A Tex-Mex chain along the lines of Chipotle/Moe's, where you can build your meal at the counter. The person who made my food did it reasonably quickly, followed instructions, and wasn't unpleasant, and that is all you really need at this sort of place. The quality is similar to the above Southwest chains, but quantity for price may be better. I got a tofu salad here. I was a little worried about the availability of the tofu based on a previous review, but I arrived and there was plenty of tofu ready to go. There's a good selection of toppings for you to customize your order. The salad was good! Everything was really fresh and the tofu and salsa were flavourful. The serving was huge! Really good value - you could easily get two or even three meals out of one of these salads, and it's only $9. Chips and salsa are complimentary. I love these places with the self-serve salsa bars. I tried all three of the salsas on offer and the verde was my favourite since I like salsa verde in general, but they were all good. Worse ran business in Columbus Ga! I have been there once every week for the past month, and no matter what time I go they are always out of tofu, beans, rice, or something. Chipotle-like but with healthier options! Has wheat tortilla and salad options that has choice of romaine lettuce, iceberg or even spinach! Can mix the salad options too. I went with a steak salad with 50/50 mix of romaine and spinach, black beans and added guacamole. Food tasted great and salsa really fresh. Three types of salsa. My FAVORITE restaurant ever!!! I absolutely love the staff here because they're always in a great mood and super friendly. My favorite employee is the white man with brown hair and some facial hair, brown eyes too. I don't know he's always so friendly and makes me remember my experience. Food quality was adequate, but nothing to write home about. The margaritas ( $8 (!) each ) were served in a cup approximately the size of a sewing thimble. We were told that they were overpriced because they "have a lot of tequila". I was unable to taste any of the bottom shelf tequila over the much-too-sugary margarita mix, but I am confident there was very little. At $33 for two people, there are plenty of better dining options in downtown Columbus. This was an especially disappointing experience given that this place is operated by the same people who operate Your Pie. I've never had a sub par experience at YP. We won't be back here, and you shouldn't go either. Try the Cantina a few doors down if you want Mexican. You're welcome. read more

I stopped by here on Cinco de Mayo, as it's very close to my new home in downtown Columbus, and I'm a huge Chipotle fan. The interior is very nice and spacious, plus I like their app that enables rewards & payments. I had a bowl with steak, rice, black beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, corn, onions, cheese, sour cream & guacamole. I added some of their 'smoked chipotle' sauce from the salsa bar, which was very thin and not quite as good as the Chipotle flavored Tabasco sauce out of the bottle. I found the bowl to be lacking in flavor compared to a standard bowl from Chipotle. It was hard to put my finger on, but I suspect that the food at Barberitos doesn't have as much salt as Chipotle. I also had the small queso that came free with my first use of their phone app. It was pretty good, though a little thin in consistency. Overall I was a little let down. I was hoping that this place less than a block from home would serve as a good Chipotle replacement, but honestly I see myself driving up to exit 6 when I'm feeling the urge for a burrito bowl, rather than just walking across Broadway. I'll give it another try in the future since it's so close. read more
