Sad to say the service was awful. I've been eating at Bardot for years. This was my go-to restaurant for birthdays, anniversaries, and when people came from out-of-town. After the service we received last night (Sunday), I'm not so sure anymore. The food is excellent. My hat is off to the chef(s). However, good food without good service does not make for a great experience. I suggested this restaurant to my out-of-town guest, thinking it would be great as usual. I was so embarrassed when the waitress lacked the customer service skills normally found in a 5-star restaurant. My out-of-town guest is from Orange County and we have dined at many of their top restaurants. Our waitress seemed to be in a hurry and the restaurant on this cold Sunday evening was not crowded. There were plenty of empty tables. After taking our food order (in a hurry), we did not see the waitress again until we were halfway through our meal. She saw we were eating and asked "Does everything taste good?" Then before we could even say "yes" she was off like a bolt of lightening. She didn't even ask if we wanted something to drink (which my date did). We didn't see her again until she gave us the check, once the credit card was placed inside, she grabbed the bill and whisked it away before we could even say anything. We both walked out of the stunned at the lack of service and how we were treated. So sad, such great food. But we were left with the emotional feeling of neglect and unfortunately, that out ways the delicious food. My hope is that the management of Bardot's take more time and care when hiring their employees, and create better training programs. Yes, I know Claremont is a College town and the staff is young, but don't take that out on your customers. Groom them to become the best servers ever. God Bless. read more

Great Hidden Gems in Los Angeles! Great atmosphere! Great location! And so many memories.

My first time here and it was pretty cool. I was one of the few that was invited to an exclusive event through Spotify to meet Kirstin and she promoted her new EP that just released last Friday. We actually got to go upstairs to this very intimate lounge and bar area for the event. Unfortunately, the three tables in front of the small stage were already occupied by the time I got up the stairs, which was really fun so I almost tripped when going up. The bar was behind the stage area and I didn't want to even try getting a drink, even though it was an open bar for the event, for fear of losing my spot, but I am not a big drinker anyways. The name of the bar was projected on the farther wall of the venue and just aesthetically for some reason it reminded of of like Agrabah from Aladdin because of the lighting and and the look of it. When you look up, the roof is kind of opened due to the tiling allowing air and light to go through, but I'm pretty sure when it rains the tiles can be brought together to keep everything from getting wet. The sound was great and it was cool how intimate the event was. But when it got darker outside, of course it got dark inside too. read more

Small and intimate venue - Barely any room for standing, they had put some seating areas and maybe a foot or two between the sofas and the stage. The "stage" was a raised platform for the bands. I came for Monday night for what is dubbed "School night" and saw one of the coolest bands - Six60 from New Zealand. It's hard to describe their music, but really awesome stuff. Bardot is located upstairs of the Avalon. There are is one entrance in the front for the Avalon, and Bardot's entrance is on the side, right by the parking lot. I think this was what was known as the Spider Room a while back. Now it's a venue for shows or independent bands. If you come before 10, I believe there is no guestlist. The security just checks your ID, slaps on a wristband and sends you on your merry way upstairs. There is no cover, guestlist or not. Suggestion - possibly getting rid of the seating areas and it gives more standing room for people that want to see the bands. Weak drinks, expensive. Also, you can smoke in venue. Ugh, apparently since it's a makeshift patio area and there's "ventilation" it's ok to smoke. It gets uber smokey. Not cool. really not cool. FYI, it's hipster heaven there. AND omg, they had the heat lamps on? WHY? I understand its cold outside, but when you pack 100+ people PLUS bands and their equipment and booze, it gets HOT and hot, stuffy, smokey it gets. Parking close by is $5-15 depending which lot. However, there is plenty street parking that is free after 8pm - on Vine, Sunset, Gower, Hollywood. I don't mind walking a few blocks, especially after coming out of the hot and stuffy club. It kinda clears your mind. There's nothing special about the venue - just something special with some of the bands that come and play here. read more

