All I can say is don't miss this place! Take a moment to take in the ambiance of the space, it's like an art installation. The views with the wide open doors is gorgeous. And most important, the service is impeccable. RICH was the best in presentation, service & over all experience. We wanted for nothing u see his watch. His sidekick, I feel horrible that I can't recall his name, was amazing as well.

We came during a busy time and generally they like for you to have reservations but fortunately they had room in the VIP section so we were sat in seconds. The room is cute and has good vibes but it definitely is VIP. Closed off to any people watching. We got the crab bisque, flatbread stuffed pepper and it was amazing!! I ate all of my plate. The waitress was very kind and attentive. I had found something in my food and I wasn't sure what it was so I asked the waitress and she wants sure. Honestly, I wasn't pressed about it and still ate the whole thing. She said the manager was going to comp me but I told her NO! I ate the whole thing I Will absolutely pay for it. She still took it off so I left a %50 tip. Excellent food, service and prices. Must recommend!

I've been here three times and I'm always impressed with the atmosphere and experience. We sat in the bar for this visit and had a three course dinner. Started with a few appetizers, and of course had to get the table-side guacamole. It's made custom to heat preference so we got medium this time. Ryan was our server and attentive the entire time. I ordered the salmon for dinner and it was incredible! A few friends of the steak, and it looked great too. We got a couple desserts to share, the ice cream donut and crème brûlée. Overall amazing meal and service.

It's been a few years since I have been to Barbacoa. Tonight we came in for my husband's company late Christmas Christmas party. Last year we celebrated at their sister restaurant Coa Del Mar and enjoyed every bit of it. My husband and his co workers can't get enough of the filet hot rock. It was an unanimous vote to come to Barbacoa to celebrate our post holiday dinner. Our first interactions coming in was not pleasing. I will have to say, the hostesses were quite rude and unorganized. Our table had already checked in and sat. We were the last ones to show up. The hostess had a hard time locating our reservation even though our party was already somewhere in the dining area. We repeated the reservation name to her several times. Clearly she wasn't paying attention since we had to say it over and over again. After several attempts, she finally located our party. "Someone will guide you to your table". After standing there for a bit we realized no one was going to "guide us" anytime soon. It's such a shame that we started our experience with this kind of service. We ended up just locating our party on our own. She was completely useless in the help department. Our server had gotten drinks started for our table since we got there late. She got us squared away after we got ourselves situated. We breezed over the menu while she grabbed our sodas. Guac was also started for the table. The table side guacamole never disappoints. We toasted, enjoyed our appetizer and hung out till our server was ready to take our orders. I ordered the ribeye tonight. My husband got the filet hot rock with a couple of his co workers. I asked for my ribeye to be really well done. With my new kidney, I can't really have undercooked steak. Our server reassured me that my steak will be cooked well done and that it was going to be great. For my side I got some asparagus. I have had the asparagus every time I have eaten here and it's always fantastic. It was busy tonight and there were quite a few of us in our group so our food did take a minute to get prepared. But after everything was dropped off, I knew it was worth the wait. Our food looked phenomenal! The gentleman who poured my husband's cognac sauce did a great job, great presentation. I got my beautiful ribeye on a black board placed in front of me. My friend next to me ordered the salmon. On her salmon was a vibrant orchid. It added such an elegant touch to her plate. Everyone's food looked fantastic. This is where I compliment the chef. My ribeye was juicy, flavorful and it had outstanding char marks on it. For my ribeye to be cooked well done, it was so tender. The sauce that was paired with it was tangy and spicy. It was the perfect sauce for my ribeye. The asparagus once again was money. I ate a little more than half of my steak and I look forward to finishing it tomorrow. Dessert was a must after we finished dinner. I have had the fried ice cream pops in the past. They are too good! But the bananas foster was calling my name tonight. Our friends next to us ordered the same dessert. The rest of the party got the fried ice cream pops. The presentation for the bananas foster was magnificent. We dug right in after the flame went out. The bread pudding was divine. The gelato that came on the side was sweet and creamy. Paired together the bread pudding and gelato was the ultimatecombination. As full as I was, I had to finish this lovely dessert. Our start wasn't the best. The hostesses are the first people to set the tone of your dining experience. I'm happy that our server, the vibe and of course the food made up for such horrible first interactions. Our server was on point and so was everyone else who tended to our table. With Barbacoa having such a rich and romantic vibe, it resonates in their food. Everything about tonight was lovely. Looking forward to coming back when it's warmer so we can sit out on the patio by the water. I can't think of a better way to enjoy to have dinner.

