a plate of salad and a bowl of dressing

Placed a to-go order. My order is pictured next to the most SORRY burrito bowl I've ever seen. No salsa was added, MAYBE a scoop of chicken and rice, and there's more lettuce that chicken and rice combined. Never order pick-up from here. Also go into the restaurant and make sure you get your money's worth. UPDATE: the rice isn't even cooked. $22 down the drain...

With all the similar burrito bars in the world, there's subtle differences that separate one from the other. Barberitos excels in some areas and falls short in others, but overall I enjoyed the place and would definitely go back. Pros: -Freshness is a top priority and they don't even own a freezer up in here. -The whole place is super clean and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. -Options for flavored wraps and unique proteins like ground turkey, three different types of lettuce (the spinach is underneath in the fridge... just ask), and toppings like fresh cucumber or avocado. -They have queso dip (some don't... I'm looking at you Chipolte) and it comes in large quantities too. -Free chips. They're almost too thin, but they're free (quit charging for chips Q'doba!). -The good ice... you know what I mean Cons: -Although the staff is very customer service focused, they weren't the fastest bunch. One picky customer ahead of you can really hold things up. -With up-charges for a bunch of little things like $.90 for sour cream, guac, or avacado, you can end up with a pricey burrito in no time. -As I mentioned, the chips are too thin for my liking. As you can see, the pros strongly outweigh the cons. It seemed to me the best way to distinguish between all these similar entities of fast-casual tex-mex dining.

Barberitos Southwestern Grille & Cantina on Maybank Highway is a great place to get quick Southwest food that is fresh and delicious. The food here is tasty and well prepared and they do everything quickly here and still maintain really good quality. The staff here works really hard to make sure that you are well taken care of and get good food.

Extra large chunks of onion and green peppers. Over all , not impressive. Moes rules Tex Mex

Terrible service --- slow and clueless. Salsa splatters all over counter near register. I asked for lime , they were out at counter, young lady went to back and was gone 2 minutes searching for limes. She came out with lines and she forgot to put lime wedges in my box. Guac was not included and cost $1.39 for a spoonful -- I declined guac and bought some at grocery store (cheaper and I have extra guac left). The veggies were too chunky, especially the onions (big chunks of onion too strong). Chips super salty (yes expect salted chips, but tasted like I was eating a salt shaker. 2 large containers self serve of salsa near register -- I was scraping bottom of salsa Verde to get enough to put in cup. The young lady at counter saw me so this and heard me mention it was almost gone. All she said was "it's really good" and did not refill it. Moes is a lot better in quality and taste, as well as cleaner. I signed up on Barbaritos app for rewards and young lady rung me up before I could scan app for rewards at register. Even though Babaritos is right next to where I live, I will go the extra few miles to eat at Moe's, West Ashley from now on.

This is a quick and simple Burrito place. Not much to add to that just think of a smaller chain then the others im sure you frequent.

Higher Chick-fil-A franchise partners need to take notice of this place and the owners need to be in serious check. This business should just close its doors for final closing. Background: I love the business typically more so than 5-star restaurants and prefer this establishment over any other. Over 30 years experience eating in this establishment name. Current Establishment: This place is the worst one I have ever been to. How does the business take longer than 20 minutes to get the number #1 item on the menu? How do the cooks not have enough chicken cooked for a Saturday night in a tourist/college town? A group of 10 patrons stood around staring at one another waiting for food. Why did the management not hire enough employees to keep the chicken coming? Place needs new employees, management, and possibly new owner for keeping such fore-mentioned staff. I waited all day to eat this evening meal and spoke about it as if it were one of the other nearby $50 main courses to coworkers and family. When I finally indulged, the long waited meal was OVER cooked and was horrible to eat. This is my new worst establishment ever. There is no ambiance as there is no seating here.

The meat is well seasoned and they don't skimp you on the toppings. The service was really friendly also. The menus didn't offer an explanation of what everything was, so I had to ask. They have lots of sauces to choose from for your burger, so that's fun. I also think it's slightly pricey for getting just a burger with no fries, but maybe that's just me. Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants like Bartaco, but I've been pleasantly surprised: their food is reliably good! (Of note, the Bartaco in Hyde Park Village in Tampa DOES take reservations, unlike this one). I wish this Bartaco also took reservations. On busy days, you can easily expect a 30-45 minute+ wait to be seated here. That being said, the guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) and it came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).

We went back for our missing tacos, and they gave us an extra along with some chips for free. Overall, the food 10/10, but unfortunately the service could not live up to the same standard.
