I get a fair amount of compliments and inquiry about my hair. This is a dash of genes and a whole lotta Beth. Beth has been my dear dear hair guru for three years now and I'll tell anyone I can get my hands on about her - She is amazing. This is the second salon I've seen her at and although it's fairly far way from my house, there aint no mountain high enough (or traffic riddled stretch of the i5) to keep me away from her. When I began seeing her I was desperately trying to grow out my hair. She understood "tiny trim" to the tee, taking off just enough to make my hair look rejuvenated but leaving the length. I have serious hair. Coarse, wavy, thick hair and she navigates it with ease. When I get a trim it look like a small dog is left on the ground, but you'd never know it by looking at it. She always takes off a lot of weight without compromising length which is exactly what I want. Beth is also a color QUEEN. I'm likely one of her more boring color customers because she takes fun colors to a new level with expert precision. I however received a fantastic ombre. I was scared, because lets face it you see a lot of ombre FAILS out there and I've worked too damn long growing this hair out to get it all messed up. I let Beth know I wanted something natural to brighten things up a bit and that's exactly what I got. It turned out beautifully, I couldn't have been more pleased with the results. When you're good at what you do, people of course take notice so she books fairly far in advance if you work standard 9-5 hours - if you can sneak out during work to see her you can get an appointment fairly quickly. Prices are affordable and Beth is an absolute doll so service is tops. I can't say enough about her. Beth is the ABSOLUTE best when it comes to ALL things hair. I was lucky to find her 2 years ago when I moved to Portland...thanks to yelp! I have a short do and she has shaped my hair to fit me perfectly and grow well with low maintenance. I have also gotten an oil slick hair color and now have black with a hint of purple...I have never been disappointed with her work and trust her artistic eye/decisions completely. I've been in Portland less than two years and have tried a couple different stylists here. With the way things were going I figured I'd just find someone to do one last color job to try and match the gray that's coming in so I can forget about it forever. I met with Beth last week for a complimentary consultation to discuss my plan and left feeling very confident about her understanding of it. Today was phase one - removing decades' worth of color from my thick, curly hair. We're mid-way through the process and I'm so delighted with the care Beth put into her work today that I'm reconsidering giving up on my hair! Over four+ hours, which really flew by with her, she could have taken shortcuts to move things along but she was meticulous with each step, expertly adding highlights to have me walk out the door with a color (and really cute cut!) Beth aka "Barbette Beth" is amazingly talented. She has been coloring, cutting, and styling my hair for years! She is especially gifted at fun fashion colors but great at the classics too. She's my go to beauty pro for all of my special occasions - photo shoots, Halloween makeup, weddings, etc. She is efficient with makeup and updos keeping me on schedule and looking fabulous. I went to Beth when she was still Beth Rowley at MAGDolls - now Beth Meharry at Lulu Grace. I drive over from southwest WA, and it is totally worth the drive. Beth has a kind, warm, and funny demeanor, and her level of professionalism and skill as a hair stylist is very high. I felt I could trust my hair to her hands, and she gave me the exact hair cut I asked for, working beautifully with my long, wavy-curly hair, which can be a bit of a challenge to some hair stylists. A wonderful hairstylist. I first went to see Beth a couple years ago to have her fix a disastrous haircut I had gotten from another stylist. She not only fixed the mistakes, she gave me a whole new fantastic style! I have fine, very wavy hair and Beth knows exactly how to cut it It's a bit of a trek for me to go all the way out to Milwaukee from downtown but it's definitely worth it! An update: I just had Beth colour my hair. I had been dying it very dark brown, basically a shade or so away from black, and wanted a change. She took it from super dark to a warm medium brown and I love it! I was honestly expecting it to only be lighter by a couple of shades but she did it! And my hair feels and looks healthy. I used to live in SE and went to Beth at her previous SE location. Then I moved to Vancouver and still made the drive. Now Lulu Grace is a bit further, but I wouldn't think of going to anyone else. Great prices, she's warm and friendly, and she knows what she's doing. Just over a year ago, I got brave and had her chop my hair off, something I was scared to do but had wanted to try for years.