Great decor and location, especially with Halloween additions. Service is always top notch at this restaurant and their others. Love their "BOGO" (buy one, get one) drink specials during happy hour. Everyone loved their meals. The rib entree is HUGE (sorry, no pics). Definitely need a to-go box. My carne asada could have used some more seasoning. Chose the hot rock and sauce and even though the sauce is delicious, it doesn't say "carne asada". Could have had some different and additional sides to make your own tacos but still a good dish. Would not order this entree again with all of the other good options. Would some here again.

SO DELICIOUS everything we had was absolutely delicious we started out with guac - they asked how spicy we wanted it which i thought was a nice touch paella was seasoned well, full of flavor and had tons of different proteins seafood mixto was a lemon forward pasta and was perfect to go with the other dishes the new york strip was amazing, love the idea of the hot rock and get the cognac sauce on the side we got the zucchini chips on the side of the steak and they were perfectly crisp! sliced super thin!! Barbacoa Grill is definitely one of the most unique dining spots in Boise. The atmosphere is super cool artsy, modern, and a little over-the-top in a fun way. It's a great place for a date night or special occasion. The food was overall really good. The wagyu steak is full of flavor, I wish there was no sauce and blue cheese on the top and the table-side guacamole is fresh and well done. Oyster was fresh. The chicken wings were good , polenta was delicious. The lemon tart was really really good. Service was excellent ,attentive without being overbearing, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. It's definitely on the pricier side, but totally worth it for the experience. If you're looking for a place that combines great food, atmosphere, and a memorable night out, Barbacoa is the spot.

Traveling from LA to Boise for business. After settling into our hotel we headed out to dinner at Barbacoa. Having been to many great restaurants up and down the California coast I wasn't expecting much more than a nice dinner out and to my surprise it turned out to be one of best dining experiences under my belt. The food was so very savory and flavorful. Gourmet for sure in my book. The presentation was lots of fun, engaging very welcoming. Service was on point and very tentative especially considering how busy they were. Friday night what can I say. It was a great time. The restaurant was very stylish with a red themed vibe which made it alluring and relaxing. Trendy but setting the pace in their own way. Another one of many good reasons to return to Boise.

This place is amazing! The food, atmosphere, the service and you get an amazing view! I got salmon and it came with veggies and rice! Everything was cooked perfect and so fresh! My husband got duck 2 ways and he said it was so juicy! We got a lemon dessert that was so sweet and tasty! The service is amazing and they had happy hour drinks! What a great experience! We went to Barbacoa in downtown Boise for a birthday celebration and it was an incredible experience! The food was amazing from start to finish. We started with the table side guacamole, which came with both chips and vegetables for dipping. For our entrées, we had the lamb chops, two hot rock steaks, and the paella, and every dish was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. For dessert, they brought out a cotton candy cake with a flourless chocolate cake hidden inside, complete with a birthday candle. We also tried the cheesecake bites and the bananas foster, and they were all delicious. The service was excellent throughout the night. Prices are on the higher side, but this is definitely a high end spot perfect for special occasions, and worth every penny. We sat inside, but with the doors open we enjoyed beautiful views of the mountains and pond, which made the evening even better. I highly recommend Barbacoa, especially if you're celebrating something special!

My husband took me to Barbacoa for my birthday. We had a great time, so I didn't want to upset the mood by complaining, but my Seafood Mixto was pretty bad. I ordered it because, well, I can cook a steak at home. But to prep the variety of seafood on this plate, hand make the pasta for the "spinach linguine in a spicy cream feta cheese sauce", then cook it all to perfection. Well, that to me was worth the $72 price tag. However, the seafood was room temp, the crab meat came in the form of itty bitty shavings, and the handmade linguine was overcooked, gummy, solid, and there was no trace of the "spicy cream feta cheese sauce" as promised. The noodles reminded me of refrigerated store bought Japanese udon that comes freshly made in a oxygen deprived plastic pouch. To revive it you place it in boiling water along with the spice packet. Before placing it in the water it looks like a brick of compacted noodles. My Seafood Mixto noodles looked like that brick. They were never placed in the proverbial boiling water and revived. They were just plunked on a plate and covered with the seafood and a pretty orchid. In some sense I would've preferred cooking and eating a $3.50 store bought package of Japanese udon, than being robbed $72 by being promised an experience I never received. Also, three servers came by and asked me how I liked my entree and I said "the noodles are overcooked, hard and gummy" to all of them, but all I got was a "I'm sorry to hear that" and they went on their way w/o attempting to make it right.

