Very disappointed. The breakfasts may be good but the sandwiches are extremely disappointing for the price. My husband had a very good Reuben but made the mistake of ordering onion rings which were an upgrade bringing the cost of this modest meal to almost $12. I had a fairly overcooked Mom size burger- all of 5 ozs of beef for $7.50 with the tiniest amount of cole slaw. Ordering just these things, some hot tea and a small beer, with tip the lunch came to almost $32.00 for 2 people. Never go there again. read more

This morning, my friends and I met up for breakfast at Barry's Cafe to celebrate one of our birthdays. None of us live in the same city, so getting to all be together is always such a treat! Our experience at Barry's Cafe started off great. The food, coffee, and wait service was good, and overall we had a wonderful time sharing a meal together and catching up on each other's lives. It wasn't until we were done eating that our experience took a negative turn-fast! Mid-conversation we were abruptly interrupted by the manager(?). She told us if we did not need anything else, there were 15 people waiting to be seated. Feeling as if we had just been kicked out of the restaurant, we packed up our things and left. On our way out of the restaurant we passed at least 5 open tables- I was too shocked by our experience to count beyond that. The fifteen people waiting to be seated were then taken to the opposite side of the restaurant from where we were eating, and we had to finish our birthday celebration standing out by our cars. I am thankful for my time spent with my precious friends, but I will not return to Barry's Cafe. read more

Barry's has become our weekly breakfast staple. The food is awesome and fresh. The owner and others working there are so friendly and kind. The history of the place is wonderful as well. I have visited Barry's Cafe a few times, and was pleased with the service and food. HOWEVER, the last time I was there, I was with an in-law, and for some reason, we waited for close to 90 minutes. Amazingly we watched other tables come, eat, and go, but still we were not served. Could it be because there was a non-white in our party? Seems to be the only reason I can think of. Our waitress brought us coffee and took our order, but then for the next hour and a half, failed to stop by and check on us, or give us an update on our food. She would just walk on by and service others. We finally got up, and went to the counter to pay for our coffees. The waitress didn't even try and give us a reason or encourage us to stay. All she said was "I'm sorry" and when I asked for a reason, she said that there was a new cook in back. REALLY? Didn't seem to effect the service of any other customers. I am very disappointed and will not return. Blatant discrimination. Blatant racism. UNBELIEVABLE! read more

If there is another place for breakfast then Barry's, I don't know where it is. My family and I was blown away. If you want a big breakfast for a great price go to Barry's. Great clean place and the service is outstanding. This was my first time. Just went back again and had the Mama's Burger Breakfast with a hamburger patty with cheese, grits and eggs. They let me turn it into a burger with the fixins and that patty was awesome. It wasn't dry or thin but thick and juicy. I put my egg on it and it was wonderful! I have had the pancakes which are bigger than the plate and flavor is too good. Omelette was wonderful. I am going to try some different stuff everytime I go back. I really love this place and everyone that has come with me say the same thing. I really like how they cater to the firefighters, law enforcement, and anyone in service. They know they work hard and need good food so they serve them well. Not just them but all their customers. Wonderful place to try! read more

Went for breakfast this morning and it was yummy. I am big on customer service and it was annoying to be handed a menu at the door then pointed to a table. Not even walked there Lol. My friend and I were totally confused. Food was great but the staff just lacked customer service. They came to check on us twice and we were there for over an hour. It was a little frustrating but the food is good and if you don't mind waiting for assistance every 30 mins even better. read more

I would have never thought to try this place if I hadn't been looking for somewhere new to try online. We've been in that shopping center countless times, but never in Barry's Cafe until a couple weeks ago. The first time we tried to go, it was a Sunday morning and the place was overflowing with people, so we decided not to play the waiting game with our little one and try again during less popular hours. On a Saturday around 3, proved to be a success. There was a handful of people, but far from the initial mad house. Going into it not really expecting much more than the standard fare of a non-niche place, we were pleasantly surprised. The crowded decor dedicated to local firefighters and fire houses was unique, and certainly gives you something fun to look at while you wait! Between the three of us, we tried one of the burgers, the breakfast burrito, and the grilled cheese. All of it was so good, and exceeded our expectations. The server's were all so warm and receptive. You could tell who the regulars were, and who the newcomer's were, and the staff treated both just as friendly. Despite being the first time there, it felt like we could have been going for years, it was refreshing to have servers that didn't seem like they hated their job! Oh, and the cookies at the end of our meal, was the perfect touch. And they are to die for! We can easily see this becoming a new regular place for us, and can't wait to try something else from the menu next time! read more

