Ok to start this was Memorial Day weekend... came here for lunch on Sunday.... I was imagining it being rather busy but I said hey the food is pretty damn good and out of my normal foodie routine. I happen to be looking for something different. Walked in around 640pm, was seated right away which was def a delight for dinner time on Austin street. The waitstaff was so friendly and they def made you feel right at home. Our waitress had us laughing and smiling right away. The food took a little longer than expected to cook but that was fine. For one the beer selection was good to sip on before served and for two the food came out smelling and tasting super fresh which was def worth the wait. Everything just truly tasted just made and I guess because the servers were so friendly and nice it was a very enjoyable easy dinner. Unfort there was diff plans for dessert but I do recommend getting something from here because I have dove in to their desserts before and they are also pretty damn good. The menu and service has fallen off a cliff since Covid. I was there last week. My burger was just barely (no pun intended) an acceptable temperature. The Fries and Onion Rings were cold. Very small portions for both the fries and rings. Wait staff appeared to be not well trained and definitely not observant. Didn't check on order after it arrived and I had to practically tackle the waiter to get ice for the ice tea and more dipping sauce. Very difficult to get their attention and the place was more than half empty. The ice tea arrived warm (about the only item that did). Desert menu was non existent. Staff kept apologizing saying the menu was being revised. The bill came to close right under $100.00 for three people, no alcohol and only two sides. I did leave a 20 percent tip, but to be honest the food and service wasn't worth it. The quality of the food was the worst culprit. I was a regular before Covid. I love burgers and fries. Nothing beats a great beef patty cooked medium rare with a slice of pepper jack and some L and T with some super crispy fries and a Coca Cola. Bare Burger has some pretty exotic meat patties here and ironically, their beef patty is my favorite. The fries come with a variety of sauces that are unique and tasty. I do feel these fries could be crispier but I've supplied this feedback on several occasions and don't feel BB is listening. I do still take every opportunity to order the combo fries and onion rings whenever I can convince those in my party to do so. Their onion rings are breaded and fried with real onions, definitely not the frozen onion mush you get from other joints. These onion rings are homemade for sure. I've had bison, ostrich, and the fried chicken burgers as well, all tasty and good options to the beef. Finally the milkshakes are thick and creamy, definitely contributes to the artery clogging theme here. The vibe from the employees here is a bit pompous (I've had issues in the past with their billing) which kinda takes away from the food a bit and ultimately with the SS that opened across the street, caused me not to frequent BB as much. I took my little sister here today for a lunch date. We started off with the buffalo wings, which were absolutely divine. They had a smoky taste to it but it did not overpower the flavor of the buffalo sauce. We ordered fries oand did the build your own burger. The beef was tender and fresh, and the service was good. I fail to understand why Shake Shack is so popular when this place exists. Moreover, I can't believe I never heard of this place until last week. Bareburger has so many more options than Shake Shack. I got the medium well Fire Quacker (abt $11) today which is described as "duck, pepper jack, pickled jalapeños, red onions, baby spinach, tomatoes, habanero mayo, brioche bun. It was so juicy, cheesy, spicy, & tender and just amazing! I was really skeptical since bird meat is usually dry but damn, this was so good. The El Matador which is described as "beef, queso fresco, guacamole, pickled jalapeños, green leaf, spicy pico de gallo, brioche bun" is equally as good. Found my favorite new burger spot! The service was good too. Can't wait to go back! I really wanna try every burger on the menu. The Blazin Cattle which comes with "beef, pepper jack, fried pickles, spicy fermented slaw, pickled jalapeños, green leaf, sriracha mayo, brioche bun" is just so damn good! It's so juicy, & I love the slightly sour taste due to the fermented slaw. The Fried pickles sealed the deal for me. I love how every burger i've gotten so far comes with jalapeños, the best burgers are at least slightly spicy. The Sweet Potato fries were good. So while I'm a true red meat eater, this May I've been meatless. Don't ask how I got myself into this situation, but I'm here. So of course since I can't have meat I'm craving just that. We used to come to Bareburger Forest Hills all the time when our kids were little, and we liked it a lot. One of our kids was home from college recently and wanted to go back. Man has this place gone downhill. Service was sluggish, disinterested and rude. Took forever to get the waiters attention, and to place our order. He didn't seem to be paying much attention while taking our order, so of course a couple of things that came out were wrong. Since our waiter never came to check on us, we had to take the food back to the kitchen ourselves to ask that the order be corrected. Final insult was when the bill came and we were charged for four beers instead of the two we had actually consumed. My hunny wanted to grab a bite and libations before seeing John Wick 2. We were seated almost immediately once he arrived. Much has changed with Bareburger such as the menu, the atmosphere with the addition of spirits and wine on the menu. This is a great addition because you can't go wrong with good food paired with a good drink. I also like how roomy and spaced out everything is. The furniture is your standard wood which I thought would be uncomfortable, but too my surprise it actually was comfortable. The seats are nice and wide so if you have a wide load or packing a serious bumpa you are in luck. The menus were a bit much for me. I thought I was looking at a kiddie menu with all of the colors and drawings. I was waiting on my crayons so I could doodle, "Brie Wuz Here". Sadly, they never came. I missed my opportunity to tag up the place. We started off with The Manhattan and Islander's Tea as our drinks. Both were good. Slight buzz, but not much to rely on. You'd have to order at least three rounds to feel tipsy. For our meal, he had the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich and I had the Pickle Fried Chicken Sandwich. Both were super delicious. The buns were perfectly toasted, the chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We shared a basket of the Rings and Sweet Fries Combo. I'm not a fan of their sweet potato fries. They were cut way too thick and did not seem throughly cooked. Next time we'll go with a basket of rings instead. They were out of this world. They're huge to you get about 6 in an order but they're so crunchy and so worth the swap. Had these with garlic aioli. So bomb! Chicken wings! A chicken wing whore !!!! Got them with possibly the mamba sauce. Not sure if that's the correct name or not but it's like a tangy and spicy bbq sauce. Side salad with rosemary dressing also on point - salad for balancing of the bad eats ;) ON THE ROCKS for happy hour. Do NOT under estimate this small drink because it holds powerrrrr.
