This is a great place to enjoy excellent food, also the ambience it's superb, I have been here many times, my reason for a two star review it's service... I I've noticed that if I'm with a group or at least one more person the service it's good, sometimes great, but if I'm by myself the service totally change, last two times l waited almost ten minutes to get someone to my table on a not too busy day, today was not different, it took 10 minutes to one server ( she wasn't even my server) to ask if I had been helped, the place is 1/3 empty, so I just left, probably they don't need a one person business, l hope management could pay more attention about this, because once it comes to food quality it is great. read more

So me and my wife have been going to Bardot since they had opened. The other night the management was horrible. I notified them of a hair on a plate at the bar and the women was dismissive she said quote ok well i didn't see it. Then while me and my wife were having dinner for our anniversary she noticed lip stick on the water glass. So I kindly told the manager and said nicely, like hey we love this place maybe you should check on who is washing the glasses FYI and then she replied well we have just been busy and we have had a lot of people here today! I couldn't believe her reply! I didn't even want a free meal or an apology or anything just for her to recognize the issue. I was so mad i did drop an F bomb which I admit was wrong but really!!! Then I calmed down then she stood about ten feet away staring at me and my wife the whole time we were so uncomfortable we didn't even finish our dinner. I have never Yelped before about a meal and I hope I never have to again ever. Unfortunately we will never go back to this place again or recommend anyone again. Beef satay sandwich with the homemade fries was tasty for lunch. Big enough portions to share with a friend. Outside seating was wonderful (especially on not hot days). Inside has a hip, trendy bar/small restaurant feel. The blueberry lemon drop was perfect with my lunch - a little bit of sweet! The drinks were so good, I could have splurged on a few more (only 2 for me)....thank goodness for Uber! The outdoor space can get loud during busy times, which made it a little more difficult for me to hear since the tables are very close together and b/c of my hearing loss. Thankfully, I met a friend for a late lunch so we just headed to another quieter place (for dessert of course) after our meal at Bardot was completed. Our waitress provided excellent service and was present when we needed her (drink refills, split our portions w/out us asking and checking in on our meal after it was delivered) and also gave us the time to enjoy lunch without rushing us! read more

Wonderful atmosphere, great service and delicious food. Try the blueberry lemon drop cocktail! The duck, pork chops, braised short ribs are amazing! I'm glad I gave them another chance. The first couple of times I went shortly after the original opening, it was complete disaster. I'm so glad they pulled it together! I too am still on the fence about this place. I'm think the selling point is the wonderful outdoor seating appeal. I wish they would change up the menu a little bit. How about a nice wedge salad? The food was edible and the service was good! I have ate here twice and will try it again sometime. It's definately worth trying because the menu might be more to your liking. read more

My husband and I were in this weekend and Stephanie was our server. She made wonderful recommendations and paired the perfect drinks with our food. My husband got the scallops and I had the lamb. The food was to die for and we loved the atmosphere with the live music and oversized booths! For dessert, she recommended the flourless chocolate cake and we couldn't believe it was so good!! I was here for brunch last Sunday with three others. We ordered a variety of meals and drinks and no one was disappointed, especially with the service provided by Jennifer. With only an hour before they stopped serving bottomless mimosas I decided to gamble on the offer and was never left with an empty glass. I want there , order the salmon rillettes onbaguette. I could barely taste the salmon in my rilettes and the sliced baguette that came with it were so hard you could barely bit into it.Looked like a middle east owned restauranr with a french name. read more

We were a big party of 10+ people and went here because we were celebrating someone's birthday and upon arrival Andrea our waitress, was terrible. We ordered bottomless mimosas and they were not good. (Not her fault, of course). Orange juice tasted like it had gone past it's prime but we ignored it, then our food took very long to get to us but still we understood... As we were drinking our mimosas we hear Andrea say "no chugging" as our friend was drinking out of a relatively small wine glass, completely rude and inappropriate. Then we ask if there were any selections besides orange juice and she proceeds to say "it costs $6 per person per upgrade" that was not what we asked. Finally, in the middle of eating, she drops off the checks and we say, "we didn't ask for the checks" and she responds saying "we give it as a courtesy because we have other parties waiting". I've gone to other brunches and NEVER received this sort of treatment. Needless to say we are NEVER going back! read more

This is the absolute worst restaurant the village has to offer. Came here on a date, asked our waiter for suggestions on appetizers. Our waiter recommended the tuna tartar as a starter. Immediately after the food was delivered a live roach crawled out from the tuna and proceeded to do laps around the plate. Horrified and shocked we immediately asked to speak manager. To our surprise never once did the manager take responsibility for the creepy crawly. He simply stated that the insect was a result of using organic micro greens and that if the lettuce is washed it will become soggy. Of note there were no micro greens present on the tuna tartar dish. The manager did not insist on trying to make things right. My date had to say, "take everything off our check we are done here". I will never go back to this establishment and I plan to continue sharing my experience in hopes it discourages future patrons. read more

