I was looking for a specific book that a friend of mine recommended. Why not just buy from Amazon and save anywhere from 20% to 60%? Well because I couldn't wait to grab it since I was flying out the next morning and needed it to read for my long flight. I asked one of the cashiers if they had it in stock and where I could find it and she said there was one copy left and where to grab it. I was out the door in the next five minutes. I'm very surprised these book stores are still around since they sell books for much more than Amazon but it was awesome to be able to grab what I needed due to poor planning on my end. This is my go to place if I'm searching for a book. Who am I kidding? I think Barnes & Noble is probably the only large chain bookstore in the Las Vegas valley. I go to this location because it's located in an area that is convenient to me. The store is big and they do carry a good variety of books, novelty items and children's interest. There's even a Starbucks cafe for those who want to enjoy a cup of joe or snack. My only dislike is that the store needs an update. It' feels dingy in there and the Starbucks area is in need of a refurbishment as well. It kinda feels like this store is struggling to stay open. Heck, the public library has nicer bookshelves and seating than this Barnes & Noble. It was sad to see how empty this store was on a Monday night. I walked into Barnes & Noble on edge. The kind of morning where you're already carrying too much and you're just trying to run an errand and get out. All I needed was a gift card. Nothing special. In my head it was going to be: walk in, grab it, pay, leave. Then I got to the register and met Bob. The energy shifted immediately. Bob wasn't just polite, he was present. He greeted me with this real smile, not the forced retail smile, the kind that actually reaches someone. He talked to me like a person instead of rushing me through a script. He knew what he was doing, answered everything I asked without acting annoyed, and made the whole checkout feel relaxed and easy. It was fast, smooth, zero stress, and somehow still warm. The store itself was spotless and calm, which I appreciated, but I'm writing this because of him. I walked up feeling like I was just getting one more thing done. I walked away actually feeling better than when I walked in. That doesn't happen in most stores. Bob made me feel welcome and valued, not just processed. I love B&N. Typically I will spend some time perusing the options and selecting books- it can take some time! I went to the new store at Tyson's and was enjoying my excursion when I had to use the restroom. Usually no big deal. Usually. I found the doors locked with a keypad and no combination posted. A bit annoying, but ok. So I had to hunt down a salesperson- not easy - only to be told that the code is printed on a receipt; you have to buy something first. So not cool. Needless to say, I abandoned my stack of books and left the store to find a restroom and did not go back. I can always order from Amazon. read more

The bookstore is very well organized and stocked, I can absolutely get lost in here for hours. The cafe also produces really nice drinks. Generally it's pretty quiet in here. I brought my laptop to get some work done, I probably wouldn't recommend that as the tables are very small and hard to navigate. The only decent size table had the cafe staff sitting on break. I will say it was quite distracting as they were quite loud. Understandable though since the contrast of the rest of the establishment makes it seem like any sound you make is super loud Overall it's a great space to enjoy a coffee & a book but maybe not so great to study or work. First time visiting this location. Great selections of books, it was so crowded I will have to go back so I can take my time going through the isles again. They have great deals and sales here, nothing seems overpriced. When I went to check out I felt very rushed as all the cashiers were yelling & rushing everyone in line to check out & pay. I wanted to take my time looking at the bookmarks & magazines that's provided in line on the way to the checkout people but they kept yelling for the next person in line, it was a little stressful. They offered me the rewards card which I signed up for but their explanation took foreverrrrrr. Just sign me up & let me go since you rushed me to the cashier anyway haha. read more

At check out, the lady told me do I want to sign up for a prime membership it would be free because I'm spending so much and it would save me 10% The fucking lie will show you on the receipt that she indeed charge me for a membership of 39.99 How awful you must be to lie for your own good, do you guys get bonus point for doing that to people or Extra pay on your paycheck? I will be returning and have a whole conversation with the cashier and the manager . Don't tell customer that is a free membership and yet try to sneak it in without thinking that I'm going to look at my own receipt and what I spend my dime on. People work hard for their money. The last thing anybody need is a staff for them to be lied to over some membership when your staff clearly say is free. read more

This is my second favorite bookstore in the city. I love the displays and the organization of different book areas. The tables are always laid out very well. The staff is friendly and helpful without being overbearing. This store is as good for it's books as it is for magazines, calendars, anime, doodads and kitchy items, cute pop up cards, and merchandise. They tend to have the most easily accessible little books - which are a longtime favorite of mine. Mini books/little books have charming illustrations and a bunch of uplifting, thought- provoking books. The other locations are bigger on small box items - which I admit I also love! Whenever I feel a need to recharge - this is where I go! read more

