    Lengua and Barbacoa tacos
    Eddie C.

Definitely worth the walk from the court house! Had jury duty today and decided I needed to treat myself to some good tacos. I found Tortuga Bay, a small unassuming Mexican fast food joint that serves up tacos. I ordered a smattering of street tacos and sat down to chow out. My first was birria, juicy tender tacos soaked in plenty of consomme. It was bit under seasoned but over all very good. Next up was my Baja fish tacos. The man behind the counter recommended I take a fork to this one and he was right. A large fully stuffed taco that hit all the food groups and all complemented the battered fried fish in the middle. The carnitas tacos were equally good and filled with pork fried just the right amount so that it was still moist and flavorful. My favorite was the lengua taco. I was so happy with this taco. It was perfectly cooked: moist and tender and perfectly seasoned. Unlike many of the other eateries around that have no idea what perfectly cooked tongue is supposed to taste like and feel like as you bite down. Service is friendly and the place was simply furnished and clean. Next time more lingua and pozole!

This place is delicious!!! I saw them chopping up the ingredients fresh. I can't wait to try the fresh juices. I would definitely recommend this spot. Taco craving was satisfied. I tried the shrimp, Asada, fish, and Barbacoa.

Great food, excellent service and great prices. I went in for the tacos and decided to try the nachos too! Excellent!

This is my second time here for the fish tacos, so I obviously like them. The place is located across the street from Inglewood high school. It's a small mom and pop joint in a small shopping center with minimal parking. No ambiance what so ever. One thing I noticed each time I come is how when taking my order there's no welcoming smile or customer service. The faces are flat and unwelcoming. When someone Hispanic order is taken, there's smiling faces, laughing, and welcoming customer service. I go to places not only for the food but for the service, and for that reason I will not be back. The fish tacos are good but not worth how I feel when I'm here. I will drive to my other fish taco spot across town because the service and the tacos are fabulous. I would give this place a 6/10 for the tacos and 4/10 for the service. I will not be back. One good perk is when you check in while you're there they give you a free agua Fresca or horchata. They need to work on their customer service to those who aren't Hispanic because they are in an area where there are different ethnicities and everyone should be treated with the same service.

Hidden random joint in the city! I actually just stumbled upon this place during my lunch break and trying to find a good place to munch on. The place looks like an ordinary taco/ burrito place from the inside and out. This place looks sketchy at first because of the "urban" or "ghetto" feel like around the neighborhood but relax its not really that bad. The menu items are plentiful and trying to pick the right grub will take some to choose. The menus are self-explanatory, but the employees always are happy to answer any questions.. I think that's what they are thinking too lol. There are people sitting on the outdoor, so I took my food for to-go instead. The food is good (I know it's a general explanation.. but yea it is good). I ordered their Plato de Beef Birria or Beef Birria Plate (see.. its quite explanatory). The plate have Spanish rice, grilled onions/bell peppers and pinto beans for their side. The taco is a crunchy and feels like eating chips with meat in it which is awesome. The birria meat is good and not dry at all compared to most of the Birria places. When I picked up one taco, it is drench with sauce from the inside.. damn.. I am getting hungry by just describing that feeling. If you want #foodporn in your IG story then you should go here. Overall, a great recommendation to a friend and definitely going back here again :)

My son suggested we stop at Ghost Sando Shop before I dropped him and his fiancée off. Great idea. I ordered "the melrose" which seemed to be their flagship sub. It was at the top of the menu--seemed to be basically a turkey bacon ham club type of deal with a kick. Despite there being probably at least 15 ingredients, all I could taste was mayonnaise. The entire texture? Mayo. Blech. I didn't eat the second half. Solidly OK if you like mayonnaise. Who knows. Maybe "the melrose" just ain't the thing to get here. Not so sure I'll be back though.

