Sat at the bar the younger female bartender with curly hair back in a bun wearing a crop top spent 90% of her time on the phone rolled her eyes at us anytime we asked for a drink. Little did she know that I'm a bar manager and it pains me to leave a bad review but we sat with empty drinks for over 20 minutes at a time and even when asking to close out she would walk off on her phone when she did finally bring the tab our card sat forever we had to ask 3 times for her to run our card. 20% is bare minimum tip for us and attempting to order higher end whiskey we always want to take good care of our bartender. The bar back took better care of us than her and the waitress on duty checked on us more than our bartender did. read more

It's a no for me. All of the food was cold except the potato salad, which was overly salted and steeply overpriced at $9.25. The brisket was dry as a bone, probably a couple of days old. Sausage and brisket both had a good flavor but too dry and cold and needed to be drenched in sauce to be palatable. The Mac and onion rings were good. Fries came out with NO salt or seasoning if any kind. It's hard to produce a French fry that two 13 year old kids reject. Everything just felt really inconsistent. There was only one server- the main dining area is kind of small but a large party came in right behind us and slowed our already slow service- which was fine because we were killing time, but if not it would have been wildly inconvenient as we waited over 20 minutes for our check to arrive. Went to try to find someone to get some salt for the fries and couldn't find a single employee for assistance. The live music was actually really good so made it a great atmosphere, but the food was underwhelming and disappointing considering the reviews. Must be friends or paid feedback, not sure. read more

If I could give no stars I would!! Came up to a dirty table. Never really cleaned it- just pretended. Kicked me and my group of 6 out. Said we were drunk after being there for 20 minutes. Food and service were awful. Never would I ever again. This place is not worth it. I feel like they could wish to be a much better establishment, but beyond fall short. Had two bad experiences here. First time we thought maybe it was just the staff working behind the bar, but gave it another try and got more of the same. If you plan on asking any questions about the menu be ready to be ridiculed under the server's breath. It's a whiskey bar, we ordered 5 pours on the rocks and the server was behind the bar bad mouthing our party loud enough for us to hear. This was night one. Next night we decided to eat their and hope for a different server. Food was actually pretty good but this server really didn't have any desire to serve our group. Sadly we spend over $500 there but won't be back. Servers should be able to speak about the menu and offer refills on empty beers more than every 30-40 minutes. There's just a negativity in the place unless you are one of the regulars at the bar top, they'll turn on the charm there. The staff vaping in the restaurant was another priceless touch. On the way to the car the assistant manager in the alley hiding smoking something special. Place looks nice, food is good but my goodness customer service is a stretch. read more

I used to absolutely love Barrel and Bones Carrollton. Unfortunately over the past few months the service has gone down hill tremendously. The staff is extremely unfriendly, unmotivated, and just flat out lazy. I've dined here for dinner many times and have had to go to the bar or get the "managers" (managers who do not manage what so ever) attention to get any kind of service. The staff would rather hangout and party with each other instead of serving the guests of the restaurant (ridiculous). The food has not been up to par as it used to be. The other Barrel and Bones locations have been so much better. This is truly a shame as Downtown Carrollton has only a few restaurants. Do not waste your time or money at this restaurant anymore!!! read more