This is a place to go for a celebration. Whether a birthday, anniversary, promotion, Graduation, etc. this is the place to indulge. The menu is over the top and the dining room matches it. Expect a loud and lively atmosphere. This is not an intimate venue, more of a party! The food and wine options are bold, unfortunately so is the pricing. This is not a location to penny-pinch. Due to its bombastic nature, this will not be a place for everyone... but that's ok!! Due to its decibel range and price point this is a once or twice a year dinner for us. Service is above average, particularly nowadays... bordering on exceptional. If you lean into the experience and let go a bit, you can have a fantastic time with the fire and flair! Just be aware you are paying for the atmosphere as much as the food, otherwise you'll be bitter. Would highly recommend to the self-aware. read more

This place gets really good reviews but I don't know why. Our overall experience was poor, especially for the price. I can't recommend Barbacoa Grill. OK let me start with a positive. If you sit outside and the weather is pleasant, there is a good view and it can be a nice experience. See the two photos. Four of us went to dinner and we started with the made-at-your-table guacamole. We ordered it medium and enjoyed the kick. The chips were only average but that didn't detract from the appetizer. This is worth getting. The meal went downhill from there. The special was a 12 ounce 35-day dry-aged ribeye with Gorgonzola purée potatoes. The meat was excellent and, as an exception, was cooked to order as medium rare. The mashed potatoes were dry. We ordered extra butter and sour cream which saved the dish. The paella was fine but unremarkable. There was too much bland tasting white fish -- over cooked and dry tasting. The spice was off as well. The seafood mixed grill had a nice presentation hanging from two skewers over coconut rice. But the fish itself was disappointing. The scallops were good, the shrimp was ok but both the salmon and white fish were bland and dry (just like with the paella). People rave about the coconut rice but it's only ok. The hot rock filet was a disaster. We ordered it medium and it came closer to rare. We asked for it to be refired, as even the waiter agreed that it wouldn't cook enough on the stone. Sadly someone decided to cook a new meal rather than fixing this one but apparently didn't put our meal at the front of the line. It took 15-20 mins before the new steak arrived. By then everyone else had finished their meal. The manager who brought the replacement meal didn't event apologize -- it was clear that he didn't care about the mishap. I can end on a positive note -- Kevin, the server, was attentive and polite. But he couldn't make up for the subpar food and indifferent management. The food is expensive and there are much better places in Boise. Avoid Barbacoa. read more

Go for the great food! OR Go for the outstanding dining experience! It doesn't matter why you go, you're going to get both when you go there. Get a steak, get pasta, get risotto. Enjoy the drinks... My guess is, you'll be glad you went. Barbacoa is such a relaxing but eventful dining experience I'd even treat myself by going alone. I thoroughly enjoyed walking in the place, the interactions with the staff, examining the menu, the ordering experience and of course the food itself. But go with others, share the"event". I'm bettin' you'll be glad you did. read more

I have a short story to tell ....My husband and I visited Boise ID end of June 2021 a friend told us about the Barbacoa Grill I will admit this has to be the one of BEST restaurants ever in fact we ate dinner here two nights in a row . Our waitress was Brittany an unforgettable young lady, we wanted a table with a view and she made it happen this requires a reservation, the food is delicious, drinks are so good , the staff is amazing and the view....well you know we loved it lol. No doubt 5 stars nothing less and yes we will come back soon! read more