I remember all the promoters eventually left 'Blues in Green' over at Green Door on Tuesdays and moved north above Sunset...to Bardot. Similar vibe/aura to Green Door, but with more pronounced red velvet decor, the dress code remained basically the same, and so did the crowd, initially. Again, it was nice seeing a familiar face at door (Joe) and we were quickly ushered upstairs to the club. Same concept with the open-air=smoking area, but there were side rooms to tuck away into as you could grab a seat and enjoy a drink/people watch. This was also where the musical acts set up to perform. Mark, one of the hosts from Green Door also transferred over here, and Jarod Carey was the manager at the time. There was also another Mark M. who was in charge, and he did everything he could to make sure your night was an enjoyable one. I never really got into Bardot as it seemed to become so much more crowded than Green Door once was, due primarily to the location with Avalon and such. Look like it's still holding up 5 years later, so that says something. Would I return? If I was out with a group in that area and that was one of our pit stops, I would be willing to give it another shot. read more

Very cool venue. I love the interior. Actually, the interior really isn't an interior, it's considered an outdoor venue because it doesn't have a full roof. This means smoking is allowed and I mean the smoke lingered to the point where I probably ended up smoking a pack without even lighting a cigarette. The roof is open but they somehow cover it up as much as possible but not enough to be considered an indoor event...therefore the smoke stays in! I haven't been in such a smokey environment in a long time. Picture old-school Vegas before they improved the ventilation! If you are sensitive to smoke, I suggest you not watch a show there. If the smoke doesn't bother you, it is definitely a great venue. I don't think I will be going back. I had to run home, take a shower and wash all my clothes - I reaked of cigarettes! read more

Woo, my 400th review! Seems fitting that a place I really like should have that honor. Came here with a couple of friends for It's a School Night this past Monday and had a great time. I think the last time I was at the Avalon it was still called The Palace, so you can get an idea of how long it's been. It's a School Night is a special performance/club night hosted by KCRW's Chris Douridas--it's free but you need to RSVP. It's a great deal; no cover and you get to hear see and hear acts that are cool but under the radar. Anyway, no lines, just told them my name and walked right in. The bouncers were very nice, btw. You go upstairs to get to Bardot, and I liked its swanky but lived-in vibe. The show takes place in their covered patio (hence all the smokers)--luckily they had some of the awnings retracted so a lot of the smoke could escape. It was also cool to be able to see the Capitol Records building through the opening in the ceiling. I guess the last time my friends were here they weren't as lucky, and got thoroughly smoked out. Very strange to be exposed to cigarette smoke in a club after all these years! Drinks were pricey but not unexpectedly so, and everyone that works there was so nice, from the bouncers to the bartenders to the waitresses to the bathroom attendants. It was a great, mellow vibe (not too many idiotic kids there, thank goodness) and I liked the bands we saw very much--Paper Cranes and Angela McCluskey. During Angela's set there was a surprise guest singing appearance by the actress Daryl Hannah. She was surprisingly good--who knew she sang? All in all, a very cool and fun evening, despite the fact that it was indeed, a school night. I'm paying the price the day after, but it was worth it! I'll definitely be coming back on more school nights... read more

I never knew this place existed until a couple weeks ago! A band that I was really into was playing a show at Bardot and I HAD to come check them out. As this is in the heart of Hollywood, the parking lots can be quite pricey. There's one that is south of the Redbury that charges on a scale, DON'T PARK THERE! It's like $5 for the first 30 minutes and then $10 for the rest of the night or something like that. I was lucky enough to snag a spot on the street. The entrance to Bardot is north of the Avalon. You go up a set of stairs around a corner and down some more stairs into the performance space. It's really cool inside, the decor is unique and the room is washed in red lights. There are a number of bars around, makes it really easy for you to grab a drink. Up front are a few couch/VIP seated areas. Most people stood around the stage watching the band perform. The acoustics and sound aren't bad. I really enjoyed the set at Bardot. Definitely looking to come back here and see some more up and coming acts. read more

I came to Bardot to check out Monday School Night! to support a friend who was playing. Th acoustics are pretty bad in there except if you're standing right in front of the small stage. Prepare that it will be crowded inside, and if you're 21+ be prepare to see 18+ kids. This place is right above the Avalon. The interior has a covered/opened ceiling for smokers, so don't wear anything that you don't mind taking to the cleaners afterwards. Not bad for free live music in Hollywood, beggers can't be choosers haha. There is a parking lot next door or good luck with Hollywood parking, make sure you read the signs! read more

