Well it was disappointing. The server was slammed so the food came out lukewarm. We asked for condiments that were supposed to be on the burger they never came out. Talked to a manager when he brought the condiments over but the server had already taken the burger back to be made correctly. Then didn't see the manager again. They take care of the burger but at this point we were done. I would not go back. The 3-star is cause the server was trying and the drinks were well made. The food was ok. read more

I encountered some communication issues between my table and the kitchen. When I requested extra toppings on my El Toro burger, all the default toppings were removed, leaving only the extras I asked for (lettuce and tomato). Additionally, when I ordered extra green sauce on my chicken nachos, I received the nachos without any sauce on top, just a cup of green sauce on the side. I loved the chicken nachos. My burger was no bueno. The staff members were wonderful. I particularly remember the friendly woman with glasses and curly blonde hair, as well as the Cuban guy. Trivia: Soooo, short story time. I'm sitting at the bar, enjoying a delicious burger and truffle fries with Parmesan, while watching John Wick, without sound, or subtitles, on the TV. In walks a guy (think marathon runner meets Army drill sergeant) who sits down three seats from me and orders a White Russian. A White Russian? At 930 pm? I've sat at a lot of bars and I have not heard anyone order a White Russian in...well...ever?! So, what are the ingredients of a White Russian? And now the review: Great service. Fast. Friendly. Professional. Even though the place wasn't slammed, they continued to work, clean, visit with customers, and maintain a chill environment. Tasty burger and fries. The ambiance is relaxing, exactly what you'd want the resort restaurant to be. Think sports bar meets fine dining. With the added bonus of an outdoor seating with fires. If there was a negative, it was the burger. She asked how I wanted it and I said medium. But there was zero pink on that thing. I was able to easily sub the Parmesan fries from the appetizer menu as the side for the burger. Anndddd, I was allowed to take my beer back to my room to finish. Some places are weird about that. But not here. One final note, John Wick was a weird choice for the TV, especially without subtitles. But was that more weird than a White Russian? read more

Was not expecting how good this place was based on the stars. The macaroni was soooo delicious! The pasta was probably the most perfectly cooked pasta I've ever had. I'm not even exaggerating! It was sooo good! Plus it was the perfect balance of cheesy but liquidy as the same time. Their dessert menu is not lacking in any way. I will be coming back to update you guys on the chocolate skillet dessert! Update: I got the cookie skillet! I'm used to those being pretty large so it was actually nice to have a small enough portion to finish without feeling like you're going to explode afterwards. My friend got the cheese curds and they are a must if you like cheese at all! I thought they would be spicy since they were advertised with jalapeño but they weren't really spicy at all. As a guest of the hotel I wanted something on site so I could avoid the heat. You seat yourself and there's only a few wait staff but they are prompt. I ordered a prickly pear lemonade, fish tacos, chips and guac, and sweet potato fries. The tacos were okay, they had a bean paste and then the fish but it was lacking. The chips and guac were good since they came out warm. The sweet potato fries were so good, perfectly crispy and thick cut. I also really enjoyed the lemonade. Food was tasty and convenient if you are staying at the hotel. read more

This lounge bar is inside the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. We were spending the weekend for Valentine's and while waiting for our room to be ready we decided to have a couple of drinks. I sat down alone while my husband checked on our room status at the front desk. There was a young lady standing around playing with her hair right by the cash register talking to herself loud enough for us to hear. Saying things like "this place is so boojee ". So I immediately looked for someone else. ANYONE with a brain. Thankfully the older, much nicer, much more professional lady, came just in time and she took our order. Not only was she professional, polite and fully dressed, but she had ideas of other drinks we might want to try. Hubby even had an Irish coffee which went great with the chill outside. Next time we go, I will make sure I mention this to the Manager, if I have a similar experience. I honestly didn't have time to babysit that little girl who forgot to finish getting dresses that day. Otherwise, I would have told the Manager that not only was she bad mouthing the clients, the establishment but also the co-workers and the fact that she had to be there. Hopefully, she will not be there next time LOL. If I see her I will run the other way LOL. For bar food, it's pretty darn good. I definitely would like to acknowledge the amazing service by Anna our waitress! She was warm, friendly and knew when to check on us. She wasn't too talkative and that was great because I was having a business dinner after and event. Maybe she knew Any way, I really enjoyed having her as our waitress. This place is pretty large and has both bar and table seating. It has a bar feel to it though for sure. I went back the second night and they had a guy playing and singing. He was pretty good and it wasn't too loud or too low. It was perfect! The food is okay. I had a burger with gluten free bread and fries. The fries weren't as hot as I like but that's just me I would definitely come back again and would recommend eating or hanging out for a drink if you don't want to be out and just want to go back to your room afterwards. They also have free hot popcorn!! The smell hits you when you arrive in the foyer of the reception area and literally makes you want some. Great way to pull people into the bar because you will want some popcorn when you arrive!! read more

