We also noticed a faint but persistent dog odor, and there were a few small bugs flying around our table, which was off-putting. Our main issue was with the drinks. Both were overwhelmingly sweet. My husband ordered an ice blended drink, and it was not only far too sweet but also had a very watery, melted consistency, lacking the thick, blended texture you'd expect. The place has such a cozy atmosphere, with cool decor everywhere, and they even sell jewelry. They also have a piano, and while I was there someone started playing, which made the whole place feel special. I finally stopped by Barclays Coffee and Tea and honestly... I'm mad at myself for not coming sooner. This place checks so many boxes for me: great food, incredible drinks, and live music. Now let's talk drinks, because Barclays absolutely killed it in this area. I had their white chocolate dulce latte after having it recommended to me from the employee. Saying it's perfect for those that like their lattes on the sweeter side. WOW wow wow. Easily one of the best lattes I've EVER had. That is saying a lot because lattes are my favorite sweet treat. I get them all the time and have tried more than I can count from different cafes. This one stood out immediately, perfectly smooth, rich without being heavy, and just the right level of sweetness but also being able to taste the espresso. Not overpowering, not artificial tasting just cozy, comforting, and expertly made. I will definitely be coming back for this alone. I also tried their raspberry mango Fresca refresher, and it was amazing. Super refreshing, light, and not too sweet at all, which I really appreciated. The fruit flavors were bright and clean, making it such a great option if you want something flavorful but not sugary. I was impressed across the board with both drinks. Seriously! Stopped here for coffee this weekend and this cafe had such an adorable little vibe. They had a good amount of seating and it's work friendly. I got the white chocolate dulce latte and it was okay, I'm usually into very sweet coffee but this was a bit overpowering. I also got the breakfast sandwich with eggs cheese and bacon. It was pretty yummy, it could have been a little like more toasted but I did enjoy it and it was a good size for sharing. It also came with a chipotle mayo and it was super delicious! Came back to give this place another chance, and the space itself was really nice and cozy with easy parking. I ordered the lavender vanilla latte and the horchata latte with an extra shot of espresso. The lavender vanilla latte was just okay for me and definitely on the sweeter side. The horchata latte, however, was very good. The flavors complemented each other well, even with the extra espresso shot. I've been here before to try their matcha, which sadly disappointed me since it didn't really have much matcha flavor. Because of that, I mainly wanted to give their coffee another shot. After years of being curious to come here I finally did and I am so glad I did! The barista who made our drinks welcomed us in the most warm manner and offered some suggestions. We have been coming here regularly and won't be anymore. My wife paid about $8 for a cold latte and they filled it up to the brim with ice so they could sell mostly ice and minimal latte. I asked them about it and they said that that's how the make it. They also recently took away the water station and charge for water. Other items on the menu are also overpriced. For example, they charge $15 for what's basically a peanut butter toast. Not worth it. Following the general trend of most places of high prices and less quality. read more

When I used to be a student at CSUN I went to Barclays almost every single day. This was my last semester at school so I've been all over the place and only been able to stop by a handful of times. Fred and Diego are the father and son duo that run the show. They're so incredibly sweet and hospitable. Fred especially so. He takes time to learn about you and your story which is a nice refresher from how fast time seems to go by. The biggest issue for Barclays throughout the year of me being a constant patron is their inconsistency. Sometimes it's the best coffee and sandwich I've ever had. And sometimes it's the biggest waste of money ever. And I think this inconsistency lies on their staff. Some staff members are sweet and kind. Others are timid and standoffish. Once I ordered my drink (iced), and I sat down waiting for it to be called out. Lo and behold 10 minutes pass and I finally go up to check if it's ready and two girls are legit just talking amongst themselves with my drink just sweating. I go to pick it up with all the ice melted and I ask for an extra cup of ice and they just stared at me like two lobotomized goldfish. Once I had my BLT and ham sandwich come out with no lettuce or tomato or side salad. Just meat. But it's fine, cause my $26 BLT and coffee went to support a small family owned business. Or at least that's what I tell myself when the overtly creepy guy who has literally confiscated the right lounge chair stares at me with his eleven charging tablets. Their customers are also off putting at times. Some just come and sit and don't buy anything. Although this is the store owners choice at the end of the day, they truly need to tighten the screws on who they let in. Which is a shame, cause Diego and Fred really do take time to serve their patrons. With seasonal drinks and decor. Nonetheless, Barclays is one of the best lattes I've ever had, their couches are so fucking comfortable and their vibe is such the cafe next door with ornate decor that supports other small business. But some their bitchy staff, inconsistency, and occasional scary customers make them loose one star for me. read more

This is an amazing place. The food is really good. The staff is really friendly. The location even in a strip mall is completely hidden by the atmosphere of the interior. The clientele is diverse in terms of every characteristic you could imagine. It's a really special place. I hope it's here for a very long time. They have great music and live acts as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. The only constructive comment I have is please please please please ditch the plastic cups for water and ditch the plastic cups for dressings and sides. Also try to serve more eat in or drink in items in ceramic rather than paper cups. I've seen other lesser coffee shops use paper cups for water and stainless for dressings and such. It would really mean a lot if you could ditch the plastic entirely. I appreciate that you use stainless steel flatware. Just a little ways to go to get rid of the plastic. read more

They definitely use real coffee beans, and you can taste the bold and bitter tastes, so make sure to add syrup if you don't like your coffee this strong. I went with my usual iced latte, and it was a bit bitter though manageable. The staff member who helped me was super bubbly, and I really enjoyed the awkward and inviting interaction. I have been here a few times but only during breakfast hours. They used to have a breakfast burrito that my boyfriend really liked with egg, bacon, potato. He asked that they please bring it back! On this day we ordered breakfast sandwiches. They both came with fruit cup, side salad and side of chipotle mayo. My bf likes spicy food and he really likes the chipotle mayo. Every time we have eaten here the fruit and salad always taste fresh. Sandwiches came out hot. They make them to order so depending on how busy they are there may be a wait, but that's to be expected. I think we waited about 15-20mins because it was a Saturday. Tables inside and a nice comfy couch with high back chairs as you walk in. There are a few tables out front that would be perfect once we get a little sun our way. I ordered an extra hot latte, 3 long shots of espresso, whole milk with brown sugar and cinnamon. Diego, the owner made it himself and brought it to my table.
