on the salad was delicious. The fried green tomatoes were so good, I could have eaten the whole plate by myself! Then the Mac and cheese came out, followed by the catfish and chicken and waffles. By the time everything hit the table, we were stuffed! We did order an additional order of wings because they were so good. Everything else was good as well, and the presentation of the food was really nice. Everything came out looking appetizing and well put together. Our server, Niecy, was very nice and attentive. She made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. I also want to mention that everyone working in the restaurant was friendly, which really added to the overall experience. I only have two suggestions: * The bathrooms need better lighting. I felt like I was using the bathroom in the dark! * I think they should give you more than four wings for two people with the family-style meal, especially since the wings were so good. Overall, we had a really good experience. The food was good, the portions were filling, the presentation was great, and the staff was friendly. I would definitely go back! I'm glad we decided to give this place a try because it really is a hidden gem.

AB (I think was his name) was an AMAZING host (not the server). He sat me at my table and I immediately asked him for recommendations. He recommended the Dirty Chicken. After some back and forth discussion about the 4 pieces the normal DC order came with, he mentioned I could order a kids DC so I could have room for a starter. He was just really great working with me to help figure out what I should order. I did get charged for a full order that I didn't catch until after I got back to the hotel . AB and the manager brought out my food and Riesling and it wasn't until after I started eating that I saw my server, Misha. She was great as well. Very nice, accommodating and attentive. Service def 5/5. Even tipped AB separately because he went above and beyond as a host by helping me decide what to order. He had good knowledge about the menu! The Dirty Chicken was some of the best FC I've ever had! I normally don't order chicken at restaurants because it often comes out dry but not here! It was perfectly fried, extra crispy and gochuchang sauce with blue cheese and pickled onions was such a surprising and delicious pairing!!! ABSOLUTE MUST TRY and would go back again for just this. The chicken was juicy and presented well. There was enough pickled onions and clue cheese and sauce to enjoy with every bite and you should def have some of each with every bite to get the full flavor experience. I also had the pork belly SSAMs. There were 4 with one slice of perfectly cooked crispy and juicy slice of pork belly with kimchi cucumbers and daikon underneath served on butter leaf lettuce leaves. They came with a citron tea BBQ sauce to drizzle over the pork belly and again...surprised at the flavor combination! Very, very delicious. It got kind of messy eating them as wraps so after the second one just ate with a fork instead. Another dish that requires you to get a little bit of everything in every bite to appreciate the creative fusion of flavors. The Riesling was a good pairing for those entrees/starters. I ordered the Sweet Potato Pie stuffed crispy waffle to go since it was closing time (and I was pretty full) by the time I got to dessert and omg did that hit when I tried it back at the hotel. The waffle was still perfectly crispy and an ASMR dream! The stuffed waffle wasn't very sweet at all but you had the option of dipping in the caramel sauce, syrup and whipped cream to customize your sweetness level. By far one of the best desserts I've had in a restaurant! If I ever come back it would def be for the Dirty Chicken and this dessert!

My wife and I arrived around 1:20 p.m. on a Thursday. The lunch crowd was still going strong, which only reinforced that we had picked a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. When we walked in, there was no hostess to be found. After waiting about four minutes, she finally appeared and offered us a choice between a small table in the corner or one by the bar. Given how busy the restaurant was, we took the table by the bar. About seven minutes later, someone finally came by to offer us water and explained that our server was busy, but she would help us in the meantime. No problem. We ordered the Avo Goddess Salad and asked that it be split so we could share it. A few minutes later, our server arrived, introduced herself, and we let her know we had already ordered the salad and were ready to place our lunch orders. She was very helpful in guiding my wife toward the Old Bay Shrimp Burger. I was excited to order the Shrimp and Grits until I learned it contained Andouille sausage and, according to our server, couldn't be prepared without it. Since the restaurant highlights that everything is made from scratch, that surprised me. I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Salad instead. So far, so good. Then came the frustration. We spent the next 20 minutes slowly picking at our salad, growing increasingly hungry and confused. You know something is wrong when guests who were seated after you begin receiving their meals before you. Finally, at 2:10 p.m., our food arrived: my Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pulled Lamb Sandwich for my wife. Except my wife had ordered the Shrimp Burger. When we pointed out the mistake to what was now our third server, she quickly assured us it would be corrected. A few minutes later, our original server returned and took full responsibility. She explained that the lamb and shrimp items are next to each other in the POS system and she accidentally selected the wrong item. She assured us the Shrimp Burger would be out in two minutes and suggested we enjoy the fries that came with the lamb sandwich while we waited. Unfortunately, another ten minutes passed before the burger finally arrived. Here's where things became truly disappointing: the top bun was still cold--almost frozen. My wife ended up removing it entirely and eating the sandwich with just the bottom bun. At best, the Shrimp Burger was decent, but certainly not worth the wait and frustration. As for my Ahi Tuna Salad, it felt like something I could easily make at home, especially considering the $25 price tag. I'm also not entirely convinced the tuna was particularly fresh. I can't bring myself to give Matt and Tony's one star because the atmosphere is genuinely cool and inviting. So I settled on two stars--mostly for how I felt before the experience unraveled. And listen, I get it. Mistakes happen. We're all human. But as someone who eats out frequently, here's one piece of advice: when a restaurant makes a significant mistake with a customer's order, consider taking that item off the bill. Sometimes that gesture is the only reason a guest decides to come back.