JD's Lounge is located on the Scottsdale Plaza Resort. They offer a sports bar type dining option for guests and visitors. This is a seat yourself kind of restaurant. There is a bar as well as dinner table and high table seating. When we arrived, we found a seat and were waited on promptly. Waters were provided immediately. We ordered chips and salsa to start, and a coal fire grilled pizza! The pizza was fantastic - you can create your own, though they do offer three popular, local options too. Options on the menu include burgers, sandwiches, tacos, and other sharables like wings and nachos. We ate here from dinner, but I imagine they are open for lunch as well. For two people to share a pizza our total came to right around $65, so prices are a bit steeper for two than you might expect. Mind you we did not have any bar beverages during our meal. You can also order take out, or have food delivered to your room if you are staying on the resort. Overall, a good dining experience. read more

When we first arrived they waiter stated that she would be right with us. She did not come back for about 15 minutes. I had to keep staring in her direction for her to finally come over. I ordered the Cactus bite off the drink menu & that was pretty good. For my entree I got the chicken/bacon Mac and cheese and BLAND is the nicest word I can think of. My husband had the jalapeño burger and loved it ! I did taste his fries and they were amazing! The three stars are due to the slow service and the bland Mac and cheese. I ate here two nights in a row while attending a conference at this venue. The staff were friendly, not very expedient, but we were a large party and they were nice. First night, I ordered a burger and fries. It was better than fast food, but not a great burger. The fries were quite good. Second night, I ordered a chicken pot pie. The presentation was amazing, more what I would expect from a resort restaurant, but not necessarily from the lounge at that resort. The presentation is where my amazement stopped. The flavoring of the pie was quite good, but the chicken was way overcooked. I mean so dry and stringy and chewy and gross. My friend had ordered another chicken dish and reported the same. The atmosphere is nice, and if you're looking to drink and have not great food, you're good. Stay away from the chicken. read more

The reason you get two stars here and not one is the fact that the wait staff is good and the food was decent. However the decor is drab, and well past it's prime. I was here for a conference, and therefore there was not too much of choice to get a cold one and watch the game. There were several TV's, although most of them were small and this place is pretty crowded when you get 15 or 20 people inside. The food was pretty good I must admit, but again the stale green carpet and dark wood paneling leave a little to be desired. read more

This is a cozy place for locals and hotel guest to hang out with no pressure. The best part if having Holly singing on Friday and Saturday. It livens up the place. Stayed at this resort for a conference and spent a lot of time eating at JD's! Servers seemed very attentive and pleasant, food was fine quality, price was reasonable, and the atmosphere is great. There are huge TVs all around showing whatever sports events are on at the time, buttery and salty popcorn at every table -- pretty good experience all around. I didn't have a bad meal, though I thought that their monthly special (a Hawaiian bison burger with sweet potato fries) was the winner of the weekend. It's not likely that I'll be back to the Scottsdale Plaza unless I come to another conference, but if I do, I'll have no problem eating at JD's. EDIT: Updated to drop from 4- to 3-stars because they don't have the Pac-12 channel in the sports bar, but they do have it in all the hotel rooms. What??!! read more

We got the Southwest Chicken Sandwich and Tuna Sandwich. The tuna wasn't really flavorful, kinda bland. Nothing special. The Southwest Chicken was good, but messy. It fell apart really easily. Chicken was cooked perfectly though, not dried out at all. The fries were okay, would prefer them to taste more fresh to order, but instead they were sort of stale. My brother got married last weekend and was staying at the Plaza. We ended up at JDs for a celebratory early dinner because Remington's was closed on Sundays. We seated ourselves on the patio area and it would be several minutes before our server Josh appeared. I told him that we were celebrating my brother and his new wife married that afternoon. Josh responded rather sarcastically "Good luck". We were all a little stunned by this remark. I don't remember my exact response but it was something like "at least pretend to be happy for them". Josh held up his left hand to show his wedding band and told us "I'm married ... Good luck". Wow. What a crappy server. You have marriage troubles? So sorry, but don't project your negativity and sarcasm on someone else's happy day. Fake it till you make it, buddy. We ordered drinks but never got a glass of water as you would receive in every other American restaurant. We ordered our food and I think ended up putting for a second round of drinks at the same time. It was at this point hat Josh seemed to try to turn it around. All of the sudden he was trying to be friendly - saying he would ensure our drinks were perfect blah blah. Food comes along....Ho hum. My brother had the salmon with veggies. You know those frozen mixed vegetables that come in the microwaveable steamer bags by Green Giant? Yeah, he got those. At least that's what the side looked like to me. I had tomato, onion and green pepper fajitas with some shrimp- oh wait, sorry, "Shrimp fajitas" is how they were advertised on the menu. With Mission brand flour tortillas. My boyfriend's Cuban sandwich looked good but he only shrugged when I asked how it tasted. That was the general consensus amongst all of us: the food was "Meh". My boyfriend quipped "Coco's by any other name..." So We brought in a little cake and Josh is trying to be "Super Friendly Helpful Server" now and offered to bring us plates and even offered to cut the cake for us. I guess he finally realized his tip was on the line. I recognize that he did try salvage his service but it was too little too late. In the end we had a $200 bill, half was drinks. The drinks were good. The food was overpriced, bland fare comparable to Coco's. The service was a little slow. It was a Sunday afternoon, no Big Game was on, not crowded. We weren't in a rush or anything, but it just added to the poor experience. Hope Josh gets some job and marriage counseling to help with his attitude. Our service was friendly. The steak fajitas were tough...beef jerky tough. The shirmp fajitas were good, but 4 little shrimp in the combo was sad for the price. Four Peaks White Ale on draft was a big plus.
