Just moved in to a new apartment in John's Island with my fiancé. We ordered for pick up while we continued to unpack. The order was completely wrong. She does not eat gluten so ordered 2 corn tacos. The only thing they got right was the chicken. Aside from almost every single topping in the taco being incorrect they also served it in a flour tortilla instead of corn. Waste of time and money. I can see where somebody will give three stars but I gave four and this is why. There's a Mexican restaurant right down the street. Normal Mexican look where you can sit down and have a meal. They offer the same genre of food but what they offer is a faster more convenient way here. And because of that slight difference they delivered on that. As compared to normal Mexican restaurants they would definitely be a three stars but that's not what they're trying to do. You have to understand what the business is trying to provide. I'm just saying that because I read some of the reviews and I think they're looking at it the wrong way. There was an employee who kept pulling his pants up every two seconds. I have a good and bad view of this place. I personally think they make some of the best burritos around and have the best chips I have ever had, but certain things throw me off. I often find an inconsistency in the food/service sometimes when I come. Certain times I can order with ease but certain times it gets very difficult to get my food especially when I'm rushing out. I have had employees straight up interrupt me to talk to their co workers literally right after they asked me what I wanted on my burrito. I have had employees not even roll up my burrito because they were too busy talking to their coworkers (I got a folded up burrito that came apart instantly) And then finally there was I time I walked in and no one else was ordering, the employees all looked at me and stumbled around on their phones before waiting a solid 5 minutes before taking my order (not saying anything to me at all) And worse of all the price of their food has gone up, and as this occurs, so does the stuff I speak about above. You end up getting all of this for roughly $20+ if you want a small side of queso and a drink. Not to mention they've taken a Chipotle esque approach with their profit and inventory margins. I assume this isn't the stores fault rather corporate telling them to put the most miniature scoops of protein on a burrito. You're left with a lettuce and cheese burrito with sour cream but at least the chips were good ‍.Nice people that work there but some of them can come off rude, even though I don't think they meant it maliciously. Keep doin y'all's thing with the food cause I enjoyed the burrito you got right, I just truly hope your brand doesn't get tarnished by a greedy corporate trying to suck up every penny. The location of the restaurant is 10/10, but unfortunately the food isn't. I ordered a bowl with a side of queso. The bowl tasted like a worse version of what I would cook at home - definitely missing seasoning and flavor. The price certainly didn't reflect the quality. I liked that it was fast casual and offered plenty of parking, but it seemed like the food had been sitting out for a while. I would love to see them revamp some of their menu offerings and include fresher ingredients with more flavor and spice. I always get the same thing because I love it so much (although I have tried the burritos and quesadillas in the past, and I can confirm they are delicious). Barberitos excels in some areas and falls short in others, but overall I enjoyed the place and would definitely go back. Pros: -Freshness is a top priority and they don't even own a freezer up in here. -The whole place is super clean and the staff is very welcoming and friendly. -Options for flavored wraps and unique proteins like ground turkey, three different types of lettuce (the spinach is underneath in the fridge... just ask), and toppings like fresh cucumber or avocado. -They have queso dip (some don't... I'm looking at you Chipolte) and it comes in large quantities too. -Free chips. They're almost too thin, but they're free (quit charging for chips Q'doba!). -The good ice... you know what I mean Cons: -Although the staff is very customer service focused, they weren't the fastest bunch. One picky customer ahead of you can really hold things up. -With up-charges for a bunch of little things like $.90 for sour cream, guac, or avacado, you can end up with a pricey burrito in no time. -As I mentioned, the chips are too thin for my liking. Terrible service --- slow and clueless. Salsa splatters all over counter near register. I asked for lime , they were out at counter, young lady went to back and was gone 2 minutes searching for limes. She came out with lines and she forgot to put lime wedges in my box. On first glance, Barberitos has a lot in common with rival tex-mex giant Moe's. But a closer look reveals very important differences. To start with, no one yells out a desperate, soulless "welcome to barberitos" every time the door opens. Big plus. Also, they make their pico from fresh tomatoes every day. In fact, all of their ingredients, with a few exceptions, taste much fresher and more delicious than their counterparts at Moe's. My only beef is with their chips and salsa. They dish out giant handfuls of chips with every order, and there's a free salsa bar, but the quality of both is mediocre at best. I've never understood why it's so difficult for places like Barberitos and now-defunct So-Cal Burritos to make a tasty batch of salsa, especially when their pico de gallo is so great. Yo Burrito does it right, mostly, but Barberitos' salsa is over-salted and lacking in flavor. That really is my only complaint, however. They offer plenty of vegetarian options, including very tasty chipotle tofu and sauteed veggies. Staunch Catholics should be delighted by their Fish Taco Friday specials. Their decor is, um, highly motivated, but the place is generally clean and the staff are pleasant and competent. Ooh, I almost forgot: 2 for $4 domestic or 2 for $5 imported bottled beers all the time! And they have some good choices, including Pacifico and Anchor Steam. read more

My first visit they told me that their meat arrives fresh every morning and is never frozen and you can honestly taste the truth of that statement. A large line of people will slow up the works but they just want to make sure that your order is exactly what you want so you can't fault them for it. They've got some great protein options and plenty of toppings. The ground turkey is particularly good and it's a healthier alternative to beef so it's not heavy or greasy at all. My Fridays are never complete without their jerk fish tacos, which I believe should be available every single day of the week, but I will settle for one. Every time I have been in I have found nothing shy of genuine smiles, not only to the customers but to each other as well.
