The restaurant was very accommodating for our group of 10. We made reservations prior and were seated right away. The area was secluded from other guest which was nice. However, the lightning was very dim, and kept going from darker to back to dim. Kind of wish it was a tad brighter for my old eyes. Service was on point we had a gentleman that was very attentive and provided recommendations for everything. With a group of 8 or more there is a 20% gratuity charge and I felt he even deserved more. Now for the food I was a little disappointed. In reading all the reviews I thought the food was going to be melt in your mouth goodness. Sadly not in the least bit was I impressed. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing as everyone who had a burger didn't have one complaint. However, everyone who ordered plates thought the food was subpar. We won't be racing back here as the flavor was lacking. If we do happen to come back I guess I'll stick to the burger vs. the cod and peppered steak. read more

Burger was average, nothing special and the tenderloin was cooked and seasoned well. The food was average. Unfortunately for the price, it was nothing impressive. Had the foi gras appetizer, which was a nearly raw liver. Then had the grilled asparagus. The grill was excellent but too much salt. Then I had the duck, which was undercooked. Followed by burnt chocolate bread pudding. Not good. read more

We are on a road trip from CA to LA and stopped in San Antonio. This place is a MUST TRY! We stopped here on our way out to LA and loved it so much, we made a stop again on our way back to CA. Michael, Matt and Angel made our visit one for the books. If you come, I definitely recommend meeting one of them. They have the friendliest and most attentive staff. The full menu food stops at 10pm but the truffle mac and cheese is AMAZING!! After 10pm, they have a bar food menu and we recommend trying the steak frites. The steak was so unbelievably tender and flavorful. The inside of the bar is beautiful and it has a piano for anyone who plays. read more

We had an unsavory dinner, we ordered the lobster risotto, the rock shrimp and the crispy brick chicken; everything was below average. The service was good up until the check. We had split the bill and had already added a $45 tip but when the server went to charge the last part of the bill, he very publicly asked in a rude manner if he wasn't getting tipped. We'd been meaning to try this place for awhile and finally ventured out. The place is tiny and was super crowded on an early Friday evening. The bar had lots of standing-only patrons who were super clearly wasted by 7 pm. I was expecting a cool vibe but honestly it was mostly an overserved, older crowd of people trying to find someone to take home that night. That's all kind of sad because the food and drinks have serious potential. We had several delicious cocktails, and the Junebug vs. Hurricane was the best of the night. So refreshing. The heirloom tomato salad looked beautiful but needed more seasoning or vinegar or something... it was a bit bland (probably just not the best batch of tomatoes). The brussel sprouts were amazing... who would have though, chamoy on sprouts. The pork tenderloin was just okay, a bit dry. The cumin rock shrimp was very tasty and crispy. The menu is very inventive and obviously the bartenders and chefs are very talented. Service was good too. Our waiter Todd was very friendly and always available without being overbearing. If it weren't for the annoying bar crowd situation we would definitely return. But as is... I think we'll pass. read more

I've never had a bad experience at Bar Loretta. The hardest part is maybe finding parking but after that, it's smooth sailing. Whether you're at the bar, the hightop table in the center, the tables along the edge of the inside or even the outside space of the restaurant, you're never forgotten. The lighting truly sets the mood (but if you're anything like me, you may need your cellphone light to read the menu, lol). The food is easily some of the best I've had and it's very budget friendly. The staff truly make an effort to get to know you and your party to give a unique experience every time you come. While you're able to walk in, I fully recommend making a reservation. read more

Went for a dinner party with friends & had such a wonderful time. Ordered a couple "off menu" items like the caviar tater tots & the steak frites. The cumin dusted rock shrimp are absolutely dangerous as you just keep popping them in your mouth but then quickly realize they're all gone. The caviar topped tots were the perfect combination & I am still dreaming about the Demi glazed onions that came with the steak frites. I ordered an Old Fashioned. What i got was NOT an OF. It's as if they put ice and Dbl Woodford Reserve in a cocktail shaker. Website says full bar. Is it ? Because there was no simple syrup in my OF. I got a glass with ice cubes and straight up Woodford Reserve. If you think Im being picky well; it's an OF and NOT a Corpse Reviver #2 or Vieux Carre. So either you didn't have any simple syrup and used packets of sugar and or the "full bar" doesn't carry maraschino cherries. Then maybe this place is either being mismanaged or the bartender is inept or clearly just doesn't give a fuck and management doesn't either. I can't say this any clearer, it was simple drink that was a shit drink. Helen Keller would have done a better job. Maybe offer selling tickets to the shit show of disaster drinks would be more appealing on your website ? Again; the bartender should be embarrassed. or not. But then again, you get what you pay for. And i obviously paid for it. Do Not Go here. If they cannot produce a simple Old Fashioned, who knows what other 8ball of ingredients are used or not available. read more

