I met a couple of buddies here for some drinks. Holy expensive! We all agreed that the prices are exorbitantly high and somehow after 3 drinks each, we felt nothing. Not even a buzz. Strange. Do they water down the liquor? I don't know, but after spending $45 and having some good convo, we bounced out and went to another spot. Would I return? Without understanding the context of the situation to find out who was in the wrong. I was simply defending myself and at this point they also refused to call the police. My phone was dead at the time and they wouldn't call for an assault at the bar. Just goes to show they don't care about the safety of there customers and they really don't give a fuck. I ordered two drinks which totaled $12.99. I paid with CC and added a $2 tip. Upon checking my credit card statement, I saw they charged me $20. This is a good lesson for anyone to always keep receipts and check your statements at the end of every month. Either this bar is running some scam or the bartender is incompetent and can't even do a simple task. Unfortunately they don't answer their phones so I can't resolve the issue with them and now I have to waste my time disputing this transaction with my bank. read more

I am always a little hesitant going into establishments I don't know when out of town. We stopped in on a Tuesday night. Real chill atmosphere with great tunes. Kind of a 30+ crowd. Noise level was awesome. Plenty of activities with pool table, foose ball, pin ball, etc. Plenty of seating and nice couches to chill and relax. Beverages were cold and on point. It looked like located in downtown area. Music was on point. Our bartender Amory was friendly, on the ball, and made good recommendations. read more

I hopped into Bar -K a few days ago when I had some time to kill before going to dinner. I'd seen the store front a few times while at the brewery across the street and was glad to see that they'd finally opened. I was really pleased with the experience. Apparently this used to be a cigar bar, but there are no traces of the smell from the former tenants. The atmosphere of the bar is cozy and spacious. It seems like seating might be an issue on busier nights, especially if this place becomes a favorite new evening hangout spot (which I suspect it will), but there is plenty of space between the tables for people to hang out who don't mind standing. There's a small area with couches and it seems like the inside could also be set up to make space for a band. One thing this town could definitely use is more live music! The drinks are very good. The cocktail menu is well put together and offers a unique twist on the classics. There is a good variety of liquors, so if you don't see anything on the menu that you like, the bartender can adjust to your needs. They use fresh squeezed juice and I overheard the bartender saying that they make their own ginger ale. Cool! One down side is that there are no beers on tap (though there is a microbrewery right across the street!). There is also no food that I could tell. Given that Bar-K features cocktails, I think it'd be smart to at least offer bar snacks or pop corn. I'd imagine they don't mind you bringing in food from nearby restaurants but I'll have to ask about the food topic next time I'm in. My bartender was just the right amount of attentive, keeping my water glass topped off and occasionally checking in with me, and otherwise allowing me to do my thing. He did a great job preparing my drink and had I not needed food in my system (a snack would have been perfect, but again, no food there that I could tell) I would have ordered another. I overheard a conversation between the bartender and a patron in which he asked the patron how is drink was and made adjustments to his drink based on the feedback. It's always great when a bartender is flexible and cares about making a drink that the customer wants. I hope that Bar K continues to grow its roots in the downtown area. It's a fresh place to hang out and have good drinks without being surrounded by your "typical" Saturday night bar scene crowd (read: early 20s, shot-pounding club hoppers). I look forward to seeing how Bar-K grows. read more

This was a great bar at first me and my friends had been there for a second night and there was nothing going on until the end of the night. The bald bouncer about 300 pounds pushed my black friend down 3 times because he could not down his whole drink. There were at least 10 people drinking around my friend all regular people, never said anything to them. After he was done pushing my black friend down and out he never says anything to me or the group of white people still drinking. i was not going to say anything about the racist part until he said "his kind was not allowed around here!" I could not believe it, I thought Colorado was a peaceful place. This was the first time I have come across anything racist. I am filing a report with the BBB today I would suggest you never go here. read more

This bar had only been open a few months so it's kind of a hidden gem and not real busy yet which is nice. They have an outstanding choice of custom cocktails and they are all made from local Colorado alcohol. The décor and feel inside is really nice and clean, they have lots of comfy couches to sit on. The best part is that down in the basement they have two ping pong tables and a pool table! So fun! They have very clean bathrooms with free mints and other toiletries. Also, the staff was all great, they are knowledgeable about the drinks and will make a great recommendation based on your tastes. I think I found a new regular spot! read more

