I recently purchased an under-the-sink water filter and started the installation. After completing a portion of the installation I realized that I had reached the limit of my knowledge and capability to complete the job with confidence. At this point I decided to bring in a professional plumber to complete the job. Barcena Plumbing in Simi Valley had installed a new water heater for me 3 or 4 years ago and I was happy with the job and always try to support locally owed and operated businesses, so I called them. When I called a very pleasant lady gave me an appointment for the next day. About an hour later she called and told me that they had a spot open that afternoon if that would work for me. She gave me about a 2 hour window and said that she would call about 25-30 minutes before the technician arrived. Sure enough I got the call and about 20 minutes latter Ken showed up. After assessing the problem he set to work and did his job and took exceptional care to double check everything. The next day Ken checked in to make sure that everything was ok. I owned a service oriented business in Simi Valley for more than 20 years and I hope that my customers were as happy with our processional, ethical, and cheerful service as that of Barcena. The plumber that was dispatched to us was extremely unprofessional and did not do a good job. Our toilet was leaking from the bottom and he said it was just the wax that had to be replaced. He was here for a really long time then left abruptly. He didn't even give me a chance to check the toilet while he was here. I went to check as soon as he left to make sure it was fixed and it was not! He made the issue worse! As soon as I flushed it the water rose up and overflowed. I grabbed some towels and cleaned it up and called the company to let them know. He came back and immediately started questioning me and accusing me of lying. He said there was no evidence of water and I said that's because I cleaned up the water and mess you left behind. He then demanded to see the plunger that I used. I gave him the plunger and he broke it. He didn't have a plunger of his own so he asked me for another one. I said don't you have one and he said no, we have snakes not plungers. I called his manager and complained but sadly I doubt Teresa cared. She seemed unbothered about the whole thing. Now this guy has made a huge mess in my bathroom and all he had to say was well you have another bathroom you could use. PLEASE DON'T USE THESE PEOPLE, THEY'RE THE WORST!!! When a man slides on those super sexy red paper shoe covers over his work boots to keep my house clean, I'm a happy girl, what can I say? ;-) Really appreciated the way they kept the job clean while unclogging my kitchen sink. I needed a new water pressure regulator for my house. I called another company first, the guy on the phone was very nice but said he will provide me with a free estimate in a couple of days. Since I knew exactly what I needed and since it wasn't a huge deal to install, I felt like I could get an estimate over the phone. I called barcena and Teresa answered the phone, she was very nice and told me right away how much it would cost (pretty much cost the same as the general inspector told me it should cost). The next day I already had Steve the technician over. In one of the hottest days of the year, Steve was very professional and quick to solve the problem. It even looked like he enjoyed being there and helping me. it was over 100 degrees outside, I'm not sure how people can smile in that heat but I guess Steve can. I had water leaking from the kitchen ceiling last Sunday. I called their 24 hour number and spoke to someone within 5 minutes. Since it was a Sunday, Darryl couldn't do anything but helped me shut off the main water line. I called the next day and they sent someone within 2 hours. Steve and his assistant was very professional. Looked into the problem and fixed my leaking pipe within an hour. I called Barcena Plumbing when I got home and saw a leak coming from our ceiling from the second story into our kitchen. They told us to turn off the water and Steve was able to come in about an hour, found the leak and repaired the pipe. He was friendly, neat, and quick. Excellent service- The way it used to be when people took pride in there work. Steve arrived as scheduled with the tools needed to replace my main water valve. He adjusted the correct pressure setting that another plumber set incorrectly. I literally had one plumber and three handymen out to try and solve a problem with my faucet weight hitting my valves and couldn't pull out my sprayer. Spent hundreds of dollars. Daryl from Barcena came up with a very creative solution. Could be long term or temporary but in any case he did what no one else could do and it is working now. Also had him change a sink stopper and it looks better then the last person who changed it. Very pleasant as well. I was really looking for a new plumber as I think my last one was responsible for chipping my new Blanco sink.
