The food is great, if you read the other reviews...you know that already. But I wanted to say on a whim, I tried some of the fresh juices they are selling and was BLOWN AWAY!! I tried one called Very Berry. This was extremely refreshing. It wasn't thick like a smoothie, but you can tell it was fresh juice (Even had berry slices in it). Next visit I tried the Mango Pineapple...another home run! Don't know how many flavors they have, but it's quite a few. I am on a mission to try them all. Congrats to Barrington's on this one! I waited for many years to try this place despite hearing nothing but good things. I guess I didn't like that it was a drive up booth in the middle of a parking lot. Ordered the oxtails plate and jerk chicken plate, everything was fantastic. Went back a few days later and got jerk chicken again and the curry chicken, the rice and beans didn't taste as fresh as my first trip but was still delicious. Will definitely come back again. I love the customer service. There is always a smile and great conversation at the drive up window. However, the food seems to fall short. I've ordered on a couple of different occasions and have left feeling the same each time. The food lacks flavor!!! I expect fiya flavor when it comes to Jamaican food and unfortunately I got the watered down version. I'll try again in a few months to see if anything changes. I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile now and I'm so glad I finally did. Just as we pulled up to order, Barrington (the owner) greets us and is super friendly and has such a good vibe! I told him it was my first time and he offered to sample some of the items but I already knew by the aroma of the place that whatever I ordered was going to be amazing... And boy was I right! I originally wanted to try the Brown stew chicken and the jerk chicken but we went on a Thursday and the Brown stew chicken is only served Friday, Saturday and Sunday so I had to choose another item so I opted for the curry chicken and jerk chicken. They were so amazing. Each plate comes with sauteed cabbage mix and plantains and rice and beans. Each bite was amazing! Also, it's great that each plate comes with a canned soda or a bottled water. And for the food, I've only had the Aunt Clair Bowl with Jerk Chicken and steamed veggies, rice and beans but it was so delicious!!! The serving size is huge and it comes with a drink for $6!!! That's a deal, the flavor of the chicken was so good mixed with some cabbage and rice, yummmmm!!!! Let me start by saying that I LOVE Jamaican food (Caribbean food in general), so after hearing from friends and family that my hometown had a new Jamaican joint to check out, I did so without hesitation! Highlights of Barrington's Jamaican Kitchen are: -Extremely friendly and pleasant staff!! The owner is awesome and very kind as well as helpful! He makes it a great experience for those who are new to Caribbean food. -The pricing is very reasonable, especially considering he is very generous with his portions. -The food is very tastey, flavorful and filling. -He plays reggae music :-) and the atmosphere of the joint is very welcoming. -Added bonus is; it's Black/Jamaican owned...meaning it's AUTHENTIC. I've tried plenty of Jamaican restaurants and I'd have to say Barrington's is in my top 3. This joint has become one of my staples whenever I am in town visiting my family and friends. So excited to finally try this place since I've been seeing the positive reviews for so long, and I can report that it does live up to the hype! We got the oxtail stew, brown stew chicken, and the jerk chicken. Those three plates fed two adults, a five year (who eats adult sizes portions!), and a baby for two meals. Everyone loved it. The cabbage was my favorite, but that's my kinda thing. Highly recommend! We will definitely be adding this place to our regular rotation. read more

I can't say enough good things about this meal I went thru the drive thru. The employee working was extremely friendly. I ordered the jerk chicken plate and my friend ordered the goat curry. Driving through Bakersfield, you must include this experience! The menu offers so many delicious options. we tried most of them and it was hard to pick a favorite. The goat curry was a personal favorite and the chicken/veggie plates were also savory. Just when we were done, Barrington himself greeted us with a genuine smile asking if we enjoyed our meal. We showered him with compliments and lamented that we didn't get to try the ox tail dish because it was only available on certain days. His personal story and the background on his love of cooking was so charming. Apparently, he decided to pursue his talent after "getting fired" from a dull, soulless job. Well, whoever fired him did all of us a favor. Right before we left, he quietly went to the kitchen and brought us a side of the ox tail dish just so we wouldn't leave wondering what we missed. When we offered to pay, he wouldn't hear about it and insisted we have a safe trip. I am happy to see I'm one of many people who left a glowing review and to know that they were highest ranked locally on Yelp.
