Definitely not for me or what I ordered. We left just before 9pm, which was when the DJ started playing some good jams. People started rolling in too. So cool to have bar vegan in Baltimore! Came in on Friday night with some friends who don't necessarily try vegan food and we were all very pleased with our meals! I had one of the shrimp dishes along with the noodle situation and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! We also had fries and other appetizers. If you're new to vegan entrees I would say come with an open mind. The flavors were exceptional and as a hard core carnivore, I was impressed (and not because it tasted like meat but because it was just tasty). Service got a little slow towards the end of the night as the crowd picked up quite a bit, but our server was very accommodating in helping to remedy that. read more

Not a vegan or a vegetarian but found myself here after my cousins and I left Whiskey on the Waterfront at Sagamore. We came during happy hour so I got a margarita and chicken Rest my "Ques"adilla. We also ordered other things for the table: cheesesteak egg rolls, fries, and Brussel sprouts. Everything was so good I forgot it was vegan. I will say that the chicken quesadilla was just ok. I traded a piece of mine for a piece of my cousin's steak quesadilla and I enjoyed the steak more than the chicken. Also, my margarita tasted like straight tequila. It wasn't mixed well. Came for happy hour on a Wednesday. We were there for over an hour and the tvs were on, no sound until the music started playing. There's not alot of options compared to the regular menu. I did appreciate the mocktail options since I don't drink. Our waitress Amber was attentive. Everything I had was good, however I didn't understand the old bay all over chik'n quesadillas. Also, a vegan/tofu sour cream would be a nice addition. They did make a quick yogurt and lemon "sauce" but it didn't pair well. Do expect to get triple taxed though. Gorge decor, great vibes, lovely staff, great customer service. I visited this evening (Friday) and it was so chill. I was elated to see they had TV screens so I could catch the Knicks vs Pacers. I ordered the following. Maple Glazed Brussels - Very tasty. Not too sweet. Mocktail (What-a-Melon) - Very smooth. Fresh fruit. The only issue was how the loud the DJ was. If I could give Bar Vegan more than five stars, I absolutely would. An acquaintance and I drove all the way from Brooklyn, NY specifically to visit Bar Vegan, and they treated us like royalty from the moment we walked in. That first night after the drive was an entire vibe. Their espresso martini--made with almond milk, I believe--was different in the best way and so, so good. The food? Don't even get me started. The Bang Bang Shrimp, Cheezesteak Eggrolls, Elote Street Corn, and Maple Brussels Sprouts were all hits. Every single one. We loved it so much that we decided not to rush back to NYC and make a full weekend out of it. One of the owners personally recommended ROOST Baltimore Pennisula, a nearby apartment-style hotel, and wow--beyond awesome. Truly the perfect suggestion. We came back to Bar Vegan for brunch, and somehow the experience was even better than the night before. Our server, Shavone, was phenomenal--attentive, kind, warm, and just an absolute joy. We also got to meet some of the kitchen staff preparing our food, and I made sure to give them their flowers because listen... I am not vegan, and I loved everything. The omelette, sausage, shrimp and grits, chopped salad, French toast, and fresh-squeezed juices were all superb. Before heading back to NYC, we stopped in one final time that evening--and once again, they did not miss. The oxtails and jollof rice, Brussels sprouts, corn, and potstickers were straight fire. I truly wish nothing but continued success and growth for this place. Bar Vegan deserves all the love, all the recognition, and all the thriving. We came as visitors and left as fans for life. I finally had a chance to try Bar Vegan but only for drinks and desserts. Let's dive into my experience. First, shoutout to Rey, the best bartender in town! This woman knew her mixes and wasn't afraid to push the envelope, or shaker, to serve up some AMAZING drinks! My mango margarita was an example of that but I'll dive into that part a little later. Ambiance: this bar is perfect for date night or a night with your friends-it welcomes either party. They had a live DJ and tv screens playing sports and videos! Drinks: my cousin ordered a green tea with Jameson and babyyyyyy that drink might be added to my summer must haves. It was lite and refreshing and packed a great flavor. I ordered the mango margarita and honey, I'm still floating over the flavor and generous serving of tequila. This drink was EVERYTHING! Dessert: we ordered the deep fried Oreos which came with a side of coconut ice cream and honey, I've yet to try another fried Oreos worth bragging about! These were DELICIOUS! And the ice cream was rich, creamy, and