Bardot is above the Avalon. The decor is wonderful very old Hollywood glamour. Itgave me some great ideas for the loft I am soon moving to this is the exactly what I want in the living room area.. I really want it throughout , but the boyfriend says only one area. We found a comfy corner to sit and have a cocktail and people watch. Cocktail choice the evening Absinthe mixed with champagne. In the early stages of planning our "law prom" here but it's been amazing nonetheless. Leslie has been so accommodating and helpful. Five people wanted to see the space and all five of us got it. When we wanted to taste the food for our tray pass options, Leslie quickly set up a tasting, let us pick 8 options and we got to choose 4. All the items were delicious and it was extremely difficult to choose only 4 - hats off to the chef. Our event is in late February but being able to plan this far ahead has been helpful to our stressful lives. The venue is also very accommodating with our budget. When we did the walk through we weren't able to see exactly how the space would look but we will have an opportunity to see it prior to the event. I also mentioned to Leslie another type of event that we put on and she was really excited about helping us with that too. I'm looking forward to seeing the turn out and how people respond to the venue. With the collaboration between my team and Bardot, this event will be the best my school has seen in years. Can't wait to start promoting it in January! Oh, definitely can't forget that there is parking right next to the venue and across the street. Parking next to the venue may be free (Bardot might compensate you) and $15 across the street. I'll update my review after the event! read more

Pretty much Avalon, but if you're facing the building, the entrance to Bardot is off to the right closest to the parking lot. Parking is expensive here. $20 in the lot right next to it. You're pretty much paying for convenience. My friends parked at a lot a couple blocks down for $10, but this lot right next to Bardot was convenient. Entry was easy. Check your ID and you make your way up a couple flights of stairs. There's two areas to this place. When you enter, there's one room. Another room if you keep going as well. The bar was shady. Early in the night, a round consisting of 3 drinks was $25. Towards the end of the night, the same amount of drinks and the same kind of drinks was like $50. What? This place price gauges in some way knowing people are inebriated towards the end of the night and will just swipe away and sign on the dotted line. Would I come here out of my way? Nope. My friend had a show here and we were out to support him. Otherwise, this place looks really rundown and the drinks are ridiculously expensive towards the end of the night. Actually not even towards the end of the night. It was before midnight. read more

all I can say is OH MY GAWD! I can on a tuesday for mr. blacks starwars night with one of my best girlfriends, I was not sure what to expect, but when we got there, we were greeted and let right in. The crowed was awesome and the music was amazing. It was a gay night, but that made the music better and the crowds were sexy. it was open bar 9 to 10, so my girlfriend and I drank like thirsty elephants. pls only one drink at a time, they almost took two of our drinks, but a innocent gay stepped in and claimed it was his for us. I LOVE GAY MEN! so sweet and kind. anyways, so we were on a good buzz drinking and dancing, when the table waiter offered us some drink tickets, telling us they were straight and wanted us to have an awesome time, so took them and HAD THE BEST TIME! his name was alex, very kind blonde. I can't wait to come back here, they played starwars and there were photographers, as well as a darth vader with fishnets,heels,garter, and a fricking top hat. it was one of the best times I have ever had. On Tuesday nights, the theme night is Mr. Black. The best thing about this place is open bar night from 930 to 1030pm and it is free. All you have to do is tip the bartender for pouring you that drink! This place is really interesting because there are all kinds of people here, including a waiter who clearly showing his assets. I think that is part of the themed night. I did like the lounge atmosphere of this place especially the DJ. I had to leave early but overall, I had a great time and didn't really spend much to enjoy the night. read more

I was here last night for an event, having a great time on the dance floor enjoying the show. All the sudden I felt numerous hits to my arm and turned around and a security guard was screaming at me "no smoking" ... in my hands was nothing but my phone. The guy next to me I wasn't even with was vaping and this overzealous pile of human garbage thought it was me and used physical violence to get my attention. After the show I ran into this guard again upstairs and said to him "ya know what I think you owe me an apology" and he grabbed my breast and pushed me back into a wall. I'm a fan of Bardot. I usually go here early for dinner and stay for the nightlife. The food is EXCELLENT. TINY but EXCELLENT. The ahi is good, the steak, etc... The people who congregate here on weekends are pretty damn hot. Kudos promoters. I like your taste in the eye candy. The decor in the eating area and dance floor is pretty cool- definitely feel like it's old school and a bit romantic. It's a small dance floor, good dj, a large smoking patio that used to be the back end of Avalon, and it all connects. Awesome. I love to roam. read more

