Stopped on our way to a show at Ridgefield playhouse. It was a little out of the way especially with some winter weather in the area, but well worth the detour. Building didn't look like much from the outside but inside ambiance was great. Sat in the dining room across from fireplace. Service was excellent and fast considering we were already late for our reservation on account of the weather. Everything was excellent, apps, fish, pasta and dessert. Food price / quality rating 8. The Chicken Scarpariello was excellent. Service was alright. I'd give a higher rating if the prices were a little more reasonable, or if a small salad (or similar) were included with an entree. It appears that all entrees are a la carte. Freshly baked bread is included however,l, which is very nice. The dessert menu is pretty standard, no real surprises. We checked out the restaurant menu before we went to meet friends for dinner. The menu was different on the website than the one in the restaurant. The other really annoying thing is that the online menu (their own website)) was very difficult to read, especially for seniors whose eye sight needs a better color contrast to read it. We chose to split the Caesar salad to start. The waiter asked if we wanted anchovies and we said no. I have never seen so many anchovies on a salad. We each had 5! For my entree, I had the special sole oreganata which was excellent. My husband had the salmon special which was also excellent. The portions were a nice size. We opted to have coffee without having desserts. The cappuccino was wonderful. It is worth another trip. read more

Finally got to this local place that's been been operating and on my radar for awhile. This address seems like a good one but there been along history of transient restaurant here for decades. My first visit gives me hope it will succeed here and thrive for a long while. Love the bar vibe and our meal depicted in the pictures was very good. Bored with restaurants close to home so we ventured a bit far and decided to try Barn Door. I ignored the not so good review and gave it a shot. Glad I did. I like the rustic feel when I entered the restaurant...it's pretty . The fireplace is romantic so perfect for date as well. Place is spotless clean and that includes the restroom. Mind you... tables are properly spaced. You can check the panoramic picture I posted. Looks dark in the picture but you can blame my phone for that or just me lol We started with drinks; White sangria - not pre made so I requested to adjust alcohol to my liking. It is delicious (to remind myself for next time to ask for less ice) . My hubby ordered dirty martini . It was done perfectly served with olives and cheese just the way it should. It passed my husband's picky taste. As to our entree- servings are pretty big. When servings are huge , my normal experience in restaurants are they are lacking in taste. But to my surprise, not at Barn door. The swordfish entree is juicy (not dry at all). Same with the chicken entree. Btw, our app is mussels and the broth that came with is so good as well. Please note that this restaurant has special menu. Servers are very attentive . Coffee tasted as if it is French pressed and served with steamed milk. My cappuccino is excellent as well. Apple blueberry cobbler a la mode is fantastic. We had a great experience so In short, we will be returning customers. Btw, When we get our check... can't believe the total cost. We had heard great things and we were excited to try it. We ordered: appetizer the zucchini bites, French onion soup, one of the salads, the salmon, a burger (barn door), and the scallops special. All were cooked ok - however with the exception of the soup they weren't good plates of food. The scallops were $36 for 4 small on top of risotto that was bland. the salmon was covered in sauce and was over cooked. The bill was over $200 with tip. Two glasses of wine. We felt that this place isn't close to worth that price. for what we received it should have been less. there are far better places to go for that amount of money. service was also slow on a night when it wasn't that busy. read more

We recently had a baby shower here for my sister, and Arber and his staff were outstanding! They were very accommodating, the food was delicious and plentiful, and the restaurant was lovely. My wife and I came into the restaurant Saturday after dropping our daughter off at College. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess, and sat near the kitchen door, where we continued to see into the kitchen when they opened the door. The kitchen was filthy, not the normal busy night dirty. My wife went to the bathroom, and commented that the ladies room was filthy, and a man was coming out of the woman's room, and left the seat up. We had dinner and were not impressed. The pasta was sitting in a pool of grease/butter. We shared a Tuna appetizer that was decent, until we were both violently ill a few hours later. I had a different entree, so the common thing was the tuna and a split salad. Monday, I went to my Dr. He said I had food poisoning. My wife was feeling better and did not go, but this is too bad, we used to love coming here and think there is new ownership/cooks/staff? WILL NOT BE BACK read more

Truly enjoyed this place! I read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. I was expecting a very rustic spot and decor and although there was some rustic decor it was also very updated as well. We enjoyed our ride to the restaurant but were ready to eat when we finally got there. To start off we had a half dozen oysters which were delicious. For our meal my girlfriend ordered the lamb burger and I had the BBQ ribs. Both meals were absolutely delicious. The lamb burger was so juicy and tasty. It was cooked at the perfect temperature and every bite was full of flavor and juices. My BBQ ribs were fall of the bone delicious. They were perfect just how I like them. I could have eaten another rack. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back to try other menu items. read more

