I haven't been to Bartaco in a while and the menu had changed. I came by myself and Andre G., my server ...he was excellent! He helped me pick some yummy stuff on the menu and I really enjoyed the pork belly, crispy rock shrimp and duck tacos...let's not forget his recommendation of the corn fritters to start...these are new and so yummy and fresh!!! Came here on father's day early afternoon like 1 or 2pm.... There was no wait and it wasn't too busy... Hostess sat us immediately.... Our server came right to us when we sat down and explained the ordering process.... He was very friendly.... I ordered the ribeye bowl... Corn on the Cobb and fried oyster taco... My boyfriend ordered assortment of tacos.... The wait for the food was a little long... But the manager and our server kept us informed and gave us complimentary chips and salsa and ended it with complimentary dessert.... Our server was wonderful and so was management... This place seems to be poppin for an after work drink and snack/dinner. It was a little awkward finding it since there's not a sign off the road showing where it's at. The sign faces the parking lot. I didn't see it until I turned where I "thought" it should be. We sat at the bar top. Around 730 this place was packed at the bar top like it was a Saturday night somewhere. When you order, it similar to sushi. You put a check or number by the items u want, and then put on the little clip for the server to come By and grab. Service was a little slow at the bar, but the bartender was nice and friendly and was making some strong margaritas. Food: it's tasty here. The portions are helllaaaa small. I've had bigger tapas. The tacos are tiny. What's good to eat? Fish, or chicken tacos, pork tamal, cerviche( ask for no avocado if you aren't a fan. It comes with an awkwardly glob underneath the cerviche.) cerviche is a tiny portion as well. The corn and pineapple are great as well. Prices are okay. Parking: there's a huge parking lot in front. However, there are a lot of surrounding business across the street and in the plaza. Parking was hard to find when we first got here. read more

**Update: I have been back to this location a couple time since my last review. Service is back to what it was when I first began visiting! The food has always been delicious. Yay! I first visited this location last year & liked the food so much that I was there at least 2-3 days of the week. Some days twice a day. I tend to overdo things when I really like them. Lately, I have had a couple of mishaps with my to go orders, food not being prepared as I requested or things missing from the order. The last couple times I went in to sit at the bar to order food it took a really long time for anyone to even greet me. That was a big turn off for me. One of the reasons I used to visit this place was because of the exceptional customer service. Not anymore. I literally sat at the bar yesterday for a few minutes. The guys behind the bar see me, make eye contact but never spoke to me. Not even a simple I'll be with you shortly. A guy finally walks over says hello & brought a glass of water. I asked about a taco & told him I would only need about 2 minutes to fill out the order sheet. Five minutes passed, then about 10, then another 5. I am looking at servers including the guys behind the bar, making eye contact & not one of them says a word or takes my order. I finally hoped up & walked over to the to go area since it was taking so long to place an order to eat at the bar. All of a sudden, every server in the restaurant walks over to me to ask if I had been helped. Ha ha. I placed a to go order & left. Oh what a cute little date place I have stumbled upon! I went last week for a date night with my boyfriend and we were beyond impressed. All of the decor screams beach.. the garage was open and plenty of natural light was streaming in. The salsa roja was delicious and the chips were unique! Don't be afraid to ask for me, as the serving size is small! The tacos... AMAZING! We tried the fish, chicken, pork carnitas, and duck tacos and were not let down by any of them. All very tasty and seasoned well. While I do think the drinks are a bit overpriced, I do think the rest of the menu is very reasonable and you can get out of there for around $40 for 2 people! First timer, I gave them a four star because the food was good but there was no "wow" experience. The setup is you order at the table on a pad of paper and place a flag on your table anytime you need service. All the food is tapas style, build your own meal, with the exception of rice bowls. The menu choices are limited and we tried a wide variety of what they offer. The order to serve time was about 25 minutes and since all the dishes are build your own, the plates piled up quick on the smaller than average tables (party of four). All the food was very good. There is a full bar, but the beer is can or bottled only. I would recommend but beware this is not your transitional Mexican experience. read more

I've been to a couple Bartaco locations throughout Atlanta in Inman Park and Midtown and this location has been my favorite experience. Each time I have enjoyed the margaritas because I know it will be fresh, but the food at this location was better in my opinion. The primary difference that I wish I would have known about and could have made me enjoy my previous experiences more are the taco trays. It's a game changer. For less than $40 you get 9 tacos, chips and guac, and two large sides. I was here with three people and it was plenty to split between everyone. I recommend allowing the chef to choose because they are going to choose what is freshest ingredients for your tacos and you honestly can't go wrong with any of them. The only con was having to pay $5 for parking on a Friday night even though the location is in the middle of a shopping center. I guess that's buckhead though... read more

I've been here twice and this place still blows me away. I am personally a fan of the pork belly taco. They had a fish one that was pretty good too. The chips and guac are also really good but you may need to ask for more chips since they don't always supply enough to finish the guac. They have a great draft selection but I think they need to work on their mixed drinks a little. My wife ordered something that didn't taste that good but they switched it out with no fuss. read more