I planned my sorority's spring formal here, and had the best experience with the staff. My co-social chair and I had an extremely bad experience at the venue where we had our previous formal, so we were being wary of where we would have this formal. However, working with Mel and Mark was phenomenal - they were both so professional and welcoming, and were super patient as we figured out last minute issues. The venue itself is so cute, and there was a lot of room for both dancing and just hanging out and talking. Overall, had an amazing experience, and would love to work with them again! TERRIBLE SERICE!!! PATRICK( the busboy) needs a huge attitude adjustment. Not to mention several of the security guards and the staff in general. Im standing with my girl, my drink on a table, this guy Patrick comes and bumps the table knocks over the drink. I just bought it so I nicely said "hey, no worries.. Can you get a new drink?" He mumbled something and ran off. I waited maybe 10 min. Went to the bar, the bartenders politely said they'd give me a new drink as long as I brought the guy that spilled it over. I found him drinking a soda, i said "hey man come with me the bartender said i can get a new drink as long as I showed them you." he was reluctant, and kinda weaslley about it. then i got the drink i wanted to resolve it and say: "hey man its no worries, just dont handle things like that, its really rude." but he walk away while i was talking to him. so i made sure he heard me , i said "Hey" and he kept walking. I caught up to him grabbed his arm, "and he said dont touch me". I said " I was talking to you, thats very rude, all i needed was acknowledgment." He ran off. I overheard his name from the bartender. I blew it off, I had my new drink. Then, he comes up to me with three security guards while i'm in front of the host of the event's table. They said "whats the situation?" I looked at Patrick and said " its all cool, but dont walk away when a customer has an issue." He said " dont ever touch me" I said "why are you smiling?" HE SAID" WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?" I thought in my mind: "ring your neck like a wet towel you slimy punk" but i turned to the security guard and began to tell him the abbreviated full story, this guy Patrick walks away again! I'm like where is he going, this coward! I shook the security guards hand because he heard my concerns I heard his and we came to an understanding. I easily could've shaken Patricks but he far to stubborn and pretentious to even talk to me. Anyways i finished my drink and left cause the place was a mess, felt so lame in there because of the crappy staff. Ive been to that venue so many times and had a blast. and they're excuse was " its a hard job, all the customers are mean." No shit , anyone with a backbone would call it as they see it: you spilt my drink, you ignored me, you insulted me, you demonized me as the aggressor, and you never even apologized! First time at this venue and was kind of surprise about it because I'm use to just go there after the nightclubs close and what can it be? 6 years ago since I visit that place and funny thing is first time I was sober and went there haha. However, fast to getting in and the service and bar wasn't bad. Only reason I went here was because it was my friends birthday and it was live band we checked it out. I love the interior of this place. It's a very sultry-bohemian-French-gypsy atmosphere, and with lots of places to sit and a hybrid of indoor and outdoor appeal, it's a truly unique place in LA. If you're sensitive to cigarette smoke, however, this may not be the place for you. Its "patio" is a semi-enclosed area that doesn't lift away much of the smoke. I came here for School Night last Monday. The crowd was wonderfully eclectic - a range of ages, styles, and weirdness levels. The talent they brought in was also wonderfully eclectic, and this is a great spot for an intimate show with people just milling around and enjoying live music in one room, and a DJ set in another. Arrive early to get yourself a place to sit and you won't regret it. Drinks are strong and a little on the pricey side -- $11 for a Captain & Diet. If you park in the lot next door (that advertises parking for all of the nearby places - Avalon, Dillon's, Lexington Social House, etc) tell them you are there to go to Bardot. You may be able to pay less than the posted amount (on the night I was there it was $30; there was no way in hell I was paying that). read more

