Chef Dimitri should be considered the new expert in making smashburgers. I ordered the bacon-bacon smashburger with bacon jalapeño cheese fries, a side of homemade ranch dressing and a homemade limeade refresher. The burger was huge and expertly crafted with delicious toppings. Fries were crunchy and cheesy with plenty of bacon and jalapeño pieces. I used the ranch to dip my fries, which resulted in perfection. You can order online or in person. The business is located inside a "Krowd Kitchen." Enter through the orange doors and follow the signs down the hall to Bark & Char SMASHburger. Covered picnic tables are available in the parking lot to eat on site.

Due to that, the review will focus on the food and not the service or ambiance of the restaurant. Right out of the gate, I can say the patties were missing the crust that you'd typically get with a smash burger, so you can expect it to feel more like a traditional burger rather than a smash burger, however, I am comparing these to the smash burger competitors in the nearby area which all seem to have perfected the patty-crust in some capacity. Don't get me wrong, in general both burgers were tasty but I personally would go with this place only if I am feeling like having a more traditional burger rather than a smash burger since there were some missing factors that id expect to see in a smash burger. Regarding the BACON-BACON SMASHburger, there was a generous amount of bacon which I was a huge fan of, I love some bacon in my burgers. The brioche buns were fresh and held everything very nicely. The Bacon jam, on the other hand, was a bit too sweet for my taste but I can see how if someone has a taste for it they'd love it and it would probably instantly become their favorite burger, especially because they didn't cheap out on that either. Additionally, this one was a tiny bit more greasy than id like it to be and the generosity of the sauces and spreads overpowered the meat a bit. Overall pretty good, but if it wasn't called a smash burger id never think it was one. B&C SMASHburger, only because of its simplicity, felt more like a SMASHburger. I am more likely go with this one in the future and probably make it a combo meal. Additionally, the pickles really balanced out the flavors nicely with this one but still didn't taste the meat as much as id like to. Overall, good burgers, I can see myself ordering from here again but if I'm craving a smashburger id probably go with one of the other options in the area.

We were looking for a place to eat after a long day at universal studios. Bark and Char caught our eye with the rave reviews. Interestingly enough it's kitchen and not a sit down restaurant. The owner was beyond kind and helpful. After one bite of the burger we were in heaven. If you are looking for a fresh burger with a classic taste this is the place. I hope to visit this place again soon :)

This place is permanently closed. We came here wanting a burger and a very nice gentlemen from BODEGA DELIGHTS told us that BARK AND CHAR has been closed since last January. They never updated their website so it shows still open. Luckily for us we ordered from Bodega Delights. read more

Bad Uber Eats experience, but it didn't affect the really delicious burgers at all! To be clear, the driver was a mess. B&C got two build-your-own burgers done to order. They looked great (I dove right in, so no photos, but trust me!), and tasted even better! Excellent choice for burgers, will definitely return for an in-store visit! read more

Amazing food. Easily one of, if not the best burgers I've ever had. Guy was so chill and nice. However I didn't realize this was not a sit down spot and it's a little hard to find. I stopped in here while visiting so I was unfamiliar. But I would eat this while standing on a sidewalk, it's so good. read more

Although the first impression threw me off and the experience was bad at the start but, I gave the guy a break. He's a one man do it all. Grilling, frying, assembling the burgers. I gave him a break. I'm in the industry as well, I know how difficult it is in the beginning. His return for my extended wait time was to offer me some free drinks on the house. I respectfully declined the offer. I spoke to him and told him I understand and the gesture to offer me was enough. He even sent his dad to smart and finals to pick up some burger wrap papers. You know this is family run. Now food: I forgot what I ordered, but I got 4 burgers and 4 fries for my staff. Burgers were juicy, fries were flavorful and crispy. He knows what he's doing as far as the beef to fat ratio. Beware this place is pick up only. They do have some nice picnic style benches located outside that you can sit at and enjoy your food if you don't want to wait till you make it to your destination. There are a few businesses located in the building, just follow the signs. Dee, the owner, was super dope and accommodating. We ordered a BYO Smash Burger and the Backyard SMASHburger. He got our order together quickly. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, although I waited till we got home to eat. Even then, everything was still hot and fresh. I loved the fries they were crispy and potatoy. So sad during our visit he was out of his Refresher Drink, not to worry tho, I'm sure I'll be luckier on my next visit. Had the B&C smashburger, seasoned fries and coke. Delicious! Beats the hell out of fast food. Burger had great flavor, and I liked that the edges were just a little bit more well done and gave nice texture. The cheese onions sauce held the bun together well and didn't turn into a mess. Fries also had great flavor, and crispy/chewy balance. Just one guy running the place, in a building with a couple food kitchens. I like supporting a local business. I totally get there's only so much 2 hands can do, but I might suggest adding a bell for pick up orders. I'll be back! read more