We live in Long Island and are staying at The Huckleberry House (look it up on Air bnb and IG @huckleberryquarters - it's gorgeous!) and we wanted a nice sit down restaurant for dinner. My wife got The Farmhouse burger and I got the photo below ( Mack n cheese pizza with spicy sausage) and we ordered a Pasta Ala Vodka. Everything was so fresh and delicious! I'm telling you honestly, that Pasta sauce was the BEST ala vodka we have EVER had. Also the service was amazing considering we were sitting outside (pandemic lol). Grabbed dinner before a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse 3 miles away. Service was excellent. Parking was difficult but we managed. Manager was spot on. Food was very good. My ratings are 4 stars for an excellent meal first visit. I add the 5th star if I return a couple times and it is consistently excellent. Barn Door will get the 5th star updated if the next couple times it is as good as it was last night. We had a hangar steak, chicken parmesan, a couple salads, tuna and clam chowder. We had some wine (wine list should give you enough to choose from) and beer (beer list the same) and felt as though we got a decent value on top of excellent food. Give it a try yourself! read more

By Fairfield County standards their prices are quite reasonable. Can get a bit noisy after 8pm. Highly recommend. Suggest avoiding sitting near the big round table in the corner. I came in here just to have a quick bite to eat at the bar, and was pleasantly surprised! Inside, they've done a nice job capturing that farm-to-table vibe, and they are also big equestrian fans. It's nice and cozy, and there are TVs behind the bar. The bartenders were all friendly, and clearly this place has their regulars! They have a full bar, plus beer on tap. I tried a Cucumber/Jalapeño Margarita off their cocktail menu, which had just the right amount of heat to it, and also just ordered the Eggplant Stack and a side of the Brussels Sprouts. The eggplant was pretty good, but nothing unexpected, and the Brussels sprouts were fantastic, and cooked to perfection with bacon (which, of course, makes everything better). I have always enjoyed eating at Barn Door, but I've apparently never written a review. Well, better late than never! I find the location very cozy to dine in, either in the dining room or at the bar. But tonight, we ordered delivery. We had the wedge salad, which is always a winner, and added the grilled shrimp, which were plump and tender. We also tried the lemon spaghetti. I had never had it before, but my goodness was it delicious. It had such a bright, refreshing flavor which made it perfect for spring. I ate much more than I intended, but I feel fabulous - perfectly full without feeling overly heavy and stuffed. As I gradually start eating out more, I will definitely add Barn Door back into my regular rotation. read more

The food here is always great. However, service is always less than good, at best. We came in on a very slow Saturday afternoon, 3 other tables were there. The lady who was bussing the tables had major attitude, definitely didn't want to be there. Our waitress took forever to come back to take our order after we needed a couple more minutes to decide. Setting up the other rooms tables were far more important than her tables. I made eye contact and tried to wave to her several times and was ignored. Then, when our food arrived my husband asked for red pepper for his dish. The woman went over to where they keep this and proceeded to start polishing silverware. We were more than halfway through our meal when our actual waitress came over to check on us and we asked for the red pepper again. She never popped in when our food arrived to make sure everything was okay. We then asked for another glass of Prosecco. This took 15 minutes. She again was way more concerned with setting tables. Should be noted also - my husband ordered a special off the menu for that day, we were charged $27 when it showed $24. Only $3, but the principal of it coupled with the bad service makes it hard to want to come back. It just felt like we were more of a nuisance than anything. Again, the food here is always great. We've been several times. But the service is just never worth the price you pay for the meals. read more

I know this little gem in Ridgefield has been open for about five years but this is my first visit. We were a party of six and we were greeted by the owner and graciously shown to our table. From the moment we were seated we were treated like family. Let me first speak to the decor. The focal point of the dining room is a beautiful fireplace surrounded by built ins with shelves. I really felt as though I was in the owner's dining room. Our server, Silvana, introduced herself and our drinks were served promptly. Silvana took time to explain each appetizer and entree that we were interested in. We ordered two portions of the Shrimp Dumplings and I would greatly recommend this app. The chili dipping sauce was just spicy enough. Salads didn't disappoint either. I had no intention of ordering a hamburger but I was so happy that I did. Of the six diners at our table, four of us had delicious, juicy burgers. The tuna was served perfectly as was the ravioli for the other two diners at our table. During our dinner, the owner stopped by our table a couple of times just to be certain everything was to our liking. Our server, Silvana, was wonderful as was her assistant whose name I neglected to ask. He looks a bit like Bruno Mars and he provided excellent service. But was very surprised when 'the manager' stopped-by telling me IT WAS TIME TO LEAVE BECAUSE HE NEEDED THE TABLE (although I was still enjoying the dinner). Very unprofessional and disrespectful. When I asked, he stated that he DID NOT CARE IF I WOULD NEVER COME BACK. I try to support local restaurants. But 'managers' like this do not deserve their client.