Bardot is a trendy open air lounge located on Vine St. in the heart of Hollywood. I came here for a live record release party for one of my favorite artist. Bardot has a chic ambiance in an intimate setting. Warm lighting and many little side rooms filled with plush couches and chairs to lounge in while listening to the live music. The main stage is personal, as you are nearly face to face with the artist as they perform. I appreciated the free performance, but was not excited to pay $20 for the adjacent parking. Next time I will look at the alternative parking down the street for less. The drinks were good, and the price is what you would expect for being in the heart of Hollywood. I paid about $12 for a Red Bull and Vodka. The open air ceiling was very pretty, but it also means you are allowed to smoke. That didn't bother me; it seemed the smokers still hung out in their own section regardless. The attire for most seemed trendy casual, and the age was mid 20's with sprinkles of people ranging to their late 40's. It made for great for people watching and conversation with other creative minds. I look forward to going back another time. read more

2.5 The night before coming here, I remember driving north on Vine around 10:30pm and thinking to myself- why on earth are ALL those people lined up around the block? Is there some movie opening I'm unaware of? Some posh LA party I wasn't invited to? Did somebody die? Well folks, everybody was lined up to get into Bardot. And I learned very early in the game that it's pronounced BAR-DOUGH, not BAR- DOT (like tiny little circles). French or something? I guess I'm just not up on my LA nightlife... Woe is me. Fortunately my party partner and I surpassed the gregarious flocks of folks waiting to get their posh club fix for the weekend. Apparently the doorman is my friend's ex-coke dealer???? People still do coke? As we walked in, I felt like I was in some gorgeous old-LA mansion/movie theatre from the 20s. It's so beautiful inside. And I'm sure multiple wipe-outs can be seen down the many winding staircases inside. I would know, because it almost happened to me- TWICE. Damn my hooker heels and inebriation. The bathroom attendant, Maria is 'da homie.' We exchanged mini-stories of our lives in Spanish and she hooked me up with extra paper towels and free gum. What a dollface. The crowd is nothing short of wannabes trying to network. Evidently my boobs were too small, my hair too brunet, my attitude too blatant and my connections nonexistent- so naturally nobody was interested in talking to me. That's too bad. Here for on a Monday "School Night," to see The Pierces. Venue is pretty cool, dark, nice lighting, a couple of room, loungy, an intimate space. Some couches, with pillows, and arm chairs, with most of the people standing around to hear the band. Second band was ridiculously loud, so we had to jet about 10 minutes which was sort of weird since we had a prime space right in the front of the stage. Maybe they should get a tech person in there to help with the set up because the inconsistency can be a turn off. A friend who is a regular said the bands start right on time, so props for that. Space where the bands play is sort of tented, so they allow smoking. Street address is two digits away from the address for Avalon, I'm not sure that the listing should be together on the other business listing on here. A friend explained that one is downstairs, and the other is upstairs. I've also been to the Avalon, and the two spaces look and are completely different. As far as my experience, you can not get to one from the other. North of Hollywood Blvd, on the west side of the street. Plenty of parking lots in area, $10 when they advertise $5 (for 30 minutes). Best night of my life in a long time. Went the night before T-Day with a group. Besides all the fun and drinking, it was kicked up a notch by the girl fight. Usually I look down on that behavior but to be at a bar like Bardot and watch two girls fight was worth it. And one of them was french which made it even better. Yes, yes and yes!! This review is for the KCRW sponsored 'School Night' event that Bardot has been hosting every Monday night. I have always enjoyed Bardot as evidenced by my previous gushing novella length review, but they even step it up an additional notch on Monday nights. One of KCRW's DJs (I think it's Chris Douridas) gathers a line up each week and it's generally three bands. They set up in the outdoor area and the sound quality is surprisingly good. There are couches scattered in front of the stage and plenty of additional standing room if you don't grab a couch. The selection last night was very, very, very good. KCRW's music selection is so consistently good on the various DJ shows that it's a safe bet just to go see what's going on, even if you're not familiar with the line up. It makes for an interesting venue to see live music because I usually see bands either on my feet or perched on a bar stool with drinks ranging from a beer to a bad vodka tonic. Here, we were able to get a couch with a perfect view and we ordered a bottle of wine. Not very hardcore rock-n-roll by any means but super pleasant. Of course, you can also get bottle service. And I have to mention the staff again...really phenomenal. I had forgot that bands set up in the outdoor area and in this uncharacteristically cool summer, I was quite cold out there. The waitress fished around for some type of throw for me to use and came up with a gigantic tablecloth. It worked. I enjoyed the entire show wrapped in a tablecloth and drinking wine. They really always go the extra mile and it's appreciated. read more

