Great place good food but the cooks are slow as hell. They were literally texting while cooking my food. I was the only one at the restaurant and my food took 50 mins before getting to me. Look, the food is good. Always has been, which is why my wife and I regularly visit the Barcelona restaurants. Food comes out fast...actually too fast if you ask me. You've barely had a sip of your first drink and there is food on the table. But people like that I suppose, and when you're in a rush, it's actually a great thing to be in and out in an hour. Why not 5 stars? One reason: the Bussers. This is one thing that drives me absolutely bonkers about some restaurants nowadays the have the fast casual concept, and especially Barcelona. STOP TRYING TO CLEAN UP MY DISHES EVERY TWO SECONDS!!! THREE separate times, a busser came by and attempted to take away a tapas dish that still had food in it and that I was still eating. I literally leaned back from the table for a split second to take a breather from woofing food down, and some busser was at the table trying to snatch the damn dish away. It's unacceptable and most importantly, incredibly frustrating and irritating. That is highly improper service. Teach these bussers that they dont ALWAYS have to have a dirty dish in their hand to get a pay check. Teach them to observe a table for SEVERAL minutes to determine if someone is done with something. How are their utensils positioned? Is there napkin in the dish? Have they not touched it for 5-10 minutes? etc. It's not rocket science to just be observant, not a mindless drone collecting any plate they can spot regardless of it's contents or lack there of. A couple dirty dishes on the table isn't the end of the world !!! I'm eating, leave me alone and come back when I'm done with everything. I know you want my table back asap on a weekend, but you might lose a customer for good who has been a frequent and loyal one for many years. Sort these kids out please. read more

Long story short: skip the new Barcelona if (I) your time is valuable (II) you are in a large group and (III) you value hosts and hostesses providing realistic feedback as to when your table will be ready. Had a 715 reservation on a Saturday night for 5. Restaurant was packed. Host couldn't find our reservation on list even though I pointed it out to him. Took our name down and said our table wasn't quite ready. Ten minutes later, another person on our party clarified that we had a reservation and he reiterated table wasn't yet ready. Restaurant was sensible enough to provide large group of waiting patrons with complementary tapas and sangria. The tapas was delicious and the sangria was disgusting. About 35 minutes later, we noticed they were setting a four top for 5. Thinking the table was for us, we inquired about 10 minutes later why the table was still vacant. Response was "we are trying to figure out the logistics" and "another table will be ready soon." At this point, we took our business across the street to Colony Grill. Had a great experience there at a fraction of the price. Barcelona, you were so much better when you were small. You're a victim of your own success. Great waiter. Great food. Great decor. Why I'm giving it a 3-Star? Well, because that place was severely understaffed that evening. There were only two waiters and, apparently, no busboys. Knowing it's not their fault, but the management should've let us know upfront of their staffing situation. We had to wait about 20 minutes for our drinks. Two empty tables next to us were in a need of being cleared of used plates and glasses. Our main courses came about 45 minutes later. Our poor overworked waiter was extremely pleasant to us the entire time, much to his credit. Please hire more people. Or let the people know there'll be slowness in the service. read more

I've been to the Greenwich location many times. The bartender always has a martini ready by the time I sit down. Love the food, but it is the decor that I'm writing about today. To preface this review, only a few weeks earlier at Barcelona New Haven, with reservations for a party of 18, we waited more than hour with practically no remorse from the management/staff what-so-ever. Was hoping they could redeem themselves on this next visit to no avail. We made reservation for NYE for 9:00pm at the Norwalk location. To start, they don't know how to manage their reservation book, even in this era of technology, and "lost" our first reservation for 9:00 and rudely (as if it was our fault) said they would "try" and fit us in at 9:30. When we showed up at 9:30, they said they would call us when the table was ready; 15 minutes later, we decided that we should go check on the reservation and said they would probably be able to fit us in at 10:30! Seems they don't know how to properly stagger their reservation book to fit the people in who actually have reservations. The customer service here is absolutely horrible. Most of our interactions in this debacle was with, Emily, the "assistant general manager". Her lack of respect towards customers is appalling and her professionalism is non-existent. I'm glad after that we were smart enough to find another restaurant for the evening. Needless to say, we won't be giving Barcelona any more of our buisness. read more

