Great food. I have a high bar for Mexican food. Came on the strong recommendation of a friend. It was 3pm on a Monday, so thought we'd walk right in, given the large number of empty tables. But, it was going to be a 30 minute wait. I imagine they have the same staffing challenges as everyone else. So, we ate at the bar, which allowed us to skip the wait for the table. Everything was excellent. I had a New Mexico style dish, which is a rare find in SoCal Mexican food. Encourage people to go out of their way to try this gem of a restaurant. read more

I went to this restaurant last night for taco Tuesday. The server was awesome and very fast. They had ventilation through the open patio that led into dinning area. Every one was masked and social distanced so felt fairly safe. I am not giving it more stars as the bill was alot higher then what i think we should have paid. We ordered two plates of tacos(three street tacos each) two drinks and a kids dish. Ending up paying over 70$. I could have gone somewhere alot more fancy for that price. Prob wont go again unless to get a drink. read more

We had an outstanding meal tonight at Barrio Queen with Raquel as our server. She was helpful and made it a point to come by and ask about second rounds before happy hour was over. Chips and salsa were excellent-a true sign of great good. Food was high quality and we had a variety of enchiladas, tacos, burritos and nachos. The flan for dessert was a perfect end to a great meal. Ordered chili relleno and it was terrible. No flavor, no cheese, just a bunch of unsalted, overcooked vegetables. Got additional shrimp for $8, which it came with three small, overcooked shrimp. All in all, worst food experience I've had in Phoenix. Good service though and the place looks nice inside and out. read more

Had the best Guacamole I have ever had in 40 years in the southwest here. Hand made at your table. It was like I never had real Guacamole, in the past, after tasting this. Chunky style, including pomegranate kernels. Pork green chili burro was sublime. Zippy sauce with super tender and succulent pork. Salsa was fresh and delicious. Refried beans were just okay. I was previously told that this was not a good choice for Mexican food. I like to form my own opinions, so I gave them a go. Complete waste of money, black beans crunchy and al dente! Sauce Flavorless and runny. Obnoxious servers, with little knowledge of customer service. Usually when ordering Margaritas you are asked if you want a salt rim. To salty and no offer to remake the drink or remove the charge. Enchiladas were thick with absolutely nothing special or to write home about. Remember you are in ARIZONA and when it comes to this cuisine there are many more excellent choices and options. Pass this one by!!! read more

Went in on a Saturday afternoon. Place was busy our server was busy working a table of 12 or more he needed assistance to say the least. The manager was standing around and and should have helped. The food was horrible I ordered the seafood enchiladas. They tasted like the ocean. The server was understanding and replaced it. The table side quac was definitely not worth the cost. The best margarita I've had in a long time! I had the jalapeño margarita and my boyfriend had the skinny (both amazing)! We also enjoyed some chips and salsa and elote, that were also delicious! One of the employees was very knowledgable about al the menu items that contained gluten and I am thankful he was helping us out! Love this place. The unlimited chips and salsa tastes amazing, and our waiter gave us refills as soon as we were finished, unlike many other restaurants with chips and salsa. The guacamole is also spot on. The pomegranate seeds add a much needed sour kick. My Al pastor tacos tasted great and I have no complaints. I'm not from here, but Barrio Queen is high on my list for when I return. read more

First of all- coolest atmosphere hands down. Every inch of that building (inside and out) is beautiful! But absolutely the best mexican food and cocktails I've ever had here in Arizona. I LITERALLY cannot stop eating their ceviche. HUGE fan. And big thanks to Cody the manager! So sweet and welcoming. He is also VERY knowledgeable about tequila! This was our first time here and what a wonderful experience we had. Decor was very attractive, very clean and they have a full bar. Complementary home made chips and salsa are promptly served. Our waiter Jason did a fantastic job. Menu had many options but not overwhelming. Prices are decent ex: 3 large tacos for $12 mix/match. If you like Peligrino spring water, they have it in 2 sizes! I had the carna sada enchiladas with mixed vegies and charro beans that were the best I've ever had! My wife had the sea bass cooked to perfection, lite with a crisp outside. For desert we had the caramel filled churros and they were decadent with a big scoop of ice cream. Needless to say we are lifetime loyal customers now! Everything I've had from Barrio Queen has been great. My only complaint is that the chips are always so greasy and packaging them in a cling film bag doesn't help. Should be in a paper bag to help absorb the grease after they've been fried. read more

They are serving frozen/re-heated enchiladas and can't even heat them up properly. Disgusting and considering how expensive this place is you'd think you would get fresh food.
