So thankful with the whole crew here!!! Swati, Mayra, Karla, Maria,Kristina, all took such great care of my brother who was in for an upper Gi endoscopy. I was told it would take a couple hour when I dropped him off but they were able to get him in and out fairly quick! They Called me to pick him up in about an hour or so and I was able to come in and meet the awesome crew when I picked him up! Special thanks to Swati for monitoring the whole procedure! I felt the atmosphere of care they showed my brother and left knowing he was under truly good care!!

They don't know how to put in an IV and will hurt you very badly

Came here for a colonoscopy. My Dr was just fine but the nurses (or whoever the women are that assist you in the back room) are not good. The one that put in my IV had no bedside manner. I was breathing heavy and tearing up because the IV was hurting me. And the nurse said to me "stop breathing so heavy or you will make yourself pass out". Then she left me there for like an hour just laying there suffering and waiting for the doctor. I flagged down another nurse and told her the IV was hurting me, but she said, it looks fine to me. Eventually I had to say look, if you don't bring me back to the Dr now I'm going to take this IV out and leave. They have a whole row of beds with people just laying there with IVs just waiting to be seen. They should not call you back an hour early just to make you lay there for a procedure that only actually takes 20 minutes. So they finally bring me back, do the procedure, no problems with that. But then when the nurse woke me up and wheeled me out to my ride in the wheelchair (they insist you cannot drive yourself and have to have a ride) the nurse starts telling my driver all my private protected health information!! Have they never heard of HIPAA?! She goes on telling my driver what they found during my colonoscopy and hands my driver the paperwork results, which includes actual pictures of the inside of my body! So illegal. I had not given my consent for this very private health info to be shared with my driver and I had to tell the nurse to please shut up. No idea how they have not gotten sued yet for breaking privacy laws. Then when I finally get home I have to use ice packs on my hand all night from the pain of the IV. And my hand was so sensitive that you could not touch it at all for weeks. That hand remained black and blue for 3 weeks. Very unprofessional employees, the doctor excluded.

This surgery center is being operated like a 3rd world facility! Scheduled operation delayed for more than an hour, patients laid in the overcrowded pre-op room like goods in an assembly line. Worst of all, my family member was treated by a heartless anesthesiologist who has no compassion to the patient. Dr. Lee, you saw the nurse struggling to put the IV in my sister's dehydrated tiny vein when you walked in, she had been without food for over 27 hours, and suffered 17 hours constant diarrhea for this colonoscopy that was behind schedule. You should know injecting the anesthetics too rapidly into the severe dehydrated small vein could cause unbearable pain to the patient! When my sister screamed from agony, you didn't even blink your eyes, not a word to ask if she's okay, just walked away! How do you feel if it's your family members on the receiving end? I'm thankful that my sister could get out alive, and am glad that the nurses and front desk staff doing their job courteously, but never will I recommend my friends and family members to receive medical services in this location, nor I feel so proud that Irvine has all the top notch physicians like I used to!

My IV not 1 bruise or any pain!!!

My previous visit ended with a misdiagnosis that didn't match my 26+ year documented history of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, and because the actual cause wasn't treated, things got significantly worse until I had no choice but to return. This time, the experience was night and day. I was seen by an actual team of doctors who took the time to review my history. Dr. P Juang and Primary Nurse Reed, correctly diagnosed me with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome, my actual, long-documented condition, and started the right treatment protocol. I finally got the medications that actually work for my condition, and the relief was immediate compared to the week I'd just been through. They were compassionate, actually listened to how my body was feeling and made sure that even when I left the hospital, I left feeling comfortable. I especially want to shout out my primary nurse, Reed. He was attentive, compassionate, and on top of everything the entire visit. When you're that sick, having a nurse who genuinely cares makes an enormous difference, and Reed went above and beyond. THIS is the standard of care I've known Hoag for over the years. NOT the experience I had last week. Even though last weeks experience ended up with me in pain for over a week and another trip back here, I was to thank you Dr. Juang, Primary Nurse Reed, and the whole team on Friday for listening, reading my chart, and treating the real problem.

For example, if your physician determines that the total time spent on your care is between 45 and 59 minutes, the visit may be billed at a higher evaluation and management level. The reported time can include not only your face-to-face appointment, but also time spent reviewing your medical records before the visit and completing documentation afterward. Hoag's recommendation: To check before your appointment, you may want to check with your insurance provider and Hoag's billing department to understand your potential out-of-pocket costs.

