Ate there Tuesday for dinner. Had the pho. It was poorly executed. The broth should be a clear bone broth redolent of cinnamon and star anise. The sen lek noodles were properly cooked. Normally the noodles and broth are accompanied by thinly sliced white onions, and garnished with cilantro and scallions. The center piece of pho tai is thinly sliced ribeye... not... whatever that was. It was hacked up bits of some unidentified cut of beef. Lastly, on the side there should be: mint leaves, basil leaves, rau ram (sawtooth herb) leaves, sliced green chilies, and bean sprouts, hoisin sauce, and sriracha to mix for dipping to taste. I get when a chef offers a canonical dish like pho or bouillabaisse to show their skill and fidelity. I don't get why someone would do such a pale imitation. read more

On a road trip through Idaho, I stopped by this place for dinner. I ordered the smoked trout spread, chips and pico de gallo, pear salad with grilled chicken, and linguine picatta. The best dish was the chips and pico. The pico was nice and fresh and the chips were nicely seasoned with a lemony powder. I also enjoyed the pear spinach salad with chicken. The other two items were not as good. The trout spread was very heavy due to the large amounts of cream cheese. The linguine lacked seasoning and ended up being bland. read more

The outdoor seating would be fun for a smaller group. As well, I was impressed that our server was able to split our checks with no problem. Bardenay is one of my favorite restaurants to go to. They have a variety of options to choose from on their menu, as well as an amazing outdoor seating area. The patio looks out on a pond and is super close to the Greenbelt. I have always had top notch service every time I eat here. My new favorite item is the chipotle marinated chicken sandwich on their focaccia bread. It had so much flavor and was delicious. I also think they have the best sweet potato fries in the valley but that may be up for debate. read more

We sat on the patio, it was very beautiful situated between the river and a pond with a waterfall, it has nice ambience. There are also warmers, flowers and patio lights to enhance the overall experience. The food options seemed endless, there are an overwhelming amount of options including a surprising amount of fish. The food is extremely well priced and delicious. We got the fettuccine with added ahi tuna and the salmon pasta special. Both were incredibly tasty and in good portion and price as mentioned above. We were out of town spending time with family and we all met here. Ambiance was great, beautiful lake view, lush green grass and trees were gorgeous. The greeter was bubbly and very helpful for seating. Our waitress had a beautiful smile and was really friendly & helpful in guiding us on their menu. In my last visit, I ordered the trout entree which I've had a dozen times before but was disappointed this night with the lackluster presentation and the tablespoon of vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Without disturbing the plate, I asked the manager if the presentation and serving portions were appropriate to her. With the lack of concern and attention she had to the situation and the robotic responses I was receiving, I knew that I would likely not be returning in the future. We just had the best date night here. The wine was great, the food was awesome. And we really loved our server, Brandi, who we got to meet sitting at the bar area. Finally got the chance to try this place out. The last couple of times, we couldn't get seated due to Covid and the limited capacity rules. It was a lazy Sunday at 2 pm, with gorgeous weather so it wasn't packed but the outdoor patio looked busy. We sat the bar and it took a minute before we were greeted and eventually served but I thought that was because they were short-staffed. There was only one bartender on duty at the time. I ordered the salmon, it was tender and tasty. It must've been the sun-dried tomato butter! I would order it again and the portion was good enough to share. Overall I'd definitely recommend here for the reasonable prices, variety of seat options, genuinely friendly staff, availability (First come first serve, no reservations, which has its pros & cons) & appreciate the full bar. My Chinese green salad was delicious (they helped me avoid gluten by removing wonton strips, & I was ok with incidental exposure in soy sauce dressing). I have just a string gluten intolerance, but I'd be pretty confident bringing my celiac uncle here too, as staff seemed genuinely astute in allergy recommendations (plus menu is nicely marked to help prep us allergy peeps for ordering!) I wouldn't necessarily recommend their coffee drinks or cheese boards... but I definitely recommend their Strawberry Manhattan (treated myself on New Years!) Yes it is loud & crowded & so service was a bit slow... but they are well staffed & everyone so friendly, we had no problem requesting misc help as needed on the extra busy holiday night. Seating options (outdoors or in) also great (except for the typical water loving bugs that Idaho has). Food- fantastic as always. The servers need to know some key menu questions a little better but for being a really busy Friday night (and the current shortage of staff) they did their best. This was the second (and last) time I went to Bardenay's. The first time, I had the meatloaf sandwich. It was soggy, cold and tasteless. This time, I decided to give them another try and I took a date there. We both ordered the fish and chips and this is where the problem started. My date received three large pieces of fish, while I received three very small pieces of fish that were less than half of the size of hers. The discrepancy in the appearance of our two meals was glaring. I was not being petty when I brought the problem to our server's attention. He immediately copped an attitude with me. It was clear that he didn't care about my concerns about the meal. He magnanimously told me he'd make up for the very small fish portions by bringing me another piece of fish. Now, please look at the photo of what this guy brought me and he did it with a straight face. It was a burned fish nugget that was on a bed of wilted lettuce. As far as I am concerned, it was an insult. I refused to eat it and we left. A server's job is to do everything possible, within reason, to make sure the patron leaves satisfied with the food and service. My valid concern about my meal was disregarded and dismissed. They all deliver in their own way, the Bardenay way! The food is phenomenal. We are especially addicted to the way they prepare their brussels sprouts. Love, their cocktail, selections, and their annual drink select booklet/menue! We always try to eat at the bar and they're so personal and so friendly. Atmosphere: It was very loud and hard to hear the conversation at our table because of the acoustics in the room. Drinks: I ordered an "Old Fashion" and received a version that tasted like they used Robitussin cough syrup as a mixer. Worst one I've ever gotten anywhere. Others in our party ordered different drinks and commented about how they were not very good. Food: I ordered a steak (which was pricey). Basically low grade meat. Very tough with lots of gristle. The others in our party said the entrees they ordered were fine but not great. Conclusion: I really wanted to love the place, but we all left feeling unsatisfied for the price we paid for drinks and dinner.