It's Saturday 7/6/2024 at about 6:00 pm. It's pretty busy here. Lots of mothers and young kids picking books and little toys to enjoy. There were many books on sale and the people they helped me pick them. Always a good selection of books and magazines to choose from. They also helped me to order a book. I just want to start off by saying this review is not based on this location in general but more of my experience with the cashier we had today. For some reason Galen was extremely flustered and annoyed with how many things I was purchasing when I plopped them on the counter. She said "Oh boy" when I set everything down and it wasn't a friendly "oh boy" by any means. She was clearly annoyed with having to do her job and ring up all my stuff. She let me know with an attitude that she didn't have bags big enough for the large Calico Critter item I was purchasing as if that would deter me from buying it in the 1st place. I politely said "that's fine. we can carry it out." At the end of the transaction she showed me how irritated she was that she had to walk away with my $240 to make sure my $100 bills were real also. We love coming to this location even though the Town Square location is much closer to us. We enjoy this bigger location and I just wish I wouldn't have been SUCH an inconvenience to Galen because our experience ended so sour just by feeling so unwelcome. read more

I was looking for Christmas presents . They have a great selection of books in all categories here in Summerlin. The staff was very helpful when I needed help locating specific books, which I appreciated. They also had some good recommendations. Plenty of staff at checkout, so the line went quickly. Decided to hop over to this Barnes & Noble today as it's mine and my friend's day off, looking forward to finding books, vinyl, and so much more. However, after finding quite a lot of great items and waiting in line for minute or two, we were met with one of the most unpleasant, disinterested, and insolent cashiers I've ever met (this is coming from an 8 year cashier myself). Before purchasing, I tried a phone number for rewards, and was told it wasn't in the system. I asked if there was a discount if I signed up today, and was told "It depends on what you're buying." I told the large bothered man in a blue shirt, "I'm buying vinyl," to which he said again, "Yeah well it depends." At no point was it offered to actually get signed up, so I'm still not sure what I'm missing out on. When asking about an item that had a discount sticker on it, the man did really shoddy math in his head, and guesstimated the cost. I passed on the item because he wouldn't ring it up so I was unsure of how much it would come out to. Not only was it on sale, but the box of the product was very beat up and I was hoping that perhaps there would be an additional discount or at least I could know what it would actually cost. I ended up buying only one vinyl because of how uncomfortable the man made me and my friend feel during both of our purchased. My friend bought a book before me, and was also not offered to get signed up for rewards. Definitely not coming back, despite a lovely selection. read more

Yes, it's a book store, but it's also so much more. It's a meeting place to grab coffee with a friend, it's a toy store for kids, it's a one stop shop for perfect birthday gifts, teacher gifts, holiday gifts, etc. You can't attend a live book reading or have a meet-and-greet with the author on Amazon, no sir. But you can here! B&N even has a membership program so you always get discounts just by providing your phone number or email address. I truly hope that B&N never goes out of business like Borders did. The instant gratification of choosing the perfect book and then cracking it open that day just can't be beat! First Barnes and Noble I have been to where the majority of the staff are actually nice. Not the best Barnes and Noble coffee shop in Vegas, but way better then what the Henderson location turned into. Lots of different merchandise. I love the 4k blu ray selection and anime collectible variety they have. And not everything has that stupid spider lock thing on so hard that it absolutely ruins the box. I once asked a lady at Henderson if they could not tie it down so hard that it cuts into the box, and she went frantic. read more

Probably my favorite Barnes & Noble I been to thus far. Beside the standard selection of latest editions and bestsellers, there are 3 racks of latest magazines located just to the left of the main entry next to the large windows providing the natural lighting most preferred during the day. Not way in the back like other book stores I been to. The coffee shop to the left wall is nicely designed with plenty of cozy 2 chair per table seating. Good selections of solid food than just coffee. The quiche is amazing and is a must try for those who likes em. Book lovers could stay here forever reading and never be hungry lol. Overall, the atmosphere is bright where half the light is coming from outside during daylight. VERY clean inside and organized. No scattered or stacks books on the floor when I was there. Smells like a true book store like opening the book cover for the first time waiting to be read. Knowledgeable staff that are helpful and if a book is not in stock, it can be ordered with no commitment to buy. However, it seems like there are way too much space reserved for non books like gifts. Sections of Star Wars merchandise, plush animals and other toys. Glass case characters from popular story books and a large kids only section. Music and movies can be found here too. It just means there are less space to carry hard to find covers and classics books as well as a wide selection of books by best selling authors older works. I understand marketing merchandise is a profitable avenue but it's getting out of hand imo. Located off Charleston Blvd, westside of Summerlin where there is a mecca of large shopping centers on both sides of this long boulevard. Cashier: 0284 have a horrible and rude attitude! Luckily I got the nice cashier 1001. Cashier 0284 looked at us like we were going to steal stuff behind the counter and rudely said, "EXCUSE ME!" when we were just viewing what they had and we already made our purchases and were waiting for our relatives to be rung for their purchases and sadly our relatives got her as their cashier and she was rude through the whole transaction and never smiled nor said thank you. She also rudely just yelled at my relative, "ARE YOU READY?!" just to call her over to her register from the line. Seriously, if you didn't want to work that day, you should have called off because there's no reason for you to be so rude and such a b*tch to customers for no reason. And yes, I'm calling you out by your cashier number, so this review will only be focused on YOU. I point out the note on the machine says 3 plus I have been getting this drink for over 15 years on the regular and know the color. He said a trainee made the note so I pulled up the starbucks app to show him the number of shots. His reply was a sarcastic "okay" with a smile. Nothing more. read more

