My family stopped here in between our trip to LA after being recommended by my sister. If I go to any Jamaican food spot, I've always gotten curry goat, so I was really excited to be able to try this spot. I loved the sweet plantains that came with the meal, those always hit! The rice was very flavorful as well and perfectly cooked (I'm picky sometimes about the texture). I was very impressed by the goat as well! It was just as good as other places I've had Jamaican food; my only con would be I wish it was a little more tender, but that's just nitpicking. For anyone in the Bakersfield area or traveling from NorCal to Socal, I would recommend stopping here! It's just a small drive-thru in a parking lot, but it hits! The owners are also very sweet.

It's probably fair to compare this to a Panda Express. The food is a bit more unique, but it's the same principle. Pick and choose what you want. Get it served in a to-go container. The food quality and taste is good, but nothing is fresh. It's like eating leftovers from what you made earlier in the day. If you take a look at the kitchen, you'll notice that everything is just constantly being heated to be served at any time. Some of the items are microwaved. This place has a drive through window which makes it easy to pick up food and go. There are maybe two outdoor tables next to the shop which can suck if it's windy. There's no restroom available, so you'll have to go to a nearby restaurant (like the Wienerschnitzel) to wash your hands, etc.

I had heard really good things about Barrington's so i decided to swing by. I was greeted politely and mentioned it was my first time and wanted a recommendation. Barrington himself said to go with the oxtail or jerk chicken so we got both. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to stop what he was doing and speak to me after hearing i was a first time customer. He was genuinely curious and friendly which made it all the easier speaking to him. The oxtail was so good i had to call the restaurant back and say thank you. 10/10. Will be returning frequently.

Wanted to try jerk chicken for the first time with my daughter. We ordered the jerk chicken and veggie plate. The plate came with the jerk chicken, rice and beans, cabbage &carrots, and plantains. The jerk chicken was juicy, well seasoned, and delicious! The rice and beans were a nice compliment to the chicken. The plantains were fried to perfection! The cabbage and carrots were flavorful. The veggie plate had everything the jerk chicken plate except the chicken. The server at the window was very kind! Food was prepared quickly! The price of food was VERY reasonably priced! Lots of food! Will be making multiple future trips!

I was greeted with a smile and I let him know it was my first time visiting this place and he asked how did I hear about his establishment and I replied with I had a yelp event I attended where a lot of people where talking about the food and he smiled really big and suggested I get the jerk chicken and the curry chicken so I did. I absolutely feel in love with the chicken curry. It is so good. The rice is cooked perfectly, the bananas and the vegetables were too, and the flavor was so amazing, but omg, the curry flavor is just so good. The jerk chicken was also good, but for me, the winner was the curry. I will definitely be visiting this spot again.

I have been dying to give this place a try but it is far away from me and every time I'm on that side of town, I'm either full or busy. Well my prayers were answered when I attended this years Village Fest! After a few (ok maybe 13 shots) of beer, I rounded the corner and spotted the longest line I'd seen all day. I figured it was for another shot of beer but when I went to the front of the line I was surprised to see the restaurant name I'd been eyeballing for about a year! I quickly ran to the end of the line and waited to get my small bowl of peas and rice, fried cabbage, jerk chicken, and plantains. The rice and peas and cabbage were kind of bland, but the jerk chicken and plantains were AMAZING!!! I can't wait to get a plate full of food when I finally visit!

What a find in Bakersfield! My friends and I were on our way back to OC from Sequioa and were looking on Yelp for a good local spot in Bakersfield but we didn't expect to find this gem! You know the food's gonna be good when it's served out of a random small shack in front of a dollar store lol. They're offering drive-thru only for COVID-19 and they do NOT take phone orders. You'll have your food in a matter of minutes though when you get there! Try to go on the weekend (Fri,Sat,Sun) for the oxtail. We had the jerk chicken, goat curry, and oxtail. Oxtail was easily the best followed by goat curry and then the jerk chicken. But everything was awesome! Incredibly nice workers as well. read more

Ok I tried this spot 3 times just to make sure I'm not tripping... I did not like the taste the flavor was more like a vegan Rasta flavor... I've eaten authentic Jamaican food in Jamaica and other restaurants in LA... so I'm highly disappointed of the taste here... I wish I could get some ackee and salt fish with some dumpling, or some festival, the curry chicken Doesn't taste like curry, oxtails it's a no... i really dont want to give a bad review but this is simply my opinion of taste. I just wish you could get some legit Jamaican seasoning I think this is the main thing. Not sure how your cooking it also. Its really taste like an American trying to cook Jamaican food read more