These smash burgs are For Real. Gave this spot a try after seeing the great reviews and that it was nearby. The Wagyu beef patties for the smash burgers seemed very appetizing and the other key component was seeing that the fries are made with beef tallow. The whole experience was quick and easy. When I went to pick it up, the owner Dimitri was super kind and gave me a bit of a backstory of this place and how it has evolved. Since it was my first time, I kept my order simple with a plain smash burger and regular fries. Once I got home, this food did not last long. So much flavor and made to perfection. I was very impressed and I will definitely be coming back for more and trying more options. read more

TOP SMASHBURGER SPOT IN THE VALLEY. Absolutely 10/10! My boyfriend and I were looking for late night eats and stumbled upon Bark & Char. It's in a building that has other food establishments and surrounded by a gate. We parked out front and for curbside pickup the owner personally came out and brought it to us. As we got home we started to dig in and... AMAZING FLAVOR. Crispy delicious edges of meat, smashed perfectly! I got the BYO and added smash sauce, grilled onions, and an egg. You get the sweetness from the onions, creaminess from the eggs, the perfectly seasoned beef smash patties, and the tang from the smash sauce. Best combination. My boyfriend got the Backyard Smash Burger with grilled onions. He said it was so flavorful, he couldn't take a bite out without closing his eyes. He said 11/10 and I couldn't agree more. The owner is so nice and he's a pitmaster! Definitely coming back at least once a week (probably more)!! read more

This was one of the tastiest burgers I've ever had! My lady and I pulled up to their spot to order dinner, and the proprietor was a lovely man who had a great vibe and crafted our amazing meal on the spot. My partner had the western burger and I had the backyard classic burger. The wagyu beef was so flavorful, and both charred and soft at the same time, which made every bite as incredible as the last. The toppings were all fresh, and the yummy bun was perfect for holding all those ingredients together. I'm from out of town, but if I lived there I'd be back again and again (and again). Amazing burger! I just had this for the first time, and I promise it won't be my last. Got the Bacon Bacon Smashburger with the bacon Jam and added jalapenos. Hot damn. As if that wasn't enough, I had to try the Talo cooked french fries. Dear Lord, they were awesome. Then got some smash sauce to dip, next level. Don't miss out on this one. Heard about this place thru a friend and gave it a shot. We ordered the western and my sister got the bacon bacon burger. 1st off the seasoned FF we're absolutely delicious, they have a crispy exterior and mashed potato inside. The dude told me he cooks them in tallow so it was nice to hear no seed oils were used. I could not get over how juicy the burger was. I asked if they had spicy bbq and he did (bomb) as well as smash sauce and jalapeño ranch. The guy was super nice, told us he'd been running 2 weeks. Def give a shot. One of the best smash burgers spots I've had!! Fries weren't like your regular fries, they were seasoned very well and tasted great. Burger was very very good. They have a lot of options and a lot of burger styles. Everything was nice and labeled. Great customer service. The pineapple Fresca was also very refreshing!! Bark & Char is a ghost kitchen. When I first came to the address, I was confused cause Satsuma Ave. looked sketch haha . But I must admit, these were some of the best burgers I've had. Bark & Char - it's the only name to know if you want an amazing burger. Prepared fresh and right on time. I had the B&C Smashburger, but there's many to choose from. Very tasty! Order the Smashburger with Bacon Jam. Not able to eat for 30 minutes. That burger is so delicious. Ordered one for my kids and he said it was one of the best burgers he's ever had. Dimitri They should go out soon to get another trip. read more

The food was so good. Nothing like anything else in the us. It tastes so good. And the tallow fries were also very good. but for me what breaks or makes a burger is the sauce and man was the sauce good. I definitely recommen. read more