Nice to see a retail establishment that's jumping! Holiday deals on Christmas items. Lots of people shopping! New bestsellers need some kind of discount because they are outrageous; average $28! This review however is largely in part for the cafe which I was extremely impressed with. They have a huge selection of deserts and food alike. I ordered the broccoli and cheddar cheese quiche which was hands down the best quiche I have ever eaten! They sell a tea brand which I've never heard of; Harney and Sons, from New York. I had a cold mango and orange tea from the cooler which was delicious. I would definitely like to try their hot teas as the cold was outstanding. The server was nice and promptly heated the quiche-I will definitely be back to try other desert and food items! read more

Looking for some more enrichment I decided to "explore some new frontiers, seek out new life experiences, and boldly go where I have not been before!" So many different sections where to begin. One can never go wrong with the classics; such as Poe, Shelley, Fitzgerald, Stoker, Dickens, Orwell, and Verne. These are just some of the masters of literature. They wield the pen like a saber. The classic authors deliver their masterpieces with elegance. We get to lose ourselves in their epic tales and words of wisdom! As I browse through the books it makes me sad, to know that literature on the shelves is collecting dust. The digital revolution is here and to stay and is only getting larger! Sure there are digital books that we can enjoy or the newest audio books are fantastic too. The feel and comfort that comes from holding a book is indescribable! As a parent I have encouraged my twins to read since they were little things. We have made a day of visiting Barnes and Noble and every time we took home a handful of books. The visit today is for some new books for the twins to have new flavors and variation in their home schooling assignments. The chapter books get harder and longer as they get older, and here at Barnes and Noble the selection is fantastic. If you are seeking a book that is not in stock they will order it for you. Today the twins found a Jules Verne novel to get lost in. They are going to take the plunge with "10,000 Leagues Under the Sea." I approve of this wonderful read. It will be a great adventure they can share and enjoy forever. While the twins were looking for a new read, I found some classics that they may or may not be crazy for. The twins were a little bored when we read such classic works as Plato and varied Shakespeare novels. They still payed attention and learned so much. My selections this round are going to make them love me even more, but someday they will thank me. Voltaire is one of the most challenging authors to understand aside from Nietzsche. Philosophy is to me the most beautiful and powerful knowledge that once you figure it out, "ropes part, and champagne falls from the heavens." I believe as the twins teacher second and mother first, reading if it could be wrapped with a red bow would be the one present they could forever cherish. The selection of these novels is extensive here. The lovely staff were amazing in aiding me in finding the proper section in the store where to find the authors I was seeking. The works of Nietzsche I found right where the store associate said it would be. Voltaire on the other hand was harder to find. The inventory on the computer stated that they had Voltaire in stock. Trying to find this rogue book was another thing. After so much effort from two staff member and so many thanks stating, I'm so sorry, it was time to order it. The store associate was considerate and waved the shipping fee for the grief we went through trying to find the phantom book. I will receive it in the mail next week. The staff here go above and beyond the call of their job descriptions, plus they did it with real concern and respect. This is why when I need new books for the twins or my personal use I seek out the Jedi masters of literacy. If you urge arises that you need brain food, Barnes and Noble has you covered. The little cafe inside of the store serves Starbucks coffee only, but sells a variety of so many amazing pastries, cookie, and even real food like sandwiches. The staff make the cookies fresh from the oven, they are delivered frozen; but it makes no difference in the quality or deliciousness of them. They serve the finest cheesecake around which is made by The Cheesecake Factory. Really there food is a collection of some of the best names in the food biz. You can sit and read either inside or on the patio. It is very quiet and perfect for that last chapter you have to finish. Really to find out what is going to happen! read more
