So happy they opened this restaurant in Granger. The food was a bit to greasy but I'm not complaining. What I didn't like was the customer service. I get it, restaurants now a days are short staff but that's not an excuse to provide bad customer service or to be rude to your customers. First time I've ever been here and it was an overall good experience. They had big draughts of Miller lite, which is all I can really ask for. Had the chop chop salad for dinner which was average, but can't really be picky about a salad like that. Our waiter was great, always there to refill drinks and was nice. Bar Louie was good; not great. If I had a choice, I would choose to return. The presentation was pretty typical if you think of a fusion between bar atmosphere and chain restaurant sit down. I was told Bar Louie was known for their burgers, and after trying the Southwest burger, I understand why. The burger tasted great and I would have had another one if I was still famished. The price was fair at $11 for a typical size burger with great taste. On a Thursday evening during dinner time, the dining room was not even half full. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a good burger. I also enjoyed an Anger Black IPA which was tasty. This is a good spot to find several craft beers in a variety to tease anyone's taste buds, which I have found is a rarity in northern Indiana. It's a good looking bar. It's all looks, food was okay I'm somewhat pleased with this the kitchen. Drinks are not prepared to be pleasing whatsoever. It's the second worst mojito I've ever had (I've had many) mint leaves appeared to have been sitting out for a while. Margarita seemed to have the standard preparation but lacked the standard taste. I was pleased with my server. I didn't find myself trying to call her. I should also mention that the table which I was seated at wobbled like an old rocking chair. Bar Louie has some wonderful items: beautifully prepared salads, grilled wheat bread with mashed avocado, shrimp, chives and radishes, as well as a fabulous bruschetta. Sooo good! My star rating is higher than I would have given this place, but I have to give them credit for two things. The drinks are AWESOME (I've been dying for some real mixed drinks) and they were graceful when I returned my flatbread. I ordered the southwestern one, with no mention of cheddar cheese in the description. Needless to say (welcome to living east of the Rockies), my food was coated with cheddar. I don't think anyone told the cook that queso fresco isn't yellow... I was upset because I generally don't complain and return food, but I was starving and wanted something that tasted like home. So I asked for it to be redone with no cheddar and more cilantro. It came back out of the kitchen perfect! Even the server said that it looked much better than usual. And the drinks. Yummy! I don't remember the names, but I had a martini with cucumber, and then a coconut water mixed drink. Both were delicious and at a price that was a steal compared to what I would have paid in California! As for the bad reviews, if you're going for the nightlife, you may want to read the reviews a bit more closely. If you're going to enjoy some great drinks, good small bites, and the company of your best friends, then this is a great place to try. read more

This is the best bar/hang out in the South Bend/Mishawaka area...I have no idea why it only has 3 stars. The crowd is a great mix and I think the food is pretty good, the service is always friendly and I LOVE sitting out on the patio! Everytime I visit I always go to Bar Louie! We first came here shortly after it opened many years ago. I was just back recently while on business in the area. What a disappointment. It's not that it was bad, I think it's still deserving of three stars, but it is so much less than it used to be. In particular they used to have some of the best pretzel sticks anywhere around. Now they tasted more like bland breadsticks that looked like pretzels. I'm not sure it even had any salt on it. The service was good, certainly friendly, but not impressive. In particular I didn't care for the dress code and grooming standards. I'mnot sure what the health department standards are on how large the holes in your jeans can be before they're not considered full length pants, but I think they are pushing the limits. From what I could tell the biggest shift has been that the focus used to be on the dining room and the bar in the back was the secondary feature. Now it is completely reversed. I felt like those of us dining in the dining room were not the focus. I I suppose In fairness it is called "Bar Louie" not "Dining Room Louie". read more

