Stopped in for lunch buffet. The pizza was kept in a glass enclosed warmer capable of holding 8 pizzas, then they have a buffet style setting with an assortment of salad and hot dishes. I tried their Italian beef which was very tender and sliced thin. They had mashed potatoes so I took a sampling of these which were an instant or blend. The large meatball burst with flavor and was very tender. Great meatball! I did like their thin crust pizza with a healthy amount of sauce/cheese/ and toppings. Their sausage for the pizza was very tasty as was the pepperoni. I think the three offerings of pizza: pepperoni, sausage, or cheese, were going to be the lunch selection for the buffet Worth stopping in for lunch or another time slot. The pizza from Barraco's is very good. The pizza is consistently the same and delicious, we've never had a pizza from here that was bad. The only negative is that ordering online is odd, they don't accept credit card payments online. You have to swipe ur card with the delivery person with some contraption they have. Barraco's is one of those Southside Chicago pizza chains that's been around for a while now, and they've expanded their operation to 7 locations. We recently visited the newer Orland Park location that took over a space long occupied by Traverso's - which was another long-standing neighborhood pizzeria. They haven't changed much since they took over and it gives the place a great "old school" vibe. We recently decided to belly-up to the baron a Saturday night, order some pizza and beer and watch some college football. The restaurant and bar were both crowded and they even had a guy playing some yacht rock - AM gold - on the acoustic guitar. Nice touch. Our bartender Emily confided that she didn't normally tend bar and was just filling in for someone who had called off. She probably needs to see about switching positions because she was wonderful. She had a great attitude and was super friendly. She made some great menu suggestions and was pretty much a natural behind the bar. We decided to split some fried calamari and a small Nonno Vito thin crust pizza. The Nonno Vito features mozzarella cheese, basil, sliced tomatoes, garlic and olive oil. Calamari is one of those things where you can absolutely tell if it's fresh or frozen and dumped out of a bag purchased at Restaurant Depot. We didn't expect Barraco's to dial up the fresh stuff?!? Well they did, and it was some of the best fried calamari the wife and I have ever had. It even feels weird to type that.... We've eaten A LOT of fried calamari, and I'm telling you theirs was perfect. Not too salty and super tender. Served with marinara and fresh lemon - all it needed was a splash of Tabasco and it was perfect. The Nonno Vito pizza was also absolutely delicious. I was half expecting the garlic to overpower the other ingredients as it often does, but it was very subtle. The tomatoes were sliced thin and super ripe. Really, really good. We washed it all down with a couple of cold draft beers..... dammit, it really couldn't have been much better. We'll definitely be back - sooner than later. read more

This location is in the old Traverso's restaurant on Harlem Ave. They very quickly became one of my go-to places for pizza. Barraco's pizza is really good from this location. The Wolf Road location isn't as good and you have to be careful on the food apps because they tend to push you to that one. Check the address! Anyway, I've never eaten in but the place looks pretty nice. They have a small store inside where you can find Italian groceries. Anyway, the pizza. I usually get Fox's because that's my favorite and they're just down the street, but when I want something different it's Barraco's. Like I usually say about pizza I enjoy, their thin is legit, the crust is a good consistency and flavor. The sauce isn't overly sweet like some places are. They use good cheese and other toppings. Their takeout is in the back, so you have a dedicated entrance and avoid the dinner crowd waiting for tables. read more

Hubby and I decided on a whim to stop by and order carryout. There is a sign on the front entrance to go to the back for carryout, so that is where we went. Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. They have a very cute store where they sell liquor, baked goods which are delivered fresh every morning from a bakery (I can't remember the name), cookies for $1, ice cream, various desserts such as cheesecake, brownies, tiramisu, frozen foods, soda, etc. I bought the Nono pizza from their store and hubby ordered a slice of sausage pizza, and we also ordered their buffalo wings. We both enjoyed our pizzas. I thought the buffalo wings could have been a bit spicier, but they were good. Next time hubby plans on trying their slice of lemon cake and I want to try their brownie with nuts. If you are in the area, definitely stop by and give them a try. read more

