Owner (or Manager, not sure) was very present and friendly and you got the feeling they were most concerned with our group having fun over anything else. The fajitas were enough for a kids meal (small portion) and the chicken tasted funky. The nachos were good sized, but unlike most joints, everything, and I mean everything, other than the chips and cheese came with a cost. Beans, salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese - all extra. The pulled pork was an expected up charge, but it tasted like it was a week old. You know that taste, like it was left over or cooked well before being served - days before. Just terrible food overall! This might be a good place to grab a drink or watch a game, but leave your appetite at home or eat at your own risk. We will never go back!

This is the norm here and includes the entire staff. New buddies Shane and John, who made room for me and I, enjoyed our conversation, the match, and great atmosphere. I ordered my favorite (off-menu) Cuban sandwich with a side of extreme horseradish and steak fries. So good I forgot to get a pic. After settling my tab I returned to the also great pet grooming spot nearby to bring our pooches home. I would've enjoyed staying but duty called. Once home I received a wonderful thank-you text from John with a photo. His first (& highly likely not the last) Cuban sandwich! So delicious. Photo is his. What an incredible day!

As a side, y'all Ranch eaters need to grow up and be adults and start ordering Bleu Cheese. There's a whole different taste explosion when you stop eating Chicken tendies with ranch, a toy and a cleverly shaped box it all comes in. Come on over to the Bleu Cheese side and watch your finances grow, you'll find the woman of your dreams (or man), you'll drive a car instead of taking a Segway to work; possibilities are endless. I digress... Tavern Grille is one of my favorite Scottsdale staples. It's worth anyone's time to drop in and enjoy the experience.

I actually discovered this spot through Instagram because of an event they were hosting today, and the turnout was incredible. One of the highlights was getting to meet the owner and the entire team. They were all so welcoming and genuinely kind. As a small business owner myself, I even brought some of my CookieCakes to share. The owner had never met me before but immediately showed so much support and emphasized how important it is to uplift small businesses. That meant a lot and really speaks to the heart behind this place. Now let's talk about the FOOD... because I'm a tough critic and a total foodie -- and everything exceeded my expectations! I personally ordered the buffalo chicken pita, and it was absolutely amazing. The pita bread was soft and fresh, and the buffalo chicken was melt-in-your-mouth good. Paired with the ranch, lettuce, and tomato... perfection. Everything else I ordered was spot on as well. I also have to mention how clean this place is and how welcoming the atmosphere feels. You can tell the team truly cares about the experience they provide. I highly recommend everyone give Detroit Coney Grill a try. Don't just take my word for it -- make the drive and treat yourself! Such an amazing team working together. Thank you for the incredible experience -- I will definitely be back!

Huge positive on the Bloody Mary, it was wonderful. I had the cod; and they were fine with replacing the french fries with avocado and tomato slices (gotta watch what you eat when you're old !). Parking wasn't an issue in the large, complimentary lot they share with a bunch of other businesses. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical well-kept bar and restaurant. We sat at the bar, though there is plenty of table and booth seating if that's more your jam. Service (4/5): Our bartender was new but she was super friendly and accommodating. I had to grab her attention a few times, but overall, solid. Drinks (4/5): One of the nice things about The Parlay is that they have happy hour every day until 6. We took advantage of it for the last 45 minutes or so. Happy hour consists of discounts off of their cocktails and appetizers, which both are large lists. I enjoyed two drinks off of the happy hour menu including one with a huge smoke bubble. My third time having a drink like this and always a good time. I think the bartender got the ingredients off a slight bit, but she'll get better with practice. Food (3/5): The food is a hit and a miss. I had three appetizers: the fried avocado, the steak bites, and the pretzels with fondue cheese. The best of the bunch is the fried avocado. Think of an avocado deep fried in the same way you see a bunch of foods at the carnival. Pretty much anything is good in this format, am I right? Beyond the avocado, it was served on a bed of a corn and crema slaw of sorts which was delicious. Good portion size. In the middle were the pretzels. I love cheese so this is my type of appetizer. The soft pretzels were soft and buttered well. Solid but a smaller portion size than I anticipated. And lastly, the steak bites. They're served with flat fries and drizzled with a sweet sauce. Good portion. The problem. I ordered it medium rare and it was well done. You can't mess up steak like this. You shouldn't even serve it. The chef messed up so he or she should have started over. I'm not the type that returns dishes so I ate it, but it took away from the dish a lot. While I wouldn't run to come back to The Parlay, if happy hour is involved, and I'm in the area, I'd check it out again. Hopefully they can work out some of the kinks.