Guess what they wanted as soon as they touched down? You got it! Sorrento's Italian Market here in Culver City! Now supposedly over the weekend they're going to make up for their surprise and lack of common courtesy by taking me to some nice restaurant apparently! I'll believe it when I see it. Settled on some hard salami and the sheer smell that emanates from the market. You've heard of or better yet even witnessed the smell that emanates from Pirates of the Caribbean? Well, Sorrento's market has its own unforgettable smell, and it usually winds up in a net gain of about 5 to 10 lb for your waistline. So other than some hard salami, I was sure to get the you know what out of here quickly! But do come by folks! Come from near and come from afar. My family just came from New Orleans (which happens to be the 1st city-yeah even before New York...that saw Sicilians specifically bring their great cuisine to this land) and the first thing they wanted was some hard salami from Sorrento's 2,000 miles away! Lol The spirit of Sorrento's market lives on through current owner Albert Vera Jr, who continues to do his father, mother, and the city of Culver City proud. It's not Culver City if there's not a Vera somewhere, somehow.

Jackson market as a whole in terms of ambiance, variety, taste definitely overtakes bay cities but if you're just talking about comparing food quality sand which to sand which it will be a tough TIE (it's not less) than bay cities. Bay cities is loaded and so is Jackson but bay cities is a little more juicier where the inside sandwich ingredients shine more and you can definitely taste each of the ingredients eg banana peppers meats deli cheese etc. Jackson market's Italian sub had harder bread but I could see like some would argue it's more balanced. It definitely is a little less juicy and even though there were complimentary banana peppers I hardly tasted it at all as it was sprinkled far and few. If you paid for an added topping eg. Jalepenos they were definitely generous with it. Tip: DO NOT get the French baguette toasted as it'll be too hard. The market is fun because it also offers wine selections ($20-$60), not a fun cheese selection like bay cities, pasta salad, bomb tiramisu, has an entire PIZZA OVEN in the back, fun canned drinks including GUAYABA (an aloe tasting like drink), pastries, and chips/snacks. Ambiance - the patio in the back is spacious and big. They don't allow you to bring a computer to work there and the WiFi and service is pretty bad there. Parking - street parking along residential homes 2 subs ($14.99/each), 2 drinks, 1 large chip ($4.95) came out to be around $44. Overall an amazing find. The 10/10 would come back & especially try the pizza. Revolutionary in food taste ? Probably not but revolutionary in enjoyability and spot find? 1000%. Happy munching !

It's tucked away in a residential neighborhood and parking can get a little tight. When I walked in, it was a little confusing because I did not see any clear directions on how to place my order. I asked another customer who appeared to have been there before and he guided me to this counter with paper that had menu items on it. You have to checkmark the ingredients you want on your sandwich or whatever you're ordering. I wanted an Italian sub, I wasn't sure if I should check off ingredients for an Italian sub, or if just checking Italian sub and the type of bread I wanted would get me a sub with the standard ingredients for an Italian sub. The sub was definitely not what I expected, it was dry and flavorless. I wanted extra onions, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, and extra mayonnaise. None of those ingredients were present, and there was no clear way for me to make the request because it's nearly impossible to interact with the people preparing the food. When it was all said and done, I would definitely not order an Italian sub from here again. Definitely organized chaos! Or, just unorganized depending on how you look at it. It all just appeared to be a little chaotic. I also grabbed some tuna and watermelon, which was a refrigerated section in plastic containers. I ordered the tuna because it listed onions and celery as two of the main ingredients I look for in tuna. The tuna was dry and flavorless. I will need to add more celery, onions, mayonnaise, salt and pepper with a few other ingredients, which means I could have made it myself. I also ordered watermelon, which was not sweet, it tasted like it was cut too close to the rind. I'm still not sure how I feel about Jackson Market. Based on some of the responses from the owners, I don't think I would return. I don't understand why we can't come to a platform like Yelp and give our honest opinion without the owners responding so harshly, instead of taking the criticism and using it to their advantage, or not. As far as Italian Subs go, may I suggest Ghost Sando or Philly's Best? Even Jersey Mike's is better. IMHO! This review was typed on a mobile device, please forgive any typos.