memorable. Would I return? YES, count me in! I'm planning a return as we speak. I visited Bar Vegan just after having a burger over at Slutty Vegan, so while the menu offerings looked really good, I was already full, unfortunately. My party and I were seated at a table for 6. Bar Vegan is definitely a vibe, it's been well decorated to create a comfortable space. That said, the volume the music is played ruins the tranquility. It makes me feel like an old person to say it, but I couldn't hear a thing the people across from me at the table were saying. We asked them to turn it down, but they said it was loud to cover some shrieking noise. Regardless, the music volume was an issue the whole time we were there. The good news is the music was awesome! Our server was nice but on the slow side. It took a long time for us to order, for drinks to come, to be able to pay, etc. I did like the energy so I will definitely return with an empty stomach. Bar vegan was recommended by their Friday night DJ while in town at another local bar. This place did NOT disappoint! The bar has a very classy, vibrant aesthetic. I loved that the walls flipped up creating an outside space. The weather was nice so the breeze being able to come through was amazing! On Friday they had a DJ with a live drummer, and the music was great. The drinks were a little on the expensive side but definitely made well! Both the hostess and our server were friendly and made sure we were satisfied. We had already eaten before we got there so we didn't try the food hence the reason for 4 stars! This is a beautiful establishment! Very colorful and vibrant. The music is entirely too loud ! At 7 pm the volume is so loud that you cannot carry a conversation. My party of 3 sat at the bar and 2 of the 3 meals came out within 20 min. My friend waited for onion rings , egg rolls, and fries for almost 30 min. Food is OK . I had the fried fish wrap using oyster mushrooms and steak fries. These mushrooms were battered Downnnnnn and the fries taste like frozen grocery store potatoe wedges. I washed it down with a What a Melon Mocktail . The Mocktail was cool but the cucumber pieces kept getting stuck in the straw and all of the sweetness was at the bottom of the glass when the liquid was gone. Yelp is incorrect. This is a vegan restaurant and bar. It is black owned. They open early on Sunday. Decor is beautiful and new. Very spacious inside with high tops, booths, and low tables. Then Ryan Da Lion came to take over djaying, but it was more like a pick a song Playlist not djaying and music was blasting in my ear smh, but eventually he turned it down. I ordered a what-a-melon cocktail with lemonade instead of soda water. It was delicious. FYI fruit pieces are in it, so it is not just flavored liquid... I also ordered the chicken and red velvet waffles with a side of bacon. It is like one breast cut into 6 slices and comes with 3 french toast slices. There were 5 bacon slices. I was so shocked by how flavorful the bacon was! OMG the best vegan bacon I've ever had. I wish I could buy it in grocery stores instead of buying MorningStar vegan bacon. The french toast was good and I loved that cream they drizzled on it. The chicken was good too. The fruit was fresh and sweet. Service was great. I sat at the bar and place was empty. Bartender was very nice and welcoming. ABSOLUTE FAVORITE ITEMS THAT I WOULD ORDER EVERY SINGLE TIME I VISIT: BACON and WHAT-A-MELON MOCKTAIL NOTE: CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED except as an extra tip. They put gratuity in the check automatically, which I don't like because the staff gets taxed by it instead of allowing customers to fully tip in cash. This was a pretty disappointing experience. Came with a friend on a Friday at 6:30p. The place was mostly empty but had a few other customers. We were seated by a hostess but then had to wait about 8 minutes until a server came by to ask if we wanted drinks, but he didn't even have water with him... The inside is very well decorated - it has great looking furniture, neon lights, and decor. The menu itself was extremely small, about 8 items total. My friend and I split a few things but the options were so limited and not great if you're vegan, half of it is available at most restaurants. I thought an all vegan restaurant should be more unique. 2 of the items were Brussels sprouts and corn on the cob... well that's not special? We got the cheesesteak Eggrolls, corn on the cob, and the general tso dish. The Eggrolls were ok, it was too much "meat" and not enough of any other filling/veggie. The corn was elote corn but it was on the cob, pretty inconvenient to eat... I'd suggest making this a dip with chips. The general tsos was good but it's just fried tofu, something I can make. The main issue is at 7:30p, they started absolutely BLASTING music. Like we could no longer hear each other and our waiter started screaming at us so we could hear. I refuse to scream so I just pointed and shrugged a lot. I would've stayed for another drink but I guess they were trying to turn it into a nightclub so we left... again at 7:30p... peak dinner time. Lastly, our waiter put the bussing bin ON OUR TABLE to clean our table. Ew! With other guests dirty plates in it. Honey, you need to clear our table, you can put it in the bin on your own time... that was nasty. Then they automatically include gratuity for all table sizes. I always think this is tacky unless it's for large groups. Overall, the experience was pretty bad and the food was ok at best. For a Friday night it was nearly empty and I can't see myself ever coming back so I have no idea how it will survive. read more