They're the equivalent of draining a 60-foot putt on 18 after shooting a 102. The round was a disaster...but that one putt is enough to convince you to come back. That's the Zipparita. We usually go to the Camelback location and have great experiences, but today we went back to the Via de Ventura location with a group of nine. Several of us ordered our fries extra crispy. I understand it's subjective, I would have been perfectly happy with the "normal" Zipps fries that everyone else at the table received (and anyone who's been to Zipps knows they're usually on the softer side anyway). Instead, my basket came out looking like the fries had barely met the fryer, limp, and bordering on raw. They weren't close to "extra crispy," they were about as far from extra crispy as you can get. Our server, K, offered to have another basket made, which I appreciated. A few minutes later, another basket arrived with the explanation, "They only look uncooked because we just changed the oil." Sadly, they were hot, but somehow even more uncooked. At that point, I asked to speak with a manager. She offered to make a third basket, but by then I was halfway through my meal and didn't need them to try a third time to cook a basket of fried. She simply said, "Okay," and walked away. No apology, no acknowledgment that they had served raw fries twice, nothing. When the check arrived, there wasn't any adjustment, discount, or even a simple "Sorry about that." I mentioned to K that I wasn't surprised nothing had been done, and she replied, "We can't take a whole focaccia off the bill because of bad fries." I wasn't asking for a free meal, I said take $2 off, or buy me a $5 Zipparita. Better yet, just apologize. Any of those would have sufficed. K did go ask the manager one last time, but returned saying, "Sorry, my manager said no." I still tipped 20%. My wife thought I was crazy, especially considering the attitude we received, but this wasn't about getting something free, it was about basic customer service. Mistakes happen. Raw fries happen. What shouldn't happen is acting like it isn't worth a simple apology. The disappointing part isn't that the fries were bad. It's that two opportunities to make things right came and went, and nobody cared, but everyone had a bad attitude. The good news? The Zipparitas are still undefeated. They'll for sure drag me back. I'll just be sticking to the Camelback location, where the servers are consistently friendly, the managers actually seem to care, and somehow they manage to cook fries all the way through.

Unfortunately, I have not heard back. Below is a copy of that email: Good morning, We came in on Saturday, April 4th, 2026 and ordered the Two 4 One Bubbles special. This is something we have ordered frequently in your establishment, most recently on March 8th, 2026. Every time we have purchased this, the Wycliff bottles have been $25. This means that we should receive 2 bottles for $25.01 based on the special listed on your menu. When we received the check, we were charged $50.01 for the 2 bottles. We pointed out the mistake to the bar tender who said the price was correct. We informed her that we have come here approximately once/month for the last year and the cost has never been $50 for a bottle of Wycliff. She asked another employee to come over and we explained the same issue to her. She (we did not get her name) said she has been a Manager there for several years and that has always been the price. I told her we have ordered this special over the last year and we would never pay $50 for a bottle of Wycliff. She refused to adjust our check. I asked her to show me on a menu where a bottle of Wycliff costs $50. Of course, she was not able to do that because it doesn't exist. We generally are very generous with our tip, as we consider this a good deal and the staff is usually great. - I have attached a copy of the receipt. We would like to continue to frequent Mother Tuckers, as we have always had a good time and like to bring friends visiting from out of town. I am hopeful this was an oversight by your employees and a refund will be put back on my credit card for the overcharge.