Too bad! My husband and I wanted to love this place. We made reservations for their outside patio and yet watched as a another couple walked up with no reservations (I heard them confirm, they had no reservations.) and get seated right next to us and then watched as they were served BEFORE us. We were ignored by our server after she served our drinks. She just disappeared. That couple next to us were almost finished with their appetizer and breakfast orders by the time we were served. Finally, a different server served us our orders, but then just dumped our plates in front of us and then scurried off without asking if we needed anything...salt and pepper would have been nice. The manager made adjustments to our bill, which was appreciated, but we would have really just wanted to enjoy our day out, the nice weather and some common courtesy. I was upset after speaking to the waitress and manager. Who can thoughtfully enjoy a meal after an embarrassing and upsetting moment in public? The waitress even snickered under her breath, something about my husband, as she walked away! I highly doubt if we will return...there are so many more restaurants around the corner! I'm sure they will appreciate our business. read more

I ate at Bardot this past Saturday night for a friends birthday. We had a large party of around 20 people. We sat out on the patio which had a cool street view of the quaint surrounding area. It was also just in front of the bar, which was beautiful. The staff were attentive and our waitress was friendly. The drinks were a little bit slow coming out, but the food came out all at once and without a single hiccup, which is amazing considering the size of our party. I ordered the Chicken Burger Harvard Square and I must say it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Moist and flavorful and perfect. I also tasted the tuna tartar, the Late Last Night - one of their specialty cocktails, and the flourless chocolate cake. Everything was very very tasty. At the end of the night the waitress brought everyone their bill individually, which cut the chaos of paying one large group check. Greatly appreciated! It was one of the smoothest group dining experiences I've ever had, which really allowed us to to continue celebrating the moment, worry-free. read more

Unimpressed. I had a reservation for 4 on Friday evening at 6:00pm and while there was plenty of outside patio seating open (more than 2/3's), when we arrived I was told my seats were inside. We were sat in a booth that was like sitting in the back of a van with white padded walls, it was very claustrophobic to me and the room temperature was uncomfortably cold throughout the evening. Service was very slow, with very long gaps between seeing our waitress, so the evening was unnecessarily extended, even paying the bill was a long and drawn out process. As far as the food, I had the French onion soup and a spinach salad which I thought was good, my husband had pasta which he was satisfied with. My friends steak was undercooked which she sent back to be cooked some more, once we were finally able to flag someone down to get that taken care of; her husband had the seafood special which he thoroughly enjoyed and thus was the highlight of the evening at Bardot. While the food was better than the service or "experience" I doubt we will be back and if we did return, for sure I would never sit inside in one of those booths in the hall. Even when we left there were still seats open on the patio so I am not sure why they made us sit inside just to be froze out and ignored. Big thumbs down from me. read more

We tried to make reservationsa few days before, but told there were none until 2pm. We walked in at noon and were seated immediately as there were 4 empty tables.Had brunch on Saturday, 11-4-17, celebrating a birthday.The birthday guest chose the restaurant because she had eaten there before. There were 3 in our party. We all ordered breakfast items. The birthday guest was happy with her entree. I ordered the poached eggs oscar. The potatoes were luke warm, the English muffins were not toasted and were soggy. Did they forget to drain and pat the crabmeat? The "fresh" fruit was not fresh...it appeared to be leftover from the day before. The other guest had an omelette and the potatoes were missing. She did not realized that potatoes came with all the breakfast entrees. Didn't the server delivering the entrees know potatoes are served with the entrees and don't they check for presentation? When we did ask our server she said she would bring them out even though my friend was already done with her meal. She never apologized or took responsibility. I assumed what happened was that our food sat there as they cooked the third entree's pork chops. Our server was mediocre...only came back twice to see if we needed anything and had no conversation with us other than to take our orders. I would have sent my food back, but the guest was so delighted we could get seated at Bardot, that I did not want to ruin the festivities. I rarely write reviews, but I felt I should so that the manager could improve the quality of the food and the servers. I would not go back to Bardot, but their are many other restaurants to experience in the charming area in Claremont. read more

