Horrible- food not fresh/cold and flavorless- also not a clean establishment- will never return.

My kids love this restaurant and have had good experiences in the past, but this place is moving swiftly in a downhill spiral. Went in tonight with my kids and and it was absolutely filthy. EVERY SINGLE table had old food remnants, there were dead bugs in the windowsills, and filthy floors. One of the employees dipped his bare hand in the chicken container and popped a piece of chicken in his mouth. So gross! Honestly the employees all seemed stoned...slow moving and slow to comprehend. The place was practically empty and all 3 employees disappeared into the back room after helping the few of us in the restaurant. I never saw them again after that. Seems like that would have been a good time to wipe down some tables, sweep the floors, etc. Never again! read more

Gotta love food poisoning. Just moved down a few months ago and have passed this place lots of time and decided to give it a try. Walked in there and no one was to be found. A dude walked out who looked he had just finished smoking a blunt because his words were so slurred and he forgot to put on gloves so I reminded him. I repeated my order several times and he said oh yeah my bad man. I got my food on what looked like a hot dog to go tray. The chips tasted like they were made and brought in from a stale factory. No less I decided to try it and about an hour after eating it I had food poisoning. I will let everyone use their imagination on what happened. But yeah to say the least I will never be going back. It was okay when we were there the second week in August. Cons: The rice was a little crunchy, the person helping me a little grumpy, and the steak pretty chewy. And they were out of ice! This location is terrible. Have been here multiple times and have yet to enjoy the experience. Food was poorly presented, small portions, and rude staff. The tables were dirty and the overall atmosphere was grungy. A friend told me that Barberito's has the best guacamole in the world, so I had to check them out. The guacamole was on point, but the real star at Barberito's is the steak. On my first trip, I got a few tacos to try out all the meats and now I will never get anything besides the steak here, and that's not a knock on the chicken or other meats, which are also delicious. The steak is seasoned like my Mother-in-law's steak (she's Honduran and that's a HUGE compliment), so before she lived in town, my wife and I would visit Barberito's to be reminded of her delicious steak. The other ingredients are very fresh. The queso is pretty good and the chips are thin but they taste nice. Ordering is easy and you just move down the line and tell them what you want, just like at a Moe's or Chipotle. Overall, Barberito's is definitely worth visiting and make sure that you try the steak. read more

Unfortunately this Barberitos has gone downhill. The food is still alright, when they have the ingredients to serve. I went in recently and was informed that they were out of cheese and the shift manager was a no call/no show. It's pretty unkempt, and they've messed up my orders numerous times. Been going here for almost a decade. Much better quality then chipotle, qdoba, Moes etc. The steak is amazing and so is the spicy chicken. Lots of options and all the staff have been incredibly nice throughout the years. I wish they would franchise to Mt.P.... Barbs keep it up. read more

I've been going here 2 to 3 times a week for lunch since i moved to James Island. Barberitos is for sure one of my favorite TexMex locations in town. I've been going here for the last five years since i moved here. I love their nacho's and quesadillas the best. Their green tomatillo salsa is probably my favorite salsa ever. read more

Barberitos used to be one of my favorite spots. For awhile there I was in atleast once a week. For whatever reason I've noticed a major decline in this establishment. Food is still good but the employees are a little off. If it's busy they are so worried about getting to the next guest they don't really listen so when they start putting things in your burrito you don't want they seem upset when you confront them on the issue. The food quality is good , but the customer service here is unwelcoming at times. It gets busy and the people who work here don't listen , when it does appear to be busy. I've gotten countless orders with the incorrect stuff on it . They just want to get you out the door and give you food you didn't order. Had to update this review after today's experience. The employee who always has attitude blatantly folded my chicken quesadilla so it had only veggies on one side. So lame, he's always snarky and short. Love the vibe in here! Great paintings on the wall, the music is great. They have picnic tables to accommodate large crowds. The burritos are monstrous, I like to dip mine in their home made queso! If you are going to build your own burrito then do it here. Farm fresh describes the ingredients well, and made fresh daily is more than a store slogan. I wish I could give this place three and a half stars. It was nothing special - I've had much better. In was a small step up over Moe's, but still left me searching for my Chipotle or Qdoba replacement. I was less than thrilled by the employees. Their overall appearance did give me any comfort about the sanitary condition of my food. I did not need to see butt crack every time the young man preparing our food turned around. Also, someone needs to explain to them that the plastic gloves are pointless if you use the same gloves to prepare food and handle money. This is a quick and simple Burrito place. Not much to add to that just think of a smaller chain then the others im sure you frequent.

Steak was tough and hard to chew. Overpriced compared to moes. Chips and salsa were bland and lacked flavor. Tasted watered down. Salad was basic, not as good as moes. Seats are uncomfortable. Unfortunately for them, I actually work in this field so their excuses were not even close to acceptable. I absolutely would not under any circumstances recommend this business to anyone. I LOVE Barberitos! They have such a great quality product! I want to figure out how they make that spicy chicken because it is perfect! My boyfriend and I have had to limit ourselves to going there only once a week otherwise we would definitely go more often. I will be moving to West Ashley soon and I really would love for them to open up another location near the Walmart on Bees Ferry! They would definitely do well and it would make me very happy to be able have them closer. But until then I will definitely make the drive to James Island to get that spicy chicken. read more

We have been customers here for many years. The quality has diminished mainly due to the customer service. I'm disappointed that you no longer make nachos by broiling them with shredded cheese. Pouring queso over the top seems like a lazy shortcut. This has been one of the many lazy shortcuts we've noticed over the years from the staff.
