I showed her the photo above of the model with brown hair and asked if she could give me that haircut. She lifted my hair with her fingers, examined it, and said, "Sure! Piece of cake. You have plenty of hair to work with." Before she began, I explained that I had recently received a terrible haircut elsewhere . That stylist hadn't listened to me at all and I explained how frustrating that was . I had shown my stylist a photograph and had left with a completely different haircut. I came to Pinn specifically for a correction. The photograph of me wearing sunglasses shows exactly how much hair I still had when I arrived. I was extremely clear about what I wanted. I told her I liked my long curtain bangs and specifically asked her not to cut them shorter. She did anyway, as though I hadn't even asked her not to cut them. I pointed to the sides of the model's haircut and explained that I wanted mine left long, down to my jawline, just like in the picture . I also wanted the back long enough to reach the bottom of my neck, not the top. I specifically asked her not to give me a neckline haircut . My hair curls naturally when it has sufficient length, and that length was essential to creating the shape shown in the photograph. She assured me that this would be easy. I also explained that my hair can shrink by as much as two inches when it is cut wet. She said she understood and would cut it dry first. Several times during the haircut, I stopped her and said I thought she was cutting it too short. Each time, she laughed lightly and told me she knew what she was doing. She didn't. As the haircut progressed, my heart sank. She cut it extremely short while it was dry. Then she washed it and cut it even shorter while it was wet. She seemed irritated when I would stop to say she was cutting it too short. The finished haircut looked nothing like the photograph. The sides do not even reach the bottoms of my earlobes, much less my jawline. The back was cut to the top of my neck instead of the bottom. My bangs, which I had explicitly told her not to shorten, were cut SHORT . Instead of the longer, naturally curling style I requested, I was given a very short, straight pixie cut. I hate it.bi feel like crying every time I look at it. My best friend saw it and said, "OMG! What did they DO to you?!" By the time she finished, I could barely speak. When she asked whether I liked it, I told her it was too short. I had already told her that three times while she was cutting it, yet she continued making it shorter. She appeared irritated and asked me to show her exactly where it was too short. I pointed again to the model's photograph and explained that the sides and back were visibly much longer. It was as though I was talking to a rock. No response at all. There was no apology, no acknowledgment that she had ignored my instructions, no discount, and no effort to make amends. Instead, I was treated as though I were an unreasonable customer. I was not unreasonable. I communicated clearly and repeatedly. There was plenty of hair available when I entered Pinn, and she had already assured me that she could create the style I requested. This experience was genuinely traumatic. Before going to the first salon , my hair had reached my waist. Now, after paying Pinn's considerably higher price for a correction, I have an even shorter haircut that I never wanted. I also have to take a new driver's license photograph next week, and I am embarrassed that I may have to live with this haircut in that photograph for the next eight years. I had previously spent hundreds of dollars at Pinn on products and gift certificates for friends. That was my neighborhood "go-to" place for gifts. Never again. I will not return. I was disregarded while the haircut was happening, disrespected when I expressed my unhappiness, and made to feel responsible for a result created by the stylist doing exactly what I repeatedly asked her not to do. I am quite articulate. I could not have been clearer, and there is no excuse for treating a client this way. My request was not, at all, unreasonable. I walked into Pinn Salon expecting the cutting edge haircut that I asked for. The original haircut I had when I went in was close. I just wanted her to trim up the sides as I requested. At no time did I ever envision exiting looking like a school marm from North Platte, Nebraska.