My favorite spot in Norwalk! I always get tapas to share and after many tapas, I can't complain. From bacon wrapped dates, to beef empanadas, to octopus; all the food is fresh and tastes amazing. The service is always great also. I've come here many times with family and friends and I am never disappointed with the service. The waiters care about what you like and are very delightful. My mouth is watering thinking about all the food I enjoy at Barcelona. I recommend this restaurant for anybody! read more

Dont ever go to this place. Extremely unprofessional. Been waiting for a table 45 min and once it was ready it was given away to some friend of the manager. They change personnel all the times, extremely unwelcoming and you never feel home, even when you got there at least once a week and spend good money. Unbelievable! Ridiculous! And honestly, the food is not even that good. Only reason I was going: nothing else in town. But finally, the spread opened next door. A much better place! read more

I had a party of three Saturday night, and I was not expecting the place to be PACKED! Luckily we were able to sit at the bar for awhile, while we waited for a table. We had to ask the hostess several times for an update but you can tell she was pretty overwhelmed. Even the people who had reservations were waiting. But I'd definitely go back on a less busy day, the food was amazing. The whiskey cocktails weren't really all that strong, just tasted like already mixed cocktail syrups but I did appreciate the fresh ginger that was in the cup. Beyond pleased and impressed by Barcelona Waypoint. We hosted my sister's baby shower there, and everything from the space to the service to the food was exceptional. I planned this event from across the country, and Helen, the event manager, was exceptionally thoughtful and helpful from afar. The day of she was present and hand on the whole time. Their entire staff was so kind and involved, it allowed me to actually enjoy the event! So we walk in and asked to wait 35 minutes for a table for two. There were 4 available tables when we walked in and the same 4 available when we were seated. I asked the hostess why we were asked to wait if these tables were available? Her answer: because the tables were reserved. They hold reservations for over 35 minutes???? Ridiculous! Unfortunately, this place doesn't have a large enough kitchen for summer evenings (when the patio is open). That's the long and short of it. I overheard the wait staff and manager mentioning this to people who complained this weekend about the delays of over an hour between ordering and food arrival. It is unfortunate because the food is good and it is a fun place to go with friends or to grab a pre-movie drink (there is a theater across the street). I personally felt bad for the staff because the kitchen is too slow to allow for (reasonably) fast table turnover, and because some patrons get upset with them for the delays. I like the food and scene, but just cannot recommend it given the current state of the kitchen, etc. read more

Loved everything about it, food, service, atmosphere. Went with 4 people on Mother's Day. We had 12 tapas between us, which was a good amount. This is definitely the way to go for people like me who love food and can't decide what to order! Portion sizes vary from a very generous lobster risotto or mussels diablo to a very small halibut la plancha. Soft shell crabs with bacon were outstanding, as was the mushrooms with herbed goat cheese and the chorizo with sweet and sour figs. Good sangria, too. Our servers (Jose and Kiko?) were super-friendly and helpful with suggestions and explanations. The churros were less than stellar, but overall we were very pleased. read more

Awful place. The food? Yeah, it is good, but the attitude there needs an adjustment. When the waiter spilled olive oil on the pants of one of the diners at the table, there was barely an apology. This is ONLY a review of the social scene at Barcelona as I have never had the food. The place is packed on weekend nights and generally very active. The good - it's a classier joint then the normal SoNo fare (Donovans, O'Neils, the dregs that is Black Bear). The bad - it's loaded with single 40 somethings who suck down $14 glasses of wine while they try to prey on the 20-somethings who stumble in there. read more