While in Boise a few weeks ago, my friend made us reservations for Saturday night at Barbacoa. She was so excited to show us this restaurant! This restaurant's design is quirky, eccentric, and eye catching to say the least! I am so glad she put in a reservation! The place was packed and there was a wait when we got there. Probably also didn't help, there were large prom parties eating dinner there too that night. We ordered: - Table side guacamole (def gets extra points since this is made table side, and they have you sample it to make sure they seasoned it to your liking) - Coulotte Steak & Cajun Shrimp on a "Hot Rock" (Also loved that they don't charge you extra if they put it on a hot rock for you!) - Side of asparagus - Cotton candy birthday dessert Everything was delicious! I split the steak and shrimp with my friend and so glad I did! I was full after all that food. Then our other friend mentioned it was my bday, and they brought out this giant cotton candy dessert dish! Cotton candy is my fave! I feel like this place is a "special occasion" kinda restaurant. Walking through the doors you will be in awe of the ambiance and decor of this impressive Boise restaurant. It really is one of a kind and an entire experience. This continued on with the food and drink. The steaks come on on a hot roc that they pour a delicious sauce on and it lights the steak on fire finishing the cooking of the steak. Get your cameras ready for it. I loved the huckleberry cocktail in the ice mold. Delicious and fun. Our food was all delicious and the service was great as well. The only complaint was the restaurant was hot as we went on a 100 degree day. This place is hopping so reservations are highly recommended. read more

Wow this place always exceeds expectations. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding!! One of our servers, Justice, made our experience EPIC. He was always close by to take care of every need (especially our kids) before we even asked. We had the filet mignon, steak sandwich, filet mignon fettuccine, flatbread, macaroni and cheese, and table side guacamole. All were incredible and I could not recommend more. read more

Waaaay over-the-top charges for middle of the road services and food quality. My birthday meal was sooo salty, clearly from the "chefs seasoning rub", that I couldn't eat it. This is my first time here! And we loved it so much! If you come to Boise this is a must stop! The girls at the front desk the bartenders the bus boys were AMAZING I had the best dinner I have had in YEARS, and very reasonably priced. Demitrios And Cole were so friendly! We have eaten here more times than I can count and it's always been amazing, but we came for my wife's B-Day dinner and I was so disappointed. There are FLIES everywhere we had flies landing all over us and our food. We were inside not outside. They tried to battle them with candles but then we were breathing the smoke the whole time. Bottom line is the staff should have warned patrons that they are having a pest issue. Further when we told them how miserable it was trying to have a celebration dinner, the server just laughed it off and brought another candle. We had 2 other upcoming events planned for dining at Barbacoa and we have now changed venues. Food is great but I'm going to spend $3-400 for dinner I should not have to contend with flies. read more

We love going to Barbacoa! The ambience is amazing as there's so many cool elements to look at! Even the bathrooms are fun! The bar is way cool! I am still trying to figure out what kind of restaurant it is lol but the menu is great, lots of options! They serve martinis in ice molds which are super fun and tasty! The table side guacamole cart is yummy! The hot rock steak is a must for your first time! There's lots of side options to pair with! I wouldn't recommend the spicy broccoli, and we didn't love the Mac and cheese with the ham/peas in it! My daughter loves the cotton candy at the end! The service was great, but the restaurant can be very loud! And I would highly recommend having reservations! read more

Went for a birthday dinner here. Steaks and lamb where cooked perfect. The sides where also very good. Our desserts came, little disappointed in the lollipop tree ice cream pop. Cream brûlée was ok. The best was the s'more if you go here have the ribeye, NY steak it was delicious. Not necessary to do the hot rock, we ordered lamb on the hot rock. It was ok. Reservations are needed as this place is very popular. read more

I just wanted a small pre-dinner appetizer snack. The place was packed on a Friday during Happy Hour and was booked until 10 pm already! The place had a modern and high energy vibe. My 5 star rating is moot as this place is booming with awards, certs, labels of affirmation. However, I wanted to recognize our staff that blew me away. Their Bar service was led by Ryan who might be one of the most skilled tenders ive ever seen. He took our liquor of choice and taste preferences and custom made a cocktail for each of us. It was also refreshing to actually be spoken with rather than to. It made me miss having a conversation rather than be treated like a tip dispenser. We were led to the patio where Zach continued the 5 star service and gave my wife and I one of the best dinners of our last 10 years. Again, great conversation, and incredible recommendations led to a unforgettable 3 course meal with perfect drink pairings for each. We just stopped in for some dessert and the ambiance. The decor is so cool. Next time I want to sit at the bar and have a drink or two. For dessert we had the creme brûlée with hot banana fritters and coconut and pineapple flan with toasted macadamia nuts. Each was beyond delicious. Everything was amazing, we got sat right away, our server was great, the food was incredible. We got appetizers, steaks, lobster tails, wine, and dessert. We ordered a ton of food with the intent of having leftovers. The reason I'm leaving this review is because I'm hoping the owners/managers will see it and train their bussers to BOX EVERYTHING when a table asks for their food to be boxed up to go. We told our busser we wanted our food boxed, and I told him we wanted everything because he seemed like he didn't understand. Evidently he still didn't think we wanted two of our lobster tails, cheesy broccoli, or cognac sauce for the steak. We got home and went to eat our food the next day and couldn't believe half the food was missing. $19 lobster tails were thrown away. Such a waste and a disappointment. Please train your bussers not to throw away food. read more