Okay, so let me start by saying this place is the real deal. They are new to the downtown area and are already rocking it. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and boasts a fun speak easy feel (check out their downstairs lounge). In addition to the awesome decor, they have an equally impressive cocktail list that rocks out of this world Colorado-themed drinks. They also have stellar locally-sourced sodas that are a real treat if you're into deliciously crafted ginger ale that packs a punch of natural flavor! ;) Let's get to the staff. These peeps are real pros at what they do and can easily manage a bar full of guests effortlessly. Here's a hint... It's a Friday night at 8 pm. The place is packed. I've only been here half an hour and been checked-in on at least three times. Excellent service from an awesome crew. They also partner up with local food trucks to offer delicious food just outside the door, should you need to balance out the booze with a little comida. Came here last night and ordered two drinks and told them to keep my tab open. Around the end of the night my friend said she needed air and went outside. I got worried and went out to check on her. She was way too sick and drunk so I decided to find a ride right then and there and completely forgot about closing out my tab. So when I went back today to close out, I noticed the bill was higher than it should've been. I asked to talk to the bartender that served me and he remembered exactly what I ordered and said my friend ordered three more drinks and even one for a guy and put it on my tab. So the bartender (who I was told is not a bartender and is a cook but still served me) took three more drink orders without my knowledge and put it on MY tab without my consent! When I tried to ask about this he immediately got defensive and had a major attitude and told me "Your friend seemed drunk but you guys seemed close so I thought it was ok. Go talk to your friend." I told him that was only my 2nd time meeting this girl! I will also note that there were three dudes there that night that would not leave despite my many efforts to tell them in a polite way. Yes, given they were friendly and nice we talked with them. 85% of the convo was me telling them I'm 12 yrs older go get someone your own age. I point this out because when I said "why would I be ok with her putting drinks on my tab without my knowledge and even buying a guy a drink that I was trying to get rid of all night? Just because I have a tab open anyone can put drinks on it?" He was like "no way you were talking to them all night. Just bc you came with your bf today you wanna make it seem like you weren't?" Wow not only very unprofessional but I was appalled and angry as hell because 1. The guy I came with is NOT my bf so I have no reason to hide shit!! I'm single. 2. The cook didn't hear the many many times I told those guys to go and that they're wasting their time. So just because it "looks" a way doesn't mean it's true so how dare he make false accusations so that he can try to convince himself that he was justified for what he did and like it was all my fault that there were three extra drinks on MY tab?? I even told the cook it didn't have to get heated like that!! To which he said sorry in the rudest non apologetic way possible and that I should (again) take this up with my friend. He took it way too far trying to defend himself with false assumptions and trying to make me feel like this was all my fault and that I don't know my own truths. After both our voices were raised the bartender lady that was there angrily yelled at us to leave but trust me, we were already on our way out of that toxic place. Defend your employee blindly without realizing what's just in the situation, very cool. That's why my problem is with the whole bar, not just the cook. I came to this bar because a friend referred me. I was able to go sit at the bar and have a cider while chatting with the others there. The bartenders are very good at reading the guests, either giving you space or casually and seemlessly engaging you in the ongoing bar-talk. There are TVs, specials, ladies nights, comfortable couches, clean bathrooms, pool table, ping pong table, good music, appropriate lighting, trivia night, games at the bar, local art work, and fresh fruit for special cocktails and martinis. Was recently passing through colorado springs on vacation, and my girlfriend and I stopped into bar-k. Turned out to be better than any other stop on our trip. The bartender had a real knowledge of flavors, and was just a super nice guy. We wound up staying for a couple that night, and the next night we almost made the 2 hour trek from our hotel just to go back there. If you go, ask about the rye and ginger with blackberry syrup. Wow is all I can say. On the way out I couldn't find my cigarette lighter. The bartender came out from behind the bar, walked me out to his car, and gave me his extra one. Sometimes you stumble into some good people and some good places. Highly recommend this place, even if you're staying in another area of colorado. Plus, nearby garden of the gods is a must do if you're vacationing there. read more
