I have always loved Barry's! From the first year it opened, was one of our first date places to go so it holds a special place. I do miss the original location, was so quaint and charming. The new location is fine but parking is difficult at times. The biggest drawback is the lack of seating and cleanliness. Its beyond awkward trying to order, figure out the line, people having to cut across the line just to get their food and all this while bumping into people that are actually seated. Had someone with fluffy long hair standing by our table and it was very uncomfortable to say the least. Not their fault, it's just the way it goes. Tables left dirty, bins overflowing, napkins and food on ground. Clearly people cant even pick up after themselves :/ The back of the restaurant, display case were all clean though and it felt well taken care of food wise. Staff was great- very friendly and as quickly as they could, got food and beverages out. The food is excellent- everytime we have been there. I just wish they'd rework the tables and layout- give it some style and charm and have a better flow overall. It was even difficult to exit! Have been going to this place for about 9 months and I look forward to going there everytime! Right as you walk in the door, you're greeted by delicious smells of pastrami and coffee along with smiling faces and welcomes. My favorite is an untoasted tuna melt with added bacon, pickles, mustard, cinis, and red onion with a side of hungarian mushroom soup but I love everything on the menu! I'm obsessed with ducks. I love their cookies shaped like ducks (quack quack). Other than the food, the staff is what makes the experience. The blonde one is very pretty and i love her new haircut (it's shorter!). Had to find this place when I heard about some of their bakery items and I'm so glad I did. The café at lait with oat milk was strong and smooth, one of the best in town. Got a walnut rugelach and some challah buns, both were divine and I want to make this 20 min drive again soon! read more

Eggshells in the egg salad. Not pleasant. Sloppy, sloppy, people! Also on the egg salad-at least use some seasoning, maybe a little salt/pepper? And maybe not so much mayo? I had to doctor it up to make it worth eating. And then there's the eggshell issue, I mean... That said, the cinnamon rugelach is wonderful- flaky pastry, just enough cinnamon. I have wanted to check this place out for a long time. Curb appeal isn't as inviting as the pastry case and friendly service inside! Omigoodness! I am from the east coast and it was hard to choose from all the absolutely right bakery items. We went there for breakfast two days in a row. The coffee is amazing. I had the challah roll with cream cheese and my boyfriend had the egg sandwich...both days. Oh yeah, we also bought cookies and rugelach which we didn't need, absolutely loved. This spot gets five stars because the baked goods, the breakfast sandwiches, and the coffee are quality, delicious stuff! I did have a latte made once that I took back and had her remake because it wasn't properly foamed and tasted like milk instead of coffee, however, she was really gracious and re made it for me and added extra espresso at no charge. So I Will say the quality of your drink depends on your barista. The coffee beans that they use are good though. Honestly, you just have to know how to order your drink. I recommend the Knish, the breakfast sandwich made on Challah, and the cinnamon twist. The interior is 1990's dated, mildly cluttered, and I don't like the lighting at Barry's but this is a great example of how all of that is obsolete because the food is just well done and damn good. read more

A true find for someone like me for who supermarket bagels don't cut it and likes bialys. The wait time and line was a bit slow but we'll worth it. The sandwiches are hearty with quality fillings and the baked goods are fresh and delicious. We got our orders to go, but here we're plenty of people dining in with some limited indoor seating and at a few tables and chairs on an outside patio. They also have a full coffee bar and a variety of breakfast items. Can't wait to try the matzo ball soup next time. read more

I really did not go here expecting to be impressed. It's unassuming signage and being tucked away in a strip mall surrounded by mostly hairdressers doesn't make it seem like the kind of place you'd write a five star review of. But the food here is absolutely amazing. I have been here about a half dozen times and every time I have been more than satisfied with whatever I got. And while there may be a disconnect between the ambiance of this particular strip mall and the high quality of the food, there is no such disconnect with the prices. As much as I want to give them credit for having some sort of Jewish food this far into nowhere, the bialys and rugelach both just weren't quite right. The rugelach were too crunchy and sweet, without the characteristic give to the dough, and the filling overwhelmed the rest of the flavor. The bialys had too much garlic rather than onion, and the balance of dough to filling just seemed off. So Barry's has an attitude. I have been told this. So I go in yesterday and I was basically ignored, pushed physically by a non masker who seemed to work there, ignored while the one cashier chatted, and the pushy one cleaned, and I waited. Nicely and patiently. My order was simple, but wrong, so I waited some more. I moved from California to Oregon and I grew up at Canters and Nate N Als, so I know attitude. I did not come to this little hole in the wall place in Oregon to be treated like a turd underfoot, or lack of service by two nobodies from nowhere. Needless to say, I will take my deli dollars elsewhere from now on. The 3 stars is for the food. To be fair. And they made a sweet old man go to the counter and pick up his own food. It's hustling and bustling without being distracting. I even sent a few of their lemon ladyfingers in a care package to my aunt and 93-year-old grandma. She is the best cookie baker in the world and even she approved, which she hardly ever does with other cookies. I've hard their cheesecake too, as a bday present to myself. I love Barry's so very much! The food is pure comfort food, you feel respectfully full and satisfied after every meal. I love their breakfast rolls, I always get an egg and cheese with tomato on the challah roll which takes deliciousness to a whole new level. Their challah rolls are delicious. I also love their pastries/baked goods, especially their blueberry coffee cake Cheeesecake it's wonderful. The staff/people that work there are so nice and helpful even during a rush. Weekends are crazed but I risk it because it's too good I can't stay away! The atmosphere is comfortable and it's toasty in the winter. I don't like that the bathroom is outside and around the corner but it's not too bothersome as I never usually need to use it. I will be a long time customer! read more

I'm always sure I'm going to die after half a slice of Barry's (intensely rich and dense) cafe au lait cheesecake, and yet I keep coming back and gorging myself on more. I'm not sure why. I think it's because I'm a masochist, or a glutton, or both. The same sentiment goes for the black & white cookie, and the chocolate-dipped macaroon, and the lemon frosting-slathered almond poppyseed cake. They're all as divine (for the first couple bites) as they are stomach-destroying. On days when I don't feel like passing out right after breakfast, I order a small bowl of matzo ball soup, and enjoy how fluffy the matzo balls are, how light and comforting the soup is. And then, because I enjoy it so much, I wish the soup came in a larger bowl, so I could eat matzo balls 'til I had the portly proportions of one. This place is worth your time and money. Excellent menu options with down to earth prices. The staff was really moving, taking counter orders and phone orders with courtesy and swiftness, keeping the line moving even at lunch. The food was delicious, the coffee was better than most and the overall operation is quite well oiled. Try the challah if you are not sure what to get, it's darn good. Ridiculously good. The two women working this morning were pleasant, quick and friendly, as always. There is truly no other unique Jewish style deli like Barry's. My favorite to soak up a hangover: Barry's special. It's really life changing. Every ingredient serves it purpose. Try it: trust me. The lavender latte is also insanely good. I ordered the breakfast special and matzo ball soup via gh and my goodness, what a treat! First of all, breakfast sandwich was hot when it arrived. Egg was fluffy and bread was so so soft. I didn't really like the matzo ball soup as much but it's probably because I've never had it and have not build up the taste. Overall, food was fresh, simple and clean.