The service and atmosphere was lovely. The food quality was good and the menu was enticing. Unfortunately, the kitchen needs some help. Our food came out quickly, so I don't think It was "sitting" for long, but all of our meals were lukewarm or cold. Tomato bisque'-lukewarm. Petite filet-ordered medium rare...parts were medium rare, most were medium, had no flavor whatsoever, over cooked on the edges, had to smother it in the dipping sauces provided, which were average, at best. Husband ordered the ribeye...it was undercooked in some sections, again uneven cooking and no flavor. The sweet potatoes wete cold...like refrigerator cold. Very strange, which leads us to believe the sides are not freshly prepared but likely Sysco pre made...my mushrooms were flavorless and the asparagus was undercooked. So, I would give the food a 2 star rating and the atmosphere and service a 5. The chef definitely needs some training. At these prices the food should be fabulous and it's below average. read more

Good drinks, but customer service is lacking. I came to Bardot for my birthday dinner. My food was served to me, and upon its arrival, I immediately noticed a hair in it. The waiter had already walked away, so I waited for him to come back to our table. He seemed a little taken back when i brought the situation to his attention, but he politely said he would get it re-made. When the dish came out the second time, the back waiter delivered it. He was a bald man, and he joked and said he was sorry and that it must've been one of his hairs that fell out. We all laughed, but then came the underhand comment of "just kidding, it wasn't my hair, but it didn't look like anyone in our kitchen's either"! Really? Insinuating that a customer placed a hair in their own meal was totally rude and uncalled for. I asked to speak with the manager. The manager listened to my complaint, and although he said he understood, it felt as though he was unmoved by the situation and was in a rush. Now, I didn't expect for anything that I ordered to be comped (which it wasn't), however I did expect a higher level of concern or maybe a better attempt to rectify the situation somehow. I had a party of 10, so we spent our fair share for subpar service. Overall, this situation soured our experience here, and I wouldn't recommend! read more

Five of us were meeting for lunch. Family, four out of five seniors. We met early, 11:30, so that if there was a lunch rush, we would be ahead of it. We were seated immediately and that was the last "immediately" that we experienced. We waited for menus, waited for drinks and waited and waited and waited and waited for food. They weren't busy; it was a Wednesday, for heaven's sake, and it was early. The food was tasty, but absolutely nothing extraordinary. I probably enjoyed my crab cake sandwich the most; the pappardelle with chicken looked nice, but my sister in law said the chicken was very dry. The chicken sandwich my husband ordered looked dry; the fries were teeny tiny ends of potatoes. Maybe they had to cut them short to fit into the cool-looking cup they were served in? And my niece ordered a salad with salmon. I saw that salmon; it was so overcooked it was practically salmon jerky. The niece ordered tiramisu for dessert; it was Wednesday, at lunch time, but they were out of tiramisu. When do they make it? Can't guess, but Wednesday at lunch, they didn't have any. The bill wasn't outrageous; if the food had been wonderful it would have been great value. The food was just ok and the service was TERRIBLE. We waited for our food, waited for the desserts, waited for the bill. The restaurant was not busy; it was a puzzlement. We won't go back. read more

I value Yelp reviews, so I was looking forward to a good meal at Bardot. I was horribly disappointed. Last weekend our party of four went to dinner. We had made reservations in advance for the patio. We were told when we got there that they had some large parties come in and the patio was not available. We went indoors. We ordered a bottle of white wine. The wine was warm, we asked for a cold bottle and was told that they do not keep bottles in the cooler, only the bottles for people purchasing individual wine glasses. We had to ask for an ice bucket. Two of our meals came with cold mashed potatoes, not warm, but actually cold to the touch. The server apologized and said she would get us another dish. She came back and said that they were out of mashed potatoes, but she could bring us augraten potatoes. We were ok with that. 25 minutes later the manager and server brought the potatoes. We had asked to speak with the manager after 20 minutes. Oh, an important insert, another server had walked by our table with dinners which included mashed potatoes about 10 minutes after we were waiting for our potatoes. When the manager came to the table with the potatoes after 25 minutes, he was not apologetic but seemed put offed. We told him about the wine and poor service. He said that we were in the 1 percent who got poor service. He later came back and apologize. We were not charges for the wine or the two dinners. I am rating Bardot with one star because of the treatment I received on March 26, 2016. During the first week of March I made a reservation for Easter brunch by phone and was assured of a table because I was only the fourth party to request one for that day. When I stopped by Saturday afternoon before Easter to confirm, the hostess couldn't find any record of my name. The reservations list was a collection of three loose sheets of paper with names entered here and there and taped together to a ledger. When I protested, the hostess shrugged and made no attempt to find me a table or consult the manager. Fortunately, Union on Yale, which uses a computerized system for bookings, came to the rescue and we enjoyed a perfectly delightful brunch there the next day. From other reviews and from previous experiences, I have concluded that the management of Bardot employs undertrained staff to keep up the profit margin. read more
