If you are looking for a cocktail bar, look no further- this is definitely one of my favorite in the Echo Park area and has a speakeasy vibe to it. It's casual but still can be a good date spot. The place does NOT offer food except for some packet chips so plan accordingly. I tried the G.E.D - it was refreshingly and perfectly made. My friend got the Old-Fashioned, which was good too. Nothing disappointed us. The cocktails range between $13-$16. I will definitely go back and highly recommend checking it out if you love craft cocktails. read more

Henry's, this place is named after the owners pup. I believe there's a photo of him somewhere on their wall. My favorite part about this cool bar is the live Vinyl music they play on the weekends. Make sure you get their early because their seating fills up quick. They offer a great cocktail menu. They have a few snacks as well. On a full moon you'll find the owner sitting in the corner enjoying a nice cocktail with a friend. read more

I like this place, I will say the drinks can be inconsistent. I think next time I'll order at the bar instead of getting a server to see why the drinks taste different each time. I hear they have good drinks, but I'll never know. I arrived at Bar Henry between 8:45 and 9 PM on Thursday, November 9. Some friends and I had just had dinner at a Koreatown restaurant that closed early and we thought we would continue the conversation at a bar closer to home. It's SIlverlake and parking was tight, but I drive a compact car with a rear camera so I backed into a spot on Sunset right across the street from the bar. No sooner did my girlfriend and I step out of the car than a man in front of the bar started waving his flashlight at me and crossing the street in my direction, demanding to know whether I was "intoxiskated." This was the Bar Henry bouncer, the car I parked in front of was his, and he was shaking with anrenaline fueled fight-or-flight energy telling me that my car was touching his. I checked and I was close, but our cars were clearly not touching. He continued to rant at me, without giving me any room to respond and told me he was calling the police. Then one of his coworkers joined the fray. The towel in her back pocket suggested that she was a bartender. While the bouncer claimed to be calling the police, the bartender also insisted that I must be intoxicated, told me I sounded intoxicated, and let me know in voluminous detail just how stupid she thought I was. For the record, I was not intoxicated. She proceeded to stand in front of my car, making it impossible to leave, presumably to trap us there until the police arrived. A friend of mine who had driven separately arrived and tried to de-escalate the situation, but he quickly realized that he may as well go and reason with a wall. My girlfriend pointed out that the most de-escalatory action was simply not to engage, so we got back in the car to wait it out. After a couple of minutes the bouncer started walking back across the street and the bartender, who was still blocking me in, called out to him "What do you want me to do with them." I didn't hear the reply, but that's when she called us idiots one final time and walked away. Having had enough excitement for the evening, we went home. If Bar Henry's goal is to drive customers away, the staff couldn't be better equipped. Bravo. read more

I moved back to LA about 8 months ago and this is easily a top 3 bar for me in the area. It doesn't get too wild, it's clean, and has an upscale feel without being pretentious. The bartenders know what they're doing and the drinks are consistent every time I go. If you're a tequila/mezcal fan like me, you won't find better mixed drinks - even at other spots that label themselves as tequila bars. Be warned that they have a limited food menu. If you're looking for a fun spot to hang with good vibes and delicious cocktails, you'll be hard pressed to find anything better than Bar Henry. read more

Between my wife and I, we had four different cocktails. All four - last word, florida man, island time, and flattened preist were exceptional. We found Bar Henry a perfect place to hang out and wait out the post-Dodgers game traffic that makes LA famous. The bar is dimly lit and the bar filled with great choices of liquor including Pappy. This is a very nice looking classy small bar. The decor and the feel are just right, I loved it. I am not the demographic for this place and I came in alone ( I was dog sitting for my daughter who lives in EP ). So it was a bit weird, or I am just self conscious. Anyway, I had been working outside in the heat all day and was craving a refreshing drink, so I just went in at about 5:30 on a Thursday. At first the bartender was a little stand-offish - and I get that, again I am not the bar's demographic... anyway, the drink he made me was sooooo delicious. I complimented him, and he warmed right up and was super nice and I didn't feel awkward or out of place any longer. I also got the hot pretzel for $6, it was large and good, hit the spot. The server who brought me the pretzel was also super sweet. I wish they had more nibbles or even some small plates, but I will definitely go back with my daughter and have a stellar cocktail with her- she is this place's demo. The only incongruous thing is, as the bar is on the way to the Stadium the crowd that was there when I was seemed to be 90% a baseball crowd, and this classy gorgeous place is the furthest thing from a sports bar-- but whatever, I enjoyed Bar Henry. read more