The food was delicious, but for the fact that one of the employees burnt me would choose from the steak coming to the table, and now I have a scar on my leg the general manager Tandy only cared about my clothes and not about my burn. Delicious and fantastic experience! One of the best restaurants I've been to when visiting Boise. This was my second time here and the food and drinks were even better than I remembered. Friendly and prompt staff, pricing in line with giant portion sizes, and an awesome trendy yet understated elegant type atmosphere. This time I had the medallions on skewers over rice. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Boise. Not only do they do food and drinks right, the atmosphere is top notch. While this place isn't the cheapest, it's definitely worth the price. We typically get the fish special, especially when they have halibut. Their chop salad is to die for and their ribs are fall off the bone. Their martinis are served in ice glasses, which I've never seen before. Certainly keeps the drink cold! Service is always top notch as well. You can't go wrong with Barbacoa. Alavita is an upscale Italian restaurant, and I'd recommend making reservations, especially for dinner. My first visit was with a reservation for one, while my second was a walk-in where I managed to snag patio seating. On my first visit, I started with the House-Baked Focaccia, which came with truffle-honey butter. The focaccia was light, fresh, and served pre-sliced. The honey and butter combination was absolutely divine and paired wonderfully with the bread. It honestly made me wonder why more Italian restaurants don't serve something similar. For my entrée, I ordered the daily special, which I believe was a cheese tortellini with shrimp and corn in a lemon garlic sauce. It was flavorful, deceptively filling, and paired well with the focaccia. While it wasn't the best pasta I've ever had, it was a satisfying and enjoyable pre-race meal. On my second visit, I started with the fennel and arugula salad, which featured fennel-apple slaw, pistachios, rehydrated cherries, lemon, olive oil, and shaved Parmesan. I particularly enjoyed the cherries and pistachios, which added nice sweetness and crunch. Not mind-blowing, but certainly good. For my entrée, I had to try the Rigatoni: braised local beef, black garlic-truffle butter, roasted local mushrooms, spinach, pickled red onion, lemon crema, and Grana Padano. I ordered it because so many reviews mentioned it. I don't eat beef very often, so this was a bit of a treat for me. The braised beef was tender and flavorful. Interestingly, my opinion of the dish changed as I ate it. Initially, I had it around a 3.5/5, but by the end it had climbed to a 4.5/5. This might sound strange, but I found that when I slowed down, closed my eyes for a bite or two, and really focused on the flavors, the dish came together much better. The richness of the braised beef, the garlic-truffle butter, and the mushrooms became much more noticeable, and I found myself appreciating the combination more and more with each bite. For me, it was one of those dishes that rewards slowing down and savoring it. Overall, I highly recommend Alavita for Italian food in Boise. The service was friendly, the food was thoughtfully prepared, and both meals left me satisfied. The lemon garlic shrimp tortellini special made for excellent pre-race fuel, and the rigatoni was a memorable post-race meal. I went on to finish 10th overall in the Boise Half Marathon despite rainy conditions and the challenges of running at a higher elevation than I'm used to, so I was certainly grateful for the quality food beforehand. Hope to be back the next time I'm in the Boise area. Visited June 2026.