Waited 30min. Tacos were tiny and were not fresh/warm. Was told they were understaffed but see two waiters talking in a booth not helping serve. Still didn't get our chips and dip till the tacos were eaten. Had to ask to be served water. There is a little card you put on a standee to signal if you need anything but it took 20min to get noticed by a staff member. Overall a mess of a restaurant. I went with a party of 3 on Friday around 8pm. We only had to wait about 15 min to get a table. This was this first time I have ever been here and the experience was really enjoyable. The waitress we had was extremely nice and always came back to our table to make sure everything was okay. The food was a bit different and I sorta enjoyed it. The chicken taco fell apart before I could even get it to my mouth and the Tuna taco had to much balsamic vinegar on it. I've been trying lots of taco places and I almost thought I'm not just not a taco person... until bartaco! They're awesome! We tried multiple tacos and other items here and no matter what you get, you can't go wrong. The sesame ribeye taco tastes Korean-ish. The banh mi shrimp one has a little spice, but not too much, and it tastes awesome. The fried oyster one is great! And the pork belly one hits the spot! The ceviche is also amazing. And the cheese quesidilla is simple, but also amazing. Our server, I think his name was Gabriel, was really great even though we had a huge party! Their guacamole is one of the best. I would prefer chips, but it still tastes good with tostada shells. Their drinks taste really good too. We got margaritas and mojitos. The atmosphere is the best in that little part of Buckhead too. Highly recommended. There is definitely a wait though, so either make reservations (and even then come a little early) or have someone come early for you. Even the bar fills up quickly. read more

I had one of the best times a couple of Fridays ago at this place. The server was phenomenal and I hate that I can't remember his name. He was training another server and was a great example and teacher. This location is unassuming and in a strip mall but is filled with plenty of character. The management was wonderful. Special shoutout to "Craig." He took great care of hubby and I in making sure we got to try plenty of good items. We started with the stewed beans which were mediocre. The chips and salsa verde were along the same lines. Hubby was a big fan of the sesame ribeye taco. It was delectable indeed. Our favorite was the pork belly taco. It scared me at first but I ended up getting seconds. I also loved the baja fish taco. I found the curry shrimp and the spicy chorizo tacos to be average. The mahi mahi taco was tasty. We fell in love with the chocolate ice cream and the mint chocolate chip ice cream which came with a yummy waffle cone. The outdoor set-up looked inviting and we wanna sit out there while the weather is still nice. I found Bartaco to really live up to the hype. read more

I had the tacos at the Westside location so I was excited to try the bowls, which my friends had bragged about. After ordering and while waiting, the manager informed us there was no more rice. None. And making more will take a long time. A. Really. Long. Long. Time. My friend is gluten free and wanted to wait for her bowl. And made that clear. But the manager kept insisting that she order something else. Ok so thank you for telling us and giving us your card to come back for a complimentary bowl and allowing us to order complimentary replacements while there. That's definitely customer service and I appreciate that. But it's the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday, how do you run out of a simple main ingredient like rice? Is there no low rice warning in the kitchen? No alert that's states rice is approaching critical low levels? None? No? I appreciate how it was handled, but I guess since it is somewhat new they are working out the kinks. I guess. I would give 4 stars, but it's rice that ran out. Who runs out of rice? I like Bartaco. I recommend it. The guacamole is yummy. Their cucumber salad is tasty The pork Belly and shrimp tacos, are a yes and yes from me. The drinks, yeeesss. He visited our table to ensure we were please with the exceptional service David was providing. He asked for feedback about our experience. He made us feel as valued customers. I hate writing negative reviews, I REALLY do. I will try and highlight the good as well. I hope this was a one off experience and others have enjoyed this place better than we were able to. 3 of my girlfriends were grabbing dinner here. I couldn't meet them until about 30-40 minutes after they already were seated so I figured I would just get a drink as they were wrapping up their meal. To my advantage, but not to their delight, when I arrived they had only been given drinks. One friend mentioned she had ordered a margarita with no salt, and when they brought it out with salt and she sent it back, they poured it over the salt into a different glass. They mentioned they asked for chips but were waiting on those too. The minute I sat down I was greeted - the server was super friendly and got my drink right away. The spicy margarita was delicious by the way. At this point I'm pretty happy and getting my tasty drink on. Then I realized what the girls were talking about, we requested chips once more and then had to ask if we could order food. At this point it had been an hour. During the wait for the food a runner brings us some random tamale that we couldn't identify. He later came back and said it wasn't for us but he was just going to leave it there. We weren't any closer to getting our food, but still not complaining, there was just a lot of talk at the table about how long we had been there. Ordered more drinks - one comes out wrong, one comes out later correct, one wasn't put in and never comes out. Mentioning the missed drink to a separate server she says she will grab it. Never comes, still no food. At this point the energy at the table is getting negative about the whole experience. We are all getting a bit #hangry. So finally I ask the manager about my drink and we tell her a bit about our experience. She is SUPER friendly and says she will get the drink out right away. Food comes, it was pretty good. My tacos were a bit dry, but I would have eaten anything at that point so I scarfed those puppies down. She walks over to the server and stands a few tables behind us in clear sight talking to him... in front of us. He starts staring over at us, heads to put in the drink, now everybody at the bar is talking about us and staring at our table too. I thought the manager would be back quickly with the drink but instead the super friendly waiter I had met at the beginning is NOT so happy. He delivered the drink later and just says "spicy margarita" then walks away. The manager later came by to check on how we were doing at that point. We had to tell her how uncomfortable we were that she talked to him in front of us, that the half of the staff was staring at us and that we really just wanted to leave. We had been there well over 2 hours at this point. She was extremely apologetic, I cannot emphasize her niceness. She comped the ENTIRE check. We asked to pay but she insisted and looked a bit shaken up. I felt bad. We left what would have been a 18% or so tip regardless. Anyway, I know 4 women that likely won't be back, but its a damn shame because that was a tasty margarita. read more