Super impressed with this place. From the great tasting drinks to the decor is 100% a must try bar. It's clean and the music setup is pleasing to my ears. Drinks are originals (with a focus on tequila/mezcal), classics, and beer-n-shot combos. Plus wines and a large list of bottled beers. We got the Suicidal Caveman, Mr. Fix-It, and Robot Sex on the Beach. Plus the Oskar Blues IPA with a shot of Jameson Caskmates Whiskey. This place is small but it feels spacious at least when it's not too crowded, the windows definitely make it feel more open too. It's definitely much nicer than expected and all of the bartenders are great and very attentive. The bathrooms were also kept very clean when I visited, which is always a plus. I think the best bang for your buck are the beer and shot specials like the pica pica. A shot of tequila and a modelo for $11. The beer is a smaller though, maybe more like 12 oz vs the standard 16 oz. The cocktails are about $12-$15 which is pretty average for LA. I came here on an weekday and it wasn't too busy. I'd say it's a great place to bring a date or hang out with small group. There's no food offered, but definitely check out the nearby taco trucks afterwards. There's no parking lot, so either street park or Uber here. read more

Hidden gem - love this place! It's a great addition to Echo Park and exactly what was needed. A nice bar that you can tell no detail was overlooked when decorating. Their drinks are great! Stopped by Bar Henry with a friend for a cocktail and some good tunes. I had a delicious mezcal Paloma and my friend had a glass of wine. I was surprised that my bill was almost $50. GUAOH! We sat by the DJ Booth where a couple gals were spinning vinyl. Im no mixmaster, but I know the difference between a good mix, a good transition and complimenting the right selections and these gals did not care. Their performance was a group gossip with the occasional conversation pause to flip the next track and back to conversating. We noticed people around us also sharing similar critiques. The bar as a chill cozy vibe and the drinks (Although over over priced) were good, but the music was a bad hiccup. Interesting enough, we finished our drinks and stepped outside, We stumbled next door into an art store where two unsuspecting fellas were also playing vinyl. Similar tunes and let me say, Playing a flawlessly amazing set. Maybe Bar Henry should hire these folks. Great tunes and perfect transitions all in 45's. read more

There's a gorgeous new bar in Echo Park, and it comes with great cocktails and stellar service! Bar Henry is the quintessential bar done right... as if the owners took everything that we hate about the bars and made it right. The menu is impressive with delicious specialty cocktails and interesting beer/wine list (OMG Bruery Horchata, Wednesday Cat, Stiegl, and Hitachino Nest white ale). Some of my fave cocktails are the Mahoney, Flattened Priest, Moon Patrol, and GED. I'm also a big fan of their Especials de Enrique (shot + beer) and beer list. And can we please give a moment of silence for the kickass playlist and some hallelujahs for the BEAUTIFUL bathrooms? I will definitely be a regular. read more

We got got vodka sodas and tito's shots, the vodka sodas were pretty good! Only thing for me is the price, each drink ran about $14 so kinda steep. Cocktails out of this world! As a novice cocktail maker myself appreciated there twists on some of my classic favorite Tiki drinks. The vibe felt cozy, moody and cool. I am posting a response to the blatantly false claims that the owner has made in response to my group's recounting of our experience at this bar last night. I initially left an angrier and less detailed google review that I have since taken down after cooling off. Instead, I am opting to calmly lay it all out here: Regarding the details of the situation, you have made a plethora of blatantly false claims like: A. that we tried sneaking alcohol into the venue B. that we were "sitting next to the patio and drinking" instead of merely approaching the entrance from the car with only one of us having an opened Modelo with two sips gone from it... (a simple "throw that away" would've sufficed) C. that we "threw our empties on the ground" when that member of our party politely placed said bottle in an alleyway in an attempt to comply with the hostile door woman Had the bouncer calmly explained why she perceived our disposition entering the bar to be unacceptable for entry, then we would've understood. Instead, we were left to accept this vague aggression out of nowhere that we were receiving for merely being present at the bar's entrance. Mr. Rubin tried claiming that I was deliberately "using my one friend of color's identity," which is egregious on a number of levels. First of all, had you checked the camera footage like you claimed, you would have noticed more than one person of color in our group, Mr. Rubin. However, that's besides the point. Our friend (not mentioning her name out of respect and privacy), was upset for the rest of the evening after the racism she experienced and we, as good friends, are trying to hold this business accountable. Real solidarity with Black people entails believing a Black person when they say something felt charged and standing with them instead of automatically shooting down their grievances as a white bar owner who did not see this transpire in real time. Simply hosting a "queer/trans night" doesn't make a business immune from wrongdoing. Particularly when your bouncer also called us "angry lesbians." Claiming, as the bar owner, that your private business does such a service to our community is self-aggrandizing at best and at worst, displays a gross and cynical savior complex to save face in light of legitimate outrage. You and your employee have a problem with treating queer people of the community with dignity and respect despite what you claim. For that reason, I urge others not to patronize this business. read more

Had a rude encounter with the staff. I was entering with several queer friends on their supposed queer night. The interaction itself was just sort of strange because we were rejected for drinking nearby, but then when we were talking to our friends who had already entered, we overheard staff call us "angry lesbians" which was really infuriating.