Bottom line: Overrated and over-hyped. I'll start with the good: Wonderful build-out of a restaurant. Compare to Fogo De Chau in Washington DC, or Roy's Hawaiian Fusion in Los Angeles. Very hip/urban vibe. Great location adjacent to a pond. Party was sat quickly without a reservation. The portions are a good size. The guacamole table side with chips were the best I've had in Idaho. Attractive staff (and patrons) throughout. Very large restaurant - can have big parties in there no problem. Artwork is fancy and strange. Now for the bad: The steak was WAY undercooked - very rare (blood oozing). The dessert was sub-par at best...was frozen and reheated or something. Very dry. The prawns were a huge mess and a disappointment. They were de-veined, but not de-legged. It was a huge project to get to the meaty insides of the prawns. Soft-core porn in the men's bathroom was playing on a video screen above the sinks, which was completely inappropriate. Several young boys were taking their time washing their hands. ESPN would have been fine. The restaurant is very loud due to the cathedral ceilings. Even though no one was seated right next to our party, we had to ask our server to speak up several times. The prices were way too high for the quality of the food. You're paying for the experience, as others have said. While the build out is wonderful, I don't have any desire to return to Barbacoa. read more

So, this is a very expensive place to eat or drink. The service is great, Waters are always full, wait staff is attentive and can answer any and all questions, very willing to help. The men's bathroom is super cool, the ladies is way too pink. It is a very loud atmosphere, so it's hard to hear conversations, so if you are looking for an intimate conversation and dinner, this won't be it, but it's a great place to entertain. The decorations are amazing, lots to look at and at Christmas time.... Superb. The food is great, the Rock filet is amazing, and comes with a show of fire, the glaze is super yummy!! The ceasar salad is a little clumsy, you have to cut it up yourself. The table side guacamole is great too, I think the people making it get tired of it, you can go from mild to very spicy. The drinks are incredible too, great flavor, the huckleberry mojito is very tasty. It is just too pricey for my wallet, it would be a great place to go for a group or celebration but just know you are going to spend a lot more. I'd been to ~100 restaurants in the Boise area before this one, and I thought all hope was lost to find a good restaurant here, thinking that's what I get for living in Idaho. But Barbacoa might be the best restaurant I've been to, anywhere. To start off, the service was very good. Both the server and assistant were very friendly and attentive, even to the point where the server helped re-fold the napkin when a guest went to the restroom. The food, both in terms of presentation and taste, was amazing. We tried several dishes, including the calamari, Caesar salad, a short rib pasta, a steak, and two desserts they all looked and tasted great. Prices are more expensive than the average restaurant, but that's to be expected for what's probably the best restaurant in the valley. Additionally, portion sizes are actually pretty big for the price and quality. For example, my short rib pasta was 1.5-2x the size as one from Olive Garden or Cheesecake Factory (whose portions are already huge), and it tastes better and you get short rib, so in a way it's actually cheaper. read more

Wow! My friends were truly impressed with how we were greeted by the hostess. Instantly we saw the art and that was amazing! We got seated and instantly was greated by our waiter Wayne Bright. He was exceptionally professional. He right away offered us a house specialty ice-tini and of course he got the curosity of us and had to ask, "What is that?" Well, let's just we were sold! Wayne was by far the best waiter ever. He was so funny, informative, and so professional at the same time, which is a rare commodity these days. I must say we loved all the wine that he suggested. The small touches and details that adorn the walls, the tables, the light fixtures, and yes, even the bathroom, make you feel special and a part of something fancy. The table side guacamole is accompanied by comfortable and responsive service, wonderful happy hour specials, and the most delicious chile relleno you've ever had. We loved this place! We went here for a late dinner on a Sunday and there was an hour wait time. We were seated at the bar, which I honestly enjoyed. We experienced an attentive server/bartender, who checked in on us often (but not too much) and was very personable. We got the asparagus fries, cocktails, urban burger, a fish dish (sorry - I can't recall the exact name), and the butter cake! Everything was PHENOMENAL and we enjoyed it all! Regardless of what entree you get, I would 10/10 recommend getting the butter cake -- it was so moist and delicious! If you're new here, or been here for a bit but haven't tried BGrill, I would definitely recommend it! Just be forewarned that the wait times can be bad on weekends! read more