Door Policy - To the folks moaning and groaning about what douche bags the guys at the door are: I totally understand where you're coming from. I absolutely hate it, especially so because I have to make sure my entourage consists solely of "hot" chicks. I guess I'm not allowed to have cute, normal, or mediocre looking friends. That or I have to know someone or be someone (and by be someone I mean, you need to be some hotshot celeb...they could care less if I was royalty of some sort). I really wish chicks, like dudes, could just go to bars hans solo. You have to remember that this is the obnoxiousness that we have deal with in Tinseltown. Honestly, if I was Prince or Mick Jagger, I wouldn't want to go to a place with a loosey goosey door policy. I really hate saying this, but you get to a point where you either accept the superficial bs or say eff it and don't waste your time going to places like Bardot. Decor/People/Drinks - Now all that aside, I really really really like Bardot. In a lot of ways it reminds me of the "old" Green Door. In part, that might be because it's the same group of promoters. If you like the artsy fartsy rocker/hipster crowd then this IS the place to be. If you're looking for a Winston's/Crown Bar/S Bar crowd, this is NOT the place to be (although on Thursday nights it seems to be a not so good amalgam of the two crowds). The decor is gorgeous. Potency of the drinks, not so gorgeous. I have yet to try the food. I've heard it's prettay prettay prettay good. Maybe I'll try it this week. It's definitely worth checking out at least once. A classy lounge for the artistic elites, and for those who are pretty open to their music choices. The decor of this places is pretty kitsch, I adored a lot of their wall fixtures and curtains. It's an interesting set up they have going on here because once you get to the main lounge, you can see that the 'stage' is actually outdoors and conveniently set up right next to the bar. If they had a live performance, it wouldn't be so hard to get your poison of choice for the night then jump back in with the crowd. I guess I'd call it a nice intimate setting, but not claustrophobic inducing. Despite the people I was with that evening, there was no pretentiousness coming from anyone that I met here. Came here for the LoHiFi but I hear their Mr. Black event is pretty entertaining as well. Guess I'll have to drag my boyfriend over to this place and he better pretend like he enjoys being here with me. Just a warning: this place is NOT drunk people friendly, and what I mean by this is that there are way too many stairs & dark hallways for drunks to navigate through. My *friend* was sober, and even she somehow missed a step. Also, they serve food here, so if you don't want to party on an empty stomach, then order away because they have some delicious finger foods (price range $8-$15). I recommend trying the spicy tuna tartar! Parking is going to suck, but if you don't want to hunt the streets of Hollywood for one, there's a lot located right next to Bardot.. for $20. read more

I recently had my birthday party there on a fri night with about 100+ guests. The club was very accommodating! The ambiance was perfect, the place was gorgeous, and everyone had a great time!! Highly recommended! Very fun and chill place for a Friday night! Delicious Drinks, skillful bartenders, Great DJ! Just don't wear flat, open toed sandals, a lot of my friends actually got turned away at the door because the club did not allow that type of footwear for safety reasons. I went here tonight on a Monday night for "it's a school night" shows last September 2012 There was no line and no cover since we were on the guest list already? or I don't think they even checked..and we arrived around 10:30pm? =) VENUE ITSELF You twist and turn a lot going in, outdoor patio area with drapery above and a nice view, stairs, lots of interesting rooms, a bar in the back - on the right and on the left, in the middle is an area with the bands, couches right in front of the bands. Pretty spacious Interesting red theme lighting, european/vintage style decor. Intimate space, we were close up watching the band, lots of bands were performing. VENUE/AMBIENCE/CROWD Mixed crowd - you don't have to be super dressed up More of a trendy, interesting fashion, hipster style music crowd and nicer place? I came here for an Indian Bollywood party. Everything about this place was great. They have spacious bathrooms, a couple of bars, not too crowded, cute interiors. Everything except the most important thing, the music. I've been to a handful of Indian Bollywood parties at different nightclubs before and this DJ just plain sucked. I'm not Indian myself, so I was solely basing it on danceability of the music. After all, you go to a nightclub to dance, right? It was not nightclub music! A couple of my friends are Indian and they were complaining more than me. They absolutely hated the DJ. I'd like to come back on another night, hopefully the music will be better. read more