Called to make a carryout order and was placed on hold for 10 minutes. The only reason my hold didn't last longer was because I had arrived at the restaurant. When I asked to place the order I was referred to one of the bartenders who seemed confused as to why she was being asked to place my order. She ended up taking care of it but when my order was ready I had to ask 2 people to bring it out to me. The first person I asked said "you have to ask your waitress." When I explained that I didn't have one they still neglected to assist me. The second person I asked said that while she was not on the clock that she would get my food which I was appreciative of. There were literally 3-4 people standing around doing nothing and I waited no less than 20 minutes for a fairly simple order - nachos. Furthermore I was not impressed with how crowded the bar area was and the lack of regard to the fact that we are still in the midst of a global pandemic. With regards to my food, it was pretty good. However, the poor service I received overshadowed that. Will not be visiting again. read more

Sunday brunch super chill- the food and service are good too. I'm an advocate quick water refills and this place is always on top of it. Not to mention the sports are on top! They have no problem changing the channel if you'd like to watch a certain game (great for Sunday football!!!). Now the foods.. for brunch specifically their tots are bomb (always any time of day) and the selection for brunch is satisfying. The drinks here are great. I've ordered the Samba and the Diva and they were both VERY good and decently priced. I also ordered the Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna and the portions were HUGE! It was cooked very well and seared perfectly. My group also ordered the Calamari as an appetizer and I think it was probably one of the best fried calamari I've had especially at a chain restaurant. It didn't taste like it was out of the freezer - perfectly crispy and seasoned well. The staff was REALLY REALLY friendly! And NO I don't work at Bar Louie - I've been here twice because my husband loves the beer and I love their mixed drinks. Each time the staff was always available and very friendly. I frequent Bar Louie on date nights with my fiance or girls' nights out. The atmosphere on the bar side is always a bit loud. Good if you don't mind shouting, but not the place for intimate conversations. The atmosphere has improved since they stopped allowing smoking inside. They have lots of TVs showing lots of different games. Just last night I could catch the Blackhawks game, X Games coverage, and NCAA Basketball. There's always some kind of drink specials going on. Compared to other restaurants/bars I've been too in the past Bar Louie definately doesn't disappoint. For starters the atmosphere is top notch. It's not too bright or too dark, and at night they lower the lights which gives the place a very classy, intimate, vibe. The tables aren't too close together, and Bar Louie has a variety of very nice seating options. Round booths, some are more square, small one on one tables etc, which caters to different sized crowds for different occasions. Awesome!! Also their bar area is kept separate from the restaurant section which also caters to adults the wanna let loose, and also families that want to enjoy a meal. Now as far as their menu options goes... there's noooo complaints!!!! Their food doesn't have a mass produced pre frozen taste, and their hot wings are killer!!! The texture of their food is great, the quality of their food is great, and...... they have an AWESOME drink selection. I ordered a martini (can't remember the name of it) but I could tell I was perfectly mixed, with proper ratios of alcohol. Not too sweet, not too strong and it was mixed with care and flare, my drink had gummy candy in it. Cool!! Verses other bars that either water your drink down with too much ice, or make your drink too strong by throwing everything together. Bar Louie doesn't do that. Over all Bar Louie is where it's at!! My husband and I went there today for lunch. He ordered the BLTT Bacon Lettuce Turkey and Tomato sandwich and he thought it was good. I ordered the BBQ burger and tater tots and it had evil pickles on it (my fault forgot to ask to keep them in the back where they belong) it had no BBQ sauce and told the server and she brought it out for me. It was good. The tater tots were not very hot and she replaced the order with more cold ones! Shh don't tell anyone but the hubby doesn't like when I expect good food and service and say something when it is not. read more

Bar Louie is definitely a hot spot on a Friday night near UP Mall. When our party of 10 arrived we attempted to sit in the bar area but it was just to packed so we ventured back to the dining room area & were seated quickly. Our server took our drink order right away. The margarita was good and another patron got the rat pack martini that she loved. The downside was the service was slow.... too slow... and the server took food orders from only half the table so we had to hunt her down to place the rest of the order. The spinach dip is AMAZING!
