My review takes into consideration a new restaurant, which always has kinks to work out. I've tried every restaurant at this location since the original (I believe) Bayside Grille. It's a wonderful location with beautiful views. Easy to get there by car or boat or golf cart. I would love for this restaurant to succeed. My friend and I went at 2:00 in the afternoon. I had the shrimp scampi, which I thought was delicious! We split the amazing shaved Brussels and my friend had the burger and fries. The food was very good! My only complaint would be that, considering we were the only people in the restaurant, the service was slow. We ended up having to walk up to the front to find our server in order to pay. It's a bright and beautiful space with great views. Ambiance 10/10. Worth a try! read more

We had a party of 20 celebrating a birthday. Someone came by and put bottles of water on our table, but we didn't have any glasses. we had to ask twice for glasses. We ordered drinks and it took about 30 min. to get drinks. We finally got to order food. It took about an hour to get our food. They weren't that busy. Our server was way over her heard. She was flustered every time she came to our table. One person in our party asked the manager for help and she told her that she doesn't help the servers. Food is sub par. The server had to redo our checks 3 times. We got there at 5:30 and left at 9:00. I don't plan on going back. read more

What a beautiful view! Went with a couple of friends to have a cold beverage and ended up having a few appetizers as well. The service was top notch and all staff members are very friendly and welcoming. The owner of this incredible restaurant should be very proud! The shrimp and crab dip was very good. All other dishes were not. Conch fritters were burnt. The etouffe had almost no seafood in it, and the roux tasted like Wolf brand chili. The blackened redfish was OK at best. The horseradish mashed potatoes were pretty decent after adding quite a bit of salt. Service was good, I just wish the food was better! read more

Had brunch here today. Hubby had the prime rib with mashed potatoes. I had the Blt with fried potatoes. The food was outstanding!!! JD was our server, he was amazing. We had 5.00 bloody marys. Second visit last night. First one was pretty good, but service was really slow. I think they had recently opened so we chalked it up to common start up struggles. Restaurant is very nice with great views. Last night, roughly 4-5 tables taken upstairs. Reservation started at 7:30. Ordered drinks which arrived after 8. My drink was terrible. Later explained as lack of sweet vermouth. Food arrived. Grouper was inedible. Salad for $19 was like a side salad at other restaurants and chicken was chewy without flavor almost like boiled. Chicken sandwich was the same. Waiter was nice, bartender apologized and so did a manager. read more

Food was excellent. We started with the crab and shrimp dip...oh, man. It was so good that I could have made a meal out of it alone. My wife had the crab cakes and horseradish potatoes. Very good. I had the étouffée and it was good as well. As for cocktails, my wife had a rain killer...she really liked it. I had my go to old fashioned. They know how to make one. Got the fish and shrimp. Was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. It was so salted I couldn't eat more than one small piece of fish and 2 shrimp. It was also burnt. I had my first experience in the bar upstairs. I was told that the menu downstairs is different than the bar. I'm not sure why restaurants do that. The servers have to go downstairs to get the food either way. My shrimp was good. I wish there was more local fare in the menu. It was interesting that no one's burger or sandwich came with the condiments listed on the menu and these were not available on the table. Utensils were requested multiple times. When we visit the area we are within walking distance so we have been looking forward to this opening. There is no real difference I can see between Barometers and the other establishment also within walking distance. I think there are many kinks to work out. Also, I would consider examining a flag choice in the upstairs bar. read more

We had trouble finding the place. Crab dip and steak was good; ahi tuna sandwich was from frozen and the customer is charged the credit card fee on top of the tax and tip. I wouldn't go back but our server was great and there were some bright spots. read more

We were excited to try Barometer this week but our experience was definitely mixed. There were only two tables taken which was surprising having driven by other restaurants that were very busy even though it was mid afternoon. I had the shrimp scampi and was very disappointed with the taste. I disliked the wine that was used and took only a handful of bites. I was surprised that the wine and tomato drowned out any butter or garlic flavor. The wine that was used when combined with the tomato created a very strange taste. Maybe they should rename it to something more in line with the taste but for anyone looking for shrimp scampi this is not it. I also ordered shaved brussels which the server said were grilled. If they were grilled, I could not tell. They had a good bit of oil on them and had a sweet taste but no grill marks or darkening at all. They were also very under seasoned and I tried to add salt to make up for it but was never able to add enough. My husband had fried grouper and shrimp which was good. The food was crispy and had a good taste. The fries were the best part of our meal. The potatoes are cut wide but very thin and the seasoning was tasty. The restaurant decor was coastal although sparse and primarily fish on the walls. The view from the restaurant and especially outside is of the water but also boats obscure much of your view. In summary, we were disappointed and it is certainly not up to the standard of Playa or Shipps the two previous tenants. I will give it another try but if fried food is their specialty, I prefer many other places in OBA. read more