Hands down the worst, most pretentious restaurant in Boise. After reading the other reviews on here, I vomited a little bit in my mouth. The service is by far the worst I have ever experienced. Honestly, you would get better value for you money if you just flushed $100 down the toilet. The bartenders were rude, cocky and unavailable even though I was tipping well and the bar was empty. The menu is far beyond anything the cooks have the talent to prepare. The decor is absolutely absurd. If this is what people in Boise think is a fun bar or good restaurant, I feel terrible for the entire city and I am going to consider moving. Not impressed by the soft-core porn playing in the men's restroom. There is no warning before men (AND BOYS!) are exposed to this trash. Seriously? It's a bathroom. Also not impressed by the MASSIVE portrait of a woman with her chest hanging out. ?? This review is no good if you just want to know what the food is like. We had desserts and we thought they were great. But promoting a culture of over-exposure to sexuality is inappropriate for a restaurant. Our concerns were brushed off by the manager. We won't be back. We can get the same experience of being "over-sexualized" by merely walking down the street or turning on the TV. No reason to pay for it. read more

I have always been a fan! Such a wonderful and unique experience. Chef Martinez has always been so accommodating, I have always left happy and full. Portions are so generous, the easily become a second meal for the next day. I love that you can have a formal experience in the dining room, or a casual experience in the bar/lounge area. I can go in for light drinks and appetizers during happy hour, or for a full on formal dinner with wine pairings and multiple courses. I am excited for the summer and the patio season, one of the best views of Boise overlooking the parkcenter pond and a Tablerock. - everything about this place screams awesome. read more

This place is way overrated. Every time I have been there, the ambiance has felt like a nouveau-riche thrift store mixed with an Ed Hardy t-shirt and covered in rhinestones. The last time I was there we were seated outside where dozens of flies swarmed the table. We couldn't enjoy the fresh air because all we could smell was the citronella candles used to discourage insects. Our view was mainly of a broken back window covered up with a piece of plywood. The food was good but not good enough for the price in combination with the irritation of the surroundings. I'll say this, if you want to go somewhere you'll never forget, go to Barbacoa. read more

TERRIBLE RESTAURANT/BAR. Do not waste your time or money on Barbacoa. The food is horribly bland, vastly overpriced and they can't cook anything right. The drinks are poorly made, the bartenders are EXTREMELY RUDE, and the management basically told me to go f*** myself when I tried to politely raise a couple issues I had with the service. I never complain or write reviews but my experience was so incredible horrible, I am honestly considering buying the domain, boycottbarbacoa.com and not sleeping until this place is shut down. If you hire bartenders with this amount of class, you do not deserve to be in business read more

Love this place, Super excited for the rooftop that just opened. One of the best views in Boise. The manager gave us a tour and showed us up on thursday for after dinner drinks - it was awesome. Must Try the Table Guacamol, made perfectly every time. I also really enjoyed the mini tacos, I think I could eat brick after brick. The service was great, they were always attentive, I don't think my water was ever half full, they were always refilling and checking back with me, but not being annoying. I think this will be a new favorite for my friends and family. Boise needs more places like this. read more

This restaurant is truly exceptional! The decor is breathtaking, with fascinating wall art that creates an incredible ambiance. It's definitely an upscale vibe and the outstanding service is attentive to detail. The culinary experience is equally impressive, with delectable dishes like guacamole and chips, perfectly cooked steak, savory pot pie, and unforgettable fries - probably the best fries I've had in years, maybe even the best! I was looking forward to a special night out but it turned into a disaster. First, the waitress spilled drinks on my fiance then a waiter dropped a dish and the pieces of broken dish and possibly mayonnaise that some one had eaten out of flung into my hair, on my face, and on my shirt. The food also splattered on the side of my fiance's pants and shoes. The waitress was apologetic but seemed like this matter could be taken care of by comping a nine dollar desert. Last time we went, we ended up sitting in the patio. Very nice decor and greeting at the door. In the patio we could hear the bar music mixing with the dinner music, a bit bothersome but we knew we where outside. Our meal came and it was lukewarm but still good. After our meal and we paid the bill but we stayed at our table talking for an extra 20 minutes. Well NO one came back to our table to see if we'd like desert or a refill with our drinks, it was like once they had our money, we were invisible. This isn't a hole in the wall either. Love this place! The only reason they did not get 5 stars is they are a bit slow...but I will wait for their food ANY day on the week!! Their steaks are better than any steak house - including Chandler's and Morton's (if any of you are familiar with them.) Great food, super friendly staff, just wish they had more kitchen help so the food came out quicker!! My favorites are the hot stone filet, tableside guacamole and the california chopped salad. After we paid our bill we sat talking and were thinking about desert at our table. Not once did the server come back to see if we would like a refill on our coffee or water.