Met a group of friends for a birthday celebration. Setup is nice - trendy decor, but I have to agree the music was too loud to hold a conversation. We were seated closer to hall leading to the attached burger place (Slutty Vegan) which also had separate loud music playing - so we had to yell to communicate with the people at the table. I enjoyed my What a Melon mocktail, Brussels were well-flavored. The wrap was more like a huge burrito - some in our group liked it. There was a DJ playing music and it was very lively which we liked. Our server was attentive and polite. We got a couple of beers and placed our food order. I have dined here 5 times. It's a good vibe with a nice ambiance. What's Good? 1. Food. It's vegan food but very flavorful and seasoned. I have had most of the appetizers with the Brussel Sprouts and Cheesesteak Egg roll. 2. Drinks. The alcoholic drinks are also quite strong with the Bourbon Smash and What A Melon being by go to. The mock-tail are around $7 and you get a 16% gratuity added. 3. Music. Usually the DJ sets on Wednesday and Friday have been good. What's bad? Noise. The speakers are loud and it's been like that every time I am here. You can barely hear the person you are sitting next to and I always have to make a request to turn the sound lower. That sucks. I visited Bar Vegan for dinner on June 29, 2025 for the first time and will happily return. The restaurant is gorgeous and clean. The service was attentive and friendly. As for the food, my husband and I ordered two items, both flavorful and cooked to perfection: the Street Corn and Cheezesteak Eggrollz. Two things could be tweaked but are small enough to not lower the rating: The evening we went was hot, with peak humidity, but the restaurant had the huge garage-door-style wall open to the outside, so we were eating while sweating bullets. The dipping sauce for the Cheezesteak Eggrollz is spicy, but the menu doesn't mention this. We like spicy food, but many people don't, so indicating degree of spicy-ness will lessen how many meals diners send back to the kitchen. Finally, a wish-list item: An expanded menu. Options are limited, so before going, potential customers should be sure to check the menu online to be sure the restaurant will have something they'll want. read more

As someone who lives in the city and struggles to find really good vegan food, I truly appreciated how flavorful and creative everything was. The mushroom quesadilla was everything--so cheesy and satisfying, I didn't miss the dairy one bit. And the Brussels sprouts? Wow. That spicy sauce had serious heat but was so good I couldn't stop eating them. Definitely a must-try! The mocktails were also really well done--super refreshing and tasty. Music does not need to be that loud, they should take into account that some people might have sensitive ear drums. (Especially if it's not even busy or people dancing) 1/10. - Automatic 20% gratuity is crazy, but I'm glad our server was friendly, accommodating and attentive. So she deserved it. Still I rate 4/10 for the gratuity. - There's only like 4 apps and entree options, and entrees were options that I could've made at home but better. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which were good, but were missing the toasted sesame seeds. I ordered the "fish wrap" for my entree and nothing was fish like about it lol, not the taste or the look. It was overly battered small fried oyster mushrooms, over seasoned and salty as well. The "crab dip" sauce was ok, there was nothing crabby about it. My friend ordered the chick'n quesadillas and it was underwhelming; stuffed with all the ingredients falling out when you try to pick it up. They only give you a vegan sour cream that had a taste of vanilla extract in it. I will hand it to them the presentation of the food was nice. 8/10 for the Brussels and 6/10 for our entrees. As much I want to keep this spot a secret, it's worth sharing how lovely this spot is. We were randomly recommended to give this place a try after considering going home (Topside) and it was lovely experience. The staff is extremely attentive and knowledgeable, there's plenty room to sit or stand, and the inside is stunning. My friend noted that the wrap she ordered was very tasty and of course the drinks were on point. My fave part is the location and how beautiful it is inside.
