QUAIL QUAIL!! Oh my Quail. Atmosphere is amazing at this hotel. Didn't have drinks so I'll get to it. Food: Quail appetizer- small dish but oh man the best quail I've ever had. Super juicy and balanced with flavor. This was a nice surprise! Service: Super solid

My wife and I headed downtown a couple of hours early before a show at the Majestic Theatre so we could grab dinner, and Jots at the historic Gunter Hotel, right across the street, was an easy choice. It was our first time visiting, and since it was a Thursday around 5 p.m., the restaurant was quiet with only two other couples dining. It made for a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere to start our evening. My wife ordered one of their specialty cocktails, which came topped with basil oil drops. The presentation was eye-catching, and the aroma alone was worth the order. I had to try a sip, and it was excellent. I went with a Hefeweizen myself, and it paired nicely with the meal. For dinner, my wife chose the pork schnitzel, and I went with the Apple & Sage Texas Hen. She really enjoyed the schnitzel, perfectly cooked, served over a bed of spaetzle, and complemented by an incredibly flavorful gravy that she couldn't stop talking about. My Texas Hen was beautifully plated and even better to eat. The meat was tender and juicy, served over creamy mashed potatoes and topped with a delicious apple compote. I absolutely loved every bite. If you're headed to the Majestic, I highly recommend arriving an hour or two early and having dinner at Jots. You won't be disappointed! And if you still have room after dinner, there's a charming little bakery next door with some amazing pastries, perfect for a sweet finish to the night.

Never have I ever paid $31 for a hamburger, but also, never have I ever been treated to such an elevated service experience at a restaurant. Jots is part of the new multi-million dollar remodel of The Gunter Hotel. They told us mine was their first-ever reservation, so they really rolled out the red carpet. Our server, Juan, took care of us very well. Our water glasses were never empty. When I told him a family member had worked as a server in that hotel back in the 1940s, he told the manager and she came over to hear the story (and to tell some she had heard about this historic place). The burger was good, and the fries were really good--perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Our table was treated to two desserts, on the house, to celebrate being their first reservation. They've been open for a while, but I guess we were the first to call ahead and reserve a table. Being right across the street from The Majestic, this is a great option for theater-goers who want a nice meal before their shows.

Great restaurant inside the Gunter Hotel. Very cool vibe, and the food is very good. We had dinner before a show at the Majestic and enjoyed the prefix pre show meal. I highly recommend enjoying a meal here.

We stayed at The Gunter. So, we had 2 meals at Jots. Dinner; Juan was our waiter, if my memory servers me correctly, was fabulous. My beet salad was absolutely amazing. If you order this, please be a beet fan. There are minimal additional ingredients to taper the beets. My gluten eating companion ordered the burger and fries. The 1st thing I noticed was that his plate looked exactly as the other Yelp photos did. That consistency is a big plus for me! My partner gushed about the fries. He stated well cooked and seasoned. Now, this seems like a basic review, but please know, the prices are not basic. Which means the fact that you are going to get a consistent meal, that not only looks but tastes amazing is necessity. Breakfast, I ordered the duck Benedict with gf adaptation. The duck tastes like Christmas. Literally! It's seasoned with clove, allspice and fall flavors that make you think of Christmas. It was delicious. I ate my eggs and salad while in the restaurant. The eggs were correct poached and went nicely with the arugula salad that is the standard side. I took my toast and duck with me. When I ate it, I ate it cold so as not to break my hollandaise. Even cold, the duck was delicious. Both times we were 1 of 3 or 4 tables in the restaurant. The wait staff was delightful and friendly. However, The food service is slow. Be prepared to wait for your food. But it is worth the wait

Joshua's service was amazing! The food was on point, and I'd definitely recommend it for a night out or even a date.

This is breakfast that my daughter and I had on Christmas morning and it was delightful! The food was delicious and well prepared and the service is fantastic bar none. I highly recommend this restaurant whether you're staying in the hotel or just finishing a show at the Majestic. It is a small menu, which makes it easy to choose what you want. The bar is excellent, and the desserts are also sublime.

