1st timers: surprised at how busy at 6:30 Friday night. Outstanding bar drinks, service and top 3 steaks I've ever had (charred bone in ribeye-) pricey but ooo so good. Apts good as well. Service was attentive and we'll informed. All staff had masks and most folks entering too which is great to see. However it was crowded and a 'loud' place due to small rooms ( it is in an old Victorian house. I'd go again but request porch dining. Overall nice to see really good food in Cornelius as the town is being overwhelmed with fast food. read more

Excellent service and excellent food! The cocktails are really unique and the decor beautiful! We enjoyed the amazing rack of lamb and scallops. Our only concern about the restaurant was how loud it is inside; with maximizing the indoor space and the beautiful wood floors, the noise level was intense and it was hard to have a conversation at our table. I have visited the restaurants quite a few times now. My favorite part of the restaurant is the bar and the bar staff. They make their drinks an experience. The food has been pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I have always received good service there. I would recommend. read more

Absolutely fantastic restaurant!! Form the moment you are greeted. We opted for the inside, passed the beautiful bar and seated. It was our first time so we got the history of the restaurant, and the plans for decorations. We ordered 2 of the special cocktails, while it took a couple minutes to get, they were completely worth the wait (4-5 min). We were given the specials and reviewed the menu. We went with the chef special which was Chilean sea bass with ginger risotto. Enjoyed the cocktails and dinner arrived it was seriously the best fish I've ever had cooked perfectly, perfect sear, with a rich butter texture. Can not wait to go back! read more

We went to Barrel and Fork for dinner again last night. It was a perfect evening to dine on the porch. We love dining on the porch . They have fans to help stave off the heat and heaters for cold evening dining. The cocktails are professionally prepared and they have an extensive wine list to select from. We started with fried calamari- delicious . They were crisp and flavorful, served with a light dipping sauce . I ordered the braised short rib, served with mash potato and root vegetables, an ideal autumn meal, a hearty portion . I brought some home for another treat. The desserts were delicious and made in house. I have to say that we have been coming to Barrel and Fork since they have opened and are always pleased with the service and meal. Brendan has taken over as manager and has not missed a beat. He is doing an excellent job We had another wonderful experience an look forward to many more. read more

We tried Barrel and Fork for the first time last time night. Things started out nicely with some great wines and fabulous calamari, but that when it ended. We split a Hotel Grand salad that had wilted romaine and a tasteless salad dressing. Then dinner arrived for my wife Chilean Sea Bass her favorite, mine Veal Chop Parmesan. My hot and very tasty, my wife's Sea Bass was tough, cool and just plan terrible. The manage tried to explain that Sea Bass can have some tougher positions, but at $42.00 plate they should be serving the best positions possible. They didn't charge us for the salad or sea bass. Unfortunately we will not be going back to Barrel and Fork which is to bad because we enjoy restaurant's atmosphere and our server was top notch. read more

My husband surprised me at this restaurant for our anniversary and it did not disappoint! The whole vibe inside is relaxing yet elegant and the staff was so nice and accommodating! The bourbon cocktails were so good and I am not even a bourbon drinker and my filet mignon was delicious! The only thing I was bummed about was that they were out of the pecan pie by the time we ordered dessert but the chocolate dessert was delicious! My husband for the crème brûlée cheesecake and it was so good too! Highly recommend this place for an elegant yet casual different restaurant in the lake Norman area. read more

I will start by saying the food was very good, and our server Jamison was very attentive, but unfortunately when you go out, you want a full dining experience. I would recommend that you have a runner for drinks as they took way too long as our appetizers came out before our drinks arrived. And this last point is an important one, the room was extremely warm and as 2 of us checked the thermostat it was at 82, even though it was set at 70. I would highly reccomend looking into the HVAC system, because even though the food was good, we would not be back for that reason that it was uncomfortable and extremely warm. What a welcome change this was! My husband and I had tried this place in 2018 when it was Fork and had been disappointed by the food quality and portion sizes for the price-the only time I'd left a place still hungry. Seeing that it was under new management, we figured we would give it another shot and I'm so glad we did! We went for Sunday brunch and the menu was totally different, we were welcomed with fresh baked banana bread and apple butter, and each of our four entrees was delicious! I highly recommend the chicken and (savory) waffle. Not to mention, this time I got so full I took home leftovers. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and every server was so friendly and helpful. We are really excited to go again for a date night to see if the chef's dinner entrees are as creative and delicious as his brunch! read more