Love that the cocktails are named after songs from some beloved artists (Lucinda Williams, Tom Waits) and delicious enough to live up to their name. Being a foodie I've being waiting to try this place out for a long time. I made reservations a few weeks out and this was our first 2022 celebration night out. The renovations and location is a 5/5. We love Southtown for the vibe, people watching and safety of the area to hang out. The building still has a house like cozy, neighborhood feel to be your go to spot. I did study the menu before arriving so new I would love the variety and options. Some of the starters seems pretty expensive almost like main meal options for such small bites though. Why 3 stars for me? It could be because we were emotionally enthusiastic about going out and I've been waiting for our dining experience all week. My expectations were high but our service experience was not good. Our waiter was mediocre, didn't explain the menu, not sure if they had specials, was dry in responses and we got a very disappointed to see that we we were sitting for a while before even asked is we wanted starters and yet he started taking the table next to us order first. That somewhat ruined it for us as it's felt rude to us that you didn't come back to give us a seamless flow of service. When I mentioned it he said he had 4 tables and that table was ready ...well so were we but you never came back to us. Nonetheless, I almost either left or asked for a different waiter but we stayed. We ordered 2 cocktails, cumin dusted shrimp, Brussels sprouts, shrimp and grits, brick chicken. The food was superb. Taste, size, quality, uniqueness all worth it. The cumin dusted shrimp sounds fancy but it was like ordering a side of regular fried popcorn shrimp but for the size of this appetizer it's good to get. The Brussels sprouts - delicious and I had enough of my brick chicken as leftovers. The pudding was very different and inched it but hubby don't eat due to mushrooms. This maybe should be a note on the menu for those allergic. For the cocktails, I'd say it's not the best selection I've seen and this area probably needs more design. The names were unique and the were well crafted but I don't know the flavor combinations were not great. I ordered wine as the two cocktails we got didn't wow us. I would come back, just hate the servers management of our dining was a turn off. read more

The rock shrimp were to die for!! The pear and onions that are paired with the quail are divine enough to be a salad on its own. The Loretta burger was juicy and flavorful, plus the tots were crispy. Decided to treat ourselves to something a bit more expensive and left buzzed and full. The service was amazing, our waitress was knowledgeable on what cocktails to pair with certain dishes. We had the whiskey braised pork belly appetizer which melts in your mouth! At first glance you may be disappointed with the serving size but you will thank them later because you will be full after entrees and dessert. I ordered the double cut pork chop and truffle mac and cheese and was so sad that I could not finish everything! The flavors of the sweet potato were so rich and paired extremely well with the cranberry mustarda. The truffled mac and cheese is a 10. For dessert, I had the pumpkin nut french toast brulee and it was the most delicious dessert I have had. I usually do not like ordering dessert but I hadn't tried anything that had to do with brulee and was grateful I did because the delicious sugar-crisped french toast is why I am making it a point to go back. The cocktails have mature flavors. I am still a young tequila sunrise girl so I probably won't be trying the drinks I had there again until my taste buds mature but these are the drinks I ordered: 1. Junebug vs. hurricane with my pork entree and this one I will order again because it is pink and cute but also because I love drinks with lemon and fruit! 2. A cup of ambition to finish the pork plate, I thought I would enjoy because it has cold brew and I love white russians and espresso martinis but the flavor was not what I thought it would be. The tequila overpowered it for me, but I am probably just not mature enough for that one. 3. The Preacher paired with the brulee dessert, our waitress recommended it and I agree it does pair well but I found myself trying to force it down towards the last couple of sips, and again it is probably because my taste is still with the fruity sugary drinks. Fist let me start with, I'm glad we decided to make reservations on a Friday evening at 6:00 pm. They have very limited seating and the bar it happening so ....heads up....call and reserve a table. Our server Cassandra was amazing! She was knowledgeable on the cocktail menu as well as the main dinner menu. She allowed us to review the cocktail menu without being pushy considering she had many tables and they were very busy. I had the Dope on Me and my husband had the Suffering Bastard....both were just what we needed to start our dining evening. We ordered two different appetizers to share. We started with the Cumin Dusted Rock Shrimp and the Pan Roasted Sweetbreads....both very light yet we felt like we needed to share the Strawberry Black Peppered Cesar which was a nice portion. Highly recommend splitting that. We moved on to our dinner. My husband had the Peppered Beef Tenderloin and I had the Herb Crusted Lamb Chops.....both cooked to perfection. I'm a big fan of Lamb Chops but not everyone knows how to present a gourmet lamb chop.....the chef knocked out of the park! It was served with a peach sausage Risotto.....we passed on desert.