I am so glad I stopped by this restaurant. It is a small place where you can park, walk over and order through a window on one side or you have the option to drive through on the other. Such amazing service, It was my first time here and loved it . I ordered jerk chicken and Oxtail . The Plate included rice, a side of steamed cabbage and fried plantains. Don't let this tiny drive through restaurant fool you! This place is the bomb. Located in the shopping center, in the middle of the parking lot, on Stine and Ming, this tiny brightly colored gem is packed with flavor, authenticity, and friendly service. The price for some may seem high but the food is home made and the large portions are generous. We ordered the goat and curry chicken, yes goat at this tiny place! The flavor was through and through, even in the bones (literally). There are a couple of seats next to the place and a walk up window but they make take out easy without even having to get out of your car! If you want authentic, flavorful Jamaican food, this is it. read more

I have been wanting to try this place every time I come in town but for one reason or the other I haven't been able too. However we finally gave it a try yesterday for dinner and I have got to say it was more delicious than I imagined. The wait time was sooooo long literally an hour at first I was annoyed because I was starving, but it was totally worth the wait. Amazing all the way around. First time trying Jamaican food. The gentleman that helped us told us of the most popular menu items. I said which one should I go with, and he responded by saying "how about you go half and half, and try both." Very accommodating. You have to give this place a try. Finally got around to trying Barrington's out. We got the jerk chicken and goat curry. Both were good, but the goat curry was the best. We were suppose to be sharing, but I couldn't put the goat curry down. Besides having great food, the owner, Barrington was so friendly and a pleasure to do business with. With all the craziness and negativity going on, it was so nice to talk to a positive person. We can't wait to go back on a weekend to try the oxtails, but I will have to get the goat curry again too. Born in Morant Bay, Jamaica, Barrington Anthony Lewis learned to cook by watching others. His stepmother, Miss Letty, expected dinner ready by evening, and he learned how to deliver. In school, he improved his cooking skills in programs like the Jamaican Boy Scouts and Combined Cadet Force. Now, he's turning his passion into his profession. Barrington's Jamaican Kitchen is a place where you can get to know the owner as easily as you'll fall in love with his food. Barrington's focus is on people: the stories they tell and the influence he can have on their lives. I really like the jerk sauce on the chicken, but the chicken itself was just a slow cooked breast without much flavor or texture. The arepas were just cornmeal and cheese, without any of the other ingredients I've usually seen in the past (although they did come with a tasty green salsa). I think my favorite item was the salt and pepper shrimp, which had a really good flavor. Plantains and beans are also delicious. There were a few other dishes we wanted to try, such as the ceviche, but unfortunately they were out of it that night. I would come back again to try some other dishes in the future.

The Main Event: This time around, I went with the En Fuego Burger. This beast is loaded with a chile-spiced beef patty, pepperjack, sharp cheddar, thick-cut bacon, chipotle mayo, pepper relish, pickled jalapeños, and a mountain of fried jalapeños + onion strings. The Flavor Profile: This burger delivers on every level, but those fried onion strings were to die for. For the side, I got the sweet potato fries, which are served as big, thick-cut wedges. They come paired with a duo of spicy ketchup and a marshmallow dipping sauce. Switching between the two was amazing, the marshmallow sauce actually makes the fries feel like a dessert. The Drink: To wash it all down, I ordered the basil lemonade, and omg, I need to figure out how to recreate this at home. Overall, the food felt subpar compared to what I've come to expect from Moo Creamery. The restaurant itself was also surprisingly loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. It was hard to get our waitress's attention throughout the meal, and service felt disjointed. The most disappointing moment came when we noticed my son's chicken strips and fries sitting on the counter for 13 minutes before they were finally brought to our table. By then, it was difficult not to question whether the food was still as fresh and hot as it should have been. We came in excited to experience the new location, but between the noisy atmosphere, inattentive service, and food that didn't live up to Moo Creamery's usual standards, we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, I probably won't be returning. It's hard to justify giving it another try when there are so many other restaurants in town that consistently deliver quality food, service, and a better overall dining experience.

I purchased the Jamaican Jerk Chicken plate, the food was very good, the chicken was tender and spiced perfectly, the rice and beans went really well with the chicken as did the cabbage and the plantains. The food was prepared fairly quickly and the service was excellent, the owner is very friendly and personable. And the portion size was very generous for only $10. Holy cow! This place is AMAZING. I am kind of a prude when it comes to eating out and I was taken aback by the look of the restaurant as it is a hole-in-the-wall.