So there is a ton of hate on this place. But I love it. Every Saturday night Andres Rigal puts on a free show with some incredible bands. The sound system here is beyond incredible, and I go to a ton of shows. The setting is nice and you can smoke in the same area the bands play. The bands come on late often after midnight which makes it a perfect place to hit up after an early show. Understand this IS a nice club in Hollywood. You can't try to walk in in flip flops and a white t shirt. The drinks will also be expensive and there will be no place to sit unless you get bottle service. Also the door guy is just like all door people, he is not a dick, he is just keeping people that shouldn't be there out. read more

I am not really a big fan of the hollywood nightlife. Honestly I find the crowds to be really scary (a la fake boobs and collagen lips). I like chiller atmospheres and Bardot is definitely of my favorite new spots. I've been on Tuesdays and Fridays...both really fun nights! they have a live band playing on tuesdays. the last tuesday I was here, I freakin touched PRINCE. Yes I have been blessed by the legendary prince. AHH!!! although the crowd is a bit scenester (which I am definitely not), everyone is really cool leaving you and your pals up to your own devices. at least here creepy old men won't follow you around acting like stalkers!!! don't come here expecting hip hop music. don't try to take pictures here either. security guards will come running from all corners to confiscate your camera! the door guy is super nice and my roommate and I love him to death. read more

Didn't really experience it fully, since I understand some nights they close half of Bardot and it becomes The Avalon, and tonight was one of those nights. Not sure if it's every Saturday night, but I sort of felt I need to return and experience it fully. I would've done Avalon, but the line outside was just ridiculous and it was past midnight already, so I was NOT gonna bother. The guy at the door was not very bright, therefore I didn't love my first interaction with the staff; but Jenny at the bar really is just a friendly, smiley person who will make you a great martini, even if you want something they don't have on their menu. The guy behind the bar with her was also very friendly. Music: lots of Hip-Hop, but the DJ would blend with some Lounge (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7E9Ed9DUQoQ&feature=fvst) Parking: There's a parking lot right next to the building that charges $20. Yet, if it's late and you're willing to park towards the back, they'll charge you $15. BUT right behind this lot, on the street right behind, there's another lot that charges $10 until 3AM. A bit of a walk in heels -- my feet are not happy right now -- but we were 2 cars and figured it was better. I will return at some point and review my review. Whoa... I came here with a friend for a birthday party on a Wednesday night recently. Thank god we both didn't have to be in till late the following day. Parking obviously sucks even mid week or you can pay a little extra and park in the parking lot near the venue.. This place is above the Avalon so I was a little confused. No real signage, We just began to walk up many stairs that lead to a room where they had a band playing and then another flight of stairs led us to the main lounge area. I could best describe the lounge as having never ending comfy sofas, dim perfect for just a relaxed night with friends. The lounge area is designed is a flash back of the art deco era meets modernism. Not sure who the DJ was playing but he did however get our asses up and what was intended as our plan to leave at midnight turned into an after 1am night for us. Everything from Pulp, Blur, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Bowie, T. Rex, The Jam to northern soul.. It was an eclectic mixture with a mixed crowd.. Loved it here.. read more

'Wait a minute....wasn't this Spider Club'?, I ask the doorman. Sure enough, it was. Hasn't changed too much since I was last there about four years ago for a private event and here I am back again for another one. Club hasn't really changed much. Walls are still painted the same. I don't recall two bars in the place but it makes sense. Bartenders are really knowledgeable and chatty. Was glad to talk to them and i don't say that about bartenders too often. Food itself is OK. Lots of small bites but nothing too memorable. So why am I giving it five stars? One reason. Beer. I go to the bartender upon entering and ask what beer they had. Figured they had no taps and it would be just bottles. Figured it would be the usual lineup of Stella, Newcastle, Corona, etc. and it was for awhile until they got to Turbodog. That's right. Turbodog. As in Abita Turbodog. One of my favorite beers. Ever. And they had it? In an uber fancy Hollywood bar? Turns out I bumped into one of the managers and he told me that his girlfriend is from New Orleans and turned him onto the stuff. Dumped Newcastle and brought it Turbodog. Awesome. That just tells me this bar/club is a little more special than the rest of the overly made up clubs on the Boulevard and Cahuenga Corridor. No, I don't frequent clubs in LA very often but at least now I know if I'm heading to this one, I know what to order. Now get some local brews next! read more