This was a great find for a Saturday lunch. The service was super friendly and there was live music. That guy could sing!! The flavor and quality of the food really impressed us. This is definitely a step up from some of our regular barbecue stops (like Hutchins) They actually care about presentation of the plate. No sloppy serving here. Even the sides and garnishings are top quality. And the serving sizes are generous too. The manager came to our table when we were finished for a quick chat. Really nice guy and you can tell he truly cares about the restaurant. He gave us a little history on it and told us about some of the weekly specials. We only had 2 minor complaints and that's the only reason to not give 5 stars. Our mixed drinks were $12 (seemed steep for lunch and house liquor) And the music was literally so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. Our server had to time it 'between songs' to take orders or ask about extras. If the singer hadn't been so awesome, it would have been really painful at that noise level. We actually tore off little pieces of the beverage napkins to put in our ears to bring it down to a comfortable level. To be fair, these things wouldn't stop us from coming back. One start is GENEROUS. I wish I could give 0. Do you like cold nachos? Well, we got that twice! Sent it back the first time, and came out lukewarm and the waitress had the audacity to lie and say she "watched them" make them. Yeah, watch them NUKE that sh*t in the MICROWAVE. My friend should NOT have had to pay for that, but she did it out of courtesy to keep this joint running for a bit longer before the IRS comes and shuts it down for tax evasion, which is clearly imminent because they clearly couldn't afford to put any cheese on the nachos. What about pumice rocks, you fancy those? My friend's salad had croutons that oddly resembled them in texture and maybe a bit in color too. I'm sure they did a good job at emulating the flavor, as well, which I took a massive risk to my health and mental state in trying. And to top it off, it came with ONION VINAIGRETTE DRESSING, which was not vinaigrette at all, but rather an abomination that looked like Shrek sh!t out. So if you like Shrek excrement, come here! The waitress made us all so uncomfortable when my friend tried to explain she didn't like her food, and so did the manager, who thought it would be a great idea to grill my friend over her catastrophic onion concoction that would probably make an ORPHAN cry. It takes a lot to piss me off like this but I have never received such s*** customer service in my life. The 1 star is for the food, it's good not great. We came here for the first time Friday night to dine in. Our server was really nice and knowledgeable about drinks & recommendations but the service was very very slow. It took about 10-20 minutes to get anything, well after we received our food we realized we didn't even have silverware. It seemed like he was the only one working, the bar staff and other wait staff were behind the bar laughing and hanging out and going in and out of the restaurant. But even after this we were willing to give it another chance. It's cool to be nice to your regulars and ignore your other customers I guess.. Today, Father's Day my husband wanted to order food from here, we ordered thru Grub Hub. One of the orders was missing gravy and the hash browns, I called ahead to let the restaurant know the situation and that I'd be coming by to pick up the missing items. The lady that picked up the phone said and I quote and what do you want us to do? I'm glad I brought the food with me because when I got there the lady I spoke to (I wish I got her name) insinuated that I wasn't really missing the hash browns that she packed them up herself and put them in the other box. Then she went to get the missing sides and let me know with an attitude that I really wasn't missing the hashbrowns and but they won't be charging me go it. So I placed an order for almost $60 so I can waste my time driving to the restaurant so I can get an attitude and a half assed apology and get argued with. I've worked in the service industry before, this is unacceptable behavior. I get better service at my local dive bar.. My neighbors order from here frequently, large orders at that since we order for more than 10 people, that's going to stop and I'm never stepping foot in this establishment ever again read more

My husband and I ate here about a month ago. We traveled from OKC to Austin to get a car. It was 9pm and we'd been in the car since 6am and tired. Never heard of this place. I got the almost Cuban sandwich with Mac and cheese and my husband got beef brisket with truffle fries. We also got the burnt ends Brussels sprout appetizer? First impression was amazing. Our waiter was awesome. Very patiently went over the menu as it was our first visit and we were exhausted at this point. We got a couple of drinks. Amazing! My sandwich was the best sandwich I've ever had (now I'm craving it again!) The truffle fries were awesome too. Mac and cheese was okay. I probably wouldn't order again but it's probably bc I liked the fries so much better not bc there was something wrong with them. They make their own pickles. First visit, arrived and waited 15 minutes for someone to come to our table to take our drink order. 20 minutes later we only have water. We ordered drinks from the bar and when the bartender came out from the back she actually picked up the cocktails shakers and sniffed them to determine what she had made in them last and started mixing drinks. Saturday evening and the staff couldn't get their act together, at all. Service was awful, no one paying attention, bad experience all around. The waitstaff needs some customer service training. The bar staff was really slow and seemed inexperienced. They didn't seem to know how to make their own house drinks. If you order the same drink twice, you'll get two different drinks. All the entrees were just the bbq - any sides were extra, and expensive. And for sandwiches, which come with fries, there is a $3 substitution fee. (Really? An extra $3 to substitute cole slaw for fries?) The food was pretty good, but not over-the-top great. Not better than some of the other bbq in the area. Original sauce is amazing. My spouse and I shared a 3 meat plate. We wanted to try alittle of everything. We got ribs, sliced brisket and original slices sausage. Sides we ordered were fried okra, baked potato salad, pablano cream corn, and mac and cheese. I wish I had taken a pic. The food was amazing. All the sides were delicious. The mac and cheese is soo creamy. I WANT that recipe for the baked potato salad. It was warm and wonderful. I added ranch dressing to it and I must say, you have to try it. We both ate and had plenty of left overs for lunch today. Left overs were just as good as last night, even the warm baked potato salad, which we all know how hard it can be to make potatoes taste good when reheated. We will be going back. The food is really great, the atmosphere is good, the drinks are strong and overall it's always an enjoyable experience to dine in or order to go. Dined in on 4/4/2022 to watch the NCAA basketball final, and some staff members had a disagreement in front of everyone. Both staff and customers seemed uncomfortable for a few minutes but the staff recovered, and it was a nice evening besides that. Hopefully in the future those situations can be avoided.