Very disappointing in many ways. The oil for the bread has something black on the bottom. I assume may be some type of vinegar?? Not sure. Crust on pizza seemed as if it was store bought. Soup no flavor at all. Salt didn't come out of shaker. Pepper grind was wrong for the shaker none came out either. Cheese and pizza toppings good. Sausage was flavorful but seemed like it had been cooked hours ago. Noodles which are pictured on the left were swimming in the sauce. Sauce was decent. Waitress was nice but very busy. We have been waiting for Barraco's to open - YAY it's here!! They were slammed, yet the order was ready for pick-up when they said it would be. The pizza held true to the Barraco's quality that I grew up loving. Delicious!! I ordered a small cheese, well done with basil. There is a cute little Italian store inside. They sell a variety of bread, olive oil, sauce, frozen food, desserts, liquor, juice, soda, etc etc. I picked up some hot giardinera and pastina. We went there last night for pizza and will never come back. The calamari was super salty. The marinara was greasy & runny. Told the waitress and all she said was sorry. Didn't offer another appetizer or anything else. The pizza came (simple order sausage & garlic). It was greasy!! The center of the pizza had a puddle of grease. The cheese just didn't look right. We think they used the same marinara sauce on the pizza as what they served with the calamari. We each had a couple of pieces of pizza & we were done. Our stomachs just didn't feel right. The bill came and went f course the calamari was still on there. Paid $54 for bad food. Oh and the 3% fee for paying by DEBIT card not credit card. We will not be back !! We ordered a couple of pizzas tonight. We ordered a small cheese, mushroom and onion with Xtra cheese. Also their largest pizza with sausage, tomato, basil, garlic & onion. The cheese pizza was TERRIBLE! No toppings at all on the pizza but it had some weird cheese that looked dried up and way too salty. I'm sure it wasn't mozzarella. I was soooo disappointed. The other pizza was kind of weird tasting too. Very small amounts of toppings and just not tasty like a pizza should be. So if you go to Barrocos in Orland Park, do not order pizza. Barocco's, what has happened to you? I used to work for you guys when I was a teenager and the pizza doesn't taste the same. Once you moved into the new Traverso's location. It seems to have changed. The sausage is very spicy and it never used to be always had a great fennel flavor not really liking that the last time we got carry out was not good at all so maybe you guys could take a look at your quality control what's going out the door on Deliveries and carryout maybe offer a sausage that isn't so spicy. read more

If I could give this place negative stars, I'd do it in a heartbeat. My in-laws and I went to this so-called restaurant expecting a pleasant Friday evening dinner, hoping for a menu with enough variety to satisfy everyone, whether we wanted pizza or something else. What a colossal mistake that was. The service was passable--the waitress was polite enough, so I won't pin this disaster on her. But the food? An absolute travesty. My in-laws ordered the chicken parmesan and veal parmesan, each with a side--one got a baked potato, the other mostaccioli. When the plates arrived, it was painfully obvious the meals were inedible. They barely touched their entrees, poking at their sides instead, clearly trying to avoid the main disaster. After an awkward silence, my father-in-law finally had enough and told the waitress how utterly dreadful the food was. She sent a manager over, who, after some back-and-forth, agreed to comp the meals because they were so poorly made that remaking them would've been pointless. Then came the bill, and I nearly lost it. $70 for a single pizza? Are you kidding me? After scrutinizing the receipt, I saw they had the audacity to charge us for the side dishes and slap on a gratuity we didn't agree to. But the cherry on top of this infuriating night? They tacked on a 3% transaction fee just for paying with a card. This place is an overpriced, poorly run mess, and I'll never set foot here again. This Barraco's pizza and Italian restaurant took over the old Traverso's on Harlem in Orland Park. We like many others were waiting for them to open ... and we are glad they did. They didn't do much inside as the dining rooms look very similar to when it was Traverso's, but that's not a bad thing either. The overall ambiance was very nice ... open and airy. Waitstaff was also very good when we were there; they have a good floor supervisor who keeps things moving correctly. The food was routinely good. We started out with the cheese sticks and they were 4 star good - nice crust and nicely done so the cheese inside was soft. For Dinner: One in our party had the Italian Beef sandwich (3 star good because the beef tasted like the old frozen Gaucho's you used to be able to buy at grocery stores ... and the au jus had no real distinctive taste ... the au jus at Al's is much tastier); another in our party had the Sausage and Pepper plate (4 star excellent and a huge portion, two links of good sausage and many strips of roasted green and red peppers); the last in our party had the Fettuccini Alfredo (another 4 to 4.5 star offering that was creamy with nicely done pasta). The house chianti was 4 star nice, and an adequate serving for the price point (you get better pours at Capri). All-in-all the food was 4+ star stuff, and makes you want to return to try the pizza. Now they did do one thing I didn't like, and that was add a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card. I am sure I'm just old-fashioned, but I think it is a cheap habit many restaurants have adopted. What used to be a convenience for the customer (using their credit card), apparently is now a great burden for the business so they stuff it back on you ... so much for my convenience. I wish they would simply raise prices 1.5% across the board (which on a $25 main course would be less than 40 cents) and that would pay for anyone using a credit card - sort of like crowd sourcing the fee. Just me, but I think it is a cheap move by an otherwise classy place. All to say ... very good food and recommended. read more