A second server eventually had to come over to take our drink order, and then it was another ten minutes before we even got our waters. Our appetizer took a while as well. They were nice enough to bring us more bread, but otherwise, it felt like our server(s)--I'm honestly not sure if the second person was actually assigned to our table--were MIA for most of the night. Our food took forever to come out, and to make matters worse, there was a screaming baby in the booth behind us for a good portion of the meal. Somehow, the table with the screaming baby, who was seated after us, managed to finish their entire meal before we did. The food itself was great, which is why I'm keeping this at two stars rather than one, but the overall experience was a total bust. The bathroom was a mess, and the A/C was clearly not working, so the ambiance was pretty terrible on top of everything else. We would have ordered more drinks and dessert if the service had been better, but it genuinely felt like they forgot about us. And it wasn't just our table--another customer came up and mentioned that they had been waiting about 15 minutes for their drinks. At that rate, what was even the point of making a reservation if we were going to be treated like an afterthought? Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

This early in the morning, the sidewalks and streets were pretty much empty, save for one of those large tourist buses that was parked in front of the restaurant, empty. I'm guessing the only customer in the restaurant other than me was the bus operator, busy reading a newspaper over coffee. My goal was to order a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on a Philly sub roll ($9.99) to take with me on the train. The menu - featuring all manner of comfort food for any meal - was impressive. The dining area and restrooms were clean and spacious; service was attentive without being intrusive, and noise levels were low enough to allow inside-voice conversations. The sandwich was wrapped to go and smelled heavenly at 6 a.m. After boarding my train I headed to the café car, bought an orange juice, and sat down to eat the sandwich. Still warm, the meal was perfect! I've lived in Alexandria for about 15 years, and this is the first time I'd visited Bob & Edith's Diner under its current management. There are enough menu variations that I likely will make this a go-to stop for my train travel. Well done!

The service was attentive. There was a dinner rush. The Bar was packed. This place is clearly popular, and the food was savory and delicious. The Royal is a elevated, diner and definitely a crowd pleaser, good quality food, and within the same restaurant group as Adas on the river and palette22. They are clearly serving the community here. There's fun old fashioned wallpaper but with updated booths and tables. The food was hit or miss for us. We enjoyed their jalapeño cornbread with orange butter and their smash burger sliders. They had crispy edges, nicely toasted buns and yummy melted cheese. But our entrees weren't as successful. The steak and cheese was more of a shredded beef sandwich. And the pesto pasta was really overcooked. The one entree we did like was their pork shank. It was really tender, fall off the bone and flavorful. I would come back for their caramelized banana split. Boy, was that good! I love the banana cooked this way with corn flakes, vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, chocolate chips and whipped cream. Delicious!!

The atmosphere was perfect for the match, and the staff made the experience even better. Donni and Karen were fantastic bartenders! Friendly, attentive, and full of great food and drink recommendations. The Nepo Wrap was delicious! portions were good, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. If we're ever back in Alexandria, Chadwick's will definitely be one of our first stops. Highly recommend!

Haven't been to Chadwicks in a while, so it was nice to convene for a recent brunch to catch up with some friends. While there is limited outdoor seating, I prefer the upstairs since it's typically quieter, and the abundant windows naturally illuminate the space. The interior is also characterized by nautically themed decor, along with exposed brick walls and hardwood flooring. TBH, this is one of the better Brunch spots in Old Town. There brunch menu is extensive - https://static1.squarespace.com/static/68d065ce6d80726524c2bca9/t/6a3d8efe5e4fbd1439f0bc1a/1782419198238/Brunch.pdf - and has all of traditional breakfast offerings of pancakes, french toast, a variety of eggs, sausage/bacon/ham, etc. While there are also lunch type savory options such as sandwiches and chicken and pasta entrees, I opted for the classic biscuits and gravy. I don't normally eat this type of heavy carb heavy dish...but every now and then, it's not so bad. The plate arrived with two buttermilk biscuits, country bacon gravy, two sunny side up two eggs, and home fries. The gravy was nice and thick with pieces of sausage bits, but I found the biscuits on the dry side, rather than buttery and flaky. Eggs were prepared properly and had that satisfying "ooze" when the yolks were popped. Home fries tasted previously frozen and could've used a few more minutes in the fryer. Service was a bit slow as there was only one staff taking orders and delivering food. But he was friendly and would circle back around to check on our group frequently. Pair your meal with a few choices of cocktails (I ordered a $5 mimosa) and Chadwicks brunc h is a great way to spend a few hours on a Sunday afternoon. Be sure to inform your server ahead of time, if separate checks are desired. One brunch entree, one mimosa with tax and tip totalled to about $25.
