Lived in the area more than 15 years, and have always been wanting to try Barros. For some reason I think of them as old school from the 80's when pizza crust was flavorful and toppings were plenty. Well don't know if I have ever visited Barros, but glad we finally did. Oh that crust, it's tasty, has that right chewiness and let's the flavor of the toppings pop on to your taste buds. Chose the Meat Supreme and it was a hit. You will need a plate as the bacon crumbles tend to slide off a bit. The Buffalo Wings are medium sized, Not too small. I was told COVID pandemic impacted availability and they are beginning to get better products. The wing are great fresh and hot and guess what, they are good the next day after a quick microwave session. The place doesn't have much seating, and right now looks like indoor seating is not available. Hopefully in the future they get to open up the dinning room. Unlike many of the chain stores with overly drenched oil. This place uses fresh ingredients and the dough is top notch. Very soft and chewy dough. And the crust is a delight to eat. So often the crusts are overlooked. Being a self proclaimed pizza addict, I highly recommend this place. The pizza is very satisfying. Owner was friendly. Greets you with friendly and courteous customer service. This is my go to place now for pizza. And what's even better is the fact that when you refrigerate it and reheat it in a few days, still tastes great ! I've lived in Whittier for 18 years and been going to the other popular Whittier pizza place Pizzamania as my go-to pizza spot. Since the quality starting going down, I ventured out and tried Barro's and was delightfully surprised of their good pie. Ordered the basic pepperoni and my family liked it. Nice thick crust, good tasting ingredients and priced right. This is my new Whittier pizza spot. I look forward to trying other things on their menu soon. The owner, George 'I am the King of Pizza' Tibbetts has followed the Barro's family recipe for pizzas, sandwiches and great Sicilian cuisine since 1980 when he took over the business. Barro's Pizza prides itself in using only quality and the freshest of ingredients to prepare all its food. Pizzas are made with 100% mozzarella cheese and the dough is made fresh daily. The meatballs come from a famous deli in Chicago. You will see and taste the quality. The meat toppings are moist and prefectly seasoned, not oily and overly salted to perserve its flavor. The sauce has the taste of fresh tomatoes, not out of a can. The cheese is chewy and the crust is airy light and flavorful. There is nothing remotely unique about the pizzas nor will the taste be mind-blowing by any means. They are just pizzas done right, the old-fashion way prepared with quality ingredients and care.