Fried Green tomatoes - 10/10 Grits - 10/10 Praline Bacon - 10+++ Avocado - 10/10 Biscuits - 9/10 Scrambled Eggs w/Cheese - 6/10. After all that cheese and cajun seasoning, they were still tasteless. I added black pepper and it helped. My chai latte with oatmilk and a little caramel topped the meal off. Oh, and I ordered some beignets to-go. I remember those being good. I got 3 classics and 1 stuffed with peaches and cream. The music was a mixture between jazz, r&b, and a little funk. It added a nice touch on this rainy morning, especially jamming to James Brown. The hotness was friendly and looked like she was ready for her day. And Sara, our waitress, had a nice disposition early in the morning. She was pleasant, friendly, and efficient.

I had my family join me for brunch, and unfortunately, it left us with questions. The biggest question was, "Where was the favor?" I knew I wouldn't like the chicory coffee, yet there was another option available that I enjoyed more that was a decaf. The child's plate was one of the worst kid's meal values I've seen in a while. It was $10 for one tender and a beignet. The tender was small and left my child wanting more, so I paid $7 for an extra tender. Please consider a plate that has two tenders and fruit or potatoes for older kids since this was sized for a toddler. The $10 Doggy Meal looked like it could have provided that option since it came with grilled chicken, sweet potato, and steamed rice. The adult plates had enough food for an actual meal, so we shared our plates with my child who only wanted more chicken and potatoes at that point. The Bayou BLT was okay, yet nothing to rave about. My husband wasn't impressed with the Blue Crab Omelette, and my aunt said her Catfish St. Charles was very bland. We all had an order of beignets that were tough and chewy. My husband and I have had freshly baked and powdered beignets at Cafe Du Moude, so these tiny versions were a tough sell. What did have flavor? The Bananas Foster pancakes, which was the better dessert option. While the restaurant itself was cute, expect table service to be long. We constantly waited for waitstaff to return to refill coffee, bring napkins, or furnish a needed utensil. Also, the parking will be tight. We were lucky to get spots adjacent to the restaurant rather than offsite, yet you will be watched like a hawk when you attempt to leave. People want those spots. If you want the feel of brunch with okay-ish food at expensive prices, come to NOLA the restaurant. If you're expecting to relive the actual taste of NOLA the city, start booking your next getaway for the real deal.

A Perfect Return to Where Our Forever Began My husband and I…read moregot married at Hotel Valencia one year ago, so getting to return this weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary was incredibly special. As part of our wedding package, they were incredibly generous and included two complimentary nights at the hotel and dinner at Dorrego's for us to celebrate. They are truly the absolute best at what they do and really know how to celebrate their guests! Returning to the very place where we said "I do" was already emotional enough, but Hotel Valencia somehow made the experience even more memorable than our first stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff was exactly as we remembered them: kind, attentive, professional, thoughtful, and genuinely wonderful. Our room was absolutely gorgeous, and when we walked in on our first day, we found the sweetest surprise waiting for us: a bottle of champagne, chocolate-covered strawberries, and a congratulations message written in chocolate on the plate. I actually teared up a little! It was such a thoughtful and adorable gesture that truly made us feel seen, celebrated, and cared for. There is something so special about Hotel Valencia. The environment is exceptional, the service is always outstanding, and even their gorgeous signature scent instantly brings us back to memories of love, celebration, and adventure. Every little detail feels intentional and memorable. I am so incredibly thankful that we chose Hotel Valencia as the place to celebrate both our wedding and our first anniversary. It will forever hold such a special place in our hearts, and we cannot wait to return again and make even more memories there. Thank you, Hotel Valencia, for helping make two of the most meaningful celebrations of our lives absolutely unforgettable!

A Wonderful Stay at Hotel Valencia!…read more We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Valencia on the San Antonio River Walk! The location is perfect step out the front door and you're right in downtown San Antonio. From the hotel restaurant, you can take the stairs or elevator directly down to the River Walk, which makes getting around so easy and convenient. What we especially loved is that this hotel has so much character and charm. It doesn't feel like one of those cookie-cutter chain hotels. We had a balcony, although it was simply too hot during our visit to sit outside and enjoy it. I'm sure it would be wonderful on a cooler evening! The bar and restaurant were both excellent, and the entire staff was friendly and welcoming. A special shout-out to the valet guys they provided wonderful service and were always so helpful. Great location, beautiful atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and exceptional service. We would definitely stay here again when we're back in San Antonio!