Amazing brunch!! Great service, great food, literally couldn't ask for anything better! The biscuits and gravy are HUGE (a "full" serving is two enormous biscuits slathered in sausage gravy) and absolutely amazing. The blueberry pancakes are loaded with blueberries and are deliciously light and fluffy. Omelettes are great and spilling with cheese and other toppings. The breakfast potatoes have a nice spice to them (to be clear, they're not "hash browns" - just cubed, baked (?) potatoes with lots of seasonings. The bacon is also well-cooked - not too crispy, just perfect! And the prices can't be beat! read more

The past reviews you read about getting small portions of food for the prices they charge are correct. My omelet looked like I ordered it off the kid's menu, and it was barely filled with any sausage or cheese. It was so small that I was still hungry after breakfast. Past reviews about these people being really rude are also correct. The last time we went I told my waitress that I was skeptical about getting the breakfast potatoes because they had been overcooked on the last visit. Her reply was that they "do not overcook the potatoes." Whatever. I ordered grits to avoid it happening again. Of course, the grits were plain and uneventful. I later tried to again explain my experience with the potatoes I received during the previous visit, saying that they were really brown and that I was not able to even chew most of them. Her reply this time was a bunch of, "Mmmhhhhs and ahas." Obviously, I had insulted the restaurant and the cooks and no apology was necessary...lol. (I wish Robert Irvine would have been there, as he would have been all over it.) After that, our server pretty much ignored us, and we had to flag her down for anything else that we needed. Our server was the older crabby lady, so I suggest you ask for someone else to help you if you do decide to go to this sorry excuse for a dining establisment. However, it is a high likelihood that you'll get her as a server and that she left her crabby pills at home. Therefore, if I were you, I'd just go elsewhere. (Not great food and terrible customer service. I hope they are replaced with something far greater soon.) read more

We came to Barry's expecting it to be a fun and happy environment for our breakfast. We waited our turn for 10-15 minutes and sat down to eat. After ordering water and waiting for it to come to the table I was so happy when I saw the ice cubes floating around in what looked like the perfect drink. I took a huge gulp to satisfy my thirst and what did I taste? Was it lemonade? Coke? Maybe even a mixture of both because it tasted so disgusting! I flagged down the waitress and asked what she put in the water thinking maybe they squeeze fresh lemon into it or something like that but not only was she irritated that I asked the question she didn't even ask if I wanted something different to drink. I asked "is there lemon in here or something?" And she said "uhh I don't know, probably?" And kept walking past the table while words were still falling out of my mouth. She didn't know if she put lemon in it? What could she have been doing while filling up my drink cup that she didn't know if she put lemon in it or not. This wasn't even the worst part. After ordering and waiting for our food we finally saw it pop into the window we were sitting right next to! My son was very excited and asked "is that our food?!" And as she rolled her eyes and replied "yes can you see I'm getting it?" She walked over to one of her co-workers and started talking loudly enough for us to hear her about how impatient and annoying we were. When the food landed in front of me I took a bite of my eggs- one of my favorite breakfast foods. They didn't taste like eggs at all. It was some sort of gross burnt syrup type taste with a tang of burnt hash browns. Almost immediately after we left I started feeling very ill, along with my son and his friend. I got home and started throwing up uncontrollably. I called later to let them know the situation and low and behold, they didn't believe me. The breakfast at Barry's was all I'd had since dinner the night before (maybe around 5 pm) which I had cooked and prepared myself and used all fresh ingredients that I usually use and didn't feel ill at all. I asked to speak to a manager and after bouncing me around on the phone to multiple different people the lady told me it was hard for her to believe me because eggs couldn't ever get people sick. I laughed because I'm a nurse and see food borne illnesses every day, salmonella is one of grossest cases and guess where that comes from... Eggs. I got so annoyed I hung up on her and called back and asked for the owner. The woman "connected" me to a phone that was never answered after 15 minutes of waiting. I can easily say I will NEVER be back or ever recommend Barry's cafe to anyone. read more