From the moment Dr. June Sadiq walked into the room, I could tell he was genuine, compassionate, and truly cared about his patients. He took the time to listen, answered every question thoroughly, and made my grandma feel comfortable during a stressful time. What stood out most was that he never made us feel rushed. He was attentive, thoughtful, and kept checking on her throughout her visit, which meant so much to our family. When I asked if he could speak with my daughter over the phone to explain my grandma's test results, he didn't hesitate. He patiently went over everything, answered all of her questions, and made sure she understood the situation completely. That level of kindness, patience, and professionalism is rare. Dr. Sadiq is truly a gem. UCI Medical Center is incredibly fortunate to have him as part of its team. Thank you for treating my grandma with such compassion and dignity. We will never forget the difference you made.

If I could give this hospital a negative review, I would. Unfortunately, I had a horrible…read moreexperience, and it was not because of the nurses. The nurses were friendly, caring, and did their best. My biggest issue was with the case managers. My father was admitted to the hospital due to shortness of breath, pneumonia, and cancer. He was placed in the older, run-down side of the hospital. During the summer, the room was extremely hot because the AC was not working, and they provided a fan to try to help. The room itself was also very small and uncomfortable. Again, I want to emphasize that we had no issues with the nurses. They were kind and helpful. The problem was the case management. It felt like the main priority was simply getting my father discharged as quickly as possible rather than making sure he had what he needed to safely go home. He was discharged without several necessary medical supplies and we were told they would be delivered afterward. Unfortunately, the vendor could not provide one of the supplies because the prescription they received from the case manager did not include the required model number. The vendor needed an updated prescription before they could send it. I called the case managers repeatedly, leaving multiple messages and calling every day for over a week. No one returned my calls. We eventually had to contact my father's doctors ourselves to try to resolve the issue. This should not have been necessary, especially for a patient dealing with cancer and recovering from pneumonia and breathing problems. It is extremely frustrating and disappointing to feel like the healthcare system no longer puts patients first. Discharge planning should be about making sure patients and their families have the proper support, medications, and medical equipment--not simply getting them out the door. UCI, please do better. Please consider replacing or retraining case managers who are unwilling to communicate with patients and families and who do not follow through on critical discharge needs. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this hospital, primarily because of the case management and lack of follow-up.

Warning for Prostate Cancer Patients: Lack of Preparation & Professionalism…read moreRating: 1/5 Stars I am a prostate cancer patient who recently transitioned to a PPO to seek care at City of Hope Irvine. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Jeffrey S. Yoshida was deeply concerning and did not live up to this institution's reputation. The Major Issues: Lack of Preparation: Despite transferring all my records, the doctor appeared not to have read my chart. He asked basic questions about my treatment (Brachytherapy/seed implants) that were clearly documented. Questionable Clinical Advice: He dismissed my concerns about PSA "nadir" timing for LDR Brachytherapy, claiming "they are all the same," which contradicts standard medical literature and my previous specialists' guidance. Professionalism & Privacy: I overheard the doctor making disparaging remarks about the "strange" patient he saw right before me while he was still in the hallway. This raised immediate concerns about how he discusses patients behind closed doors. Administrative Failure: I filed a formal complaint with City of Hope Patient Advocacy. They lost the complaint. I refiled a 2nd time and they called me in a day and promised a written response in 30 days. That time has now past and I have been ghosted. I canceled any future follow up with doctor and went to UC Irvine. The UCI doctor was spectacular. What a difference! Stay away from City of Hope. Bottom Line: If you are a patient who values a doctor who studies your history before walking in the room, I suggest looking elsewhere. My new doctor demonstrated professional immediately. He demonstrates better engagement and preparation.

The experience of the pregnancy and therefore the delivery was extremely painful (emotionally most of all) and difficult, but the nurses (particularly Krysti) and hospitalists (Dr. Martin and Dr. Diaz) were incredibly supportive, helpful, and compassionate. After they wrap your baby and let you hold them, they give you as much time as you need before they wheel your precious baby away for the last time. The memory box with footprints and a photo and memorabilia is outstanding; the offer of three therapy sessions with a grief therapist is an incredibly generous gesture; and overall I felt supported even in one of the most painful experiences a parent can have.