We were in town for the evening and stopped in at this place to have a bite with a friend. This place was great! The tapas were delicious. My favorites were the hanger steak and the tomato/basil salad. The desserts were also delicious - I had the Crepas Salguera. They also had a coconut chocolate chip ice cream which was great. Best of all, the staff was amazingly friendly and nice. They were super at attentive and almost every one of the staff members thanked us for coming on our way out. We like Barcelona. It's a good date spot and the outdoor seating makes this location a great improvement over the last South Norwalk location. The food quality and wine selection are both good. I can honestly say I've received amongst the best customer service experience here. Without being overbearing my servers were highly attentive and in tune with the needs of their tables. They didn't have sanitizers on the table just on the entrance. They didn't check our temperatures either. The place looks cool, open concept kitchen but honestly the sangria was so mediocre tasted like some cheap wine from trader joes and juice, watered down and the food was just meh-okay. Wish the marinara for the meatballs had some garnish on the top or something, the taste was ok. Could use some more herbs or a kick of spice and was not warm enough. The cheese plate was really good, it'd be nice if it came with crackers or bread. The octopus was not even warm, and the olive paste on top was a bit over powering. The server was really nice, but they definitely need more help because all of the tables were occupied. Towards the end, the server were just scrambling to get last minute order in and greeting the last wave of diners that they couldn't help us check out after trying to flag multiple down many times. The table next to us were sneezing, so sitting there longer didn't help at all. Won't be coming back. read more

I have been to the Barcelona in Stamford many times with my friends. We have always had a great time so we figured we would try the Norwalk location. Big mistake. My friend made a reservation for 8'o clock for the restaurant. When we arrived, we were told that it would be a few minutes. Ok. So we stood near the bar. Then we stood near the bar some more. After that, we decided to stand near the bar. Eventually, we asked about our table. The hostess told us that it would be 20 minutes. That was 90 minutes ago. We are currently eating pulled pork nachos and flatbreads at a different restaurant. Luckily, they just texted my friend letting us know our table is ready, about two hours after our original reservation. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

Great place for a large group. We were 9 people and accommodated so genuinely by the staff that I was floored. Kind, fun and energetic staff. Every plate was great. Not bad at all. It feels a bit (ok, very very slightly) like the first tapas place i went to when I arrived in Barcelona, except that it lacks the homey smell of fried pork fat. The tapas isn't exceptional, but on the whole pretty good, and I've received excellent wine recommendations when I've been here, so I'd recommend that anyone who doesn't have their heart set on a particular bottle ask the wait staff. And I'd absolutely recommend the spinach and chickpea casserole...I tried it at the suggestion of my date, and was pleasantly surprised. read more

This place is great. They have some seriously excellent dishes, like the short rib or the patatas bravas. Their hanger is amazing, some of the best available. But then you have dishes like their octopus and their calamari, which are average and sometimes less than. Their desserts are definitely nothing to write about either, crepes a little under cooked and the chocolate cake leaves something to be desired. They do have great hours (open very late for being in CT), and prices are fairly reasonable for the quality you are getting, especially for the steak and duck tapas. The duck was AMAZING. I've been here a few times before and had pretty good, nothing special dinners, good drinks, etc. But I reserved the restaurant last weekend for a small reception dinner after my wedding ceremony, and was thoroughly impressed. My family was literally baking in the heat so we had to come to the restaurant a half hour earlier than we were expected. The manager was so gracious and whipped the place into shape in no time for our 11 person party. Drinks were dispersed to the thirsty crowd and tapas came in at record time for not even having the kitchen set up yet. I do have to say though.... if you have a small group and get a tailored menu....it's a lot of food! Our party was stuffed before the main course even came. Also since I couldn't drink the waitress suggested a virgin blood orange margarita... and it was seriously the best thing i've ever drank. read more

This was a great place, great food and some of the best dessert we have tried anywhere...As for the price, I thought it was appropriate for the food and atmosphere. The service was good...The only downside was our Tapas were a bit too spread out, as we would have liked our asparagus (amazing-ordered a second 1) portebello mushroom (delicious) and hangar steak (perfect) closer together so we could create somewhat of a meal out of the 3, but that did not ruin a great experience. The staff are always fantastic. I have celiac and they make it extremely easy to order with my gluten allergy. My girlfriend and I have been to Barcelona several times. No matter the occasion, the team at the restaurant always does a great job. Just to give you an idea of how awesome the waitstaff is - they had a free dessert that had gluten and knowing I could not eat it, they brought me gluten free cake and ice cream. Service/customer service = fantastic. I highly suggest this place for a great deal and awesome food/drinks! read more