I'll start off with the food I ordered a medium size thin crust, sausage, pepperoni, and green pepper with extra sauce pizza when I picked this pizza up, it looked like it was overcooked. The green peppers were burned, and the cheese look very dry. They are accused me of letting it sit in the warmer too long And as far as I'm concerned, all they did was make excuses instead of asking me what they could do to correct my unsatisfaction. Now let's talk about the service. I spoke to two young ladies that would not give me their names, very unprofessional, and when I asked to speak to the owner, it was as if I never asked for that to take place. It was avoided a continue to have arguments with the two ladies. They were very insulting. I tried to inform them that they were speaking to a retired chef. Their answer to me was were professionals too, so what I wouldn't go here for the tea in China they couldn't give me a free pizza because I don't trust that they wouldn't do something foul to it before giving it to me. This was the former Traversos.. I called earlier in the afternoon on TUESDAY to make a reservation for karaoke. I was told all tables had been spoken for and that there was seating at the bar. I quickly grabbed 6 seats..lol Karaoke starts at 6:30 and ends at 9:30. They did some remodeling.. the area that used to be a seating area under the arch has been filled in with refrigerator cases of wine and desserts! I shared a pizza with a friend. Tried Barraco's in Orland Park for the 1st time, and it was horrible. I ordered Chicken Alfredo, and it was drenched with Alfredo sauce and hardly no chicken at all. This rating is based solely on the service. I write this review as I stand in the store and wait for my pizza to come up. I can only speak for the folks in the back for pickup, just horrible. Not friendly for minorities and the reason I'm writing the review is because they had no qualms with letting it be known. One woman who was not occupied with other duties openly refused to help me. I was lucky when another guy working the register decided to stop prepping and assist with my delivery. Sucks that this had to be my reality in 2023. read more

We held a funeral luncheon at the Harlem Ave location in Orland Park. Everything was wonderful. Barraco's is a Southside family tradition. The EP location was part of my childhood, family get togethers, birthday parties, funeral lunches, Friday night pizza. As an adult Crestwood carryout is always part of the rotation. Of course we were going to try to new Orland location and were thrilled to have one so close by. Last night's dine in experience was an abomination and I can't even believe that was a Barraco's establishment. The parking lot looked really full at 6:20pm on a Friday - good sign; they're doing well. But inside was pretty empty. Pretty quiet. Lots of open tables. Maybe there was a party in the back. We were sat immediately. Nice. Then things started clicking very quickly - why weren't they busy? We quickly realized. (And no, no big parties) It took almost 20 minutes for our server to come so we asked her to take our full order (including drinks) although she flew by twice in that 20 minutes saying 'give me one minute' acting so busy. Again, the place was not busy. We hardly saw her the entire time we were there. The service was horrible. Absolutely horrible. Delores wasn't just forgetful, she truly didn't care. So we wait 20 minutes after we order our food and drinks - 2 glasses of wine, 2 waters and 2 kids drinks. It took 20 minutes to receive them. She only brought 2 glasses of wine (no water) and we had to remind her of the kids drinks. Now we're at 40 minutes. 25 minutes after that our food finally arrives. Over an hour. Over an hour for garbage horrible food I've never seen come out of a Barraco's kitchen. The piccata sauce was broken and I was instead served an inch and a half of boiling hot lemon oil under my veal. The entire plate was 500 degrees because you could tell it sat under the heat lamp waiting for my husband's chicken dish. 3-4 bites in and we both had salt headaches. I'm telling you the food was f'ing disgusting. Have the Barraco's family been in lately to QA? Because they need to. This was unreal. And this hour wait wasn't just for entrées, I saw a table of 4 waiting that long for 2 pizzas too. I know finding people in the service industry right now is tough but the kitchen staff all need to be retrained because omg. And honestly, if Delores cared even a little bit she could've made the wait better but she was truly awful. Went out of her way to be neglectful. She came by our table, shook my son's kid cup and noticed it was empty but didn't say a word, didn't look up and never came back. No refills, no checking on us, we had to ask her to clear some plates as she was trying to zoom by (heading to her next smoke break likely). My friend and I are regular (almost weekly) visitors of Barraco's on Harlem. The food is great and Holly is usually our waitress. She is wonderful... so friendly and efficient.