We happened upon this restaurant expecting the old Fork. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. Not that Fork was bad, but that Barrel and Fork was better. The transformation of the Bar area is stunning. The attentiveness was great. We were with visitors from out of town and all were extremely satisfied with the dining experience. We were there for Sunday Brunch and all of our meals were excellent. A couple of bloody Mary's and delicious biscuits made for a before meal tease. The main meals were all presented very well and tasted as good as they looked. On our second visit we were disappointed with the food. My meatloaf dish that was phenominal last time was overcooked. Can't screw up the great side dishes and mashed potatoes. Drinks are good but light. It would take three drinks to even get a buzz. I likely won't go back based on the crowd, noise, and that yelling waiter. Admittedly, its a younger set hooked on atmosphere and experience. Try it at least once. Oh, yeah, the reservation system sucks! Kind of "be here or else" text message! read more

First time at Barrel and Fork and it was a great time. The cocktails are incredible. Tell your server the types of drinks you like and they come up with an excellent concoction. We had the baked brie appetizer. It was very good. My wife had the scallops and they were perfect! I had the rib eye steak and while I enjoyed the char from the grill it was inconsistently cooked. One part was well done and the other was rare. Outside of the misstep on my steak it was a great experience. We will definitely be back! read more

From the moment we stepped out of the car on a rainy evening with a staff member meeting us at the car with an umbrella, to a split of champagne, entrees of in-season soft-shell crab, sea bass, and mahi (with a side of brussels sprouts!) and cheesecake and chocolate mousse for dessert, it was a perfect evening! My mother-in-law even said it was the best birthday dinner she's ever had! Wait staff was excellent and ambience was amazing! And if you need gluten-free options, they are very accommodating. We have been 3 times and seem to always leave underwhelmed. The drinks here are very good, however the food is seriously lacking. The last time we visited Barrel and Fork my scallops came out completely cold in the center...I politely told the waiter....and he brought back burnt scallops. I just kept them at that point. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp scampi and it tasted like noodles in lemon water with red pepper....the sauce was so thin and the dish was so watery. Unfortunately after 3 visits to this restaurant we won't be coming back...which makes me sad because I had such high hopes! read more

We decided to give Barrel and Fork a try for Sunday brunch on our anniversary. We arrived, were greeted by a friendly hostess, and were immediately seated (we had a reservation). Once seated, it took quite some time for our server to greet us. When he did, something seemed off about him , like maybe he was under the influence. He could not tell me what all the bartender puts into a Bloody Mary. I ended up ordering one anyway, and also ordered a decaf coffee. When he returned, he had the cocktail, but coffee was nowhere to be found. My husband ordered a burger with nothing on it except cheese and bacon, medium well. When it came out, the bun had aioli on it so he had to get a new bun. When he bit into the burger, he was disappointed because it was cooked very well done and was dry. I ordered the Roosevelt which is a fried chicken breast on a biscuit with gravy. It was good, but not as flavorful as I would have expected. (The server did bring my decaf coffee once I reminded him, but he had to be asked to bring cream as well). I was disappointed in the lax masking here. I saw two women approach the hostess station maskless and they were not asked to put one on. Patrons sat at tables without masks even when not eating or drinking. Employees wore bandanas as face coverings but unfortunately, research is showing that bandanas are not as effective a face covering as a true mask. There were some positive parts of our experience that I don't want to leave out. The meal started with warm banana bread and apple butter which was delicious. My husbands fries and spicy ketchup were pretty addicting. Also, when the manager found out about my husbands dry burger, he comped it which was greatly appreciated. Totally possible we caught them on an "off" morning -- I'd be willing to give them another try. read more

This establishment is amazing. We made reservations online without a hitch. The general manager greeted us at the door and confirmed our reservations. The drinks, appetizer, all our meals and deserts were beyond 5 star excellent. Our only snafu was while waiting outdoors to be seated we were unsure of how to order a pre-dinner cocktail. Once we were seated our expectations were met and way beyond. We will be coming here often and highly recommend this restaurant. read more