After driving by bartaco for a couple of years now, I finally gave it a try today. I'm sorry I waited so long! A really cute place. I was the first one in but it was full by the time we left. Our waitress was attentive without being stalky and the food was great. I got a shrimp banh mi rice bowl and my friend got a chicken rice bowl. Both were yum and though the shrimp banh mi was very spicy (fresh jalapeños) it wasn't so spicy that I couldn't eat every little bit. Can't wait to go back and sample a bunch of tacos. First I want to confirm that I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I had low expectations of what I have termed hipster tacos after trying some other places, but bartaco is really great! We tried all three vegetarian taco options. Note the taco's are about three bites big, so you will need at least three! At $2.50 each not a big deal. 1. Falafel Taco - YUM! This was a my favorite, I love the cucumber and yogurt dressing on it! 2. Portobello Mushroom Taco- My husband liked the grilled mushrooms, but though it was underwhelming. 3. Cauliflower Taco- Was stunned that this was actually really great! We also had the grilled corn, tamale, and gauc which were all pretty good and about 5 bucks each. Dessert - They had lots of yummy ice creams and such, but we got the chocolate Churros. Which were yummy! The only problem is to avoid the busy time. It gets crowded and service can get a little slow. Overall, it can get pricey. We paid 60 bucks with tip for our two person meal. I think this place is a travesty. They have successfully brainwashed many of the masses into thinking that this is a good restaurant to come to. The tacos are abysmally small. The portion is seriously horrendous. I have popped Advil that have filled me up more than their tacos. On top of the portions being microscopic the tacos are expensive. Some reach near $4. For a dollar more I can get a burrito at Willy's that will feed myself and my family. The atmosphere for me is atrocious. It is identical to eating inside an urban outfitter. There is a strong disconnect between the food and the setting. The service is done very weird. You have to stick a little card in a holster and pray one of their leather apron henchmen comes and serves you. The alcohol is egregiously overpriced and not made in any particular special way to justify it. I am impressed at how many 20 something females have been manipulated into giving this place business. It just goes to show that if you paint something white and throw a bunch of eclectic items inside and charge through the roof prices people will somehow think it's cool. Awesome little taco joint. Loved the outdoor seating! Really cool patio with warmers and a great ambiance. Staff was courteous and prompt and the food was brought or quickly. Margaritas were a bit too tart for my taste by the taco platter we ordered was delicious. Fresh ingredients, good presentation and great flavor overall. Been recommended this restaurant and this location specifically multiple times throughout the year i've lived in Atlanta. Had a free night one night decided to check it out. Vibes are amazing, music is amazing, friendly staff. We went on a Saturday night and the wait time was next to nothing. However, after being sat at a cute table is where the weirdness began. The way you order is by scanning a barcode on the table, and ordering through a website. However I wasn't paying and was waiting for a second person. Which essentially means you can't order anything until they get there. The payer has to enter the card onto the website before ordering anything. Eventually I just added my own card to pay and ordered. I ordered the margarita which is what the manager recommended, very good. The other half of my party finally arrived and he ordered the Mescal Margarita. Terrible. Sour with a hint of barbecue sauce. We both ordered tacos (two bite tacos) and sides (no sides included with the tacos.) He ordered the steak tacos and shrimp tacos. The steak tacos were WAY too salty and the taste of meat wasn't very prevalent. The shrimp tacos were sour with barely any sauce on them. I ordered the fish tacos and fried oyster tacos. They were both good but the meat compared to the taco was barely anything (think: 2 bite tacos, one bite had meat, the other was shell and toppings.) Ordered the street corn which was AMAZING and the rice and beans which were also very good. You have no server so the food runner / manager are the ones you talk to about anything, and the way you get their attention is by putting a card on the end of the table which was convenient, and as i mentioned earlier, staff was awesome! The bill came out to 82$ after tipping for tacos, two drinks, and sides. Not a bad experience especially for the atmosphere, but probably will not be returning for a while. read more

I was in the area and craving tacos so I came here based on the reviews. It was ok, I would possibly go back and try something else. I got the lunch taco plate with the cauliflower taco, (6/10) portobello taco, (4/10) and the chicken taco (7/10) It took the server forever to bring me water and allow me to order, but the food came out quickly. The restaurant is really cute and there is a nice little patio area. It would probably be a good place for a large group. I wish they gave chips, it would probably add an extra star.
